It never fails that this place disappoints! If it's not a manger screaming and using profanity, or getting the order wrong every time, it's something else! Today I sat with my dog outside. he's small and was sitting on the outside chair. The waitress comes up and lets me know he cannot sit on their "brand new furniture ". Mind you, there were pigeons all over them And the area! I said ok, sorry he hates sitting on the concrete. She replied sorry your dog is "boujee". Surprisingly, really good sushi. I often have my doubts about places with hybrid offerings, in this case, it was offering Italian and Japanese. We were really surprised how good they were. == Food == Ordered a 9pcs nigiri, their specialty - "black kitty" sushi roll and a fried crab as appetiser. Every item was really yummy. The nigiri ain't the best I ever had, but for the price they are pretty good. The green tea was really good and at the right temperature too. Not a pleasant experience with this restaurant. We walked into the restaurant and the waitress told us we need a reservation, she wrote down our number and said we will get a call in 8 mins. But an hour and half passed, nothing heard back from them. We will not come back for food. The ice cream shop next door is a better place! read more

We were making time because our flight from Arcata was delayed by several hours. Many stores were closed but we went into the visitor's center to just walk around somewhere and made conversation with the staff there. We asked for food recommendations and they recommended this place. I was a bit thrown off by the "Great sushi and Italian" food reference but off we went. Location is nice and we sat by a window with a nice view of the water. I wasn't really expecting it to be amazing and even then I would say this place is just ok. The service itself was really good, so that helps. The food (we went with sushi) was not bad but nothing special. The rolls did come with several pieces, which is good considering that it was really expensive. I am talking LA prices or more ($18-21a roll). So, ok experience, but nothing to pull me back here if I am in the area again. read more

This was an amazing dinner option, recommended by some locals. The food was beautiful in presentation and had pretty spot-on flavor. The ambience was nice with every table having a lovely view of the bay! Our server, Gabby, was absolutely fantastic in every way, she was very accommodating, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu despite being extremely new! The light above our head was flickering on and off, but that wasn't an actual issue that dampened my opinion of the restaurant. Overall, it was a very professional, fancy, but comfortable mood. Love the sushi tried takeout but wasn't as good as eating in. The tempura veggies are yummy and the dipping sauce delicious! Just don't get it for takeout! I had originally made a reservation for teppyanki at 6:30 for 15 people, 16 people ended up showing up the extra one being a kid. They said they could not accommodate us for the extra person at my 6:30 reservation and we'd have to come back at 8:30. We had drove from southern Humboldt to celebrate a birthday so we walked out and ended up at Bella Italian which was honestly a better choice if you have a large party and have kids they welcome you with happy faces! Let's just say bay front was super disappointing and from the moment we walked in the waitress was very unfriendly. Made a reservation for teppanyaki. Was about 13 minutes late. The hostess tells us since we are 15 minutes late our reservation would be canceled. My phone stated 6:43PM. She then stated she would check with the chef. Since they were not super busy they would take us. Another 6:30 reservation had not been seated yet. But they proceeded to scold us like kids. After. being seated we waited over 30 minutes for a chef. The fried rice was good. The shrimp had too much lemon. The filet was tough. The lobster lacked taste. The scallops were good. To be fair, I have never eaten here. But I have tried!!! (3 separate x's). People invite me here. I want a meal when in old town... whatever. I never make it to a table. Because the smell of Italian food mingling with the smell of sushi throws my palate off. I can't get over the nose confusion! Visting from out of state so a relative of ours brought us in for lunch. It wasn't very busy at first but she did mention that it's almost always very busy. The initial impression I had was that the restaurant was as clean as what I would expect from at least a four star restaurant. Also, it is right off of the boardwalk with a nice view of the bay basically no matter where you are seated, so that is always a plus. The gal that served us was very professional and attentive, I wish I knew her name because she deserves kudos. Each of us chose to order a sushi lunch special which I believe was around $13. That includes a four piece California roll, four pieces of nigiri of our choice from about a dozen different fish, as well as either a Seaweed salad or a Miso soup. It did not take long at all for the food to arrive, and it looked amazing (please refer to the three photo's I posted earlier). I went with the Miso soup which was great and I actually ended up getting the Seaweed salad as well as an add-on because I tried my relatives and it was too convincing. As for my meal it comes with four pieces of California roll, it was amazing. As for the Nigiri, I chose to go with the Tako (Octopus), the Hamachi (Yellowtail), the Maguro (Belly of the Bluefin Tuna), and finally the Sake (Salmon). One good sized piece of each. The portions of meat on the Nigiri were above average, and the quality was amazing. Same goes for the sushi rolls. The rice was made well but didn't overwhelm the plate. The fish was the right texture and had amazing flavors. I worked at a upscale sushi restaurant for a year and even with that said, I have to admit that this was the best sushi I have ever had in my life. PART 2: Dinner. I'll try to be as brief as I can with this one, but after how amazing lunch was we decided to come back to try out the Teppanyaki menu/service. I had never tried it before so it was a great experience entertainment wise as well as taste. The chefs are fun to be around, the wait staff is great, and the food is just awesome. We happened to make reservations on a busy Saturday night and we still had no problems with the service or the quality. I believe that a lot of graduating high school seniors were out celebrating before Prom, we sat next to a Bachelorette party, and the next table was a younger persons Birthday party. So it's obvious that this place caters to all sorts of occasions! I don't know what you like, but I had the scallops/lamb and I was not disappointed at all. Delicious, everything! It's a little expensive but worth every bite. My only complaint would be that I was missing pages in my menu that wasn't in my husbands and then I got a different menu and it wasn't the same order and also missing pages, but it was quickly fixed. And sadly the chicken in my Alfredo was cooked kinda weird, Like they cut the chicken up thin to cook it faster but it over cooked it BUT the pasta with asparagus and broccoli was amazing! I also tried my husbands burger and it was great, nice and juicy, cooked even- the fries or chips or whatever was on the side were incredible. Tiramisu was light and creamy. Lobster roll had such great layers of flavors and textures! The crostini was a lot larger than I thought but very refreshing and actually wish I had 5 more after I finished it. All in all- great. And service was fast and friendly. Server was very attentive and knowledgeable of all aspects of the menu, but I don't remember her name but she was blonde with straight across bangs and glasses. A secondary server that had dark brown hair and looked young also checked in with us often and it was nice. And we had a great tall table against the window, it wasn't crowded, or anything either. And it was pretty quiet actually. 10/10 we will definitely be back! read more

