Wonderful refreshing experience at Bayberry. Doesn't take long to notice both management and staff care about hospitality and food/drink service. Staff were quick to answer all of my questions and make suggestions when I asked for them. They were also courteous without being overbearing making sure my guests and I were fully taken care of. We had a horrible experience today. Waited 30 minutes for the food, pancake was served without syrup without fresh blueberries what it supposed to be. Our server just neglected us we had to ask an other server to check on our food. Never came back until we finished our food never offered extra water or asking if we would like to get anything else. We have to ask someone else to get our check. The servers should be retrained otherwise the restaurant will lose customers. Christmas Eve dinner my drink was a glass full of ice with a minimum amount of alcohol in it. It has a reason why is the bar always empty. They should hire some good and experienced bartenders. I called the restaurant when I got home after a very disappointing New Year's Day Brunch. I spoke to Laura (GM) instead of listening what I wanted to tell her she talked over me and didn't even let me finish what I wanted to tell her. Cut me short and basically brushed me off. Laura sounds like she didn't care about my complaint. I'm Hungarian with an accent but I shouldn't be treated differently than anybody else! We're regular customers in this restaurant but after this experience I would never go back! It's definitely their loss not mine! Luck of service no respect for customers! I hope the owner of the restaurant will read this and fix the problems! read more

Played it safe w a burger and it kinda sucked. Huge bun, definitely not grass fed beef lol. French onion soup was above average. Service was below average. Under staffed assume they can't get help. Just held my daughter's bridal shower there and what a beautiful event it turned out to be. The venue is so pretty that it does not require much decoration for any kind of event. The food was amazing- guests could not stop talking about how delicious everything was. The service was top notch with hands to help set up and clean up as well as staying on top of refreshing water and drinks and clearing plates. Nice, new addition to Islip village. They opened back in June, from the former Maxwells. Food is really fantastic, we had the duck tacos and clams on the half shell for apps and the burger and the swordfish for entrees. I ordered the Scottish cure cocktail, was really well made. Service is excellent as well, very attentive, and not rushed. Really pretty interior, everything was done up quite nicely.There was a private event going on and it wasn't loud or too crazy at all. FYI the tacos are tiny- but they are tiny in a good way. If your expecting street taco size tortillas, it's not like that. They're more like crunchy wonton wrappers with filling. That being said, the duck is so rich in flavor that if there were any more to it they'd be too much. We left very satisfied and full to just the right amount. Don't miss this one! read more

My fiancé and I had our engagement party at Bayberry this past Saturday and it was truly a memorable experience. Everything was AMAZING! Melissa, the Catering Sales Manager, was very responsive throughout the entire planning process and worked with us to deliver everything we asked for. Brittany, Ashley, and Gianna who worked the party were SO attentive, friendly, and truly took care of everything - they really allowed us to relax and enjoy our guests/experience. The party ran so smoothly. We have bee told non-stop how GREAT the food was (specifically the sliders and the Bayberry Chicken were a huge hit). Guests were also really impressed with the atmosphere and renovations. We felt the space accommodated our guest count of 50 people perfectly and allowed for a cohesive flow. We will always remember our time spent at Bayberry and will be recommending the restaurant to friends/family in the future. read more

We made reservations,and went with another couple there was four of us we Were sat at a very small table, and when the waitress came over, she told us they just launched the fall menu.. and then told us one of the 3 fall entrées was already sold out at 7:00. We ordered cocktails and And my husband ordered a beer ... which they said they ran out of.. so he picked another one which the waitress came back and said they ran out of that one too!!! Tried out Bayberry last night. The remodel of the old Maxwells is now very bright. Nice remodel but seems very cold, something is missing. There is no art or decoration anywhere. It seems as if they're trying to go for a more high brow clientele. The bar is huge & there was only 2 or 3 people at it. The entire other side of the restaurant was empty & the lights were dimmed on that side. We sat at a booth & the staff were friendly enough. The menu is more geared towards seafood. Other than seafood it was not very exciting. Typical hamburger & pasta dishes. One dish we ordered was the Lemon Artichoke spaghetti. It is offered in Half ($13) or Full ($24) portions. We got the full. As soon as it came I saw they had given us the smaller portion. I tried to get our waitress's attention to no avail. Finally, the manager recognized us & came over. I had told him that we had accidentally gotten the smaller size. He then replied sheepishly, that actually was the full plate. It was a literal handful of pasta. He did offer us more if we'd like. Nice gesture but, don't offer, just do. Even though the portions were silly & the Place is trying to be something they are not.... If he woulda just brought out about $1.50 worth of pasta, we woulda stayed for dessert & coffee & cordials. The staff including the manager seemed young & inexperienced to higher end dining. I popped in with a friend around 2pm and was met with three very confused and what seemed to be distressed hostesses?... hours said noon-10 but they seemed confused as to why were were there... Well designed place just VERY bright - no real love or charm just clean pintristy interior designer with a decent budget. No real theme just kinda going for what works with the price points I guess lol Drinks were mediocre but the best part was we got to listen to the chefs meeting in the dining room. He was loud, he was pretentious, he spoke about pricing "this costs me 8$ we charge $32 I know what I'm doing" as if the restaurant was empty or we were invisible. I get it have your meeting before dinner service but don't be in earshot if customers... if you do don't talk about pricing - super unprofessional imo On to the food - burger was mediocre AT ABSOLUTE BEST... salmon was kinda dry and also pretty mediocre ... I'd probably go back for drinks but I'd be hesitant to order off the menu ! read more

Food is delicious! Ambiance excellent! Service was above and beyond! The dishes were absolutely wonderful presentation and absolutely delicious! Staff and GM were awesome! Go have a drink at the bar and sample the appetizers! Especially the tuna tacos and crab all fresh and delicious! I had a tuna poke bowl with udon noodles that was awesome! My friend had the paella style salmon and her grandson had the salmon filet! Each dish was delicious! Trust me this restaurant is amazing!!! read more

This place is beautiful and has a very nice atmosphere. I went for a birthday and the service was good. I do think the portion size was kind of small. Bayberry (formerly Maxwell's) just reopened and is awesome! the updated decor is bright and looks sharp. I had the parker house rolls and french dip which were both delicious.
