Keep your hats on for this review, my people! Here's the spice of life. We came here for dinner after spending the day on Vashon Island and weren't sure at first if we'd been to this BBQ place before. After parking and thinking back to around Covid, we remembered, yes, we had been here once before, and it was all "to go." So this time, we jumped at the chance to sit, relax, and enjoy. We ordered a pound of beef brisket and two orders of fried okra. The brisket was juicy, tender, and not too spicy. It comes dry with sauce on the side, and there are plenty of delicious sauces for your taste buds to enjoy. After receiving our brisket, my beloved and I wondered where our okra was. Watching everyone come and go, plus pickup orders, we thought it was taking a while because the okra is made fresh to order. Boy, were we wrong. After about 30 to 45 minutes of chatting and trying to figure out if it's made fresh, coated, then fried, or thawed and fried, we decided to ask. Luckily, we did because no one heard our order being called back to the kitchen. That was strange since the kitchen staff member who took our order had gone back to cooking. Maybe he thought it was dropped or the order had been made. No harm, no foul. After several eye-to-eye exchanges with staff and possibly the owner, he asked if we were waiting or needed something. We mentioned the two orders of okra. They apologized for not making the order, refunded us, and still made the okra. But wait, ladies and gentlemen, it gets even better! Not only did we get our okra, but I believe the owner also gave us smoked chicken, more brisket, sausage, beef ribs, and two delicious brownies. I know this is long, but I appreciate you sticking with me until the end. This was the perfect way to end our day! It was significant because it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary and 22 years together. We did not mention this to anyone until after everything had happened. If the owner reads this review, please know how much you blessed us with your transparency and effort to provide the best experience. The gentleman who gifted us the fantastic food and refunded our money for the okra, which he wasn't obligated to do, was incredibly kind and polite about the mistake. We truly appreciate his kindness, and he appreciated our patience and understanding. Overall, even without the extra attention, we will return because the restaurant is clean, the food stays fresh, and the service is excellent. It's incredible how some of the best BBQ is right here in Gig Harbor.

I lived in Texas for 14 years and have been to all the great BBQ spots in Kansas City. Here in Washington we just don't have great BBQ......or so I thought!!! This place does a nice job of making Texas style BBQ! Had the brisket and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. Was given a free sample of the smoked pork butt (super tender and great smoke flavor) as well. Ordered a side of beans and they were really good too! Like a lot of Texas places you buy the meats by the pound and they do not offer combo plates. Really wish they did. Would have loved a plate with a couple sides. Good was really good though and I found a spot to scratch the BBQ itch!

I gave BBQ2U another try, and that one visit turned into many more. The meat is solid, though sometimes a little on the mild side, but the BBQ sauce more than makes up for it. It's fantastic--and they even bottle and sell it. Bring back an empty bottle, and you get half off your refill, which is a great deal. The fries are also excellent, always cooked fresh, and the staff here are incredibly friendly and personable. They take the time to chat and even remember you when you come back. I personally always get a brisket sandwich slathered in sauce.

Beef rib, 1 lb pork ribs, 1 lb beef brisket (fatty), brisket chili

I was pleasantly suprised with the BBQ here! Stumbled upon this place when I was looking for something to eat in the Gig Harbor area. Texas style bbq with a focus on delicious smokey beef with sauce on the side. Went with the 1 lb beef brisket (fatty cuts of course), 1lb pork ribs, beef brisket and brisket chili. Sadly, they forgot to add the two sausages I ordered so I cannot comment on them. Beef brisket was very succulent and delicious. The beef rib is always a favored cut of mine and always get this if available. Enough meat for two people as the rib is enormous. Pork ribs were very tender fall of the bone. Brisket chili was interesting riff that had sweet corn mixed in. BBQ for a bit over $100 it was enough food for about 5 meals so all in all not a bad deal. I hope they remember the sausages next time!

I was craving BBQ, and have been wanting to try BBQ2U for a while. My husband and I stopped in during the week after work looking for a quick bite to eat in the plaza. Not knowing what to expect, surprisingly, there was a solid line to order your food at the counter. There is plenty of seating inside, and they offer to-go and online orders. You wait in line to order, and then also wait at the counter to get your food. There isn't a "take your name" or "call your number" system, but the food is worth the wait. We both ordered brisket sandwich, with chips and a fountain soda. They also have a selection of unique bottled sodas. The sandwich was simple, but still delicious. They have an area with sauces you can choose from, but I wished they were labeled so you know what sauce was what. There's also an area to purchase sauces and rubs to take home, and other merchandise items. It's a cool local spot that filled my BBQ craving. There is a BBQ boat that I want to try next time!

