Pearl Tea is good! Not amazing or anything, but definitely not bad either. It's a decent little boba stop whenever I'm in Gig Harbor. My son and I have stopped by a few times now, and we've enjoyed our drinks each time. We've mostly stuck with milk teas, so I can't really speak for the rest of the menu, but the ones we've tried have been tasty (usually taro and thai tea). I wouldn't say the tea itself is particularly high quality or anything that will blow your mind, but it does the job when you're craving a casual milk tea. The tapioca boba has always had the texture it should: nice and chewy without being too hard or mushy, so no complaints there i guess. I also really like that they have stamp cards. I'm a sucker for a loyalty card because it gives me more incentive to stop by whenever I happen to be in Gig Harbor. The shop itself is pretty small, with just a few seats inside, but it usually hasn't been too busy whenever we've visited. There's also a kiosk you can order from. In general, Pearl Tea is a reliable 4-star boba spot for me. Nothing fancy or life-changing, but the drinks are good, the boba is properly chewy, and I would stop by again when I'm in the area. read more

This is my kids' absolutely favorite boba shop. There's a fantastic variety of flavors which you can customize or order premixed and they've got hot drinks too, which is a great plus. The boba is soft not chewy and the flavors are great. Service is friendly. It's a small shop so there isn't a lot of indoor seating in the cold weather but when it's warm you can hang out outside. read more

I'll start by saying I'm a bit of a tea snob, I prefer my teas brewed fresh and individually to bring out the best flavor. So when I walked into this charmingly decorated café and saw the milk tea being mixed in bulk, like in slushy machines, I knew it wasn't quite my style. I went with a fruit tea instead, but it was obvious from the first sip that it was sweetened with syrups, not really my thing. A cute little spot inside the plaza. With only two people staffed, and a rush of people, it took a bit for us to get our drinks. My husband ordered a chocolatte with cocoa and sea salt with boba. I ordered an avocado smoothie with extra boba. We wish there was an option to adjust the sweetness level, not sure if they have milk alternatives. The drinks were overall pretty tasty, but I wouldn't say my avocado smoothie was true to taste, and very sweet. I would come back again and try a milk tea instead. read more

Service is always friendly and has great suggestions to customize your drink the way you want it to taste. I love pearl Tea. Didn't have my phone at the time but I got their chocolate mint shake with boba and it was absolutely phenomenal. They have background music you can really get into the groove to. I love their cute stuffed animals on one side and more refined seating on the other for everyone's boba tastes. As others have said: staffing and wait time is the biggest issue here. Don't expect to get in and out. We went on a Wednesday afternoon - three sets of customers waiting ahead of us had already ordered and it took twenty minutes from order to out the door for us. Also disappointed that the website menu doesn't reflect what's actually available. So don't expect to try the dessert boba waffles :( this was disappointing. All that being said, this drink is amazing and I've been searching for quality bubble tea since moving here. I've finally found it, will just need to plan accordingly. read more

Very cute décor. The interior is messy though. They definitely need more staff to keep up with keeping tables and floors clean and keeping drinks coming out. I came in on a weekend midday so I expected it to be a little of a wait, but there was no one in front of me in line. Somehow it still took 30 minutes to get my single drink. The boba was a little sour so it didn't compliment my strawberry matcha drink well. I asked if the taro boba was a flavored tapioca and they said yes, but it definitely is not the same consistency. I did get one out of my drink and it is flavored tapioca I guess, just not the same consistency at all. I'm disappointed in the drink and the location. read more

Updated Review: I haven't been to Pearl Tea in a while and finally decided to stop in today after craving boba, and was disappointed to find out they were under new ownership. I don't know when this happened or why but the menu has completely changed and unfortunately, not for the better. I was looking forward to getting my usual and favorite but once I realized that wasn't an option, decided to try something new. I ended up ordering the Creme Brûlée Boba, as the employee said it was their most popular. After I paid, it dawned on me to ask what kind of milk was used and she stated whole milk, which never sits well with me - so I asked for oat milk and she wanted to charge me another $1 for the modification... usually, I don't have an issue paying extra for a substitution or modification but I felt $1 was too much and my card doesn't allow back to back transactions at the same merchant within a short span of time. So I had to settle with whole milk, which as I knew, didn't sit well. The drink itself just tasted like sweet milk, nothing special and lacked flavor. The boba... highly disappointing. They were overly chewy but in a soggy gummy bear kind of what and completely lacked flavor. Although the drink was disappointing, the Customer service was good. It wasn't busy like it used to be, so I was in and out within five minutes. I'm sad Pearl Tea changed ownership and now have to find a new boba place. read more

Just ok bubble tea! I got Jasmine with non-dairy soy milk. The boba was a bit stiff so was probably sitting around a bit. They also didn't offer hot drinks and didn't accept card. Non dairy milk was an extra $1, too. So it felt standards at other stores aren't the status quo here which was a bit disappointing. The inside is really cute and they had stuffed animals, though. I got a Creme brûlée boba with less ice. First off, I feel like based on other reviews, it seems staffing can be short at times. When I arrived, six people ordered already, sitting waiting for their drinks. The staff asked if I could wait until they catch up with their orders which was fine since I wasn't in a rush. I ended up waiting at least fifteen minutes at the front of the line until they were ready. When I received my drink, the drink was pretty much half full of ice despite asking for less ice and I didn't receive my custard topping. The price I paid was $7 plus tax. A bit disappointed. Such a fun shop! This Pearl Tea location opened recently and is full of unique drink options and flavor combinations. They have most of your classic milk tea flavors, but it seems like the focus is mostly on the fruit teas. They have crafted drinks for you, or you can combine your own tea flavors with toppings such as tapioca, jellies, and popping bubbles (the ones with the juice inside!) They were out of a few things, and I thought they had waffles based on their website but there weren't any on the menu. Love the abundance of floral options. There's something for everyone! So I was very excited to try this place! Happily there was a line which you know that it is a good spot to go ! I went there today and their drink board is absolutely amazing there is so much to try here you just have to go back religiously lol. The atmosphere is very trendy and very clean. There's no indoor seating which is completely fine because they are observing Covid protocols . The gentleman that helped me with my drink was very kind and friendly . I asked for the crème brûlée drink with Tapioca balls since I never know if they are called boba and tapioca balls . When I got my drink and headed to the car I realized that there was no tapioca balls in my drink at all which I paid for.... I was pretty sad since I am pregnant and this is what I'm craving..... but the drink was still amazing. I thought they might be small tapioca pearls or somethings since there was flavoring on the bottom and didn't know if maybe they were there ? And I was just going blind . Very cute shop! The person taking my order was very nice and polite. I ordered a fruit tea with boba and it was delicious! It took a few minutes to make the drink but they seemed to be training a new employee so that is understandable. Just be careful with your cup, the lid doesn't make a perfect seal and it was filled to the top so spilled a little before I drank some. read more
