Domestic is located in downtown Covina, and is amongst many other dining options including walkable bars and dessert options. I'm bummed I haven't tried Domestic sooner because their barbecue is undeniably delicious. Our family of five (with one little one), opted for the family plate which included chicken, ribs, sausage link, and tri-tip - and amongst sides - was PLENTY to share but also so damn delicious!! There is both indoor/patio covered seating as well as bar and bar top options. The restaurant is quaint but the outdoor space adds plenty of tables for dining flow. We did not have to wait around 5pm on a Friday but was fairly full when we were done. The service was... awkward? The server took our order at least three times because there was an issue with the device but didn't really say that and kept asking for our selected options. It was a little challenging to get his attention for drink refills and napkin requests. Overall, a really good experience and I'd chalk up the server to being flustered in the moment. Who would have thought that La Puente would have such good bbq. This place hits all the smoke flavors and was tender to the bone. I got the D plate with pork ribs and upgraded to bbq chicken, cornbread, pork rinds, and a beer to wash it down. You order your food and they drop it off to you where you sit. The service was fast and friendly. The decor was nice too. I live in the South Bay so hopefully they build one close by soon. read more

Went here last night with a friend and it was solid. I got the brisket and it was thick cut and some parts were a bit dry. I had to cover it in the sauce! The Mac and cheese was solid-- I like how creamy it is! I also loooove cornbread and these ones I don't recommend. They are soooo dry. This place is so unexpecting and tucked within the industrial parts of La Puente. It's a great spot to just hang out. Maybe because it was during a slow weekday, but we went for dinner on a Tues evening and they only had 1 outdoor patio on the sidewalk. We had our dog so that was our only option. Inside has plenty seating though. We ordered inside with the nice young lady and she was very helpful and even brought out our food to us. She helped pick beers and service was great. This place is worth the visit. If you are looking for great bbq, meat quality, smokiness and a variety of draft beers, you need to stop by. The St. Louis ribs were tender, nicely charred and bbq sauce made for a pleasant bite each time. Orders the bacon Mac n cheese, gooey, cheesy and satisfying. Brisket fries with a variety of salsas, breaks the meat options. Service is amazing, everyone appears to be hustling to ensure you are enjoying your dinner. Took a few people from work to enjoy an end of the year celebration! It was just easier for each of us to get the "D" plate. $22 per plate (Dec 23, 2024). That way no fighting and the boys were hungry! I also got a full rack of rib ala carte to share. It was a hit! I got the brisket w bacon mac n cheese. I love the fatty brisket! Ribs were great! But they either need sauce bottles at the table or give you more in the sauce container. I'm sure I could have asked for more. I didn't see any hot sauce or spicy bbq sauce. They just gave you one sauce per plate. The cashier was very helpful. You order and pay, then sit. The only thing I thought was weird was when I went to pay w credit card, she didn't turn the tablet around and/or the kiosk didn't ask for tip. Was in the area to stop by 99 Ranch Market and my husband was getting hangry so I looked to my buddy, Yelp, for an assist! Found this place based on the high ratings and we are so glad to have tried it out. We got the sliders with potato salad plus a side order of the mac and cheese. Ribs - not the meatiest pieces, but the flavor was delicious Potato Salad - really refreshing and bright; went well between the meat heavy bites Bacon Mac & Cheese - super creamy, well seasoned. Thanks, Erika, for letting me know what's good! I ordered and greatly enjoyed the Bacon Jam burger. It is a CLASSIC burg with American cheese, lettuce of the shredded variety, pickles and tomatoes and house spread. The juiciness and size of the overall burger was just right. I upgraded my side from fries to the potato salad. I also had to try the bacon mac and cheese. At this point, this is too much food for one person and I was stuffed... for dessert I had the banana pudding! The pudding is elevated by that sweet bruleed marshmallow puff and the vanilla wafers. No morsel left behind. Tables and bar seating were aplenty. Great table service, too checking in, and bringing condiments or anything else you need. A colleague and I were in the area for a business meeting that ended around lunch time. We quickly looked for a place nearby to eat lunch. DOMESTIC was like 4th on the list and somehow drew us to it, we took a flyer and headed over. It's a small place but smells delicious. Lots of beers on tap and extremely friendly service. I ordered the Cheesy Brisket with a side of bacon Mac n cheese. 5 stars on all of it. Literally some of the best meat I've had in CA. The bread was great and the meal as a whole was phenomenal. My colleague got the standard brisket and fries and raved about it as well. I don't live near this restaurant and neither does my colleague but we both said that we will be back and bringing more people to experience this heavenly food. Well done DOMESTIC! read more