So this is Texas bbq- which should be all about the brisket. And...the brisket was phenomenal! Best I've had outside of Texas. Perfect! The red hot sausage was good- but cooled off to fast. Great flavor though. The ribs were good. My wife love them. I prefer a little more fall off the bone, but no complaints. The pulled pork was not up to my standard. It's OK as I will be ordering brisket only next time. The sides- potato salad and French fries were great. The coleslaw was good - not perfect, but good. The beans had good reviews. The mac and cheese got thumbs down from the family. Overall- really good Texas bbq!

Are there lunch plates or are all meats only purchased by the pound? The pics from a number of years ago show lunch "trays", with a choice of meats and a certain # of sides but all I see on the current website is by the pound.

We left there early and by the time we reached Gig Harbor we were most certainly in the mood for breakfast. Apparently lots of other people did to and also it must frequently that idea in town as it was quite busy. We were informed that there was a wait but it wasn't a bad one and the restaurant looked highly enticing so we put our names on the list. When we were called we sat at the bar. Which was fine... we weren't about to be choosey. We ordered our food and we enjoyed immensely when we got it. I got a waffle with strawberries and cream which was amazing! The waffle was perfection, the fruit was fresh. Just wonderful! I also saw breakfast potatoes and they looked great too so I ordered some of those too. No big surprise... they were excellent! Steve and I both got a Bloody Mary and it was so good! It had a nice, spicy kick to it and was great! Some mornings call for a Bloody Mary and this one fit the bill nicely! Steve got a great tasting omelet and he had no complaints either! It's definitely worth the wait to get a table... not a shred of doubt with that.

Recently stopped in here for a date night with the wife…read more We've been looking for a decent replacement ever since Tacoma lost the Rhein Haus. Since my wife is of German heritage, brats and kraut are a thing in our life. The menu here looked really good, so we stopped in our 29th anniversary. I will say, there is a parking lot across the street. For those who've been in the area for a while and remember past times, it used to be a used car lot Luckily I found an empty spot on the street right out front, so I grabbed it. But yeah, parking in this area can be tricky. Just be aware that there is the lot across the street on Puyallup Avenue, the entrance is from "Court A", which looks like an alley but is technically a road. Tacoma is fun like that. So let's talk food. We ordered the Brätzel, because my wife loves a good soft pretzel with some beer cheese. This one states that it's a beer cheese soup, and it was a bit thinner than a typical beer cheese. But it had a really good flavor. It was not gritty at all like some beer cheese can be (I'm looking at you Hops&Drops). I'm not a huge pretzel fan, but I will say that I tried a portion of it and enjoyed this one. The pretzel had a good flavor and the beer cheese soup was great. We also split the Landjäger / Käse Platte. Let's get one thing clear, this thing is bigger than it looks on the menu. There's a lot here. I'm really not sure exactly which of the four cheese were which. If you go by the description on the Käse Platte then it should be Bavaria Bleu Crème, Raclette, Emmentaler and Butterkäse. The Bleu Crème is easy to spot. The rest look similar really. But each had a unique flavor and all tasted absolutely wonderful. The cured beef and pork sausages were good, but the cheese stole the show here. We also shared the Berliner Platte for a main. Again, I can not stress this enough, there is A LOT of food here. the two of us had no chance of eating all this. This plate comes with the following sausages; Berliner Bratwurst, Smoked Cheese, Spicy Cheese, Chicken Andouille & Bockwurst as well as being served with sauerkraut and you get to pick two sides. We chose the Spätzle and Pommes (fries). All of this was amazing. The spicy sausage and the andouille were too spicy for my wife, but we knew that going in. If you have a group and are wanting to sample the many wursts here, I would highly recommend this plate. Now, let's talk service. I don't remember our server's name, but she was so great. Very friendly, very tentative, very good at her job. This was exactly the kind of service I look for when I go out to a restaurant. I don't want some tablet where I'm interacting with a faceless machine, I don't want a kiosk, I want a real person who engages with us and helps make our experience the best it can be, and this place gets it. The staff here is on point, they are good, they take good care of you and the experience made s want to come back. This place is for sure at the top of our list for German food here in Tacoma. If you have not been, you need to stop by. It's not big, it's not fancy, you'll drive right by it if you aren't paying attention. But this place is by far the perfect replacement for our missing sausage haus. We are so glad we stopped in.

