Small restaurant, big flavorful taste. I ordered the chicken wings and waffle on Saturday am at 10:45am. It took a little less than 15 minutes to get my order. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'd call in my order. The waffle was fluffy and delicious. The chicken wings were packed with flavor and the crisp was on point just the way I like it. Omg the hype is real! This place is amazing! Great fresh fried chicken wings and delicious waffles! The waffle did have a slight taste I can't put my finger on like a slight taste of tart? Tang? Either way it was delicious and I'd definitely have another one. The chicken was juicy and crunchy and not oily at all. Everything is made to order. The establishment has street parking. Tables inside are small so it's probably not great for groups bigger than 4. read more

Had some time this morning without my kids and came across this lovely gem. I was greeted by a wonderful woman who explained their menu. I said I was there for one of their breakfast burritos and asked her favorite. She said the hot link breakfast burrito. I said why not let's do it. I would normally go for the bacon but I am so happy I tried something new. The burrito was amazing. The salsa was so fresh that went with it. I was so happy I went with her recommendation and will be coming back with my family and friends. read more

Very tiny hole in the wall that can be easily overlooked in the center of busy Cypress in downtown Covina. God bless whoever decided to bring comforting soul food to Covina. Parking was kind of terrible on a Saturday in downtown but that was expected. Be prepared to park down the street and walk a minute or two during peak breakfast+brunch hours. The place is small with only 3 tables but its so cozy and intimate with smooth jazz playing in the back. Locals come here, waving hi to the cook in the back and smacking their lips as they look over the menu. Food was served fresh and hot. We ordered the chicken and waffles + breakfast burrito with pulled pork. Chicken and waffles were crisp, waffles soft and buttery and fluffy while the chicken was dark from seasoning. Incredibly moist chicken wings and pretty large for the price. Best chicken and waffles I've ever tried. Burrito was hefty and definitely worth the price. Drizzle some hot sauce over it... too good. Even met some nice people at the other table while eating. Service was friendly and genuine + the owner came out to talk to customers which made me smile. All in all, bad ass food, good people. I came here hung over and pretty sad one morning. First timer. Michelle, who's the chefs daughter greeted me with the best and loving sass. She took a look at me and said, "You want the chicken and waffles". And she called me pretty! Omgsh.. can someone please give recommendations to all decisions in my life? The waffles were perfection! I enjoyed the texture and flavor... crunchy on the outside, fluffy and a nice chew of the inside. The chicken wings were probably the best I've had which says a lot. I usually will eat a little and take everything to go to munch throughout the day but the chicken was so hot, fresh and juicy- I finished them in house! I'm drooling writing this thinking about the hot sauce they came with. I came back the next day for catfish, greens and mac. Omgsh... delicious! I love that fact that there's a piece of bread underneath the fried cat fish to collect the extra oil and keep them crunchy to go. Their hot sauce is bomb! The meal came with these lil corn cake fritters. Everything tastes so good when it's made with care and love so be patient waiting for your meal. Greatness takes time! I have been here before, been a while....the service and smiles are always a welcoming hit! This time....I felt a little different because I had a return. I actually took a couple of dates there for breakfast and enjoyed it when first opened. Chicken was a 10, hot freshly fried and seasonings! Breakfast burrito bacon was big but dry as the desert, I put the little salsa and added cheese as I thought it would have it. I struggled with it tho. I spent @30$ for a burrito and a 5 section part wing lunch. Idk when I will plan to support the business again. Talking about a hidden gem....after trying their breakfast burrito with hot link, this place sparkles like a 10 karat diamond. Looking for something different to eat for breakfast, I stumbled across this place. I yelped it and it looked like it is well liked, so here we go! First greeted by two lovely ladies, very nice & friendly. Looking at the menu, I zeroed in on the breakfast burrito with hotlink.. The restaurant is very small, with the dinning area only having 3 tables, besides the size, the dinning area was nicely decorated with an older dresser and shelving unit, filled with knick knacks, felt like being at Grandma's house on a Sunday morning. Cutting my burrito in half to see the inside, it looked amazing, perfectly proportioned throughout. Besides looking great, tasted great, this was home cooking at its finest. The taste was well balanced, not to greasy, not overly salted. Delicious! I was here a few years before the pandemic started, with my ex-husband. We enjoyed it and had thought about bringing our kids, but never got the chance to. Finally got the chance to go back today with my son, we shared a breakfast bacon burrito and the chicken and waffle. The café is small, and it has a cozy home feeling. Michelle and BB made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. BB, your food is amazing! Michelle, my son said on our way home, we could've spent hours just chatting away with you if you weren't so busy and if we hadn't had errands to run ourselves. BB's was exactly what I needed this morning! The food and hospitality make me want to keep coming back to try all the great options on the menu. Today I chose the chicken and waffle and a side of eggs. It was perfect! The chicken was exactly what you hoped for when you order chicken and waffles. 100% Tender and tasty. We've been looking for some good fried fish & there are not any good soul food restaurants in this area. Decided to try this small business and were pleasantly surprised. The fried fish dinner with greens and Mac 'n cheese was incredible. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. The service was excellent. The decor was also a pleasant surprise. My Aunty and I had a fantastic breakfast here! We enjoyed some fluffy waffles with fresh berries and whipped cream--so delicious! This is such a great hole in the wall place! The food is always fresh to order and is consistently delicious. We got the chicken and waffles and it was perfect. Once you come here you'll never want to go back to Roscoes! The waffles are nice and fluffy while the chicken is fried to perfection! The wings will come out smoking hot so careful before you take your first bite Don't forget to get a side of Mac n Cheese with your order! I can't wait to come back to try the lunches here but I did not care for the breakfast burrito with pulled pork. It was too dry and overcooked. There wasn't much egg either. There were lots of shredded potatoes and they were crunchy (and too greasy) but I want more eggs, more flavor and more moisture. Maybe bbq sauce would work? More soft scrambled eggs and less meat would probably help. Service was 5/5. read more

