I loooove this place! First off the best thing they do is clean out the charger port of your phone for free so it can hold a charger cable well after it gets fuzz and dirt build up after a while! THAT in and of itself makes me love them cause an iPhone repair charges for that. But I've also been replacing the battery in my manual Fossil wristwatch for 16 years and I only paid around $20 once for a lifetime replacement membership for the life of this watch. DO NOT! I REPEAT, DO NOT GRT ANYTHING REPAIRED AT BATTERIES PLUS. My friend took his iPad there to get fixed since he broke the screen and screen only. When he got it back, the screen had bubbles underneath the glass and the home button that was working perfectly was not inoperable. They argued with me that the button didn't feel like it did because the iPad wasn't turned on. I argued with them in the store with the manager until he shoved the iPad into me and stated he would give my friend a full refund and blacklisted both of us. IT GETS BETTER. KEEP READING. I took it to my friend that IS an authorized Apple Service Provider and when he went to fix the button found that Batteries Plus hack up an old guitar pick and shoved it under the home button to give it a spring. Drove across town, and the tech refused to service my phone saying my battery was fine and that I had too many apps open. Thought it was unusual they would decline my business and money, so I went on my way. Came home to research the matter, and see that closing apps on your phone not only doesn't help battery life, but can make it worse. This has been established by both Google and Apple, as well as independent tech journalists and benchmark engineers. It turns out I do in fact need a new battery. However, this time around when they Fixed the screen and "cleaned" the port; we noticed the phone wasn't charging when we got home. We took it back to ask if they can fix it- They just denied responsibility and were very rude and UNPROFESSIONAL (especially a lady named Bailey). Before the Covid lock-down, I would visit 4 times a year to buy motorcycle batteries, car batteries, flashlight batteries, etc. If something did not work, they were happy to give you a full refund. I brought my remote entry viper fob to the store today, and the gentleman pried it open without checking to see if even at the battery. He didn't have the battery, refused to order it, and he damaged my fob where he pried it open with a pocket knife. Truly unimpressive do not recommend. read more

My family has been buying batteries and bulbs at the location @ 7915 Burnet Rd Austin, TX 78757 for three decades. But NO MORE. It's a given BPB's batteries are more expensive than anywhere else in town -- even routine batteries like AAA, C, etc. I tolerated that because I really liked this store for its customer service when it came to installing certain batteries, in this case, for my 87-year old Mom's watch! I went to the store, and in chit chat with the employees, did let them know I had been shopping at this location for 30-plus years. They didn't seem to care at all - no surprise there. (PS- I was the only customer in the store at the time so they were not busy) An employee replaced the battery, and proclaimed (like he was doing me some big favor) that the watch was working now. GREAT! That's the service I am paying for ! I never saw the watch ticking....I just dropped it off at my Mom's house and kept running errands. A few short minutes after drop off, she calls me to say her watch is NOT working. So, I bring it back to the store - with the receipt, tell the counter employee (no manager /owner there) this very simple story, ask for a refund, and he wants to go in to trench warfare with me on refunding me the entire amount ! WHY??? And, the employee who installed the battery in my Mom's watch and bragged about fixing it was standing 6 feet away from the other employee and did not speak up one word ! Why not simply say, "You know what, we made a mistake, we apologize for that, and we'll gladly refund your money as a longtime customer." My car battery died this morning and I had to come get a new battery for it. I ordered it online because you get a discount if you place the order for pick up in store. They have coupon codes everywhere. It was fairly priced with the discount and the mail in rebate that it was about the same price or just slightly more expensive to Sam's Club and Costco. I choose to buy my battery here because the particular battery I was getting had a battery warranty here. It was fairly simple to stop in and pick it up. The reason why I'm not giving it a 4 star is because there was an advertised mail-in rebate online but the guy didn't give me any information regarding the rebate. I realized I didn't get anything on my receipt after we had already driven away in rush hour and the rain. So I called back to ask about the rebate. Me: "Hello, I was just in there to pick up my battery and online it said there was a mail in rebate, but I didn't get any information regarding it." BPB Employee: "Yeah" Great thanks, uh I'd like to know how I get the rebate. "Oh, he didn't give you a card?" Nope. He told me I had to come back and get the mail in rebate card. I asked if there was any way to fill it out online and not have to return. Nope. You have to come back in. Well let's just say that it's 2017 and sure turns out that you can fill out the rebate online. Thanks guy. The rebate deal was frustrating, but otherwise I hope it's a good battery. Also note, that they charge a $3 environmental fee (that is required by the state) but it doesn't charge you online, so they have to do an adjustment when you get there. I had an appointment to get my phone screen repaired at 7:30 PM. I am not sure why they offer extended hours- as I handed my phone over, the support person seemed irritated and said "well I will see what I can do since I'm leaving in 28 minutes. I went back in 30 minutes later, and all he managed to do was make it so that my phone no longer turned on and said they were closed, and I should come back tomorrow. Best place in Austin to have your girlfriend's battery replaced. (OK, now that I have your undivided attention...) Actually, I visited this Batteries Plus location yesterday in a desperate search for a replacement switch seal for my Mag Lite night stick--I mean flashlight. Sadly, they don't sell Mag Lite brand flashlights, so they didn't have the part I needed. It was worth a try. What they did have was great, friendly customer service. They could have just told me "have a nice day", but, instead, one of the employees took the time to look up and write down the name of GT Distributors, which sells parts for the brand of flashlights (Streamlight) they do carry. When I got home, I checked online, and GT Distributors has a showroom in Austin. Sure enough, their website indicates they should have exactly the Mag Lite part I need--for 95 cents. Too bad GT isn't open on the weekends. While I was waiting, another customer came in to retrieve a cordless power tool battery pack Batteries Plus had repaired for him by reattaching a loose wire--at no charge. That prompted me to ask if they could refurbish my Makita cordless power packs. They can--if they are not sonically welded; unfortunately mine are. However, they have a compatible Ray-O-Vac replacement battery pack that I later found to be competitively priced with online offerings, and much cheaper than at other retailers in town. I walked in empty-handed, and left the same way--with the exception I had gotten some great free advice that I can immediately leverage. Thanks, Batteries Plus! Battery had just dipped into the red zone and one of my buttons is beginning to wear out - but a new battery installed and I am good to go. Listen Batteries Plus, you made me drive up and down Burnet because you didn't have the necessary tools to change out my car battery - though you said you did when I called ahead of time. I had to ghetto it up and drive to a car repair shop and ask them to unbolt my battery, then drive back for the battery (because you weren't sure it would fit) and then go full circle back to the car repair shop to get the one little bolt re-tightened. Then, you still wanted to charge me an install fee (but didn't after I asked) because you lifted the battery in and out from under my hood. Even more impressive: please go get your incompetent tool that you dropped (and obviously left) in my engine compartment off of Burnet. I heard it clinkity clanking through my car and saw it doing somersaults down the road, all in the fading distance, with a mind of its own .... ... gives a whole new meaning to ghetto fabulous. read more

