My girlfriend and I decided to come to Batifol for NYE dinner. It was $92 pp with $35 pp if you wanted to do the wine pairing, which I did. In the beginning, service was prompt. We sat, looked over menus, ordered drinks and received some comp bread, then we chose what we wanted from the prix fix menu. All is well at this point. The amuse bouche arrived with the apps and the food was amazing. However, after that first course that's when things started going downhill. We finished our first course and left the plates at the side of the table, and they did not get picked up until after we finished we second course, so by that time we had about 6 plates plus 2 bowls just hanging around our table, and it was only cleared because when the entrees came out they had to place to put them. The wine pairings came late, one came after I finished the course and another came mid course, and we also had to ask for things multiple times, such as water refills, new utensils. When we did receive service though it was very friendly, however the hard part was receiving it in the first place. This was our 2nd time coming to Batifol, and the first time we were so impressed thus prompting us to patron this place for a special dinner, unfortunately the service, or lack thereof was just a poor experience. read more

Wish I had come here sooner. I went for the oyster happy hour special with my friend and we also got some food for dinner. We split a bottle of Pinot grigio for $40. We got two dozen oysters for $24. We got the escargo appetizer and the duck entree. Everything was so good. The dining room is very clean and intimate feeling and the lighting is so nice. The menu for the drinks was extensive and we found a great bottle for us. The bread that they served on the table was delicious and it had these nice sunflower seeds in it. The waiter was very very nice and they were very helpful because we ordered so much that it was hard to keep it all on our little table. The oysters were great. Only a few of them had some shell so they were pretty well shucked. It was really nice to split all of that and really go all out with a friend. The bathroom was also very nice and clean. I absolutely would come back here I wish I had come here sooner The mignonette served with the oysters had a sweet berry like a raspberry juice inside of it. It was very good. The escargo was served on top of brioche so all the garlic butter really soft in to the piece of sweet bread and it was so so good. I mean I took a piece of snail and it just melted in my mouth. The duck was salty and a little crunchy on the outside. I really liked it and it was very juicy on the inside and it was very nice of the kitchen to split it into two plates for us. The beans and carrots were also very nice and I liked the pear that they put on top of the laminated piece of potato thing. Came here for the brunch at clearly one of the busiest times around 1pm. We did have a reservation and the table was at the far back. The general vibe was extremely loud, too loud personally for me and kinda hectic and the layout feels too crowded. If you're expecting a more relaxing, peaceful, calm "Parisian" ambiance, you may prefer this restaurant at a different time and setting. The buffet section runs right down the center of the restaurant and there are a lot of staff constantly bustling around you. There's just a lot of movement. Regular coffee, tea and orange juice are included in the buffet, yet there was no hot water for the tea and the coffee container was completely empty. The orange juice was mia. For $38 per person, I honestly find it disappointing and slightly annoying when you need to have to ask for a basic such as hot water and also have to tell someone there's no coffee left. I will say the food is nice, but the constant buffet traffic means that the presentation of the food suffers. I will say that the server who assisted us was pleasant and friendly. If you enjoy a loud, slightly chaotic brunch vibe, it might be up your alley, but for me it's comme ci comme ça and thus a pretty average 3 stars. read more

The food here is extremely good. When I have been in the dining room is crowded with large groups of people and the noise level is beyond energetic. The tables are very small. The space between tables is uncomfortably small. There is a constant reshuffling of tables. The service is kind but overwhelmed. It's easy for them to lose requests. I don't think I will come back as a diner in a group of 2 or 4. Server had a bobble with a stack of used dishes and spilled food down my coat, which I noticed after leaving. I wished I found this place sooner! I came with a group of friends for dinner. It was on a weekday night but the restaurant was full with some waiting at the door! It kind of shows how popular it is! The menu has many choices. Anything under The French classics is amazingly delicious. I tried beef bourguignon and it was soft, juicy, and full of flavor! I loved the mushroom coming with it the best. All in all, it is best beef bourguignon I've had so far. Their French fries are extraordinary. It is crunchy with special seasoning which makes it outstanding. I am usually not a French fries person but cannot help to eat quite some! The drinks and deserts are good too and served quickly. But please note this is not a spacious restaurant. We were assigned to a few lines up tiny round tables for group seating, which was not big enough space for plates and drinks. My wife and I recently had dinner at Batifol. I had read in a yelp review that the food was great but the wait staff wasn't, and this turned out to be true for us as well. After being seated we were promptly brought water and menus, but then left for somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes, at which point I got up to flag our server so we could place our order. This was 6:15 on a Sunday, and the place was not busy. The decor is charming and clever, recalling a Parisian