This evening my car battery died right at the gas station pump as I was filling up. After getting a jump, I drove straight to AutoZone, anxious that my car might not start again. It was late, nearly closing time, and already dark outside. The employee there, Petrit, told me they typically don't replace car batteries after dark. But when I explained what had happened, and he saw how stressed I was, he offered to help regardless of the policy. This Auto Zone was a life saver this past Sunday, 11/10. My car notified me that the engine coolant was low and needed it to be refilled asap. I stopped in and told the associate my issue. I came about an hour before closing, had quite a list, brake pads, oil filter, cabin filter, diff fluid, oil, etc. I had a possibly Russian guy with the accent he had, white guy, he was definitely rushing me. I specifically said I don't want STP oil filter, that's the cheapest filter and he started naming oil brands that don't even make oil filters, but I said just give me Mobil 1. He ended up giving me a STP filter because it had a deal I guess, and at that time it was about 20min to closing. so I just said yea it's fine, normally I'd never buy a STP filter. I had already grabbed my diff oil, the remainder 5qts of the oil I needed for my vehicle, and some seafoam. it just seemed like he was in a big hurry to get out, I didn't quite get what I had wanted, but I didn't complain. Also when I gave him the exact make and model of my car for brake pads like I've been doing for the last 10 years, for some reason he was telling me there was two different basic versions, and it wasn't until his partner pulled up my history that I got my standard pads. If you're a woman, please do not come here alone. I came to this AutoZone when the sun was down to get a new battery, I was working with the Russian or Ukrainian man peteri. I asked if he could help me replace the battery.(I wasn't aware that AutoZone doesn't charge for things like that) he then proceeds to tell me that because it's dark outside, no one can do it and that the mechanic that "works" for AutoZone has left already and usually charges 80$, but he was willing to do it for 50$ I told him that I only brought $250 and the battery was getting was 240$, he tells me that he can give me a cheaper battery and gave me an employee discount. With the total cost of battery being about 180$.. As he is replacing my battery I asked him if it was possible to get a receipt so I can get my money back for the person that I'm buying the battery he said that it was not possible.. when he finished replacing the battery he then tells me he won't charge me 50 but he'll charge me 40 I then asked him if it's OK that I take a video of him letting me know that he charged me $40. He immediately snapped and was like why do you need a video just tell them the mechanic charged you which gave me an uncomfortable feeling so I decided to go speak with the manager. I didn't get his name, but he's was a very short Mexican with glasses.. the manager then proceeds to tell me that he shouldn't have charged me so he doesn't know why he charged me, He even asked to see the video (as if he didn't believe me) I expressed to him that I didn't care about the money It's the fact that I was a woman, and he thought I was stupid to play me like that That's not OK, especially knowing that he's probably doing it to many other women!! Not once did he confront Peteri he just told me to just come back the next day when the store manager Abraham was there so I can inform Abraham and solve the problem. This Autozone is always solid. Sometimes they have trouble picking up their phone but anytime you go in I feel like all the employees are attentive and helpful. I had an alternator break down at around closing time and they were still nice enough to sell me one and let me fix it in their parking lot. This is a good Autozone and I frequently come back here for my car care needs. The prices here are also slightly cheaper than the Advance Auto next door, however their selection is not as large. read more

Stopped by yesterday afternoon for coolant and oil. Caesar was the best! My oil cap was on tight and i couldn't get it off so at the check-out I asked if he might be able to assist me. He went over and beyond with me. He followed me to my car loaded my coolant, took off my oil cap and literally stood with me for about 7-8 mins as he poured and checked the oil level to make sure I was good. He spoke with me about a flush I might want to look into at my next oil change and checked my wiper fluid level and power steering levels which I ended up needing a slight bit of. My low light head light was blown out, and I'd gotten pulled over because of it the night before I came to this Autozone to purchase a new headlight bulb. I didn't get the employee's name, but from what I gathered he was new. Not only did he have kind and knowledgeable service skills... he also installed my bulb. It took him about 20 min. I finally was able to get Roadside assistance who jumped it off and then was able to go to AutoZone. there I met up with Junior, who was very cordial and efficient. Autozone says they are THE place to go if want help diagnosing your "check-engine" light, but what I experienced at this Autozone was the employees don't value those customers. So even if waited in line for help they'll move you aside and help everyone else first - and shift you as last priority. Plus when you tell them you'll take your business elsewhere due to the lack of customer service, they don't really care. That doesn't sound right. Wednesday night, about 9pm, my "check-engine" light comes on, I was on Parmer Lane and stopped into this Autozone to ask for help. I walk in to find 2 employees working, 2 people are waiting in line to be helped (I step in behind them as #3), and 2 additional people are being helped at the register. After several minutes of waiting 2 new customers come in and stand in line behind me. My turn approaches so I step up and asked the employee if he could help me diagnose my "check-engine" light. The employee looks at the line behind me and says: "well.....let me help these people first and then we can deal with that.....". Hmmm.......I was confused. I respond: "That doesn't make sense, I've already waited in line, it's my turn for help, and now you want me to go to the back of the line and wait again until you've helped everyone else first?". He said: "yes". I said: "no - - that's not right, and if you won't help me now then I'm going to leave and go home". His response: "Okay". So I walked out. So I guess Autozone's philosophy (on prioritizing and helping customers) is that if you ever need your "check-engine" light diagnosed (or any other type of help that requires them to diagnose) is that you're not a priority to them until everyone else in the store has been helped out first, which contradicts the current queuing system they have in place (called a "line"). That's not good customer service. But what's even worse is that once I had emphasized my disappointment, and threatened to leave so they would lose my business, the employee simply didn't care and gave me his blessing to leave. Bless his heart that I'm not the owner or manager of this store. So Autozone just made it really easy for me to shift all of my business over to someone who appreciates it, Advanced Auto. They're all over Austin, and I've never had a customer service issue there, thank you for narrowing down my choices. read more

