This review is about Harbor Cakes. I wanted the Lemon Bar Cake seen on the website, it looks…read moredelicious. I was excited to pick it up for a Birthday dinner celebration last night. The reality is it was the worst cake I have spent over $20 for. Certainly the worst I actually paid $65 for. I have attached a picture of the cake from their website that I thought I bought and pictures of the cake I paid $65 for. What you will see is the lemon filling is not the same as the pictured on their website. There is a bubble of air over the lemon filling. What you can't see is the taste. I picked this up yesterday afternoon (Tuesday). I expected a fresh cake. This cake tasted as if it sat around for several days. It could be that it was so old the filling went flat. The frosting didn't have a real buttercream taste I am used to getting from a bakery cake. As noted, I have added photos, you be the judge. I think for $65 the cake should be fresh and the frosting should not taste like it was made with Butter Flavored Crisco. If I could have found an address listed I would have taken this cake back to them for a refund.

What a fun find in Gig Harbor! My group was looking for some dessert options in the area and…read morechanced upon this cute little ice cream outside of the Harbor General Store. They have a variety of different flavors with at least one non-dairy option, with prices at $5 for one scoop. My husband and I opted for the $10 ice cream flight because why not? We tried the: Vanilla, Peach & Mango Sorbet, Mint Chip, Blackberry, Cotton Candy and Cookie Monster. While we enjoyed all the flavors, our favorites were the Blackberry and Peach & Mango Sorbet - they were both so refreshing! I want to note that since this is just a small ice cream cart, there is no seating directly around it (minus the one bench outside the store). However, these ice cream scoops are perfect for on-to-go snacking while you explore Gig Harbor's waterfront area.

I know they do not have regular open hours for just walk in purchase, but rather, they're custom order type business, but I have yet to place any custom orders so I cannot speak to that experience. What made me write this review is how accurate the owner (Brianne) described cake and desserts in the description and the baked goods taste matched 200% of the description. The pistachio cake was out of the world, so was the whoopie pie!!! I got to meet Brianne in person and she was very friendly, and was kind to explain everything about each of her baked goods she had out that day. I've tried their baked goods from pop tarts to cookies to housemade Twinkie and the creation and taste are unmatched. Single serve baked goods were more on pricier side, but well worth every bite. I would definitely order custom baked goods from here, knowing the quality and taste of products from this shop!!! Currently, you can find Spilled Butter baked goods at Cosmonaut coffee, Outer Dark Coffee, and at Tacoma Farmers Market (also known as Tacoma Broadway Farmers Market) from time to time. Enjoy!!!

When you walk in they have a host stand where they will greet and seat you. The dining room is large but it did get pretty full while we were there. They have patio seating first come first serve as well as bar seating. The menu is fairly standard for a breakfast spot, however, everything seemed to be made from scratch and their biscuits were exceptional. This place lives up to the hype, definitely worth a stop if you're looking for breakfast in the gig harbor area.

A few diners enjoyed the outside patio but some looked a bit chilly. Devoted kiss has excellent service. We were greeted right away and given water then we ordered: a piece of banana bread French toast with bacon (kid), the dkc biscuit-wich, and the corned beef (along with coffees for the adults and a milk for kid). They don't have a published kid menu but will make adjustments for kid meals (like our daughter's 1 piece of French toast). I think her meal ended up rung up about $10 plus $2.50 kids milk). Coffee came in large cups so we never ran out (they did refill periodically). A little wait for food which was within reason for how busy they were. We all loved our food. Our kid devoured her banana bread French toast and we both loved our meals. We did end up with take home boxes for leftovers (which I noticed a lot of people had!). I looked around and saw other diners with interesting meals that I wanted to try. When we were leaving a little later (maybe 9:45 am), there was a wait of probably 4 tables. Restaurant still busy. Bathrooms were clean, we parked on the street outside the restaurant but saw some people park a little farther and walk, restaurant buzzed with activity (a little noisy but within reason for number of people). This would be a nice spot to bring an out of town visitor to, if you can make it early or don't mind a wait. Food is worth it.

We usually bring snacks or picnics when paying our respects as my dad was a big foodie. It was pretty dead in the restaurant since it was around 5pm, so we didn't have to wait long for takeout. Not that I expect servers to be too attentive for takeout customers, but since it was so slow, a little banter or seeing if we want a glass of water while waiting would have been nice since it was a really hot day. Not sure if service would have been better if we dined in or not. As far as food went, my husband who isn't as picky about barbecue was really satisfied. He got the coffee brisket and I was surprised how strong the coffee flavor was. I'm not a coffee drinker at all so it was prevalent to me, whereas my husband who does drink coffee said he couldn't taste it. So the verdict of whether the coffee flavor is strong or not might need more tasters! :p the ribs were the best for sure! We both loved them and they definitely were tender! Would go back for those if we're in the area. Finally, the Mac Daddiest was really good and a pretty good portion. In general, the portions were generous and there was enough food for us to enjoy two meals out of it!