As we arrived, we weren't sure if needed to seat ourselves but by the time we were about to look at a sign, a kind waitress let us know that we can seat ourselves anywhere and brought us menus. I saw that they had tables with fires which was really cool but unfortunately there were a lot of people sitting there so we just sat at the longer tables. The interior of this place is huge and bright! They have plenty of seating inside and it looks like they do outdoor seating which is dog friendly. We were told that they will have days where they have musicians playing German music and that it attracts quite a large crowd. Our waitress Sara was hilarious, personable and did a great job of taking care of us. She really made the visit all the more memorable and fun! We did order a lot: Berliner Platter with chips and spatzle, Berliner Sliders with fries and a bratzel. We did not realize just how huge the portions were for everything, like the platter was going to be big but we weren't expecting the amount of food for other order. Everything tasted absolutely amazing though! We really enjoyed everything and they do not mess around with flavors cause you taste exactly what they advertised. The house made chips were also fantastic and probably some of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend and I are excited to return and definitely will be sharing this spot to others as we thought we had to drive to Leavenworth for good German food but it is closer to home than we thought!

If I had it again I'd ask to add a squirt of bbq inside or ask for more sauce on top. Hubby ordered the Shrimp and Grits. They were great and better than most places we've had them out. Hubby crumbled his side of bacon on top. They were Creamy, savory, cheesy and served piping hot. Jenny said sometimes people ask to add andouille sausage or catfish on top. It's a small place so definitely show up when they're about to open (4pm) bc it'll get crowded by then! Their seating is small so the booths are really for 2 ppl. We were a group of 3 and made it work! Our server was nice and patient with our questions! He said they do this "Christmas pop up bar" during the holidays and fully revamp their menu to be holiday-themed. Everything will be taken down and full menu back in January. I got the Christmapolitan which was lovely! My friend got the cocktail that was named from the Die Hard movie, "Yipee, kai-yay MF" lol. It was pretty good and came in a cute Santa mug with only Santa's bottom half The popcorn chicken was crispy and juicy! Their fries are BOMB, loved the crispiness of it. I got the hot chicken sandwich and it was crispy but kinda got messy and saucey towards the end...overall, pretty good food for what we had and drinks. When I arrived, there was no greeter or host present. I went to the empty seat, briefly set down my coat, and dropped off the birthday gift. When I returned to the seat moments later, a member of the wait staff approached me and said, "What do you think we are doing? We seat people here." I asked whether that was how customers are typically greeted. She then stated that I had "tons of privilege" and directed me to leave the bar, including while I was standing near the door waiting for my friends. I understand that businesses have seating policies, but in this instance there was no clear signage or staff guidance upon entry. The situation was handled in a way that escalated rather than clarified the issue and detracted from what was intended to be a birthday celebration. Added after response from owner: You are certainly free to report your side of the story. I was greeted by your staff with the line, "Who the hell are you!" I asked, "Do you greet all of your customers that way." She then berated me and told me that she does if they just walk in and skip the line. Like most bars, with no one present at the front I assumed bar seating was open. Upon greeting my friends I took the seat. In regards to threatening remarks, the only threat I made was that I would leave a review. I used no harsh language and proceeded to the front of the restaurant to wait for my friends who decided to cash out. Your staff member proceeded to continue to berate me and tell me I would be trespassed if I didn't leave the restaurant and stand in the rain. I did leave while she continued to scream at me. Since I did not have context for what you described a simple, "Hi, we seat at the bar here and this is someone else's seat" would have been a great way to greet me. Don't assume I had bad intent just because I was trying to patronize the establishment. I highly suggest you read your reviews and quit attacking your patrons. Based on what I have read you have a serious problem with staff behavior. You spend all of your time on here defending bad practices instead of improving your service. I am happy to say that I will never patronize your business. In addition you lost 14 other customers due to your actions. I was told I must have privilege just to walk in to meet my friends at a bar. You have a clear over inflated sense of self worth to assume your bar is so great that treating customers this way will keep you in business. Best of luck, and you are correct, a place where staff greet you by yelling at you is not a great fit for me. It likely isn't for others as well.