After having trouble with my battery I knew it was time to look into getting a new one. After having a bad experience at another autozone, I was pleasantly surprised to meet Kristen who went above and beyond to make sure my problems were addressed. Isaac M was awesome! I walked into autozone to pray that my car wasn't busted beyond repair. Isaac, who I later found out was in mechanic school helped diagnose my car issue to a buster #2 coil for my engine which saved me 4000 on a new engine. Car is now working fine for the most part. He ran that little machine that runs the codes to see what's wrong with the car. He also told me that my O2 censor or catalytic converter isn't working properly. I ordered parts to be shipped to this store from another one of their locations. While checking out, the employee ringing me up casually started talking on a cell phone the customer behind me handed him. I was told I would get a call once the parts came in, but it shouldn't take too long. A week goes by and I don't get a call, so I decided to call and see what is happening. I am told I have the wrong store, but eventually a different employee on the phone that initially rang me up is able to figure out that the guy who initially sold the parts rang it up wrong. He apologized, saying no parts ever take this long to come in, and that he will personally go pick up 1 of the parts from the location and special order the other part, and that his manager will give me a call, again apologizing for the inconvenience. A few more days go by and no call. I call, and the guy on the other end of the phone is the one who initially rang me up. He says no order has been placed, and I start explaining the situation to him. He starts just saying "mmhmm mmhhmm" As if what I'm telling him doesn't matter. He says he will order the part. He then tells ME, the guy who has already paid and has been waiting 2 weeks at this point for my parts, to call back later because the store is busy!!!!!!! Another 2 days go by, and I call again. This time it's a different person on the phone. I am SURPRISE SURPRISE once again calling to check to see if my parts are there. Initially she says no, but ends up finding the part that was ordered. Finally after arriving to the store, I get to the store and there is a line of 6 people, with only 1 person working the register. The poor solo guy at the register is calling out for help very loudly for the other employee to get out of the bathroom, and come help. Now...I am empathetic if some one has a bathroom emergency...but I did not expect to have to wait THIRTY MINUTES for this guy to get out of the bathroom...and you wouldn't believe who it was. It was the employee who when ringing me up, was on the phone. It was the employee who when I called for the 3rd time to ask where the hell my parts where, told me to call later because they were busy. I tell him I'm here for my parts I ordered 3 weeks ago, low and behold? only 1 part. Can't find the other part. He offers to order it again...this will be the 4th time some one has told me this part has been ordered. I demand a return, and while he is returning me my money, him and his other coworker bust out cigarettes because they are about to go on a smoke break and he's making sure his cigarette is packed. For 10 years of my life, I worked these kinds of retail jobs. I've seen a LOT of shit. I have NEVER, EVER witnessed this absolute garbage level of customer service IN. MY. LIFE. At this point, I am so livid, I call Auto Zone customer service when I get home and say I want to file a complaint. I am told the district manager will call me. Here I am, 2 weeks after being told the DM will call me, with no call. Auto Zone seems to be about as good as dealing with customer complaints as they are with ordering parts. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN will I be shopping at Auto Zone. Short the FUCK outa Auto Zone stock, and LONG LIVE ROCK AUTO! To add to all this, I had a battery tested here before this "customer experience" incident, and they told me it was good. Car didn't start the next morning. read more

I'd highly recommend the auto store next door. They are cool and helpful. This review is well deserved. The employees I've dealt with here have terrible people skills. If you like your existence not being acknowledged when you're in a line, not even a glance this is your spot. I'm in the checkout behind one guy. Took the only two employees 5 min + to figure out his not-complicated transaction. 5 or 6 people come in for the help line. Both employees walk away, and proceed to clear the slow help line when I need a 5 second checkout. They should be embarrassed at their social interaction and logic for processing people first chronologically and not having emotions like a smile or not dead eyes. Months ago I bought a pair of wiper blade in the same store I went today AZ 3104. I was driving and my left side flew off, I decided to go in the same store at 1819 w Parmer lane. I asked to the lady (her badge said she was the manager) to help me because I didn't know the brand was , she went to my car to check and didn't know what kind was, she said ironically you didn't buy over here and had no warranty for that part. I said: I am 100% sure I bought in this store and in this location and an employee helped me and installed the wiper blade for me and I was not asking for warranty. I asked her what kind I supposed to buy and she sold me one of completely different model. She apparently was not happy working and helping me and asked to another employee the name Nathan F. to keep helping me. I was very patience and polite to her, she was cold and ironic. Didn't even said thank you or anything, no manners for a manager.Mr. Nathan notice what model I was looking for and found the right one, he switched the wrong one Mrs. Store manager sold me. I asked him, why that unhappy person with no knowledge was a manager. What make someone neglect and unprofessional became a manager? If didn't have an employee as Mr. Nathan I would never come back in any auto zone. The corporation should know we have tons of options to buy auto parts, for reasons like that, not having to deal with unprofessional people, buying online is a great option.