4++ a smallish barbecue spot located on the edge of old town La Puente. This place has a very hometown-y familiar vibe to it. When you walk in, it feels very warm and welcoming. The folks here super friendly and helpful. The process is - you walk in, stand in line to order, finds seat, and wait for them to bring you your food. I ordered some brisket, sausage, and the cornbread. The brisket was very good. It was tender and flavorful. Nice smoke to it. The sausage was great and so was the cornbread. I liked that they already drizzled honey over it. The food comes with some pickles and some sauce of your choice. I was here for lunch during the workday so I didn't order any of the beers. They do have a pretty nice selection, especially in what feels like a small spot. They have Pliney the elder on tap, which is always a good sign. I definitely would love to come back. I was so pleasantly surprised to come across this place! A real hidden gem! I was looking for a good banana pudding and came across this place, and I was not disappointed. They have a unique take on banana pudding served with marshmallows and inside they use biscoff cookies. Such a fabulous combination. This mom-and-pop restaurant deserves far more attention and recognition. They serve all sorts of premium meats that have been slow cooked or smoked to perfection. The St. Louis Style Ribs alone made my 35 minute drive worthwhile. The hash browns are unreal. The brisket sandwich is amongst the best in its class. Holy moly, this spot is my new favorite place for the occasional American BBQ craving! I was craving Texas BBQ after watching a mukbang, and because I don't live in Texas, California BBQ was the next best thing! The spot is rather hard to find as it's tucked away in an industrial area, but once you find it, it's rustic and charming. Kind of reminds me of a scene out of Borderlands. Anyways, came here with a family of four and the hostess serving us at the time was peppy, enthusiastic, and friendly. We weren't rushed to order and she was patient with custom requests. We were hungry, so we grabbed the family platter, wedge salad, cornbread, potato salad, and peach cobbler. Boy, were the portions huge. We severely underestimated how generous the portions were! My favorites were the brisket, garlic fries, hot links, and the decadent peach cobbler at the end. Yum. My only complaints were that the cornbread tasted a bit bland and was dry, and the ribs were also tough and hard to chew through. But everything else was delicious and worth coming back for. I found this place on Yelp, as I was coming back from a job site visit for work and was hungry. BBQ sounded great and this spot was on the way back to the office. It's a simple, small, but cute little storefront spot a little off of the beaten path. When my coworker and I walked in, we got a sunny, bright and enthusiastic greeting from Adi. It smells so good when you walk in and they offer all of the BBQ standards. I had the pulled pork meat plate with coleslaw. My coworker got the pulled pork sandwich. Everything was fresh, delicious, and true authentic BBQ. They have a nice selection of craft beers on tap, making this a great spot if you're looking for a fast stop for some BBQ and a beer. This is my favorite bbq spot that's local to my workplace! You can tell the meats are made fresh everyday to perfection. The beef ribs melts off the bones and huge! Their sausages, briskets, and short ribs are my go to with robust and smoky flavors, but you have to try their sides as well. The bacon Mac and salad are so delicious. Every ingredient is fresh and you can tell. Their service is always exceptional, never had an issue even when they're super busy or have Pos issues, they still really take care of everyone. Pretty disappointed in this place, I thought it would be so much better. We ordered 2 D's plate which comes with choice of 1 meat, 1 side, 1 hot link, and dinner roll. Also got pork rinds as an appetizer, cornbread, and an extra jalapeño cheddar sausage. Pork rinds were decent nothing special. Portion size of the meat was pretty small for 1 plate we got the pork ribs and we're given just 2 bones( I know food cost is high but it should be 3 or 4 bones. Rib was decent, tender, but not too tender and had ok taste. The hot link was good. The Mac and cheese as a side had no flavor/seasoning at all. The dinner was hard and cold. The other side of cajun rice was actually fluffy and good. The other meat was the most pathetic 3 slices of Brisket I have ever seen, SO DRY!!! I'm thinking it was not made that day from the way it looked. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was just average. The corn was definitely not made today because it was also bone dry.