I usually get the Crazy Monkey (i add lemon slices and spicy mayo) and the jalapeno poppers.. do yourself a favor, order them. They are divine! The hubs likes the Volcano and the Kaleidoscope, which never disappoint. During lunch times, it's either super slow, or normal. Beer was cold and did the trick, good to hear random lawyer guy got a conviction, busser boy was able to pass out his snapchat to some girl and saw an interesting parade of homeless walking the boardwalk. If the waitress was better at taking pictures, it would have been an all around fun night. I found this place by accident and what a wonderful surprise. I had no idea it was a Sushi and Italian place. The food was awesome. The Kaleidoscope sushi was excellent! Also ordered the Teriyaki Chicken which was very delicious. The servers were very pleasant. There was a delay with my food but I was okay with it because I was informed of the delay. We eat here at least once a month. Best sushi around! My kids also always request to go for teppenyaki every year on their birthdays. I really love the combination of Japanese and Italian cuisines. The last time that my girlfriend and I went there we sat at the sushi bar and talked to Joe all night. He is very friendly and informative, telling us stories of working in restaurants in Beijing and telling us about where various dishes came from. After a great dinner of various sushi rolls, (this is where the fusion comes in), the waitress brought us a free dessert- house made Tiramisu. My favorite! Relatively nice atmosphere. Food is a mixture of Italian and Japanese (What?). It is trying to be a little Jack-of-all-Trades by the Eureka bay. A little snobbish as well. The teppanyaki section is what I imagine is the main grab since it is basically the only one in town. It is no Benihana though. read more

First the rice sucked. A Japanese restaurant should at least get the rice correct it was in edible. But the worst thing was that they no longer offered outdoor dining even though today is a beautiful day. It was "too much trouble". When you call a restaurant and are told that no reservation is required but you arrive to find out they will not seat you without a reservation their management needs a lesson on how to run the business! We were not even offered take out. I know there is a pandemic but you need to learn a lesson. Take-away took longer than people who were dining at tables. We were quoted 30 min, it was actually 70. We were accidentally given the wrong food first time which is all fine and accidental but then our food, the cooked portions of it came out cold and not up to the quality of pre-Covid. read more

Just had the worst plate of fettuccine ever. Noodles were all stuck together and the sauce was thick and tasteless. My girlfriend's rice was cold and her chicken was "crunchy". I have to say the service was good, but there was a fly that kept buzzing around the table the whole time. The server said that the cook was new. A restaurant is only as good as the chef. Perhaps if they hired a real chef instead of a "cook", the business might survive. Still can't figure out if this is a Japanese restaurant or an Italian one. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. It took over an hour to receive our lunch order on a slow Sunday afternoon. Hardly any customers so it wasn't like they were busy which would have been understandable. My husband ordered beef teriyaki and I ordered shrimp tempura. They never served him the salad with his meal and I never received the miso soup with mine. Both of our steamed rice were undercooked. We complained about the rice so they served us another bowl of undercooked rice. I asked for a water refill and the waitress finally refilled it after I asked for the check (half hour later). My shrimp tempura was soggy with grease. The beef teriyaki was absolutely boring...just sliced beef with sauce...no veggies to accompany it. Sure it's a beautiful view to sit looking out at the bay but not worth the disappointment of paying for poor service and overpriced badly cooked food. Never again will I eat here. read more

The restaurant was not busy, only 3 tables were occupied. The service was very slow, our order took 30 minutes to serve. A simple green salad was too cold and the sauce too sugary. The silverware were worn out, although there was only forks on the table! After I asked for a knife, the waitress brought only one knife, although there were 3 of us. An order of salmon comes with rice, but we didn't get one. The location of the restaurant and the view is beautiful but I don't recommend dining there. read more
