I came to batteries plus with a DEPLORABLE car battery. It was completly dead, corrosion everywhere fusing parts together, and an extremely difficult project. I have been going to this place for at least 15 years and while a batteries and bulbs store seems very limited in purpose, Batteries Plus on South Lamar is anything but limiting to me. This trip I took my iPhone 8 (yeah, I'm old too) because I thought the charging port needed replacement. I got a quote on the phone and went expecting to spend around $100. Instead the attendant (Jason I think) said let's verify that's the problem. He immediately cleaned the port out removing years of lint build up, plugged it in and it began charging. He fixed it and did not charge me. Not saying he can fix your iPhone for free but he knows what he is doing (been there 16 years). Not sure I could have gotten that result anywhere else. read more

Today I went to this batteries Plus on south Lamar because the one on Brodie closed a year ago. I went to have the batteries on 2 key fobs changed out that I get replaced annually and my wife's watch battery. The guy who waited on me was excellent he noticed the watch was still moving so he checked it and it was fine changed out 2 key Fobs batteries so I'm good for another year. I change them out on my registration month so I never have to remember when I changed them out so cheap insurance. He was super friendly and I was in and out quickly. He could of changed out the watch battery even though it didn't need but was honest and provided good customer service, I will be back for sure. read more

Batteries Plus Bulbs had an obscure battery for my thermometer and their pricing wasn't terrible for a local place that had it in stock same day. But compared to online it was pretty bad, I could have had 10x or more for the same price. But anyway, no problem I get it. I came in during Covid-19 times and called when outside as instructed, and the guy seemed really put off with bringing the battery to my car, which is what the email told me I had to do. I dunno, maybe the guy was having a rough day, but I was pretty put off that me supporting their business was such a negative to him. Hopefully I'm just reading the situation wrong, but I was pretty bummed to know that my presence was enough to put someone in a bad mood. read more

Awful service. I called in a week prior to my visit to check on part availability. They stated they would follow up to confirm when they arrived and was given an ETA of 2 days. They never followed up and I had to confirm 7 days later that the parts were ready. I was told my 3 fixes would take 1.5 hours and then they recommended the coffees shop down the street while I waited. When I arrived, they tried to talk me out of the fixes I needed. This is a work phone and it should have been charged under a work ticket but there was no recollection of this corporate agreement. They confirmed they would change my camera lens and battery. I left for the hour and a half and mistakenly left my car in the lot. I returned and was informed that they only changed my battery and that changing the lens on a camera "is difficult because it is soldered in." All iPhones are. I was baffled. I came to have 3 fixes and only had one completed. When I returned to my car, I had been booted and the attendant was waiting for me. $100 for removal. (My fault, but while I'm complaining, might as well include). TLDR: don't park at the store, don't use this store, if you are there, look out for the creepy parking attendant that waits for you to leave the premises. read more

Appalling anti-mask behavior in the middle of a giant Delta surge. I need a new battery installed in my iPad. After calling to check stock, I stopped by this store (2300 S Lamar Blvd, Suite 103, Austin, TX 78704) a little after 2pm on Wed. Aug. 18, 2021. There was a picture of a mask on the front door. I masked up, went in, and was greeted by an unmasked guy by the back counter. I told him I was there for a new iPad battery and handed him my iPad. I then asked if he would mind putting on a mask. "Yes, I would mind," he replied. "You won't put on a mask?" I asked. "No, I'm not gonna do that," he replied. I was incredulous, this being the middle of a giant Delta surge here in Austin. I told him I was taking my iPad back and taking my business elsewhere. He encouraged me to do just that. I also said that I was going to report this incident and asked for his name. "I'm not gonna give it to you," he replied. "You won't wear a mask and you won't give me your name???" I asked. From behind dark glass in front of a repair station another guy piped up, "We can't be made to do that!" I was about to explode at this point. I left the store, took out my phone to take a picture of the address and the mask picture on the door, and then it occurred to me that, since he wouldn't give me his name, I could take a picture of this guy. I walked back in with my phone, pointed it at him and took a picture, which caused him to shout at me, "You're sick, you know that? You're sick!! You're really sick!!!" Only after I had left did it occur to me that, in fact, I was doing all I could NOT to be sick. Since he would not give me his name, I am posting the one blurry picture I was able to get of this guy. I wish I could give this place zero stars. The store in Ann Arbor Michigan did a horrible job with my iPhone screen replacement, so I had to get it redone down here in Austin. The new screen I received worked perfectly fine, however, two days late my phone fell out of my pocket onto a thin carpeted floor and shattered, there was even glass pieces that fell off of the phone! Now my phone has no touch reaction and I have to use siri for everything. The materials they use are horrible quality. I have been in several Battery Plus locations in town and find this location on South Lamar the BEST!! Extremely polite, kind and knowledgeable team work at this location with superb team members: Sterling and the store's manager, Mr. Nick! At top of the team is Sterling: the BEST salesman and an incredible technician with a right attitude and aptitude! He is very creative and fast in fixing my cell phone and my watches. Recently he put a battery in my car which has a better longevity and brand (Duracell) and a lot less expensive than other places like Sears or Auto zone! Other team members that I have worked with are Patrick, Richard, and Mance. They are great in what they do. Patrick and Richard work very hard to satisfy their customers and provide best customer service. Patrick is very smart with his technical work, he also is a musician playing guitar and is a vocalist performing around town, Richard is on the shy side a bit, but he sure knows his stuff. Such customer service initiates from Nick as he has good grasp of taking care of his customers and his employees. He explained that the battery I had in it was more than I needed, and I replaced it with a more modestly priced battery, AND the acid was already mixed and the battery was already charged. I made a beeline for Batteries Plus on S. Lamar. These guys rule! Their selection is massive, and the employees couldn't be more helpful. Upon entering the store, I was given a heartfelt "howdy!" and then personally guided to the section of the store where I could find a replacement. Finding my particular battery out of stock, the employee said, "Let me see what I can do." Two minutes later he found an open-box item behind the counter, tested it to make sure it still worked, and gave it to me gratis. They could order them and it ranged from $84-$98 for this particular size and that would not include installation. I called Batteries Plus on S. Lamar and they had it in stock for $89 and FREE installation. I was there in a heartbeat. Friendly staff, quick check out and I was outta there in less than 5 minutes. Awesome!! Drive too fast on S. Took an iPhone for a screen replacement after the phone had an unfortunate encounter with the dishwasher. The screen had some glitches (responding much, much later to swipes, freezing). Took the phone back two days later and they said that it must be a faulty screen. They offered to replace the replacement, and it's now as good as new!
