Domestic is a little mom n pop smokehouse that does not disappoint! It doesn't look like much if you are looking for a romantic or well designed upscale experience! That's not why you go to a smokehouse! You go to a smokehouse to get meat prepared the BEST possible way! And Domestic gets it right! I had the brisket after starting with the flautas. Here is a run down on the process, review the menu, order at the desk and sit wherever you like. The place is pretty small compared to the Domestic location in Covina, Covina is a lot larger and seemed friendliest. The food was very good, I haven't had their entire menu but the brisket was tender and tasty. So were the ribs and sides but I personally would skip on the coleslaw. read more

The waitresses were very nice and friendly, and the food was decent -- I'd give it about a 7/10. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very uncomfortable. The cook kept standing there looking at us through the window instead of cooking. He kept staring at us and smiling, and it became very awkward. It got to the point where I felt uncomfortable enough that I packed up my food and finished eating in my car. I do want to say the ladies working there were very nice, and this review is not directed at them. Best wedge salad West of the Mississippi. Tator tots cooked to the order with just the right crunch and slight creamy in the middle. Cheddar link was a bit dry, but still had all the flavor. I would pass on the wing's next time. Maybe some brining could put some moisture into them wings. read more

Place is nice, decently sized, with a few tables, friendly. Order at the counter and they'll bring you your food. Husband got a pulled pork sandwich and I got the brisket sandwich (pictured). Domestic is located in downtown Covina, and is amongst many other dining options including walkable bars and dessert options. I'm bummed I haven't tried Domestic sooner because their barbecue is undeniably delicious. Our family of five (with one little one), opted for the family plate which included chicken, ribs, sausage link, and tri-tip - and amongst sides - was PLENTY to share but also so damn delicious!! There is both indoor/patio covered seating as well as bar and bar top options. The restaurant is quaint but the outdoor space adds plenty of tables for dining flow. We did not have to wait around 5pm on a Friday but was fairly full when we were done. The service was... awkward? The server took our order at least three times because there was an issue with the device but didn't really say that and kept asking for our selected options. It was a little challenging to get his attention for drink refills and napkin requests. Overall, a really good experience and I'd chalk up the server to being flustered in the moment. Dropped in to have a burger for lunch. Ordered the bacon jam burger and was very satisfied. Next time I will order it cooked medium but everything else about the burger was great. This place is so unexpecting and tucked within the industrial parts of La Puente. It's a great spot to just hang out. Maybe because it was during a slow weekday, but we went for dinner on a Tues evening and they only had 1 outdoor patio on the sidewalk. We had our dog so that was our only option. Inside has plenty seating though. We ordered inside with the nice young lady and she was very helpful and even brought out our food to us. She helped pick beers and service was great. Went here last night with a friend and it was solid. I got the brisket and it was thick cut and some parts were a bit dry. I had to cover it in the sauce! But they either need sauce bottles at the table or give you more in the sauce container. I'm sure I could have asked for more. I didn't see any hot sauce or spicy bbq sauce. Was in the area to stop by 99 Ranch Market and my husband was getting hangry so I looked to my buddy, Yelp, for an assist! Found this place based on the high ratings and we are so glad to have tried it out. We got the sliders with potato salad plus a side order of the mac and cheese. My colleague got the standard brisket and fries and raved about it as well. It is a CLASSIC burg with American cheese, lettuce of the shredded variety, pickles and tomatoes and house spread. The juiciness and size of the overall burger was just right. I upgraded my side from fries to the potato salad. I also had to try the bacon mac and cheese. At this point, this is too much food for one person and I was stuffed... for dessert I had the banana pudding! The pudding is elevated by that sweet bruleed marshmallow puff and the vanilla wafers. No morsel left behind. Tables and bar seating were aplenty. Great table service, too checking in, and bringing condiments or anything else you need. The food and ambiance was amazing but the kitchen was not staffed enough at all,the saddest thing was the restaurant was not super busy,there were tables available,it took about a hour to get our food, my son who was watching the window, watched servers shuffling food around that was there for other tables for quite a while as well, and the only reason we got our food was because there is no other place to put food under the heater at the window,so high for that restaurants in hotels, and I know there is a person standing at the window and their title is expediter. You make sure the food goes out as soon as it is placed at the window, then to add insult to injury, our server told us my meal, which was a tease sandwich I could get the meat that was in is taking a little bit longer because cheese sandwiches take longer, then the lead server proceeded to give excuses as well and said that he was not going to take responsibility because he was just the lead server and he also gave excuses as well. If there is anything to get out of this teach your style don't give excuses just give reasons why things are taking longer we are human we understand things, but don't just give lies as a reason for food taking so long to be served. read more

The folks here super friendly and helpful. The process is - you walk in, stand in line to order, finds seat, and wait for them to bring you your food. I ordered some brisket, sausage, and the cornbread. The brisket was very good. It was tender and flavorful. Nice smoke to it. The sausage was great and so was the cornbread. I liked that they already drizzled honey over it. The food comes with some pickles and some sauce of your choice. I was here for lunch during the workday so I didn't order any of the beers. They do have a pretty nice selection, especially in what feels like a small spot. They have Pliney the elder on tap, which is always a good sign. I definitely would love to come back.