DELICIOUS FOOD, WARM WELCOMING SERVICE !! CANNOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS !! My friend and I came on a Friday morning, half an hour before they opened and we got to meet THE BB herself. She was so sweet, funny, and kind. You can tell how much the community loves this establishment. The gentleman who ordered ahead of us could not stop singing his praises. We got the: 1) Hot Links Burrito: -Great breakfast burrito. Top tier for sure. Filled to the brim with eggs, potatoes, and the hot links had a nice, slight kick to them. -Went super well with the salsa (house made I'm sure since the tomatoes were nicely pureed). -I shared half of this with my friend but if I was really fiending, I'd down the whole thing easily. 2) 3 Piece Chicken: -BB actually gave us an extra piece, seeing that we were going to share. What a kind soul! -I usually don't like fried chicken (if it's not from a Korean fried chicken place), but this was DE-LI-CIOUS. -The skin is super crispy with a very slight lemon-y pepper taste and the meat was very moist, but not greasy at all. -Went great with the hot sauce ! 3) Mac n Cheese: -You can never go wrong with Mac n Cheese! -Nice, cheesey and gooey with the macaronis having a nice texture to it We were checked up on and thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. Cute place. There wasn't a wait. We ordered the chicken and waffle combo with an extra 3 pieces of chicken. Total was less than $19. It was the perfect amount for the two of us. The food is made fresh and we got it quickly. The service was good. I will come back to try the pan fried fish. Our chicken was crispy and hot. The waffle was the best. It was fluffy and sweet. Not sure if the butter or syrup set it over the top but it made it all come together perfectly. Loved it. read more

Did a double-take when I saw their sign for the fried catfish lunch special! Had no idea I had soul food so close to home! F*** yes, it's so good! I grew up a bit in the Florida pan-handle; the ladies working and the food remind me of those good times. They were super friendly, very nice, loved the food they made and put a lot of love into it. They offered ketchup, tartar sauce, and hot sauce for the catfish special. I just took the hot sauce. God, I'm still thinking about it and I ate it an hour ago. Definitely get the collard greens! SoCal is known for its food, but I don't see a lot of soul food, so please try the greens! The potato salad was yummy, but it's not for me; dill turns me off LOL. The dill wasn't over powering or anything, it's just my taste. I want to go back and try more food. Gotta get an order of that banana pudding next time too... Oh, parking! By then, my husband didn't even want it anymore because it had already been sitting in front of other people. To their credit, they remade it, but then we waited another 15 minutes for his food while I had already finished eating. We actually watched another couple sitting next to us get so frustrated because their order was completely forgotten. After waiting forever with no food and barely any acknowledgment, they eventually just got up and left. My group ordered the following: 1) Stacks German pancake. It is served with fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas. It was delicious. It satisfied my craving but I have had better. 2) Stacks favorite omelette. Omelette filled with ham, bell pepper and cheese. It is served with hash brown and pancake. Delicious. Nice size portions. Good value. 3) Gluten free blueberry pancake with a side of eggs and sausage. This is served with blueberry compote. Also delicious and good value. We also had brewed coffee. The coffee was good. Service was great. Staff friendly and attentive. Interior decor is very homey. We will be back when we are in the area.

I went on their last day at the physical location. There was definitely a feeling of community and good vibes. It wasn't so packed but there were plenty of conversations being had in this small space. It seems like they've cultivated a lot of trust and adoration with their customers. It was my first time here so I went with their chilaquiles rojos and a cafe de olla latte (hot). It didn't take long to come out. At first I thought the portion size of chilaquiles was on the smaller size for the price, but once I tasted them, I didn't mind it. They were so good! Flavorful, covered in red sauce, I love that they topped it with cilantro and onions, it gave it a burst of freshness. The egg was cooked perfectly (they gave me the option of scrambled or fried egg). It wasn't spicy at all (I kinda wish that it was). The latte was amazing as well. You really taste the piloncillo, but it's not overly sweet. I would go just for that drink alone. Everything about my visit was great. I would suggest following them on their socials to get updates about their next business ventures and hopefully news about where to find them next.

They got my eggs exactly up easy, which is more than most diners can do. The service was a bit slow with the refills; I only could get two refills by the time the meal ended when a more on the ball server can get me to that five or six cup mark. It wasn't too egregious, though, with her checking after five minutes of me looking to her to get my coffee. The ambiance is a little old and past its prime, but I kind of think that's what gives diners like this its character. I wasn't put off at all as I like to see a place that's settled in and experienced than brand new and maybe still figuring it out. All in all, it was a good breakfast, minus the hash browns and lack of refills. It's not the top of my list of best breakfast options in the area, but it's not the bottom of the list either.