Do you remember the classic Saturday Night Live sketch with Gilda Radner called "The Scotch Boutique?" Where she and Fred Willard ran a mall store that sold nothing but Scotch Tape? Well, this place is pretty much "The Battery Boutique." If you had told me this franchise was some kind of Richard Branson inside joke, I might have believed you. They sure do have a lot of batteries here. I needed an odd battery for my car key remote, my Walgreen's, HEB, and WalMart didn't have it, so I stopped by this Burnet BP store on a whim. $3.89 later, my remote was as good as new. The other two customers in the place appeared to be replacing watch batteries, which apparently is a good deal here too. Well, neato. On one hand, I want to give this place five-stars for having a bunch of different batteries in stock and its convenience, with five other BP stores around town; on the other hand, how many times will I come here for odd batteries? It's hard to beat the price of the usual suspects at a Walgreen's, especially on sale, and I know I'm probably not coming back here to replace my car or iPhone battery. This has to be one of the most boring places to work. I was the only customer upon entering, and throughout my experience here. There were three guys behind the counter, one of whom took a stance behind the register to greet me. The other two were excitedly chit chatting about something or another. They quickly fled to the back room when I walked up. I approached the counter and the guy waiting, unenthused, to help me with my watch battery change (it actually has 2 batteries). I told him what I needed and he immediately went to work, saying nothing at all. I took the time to peruse the selection of batteries and battery accessories. Yup, they sure have a lot of batteries and battery accessories. The laptop batteries were difficult to decipher which type of computers they go with, I guess that's where the true customer service should kick in. It was about 3 minutes after the completion of my perusal that the guy finished my battery change. Nicely, he set the watch to the correct time before returning it to me. Here, our exchange became verbal. He explained that for one battery only, the price would've been $6.99, but because it was 2 batteries, he was charging for two. I expected no less, actually. Still pretty inexpensive, if I recall, less than having them changed at the store where the watch is from. I asked about battery life and he pointed out that it is dependent on the usage and even sun exposure. Something I'd never thought about before! I called Batteries Plus on 7915 Burnet Rd. on May 11 looking for an unusual battery I figured most places wouldn't have. I talked to Scott, who I later found out was the manager. I asked if he had a CB3-12 (12V, 3AH/R20) battery. He said they did. Different size batteries can have the same ratings, so I asked SPECIFICALLY if this one measured about 4 1/2" X 2 1/2" X 1 1/2'. He told me it did. After driving 18 miles from Manor, I got to the Burnet Rd. location. Scott had left for the day. An employee showed me the single 12V, 3AH/R20 battery they had in the store. It was about the size of a child's shoebox, not even close to what I had asked for. I asked if they had another battery that could have been confused with this one. She said no. Lots of time and gas wasted. Order on-line before you trust this store. read more

To be fair, I've been going here for years. While the prices may not be the cheapest around, the service is great and the convenience is worth it. My issue? They are running a promotion where you get both a free light bulb and a free package of batteries "subject to availability". Surprise! They're out of both the bulb and the batteries. They told me that they hope to get more batteries later in the week, if I want to come back. Thanks... This particular Batteries Plus nearly doubled their price on their standard watch battery replacement from $8.99 to $15.99 effective August 2015. I got a really bad feeling from the young gentleman at the counter since he was clearly trying to push the $15.99 lifetime warranty price so I contacted management. The manager said that "all Batteries Plus" stores are now charging $15.99 for this "lifetime warranty" service. So, I called his bluff. I went to the next closest Batteries Plus, got my watch battery replaced for $8.99. If you go to any other Batteries Plus, you can still get a one-time watch battery replacement for $8.99. It was that simple. Just go to any other Battery Plus, excluding this one on Burnet. So sad because I used to really enjoy going to this one. Maybe the management and staff at this location is pressured to upsell the "lifetime warranty" watch repair. It's not a terribly bad price for lifetime warranty, but customers should have the option to choose. Luckily, at any other Batteries Plus store in Austin (except for this one) you have a choice. Leaving my review below since it's still accurate for other Batteries Plus stores in town. Tip: In the process, I also researched other places in Austin, and I actually found a GREAT place called Time Masters that's locally owned, highly rated, AND less expensive than Batteries Plus. read more