subway station. It brought us both back to the many times we have spent in Paris. We ordered Gravelax Salmon, a house salad, Moules frites, and Coq au Vin. We enjoyed all of them very much. For dessert we ordered the Croissant Bread Pudding, served with Creme Anglaise. When the order arrived it was without the Creme, and we called this to our waiter's attention. Initially he said the dish didn't come this way, and when we said the Menu says it does, he said he would get some. The problem turned out to be that the kitchen was out of Creme Anglaise. At this point all that needed to happen was to let us know what the situation was, and to say simply, "we are sorry we didn't let you know when you ordered." We would have understood. But Batifol doubled down: we were brought whipped cream and told it was Creme Anglaise. Again, there was a back and forth with the waiter, and it was only then that he told us there wasn't any in the kitchen. We didn't eat the dessert. We visited during Dineout Boston. This was my second visit to Batifol. The first visit was 2022 few weeks after they opened. I am a big fan of french restaurants. Personally, it wasn't impressive at the first visit so I didn't plan for the second visit but went for my friend during Dineout. Escargot was the dish I go for in all french restaurants. It was just okay, could be better. Carrot salad was excellent! But not sure if they have in regular menu, which I couldn't find. French burger - also not in the regular menu - was unique with the touch of brie. Grilled pork chop was better than I expected. It was bit salty but was great combination with mashed potatoes and mustard sauce. Out of all Dineout menus, I liked carrot salad and pork chop which seems like not available from regular menu but also due to this reason, I am glad that I tried during Dineout. I tried to taste other dishes from my first visit. I had beef tartare, mussels, beef bourguignon, escargots de bourgogne, creme brulee, ice-creams at the first visit. All dishes were okay. Food: we tried a couple items on their restaurant week items which honestly felt like they kind of half assed. It was $27 for three which is a pretty great deal for what you're getting, but I truly feel like it wasn't as well presented as I thought it would be. The escargot was just soaked in butter, and the proportions were rather lackluster at some pieces were small, and some pieces were big, and I feel like the plating was just rather not the greatest. The deviled eggs was rather tad bland, but the carrots help blend the contrast in the flavors. The burger and french fries which somehow the burger looked a lot smaller than I thought, even the fries were bigger than it. The fries kind of remind me of the McDonald's fries, which I'm actually a fan of. The steak and fries were cooked accordingly, but somehow the sauce and everything else was just plain. It didn't even seem like they seasoned it not even salt or pepper. The steak is slightly charred, but that's about it. The dessert was probably the best part of everything and probably saved the entire meal experience. Both the crème brûlée and the chocolate mousse were delicious and had the even amount of sweetness contrast. Service: The service was lackluster. It felt like they were just doing the bare minimum, and only came to check when we finished our meals. At some point, our server got switched, but had we known that, we would not been here waiting for somebody to come see us for 30 minutes after our first meal. The busboys were better at serving than the servers. I'm just kind of disappointed that that's the kind of service we got Ambiance: we arrived to visit for restaurant week and saw how beautiful the decor was. They have a wide selection of winery displayed, and the color contrast makes the atmosphere enjoyable to sit and watch the city. Location accommodation: they have outdoor seating as well as bar, parking is limited on the side for two hours or there's possible garages nearby. We sat at a table of 6 arranged lengthwise and I had great trouble hearing across the table. Service was also not the best. Dishes were generally hit or miss. The accompanying sides paired well with the salmon however - The mushroom vol au vent tasted exactly like the risotto but with a pastry exterior instead - the puff pastry could've been more buttery and flaky - The duck dish had fairly well cooked duck but could've used more protein and the potatoes that came with it weren't great Overall, it feels like the right ideas are there, but the execution falls short depending which dish you order. Came for a weeknight dinner since they had just opened recently and we were in the area. Overall, a positive experience. They have a solid wine and cocktail selection. We had a few glasses of sauvignon blanc as well as the Pigalle cocktail which was a bit heavy on the gin (which we appreciated very much). While we did not try any of the mocktails, I definitely appreciate that they try to actually make non alcoholic drinks outside of soft drinks/juices. Food wise, we started with the Wild Mushroom Vol au Vent (highlight of the night) and the Tuna Tartar. We loved everything about the mushroom dish and I could have eaten that all night long. The tartar was a bit on the salty side and the chips that came with it were soggy, so they weren't a great vessel to eat the tartar with. Entrees were Moules Frites and the Duck. I thought the mussels were small, especially being in a city known for its seafood like Boston, but the flavoring was good and fries were served on the side, so they stayed crispy. The duck was cooked a perfect medium rare and very tender. The rest of the duck dish was well executed, but did not stand out to us particularly much. We finished the meal with their Profiteroles which was basically a giant cream puff stuffed with ice cream and smothered in fudge. Great ending to the meal! The service was good and our waiter was very attentive. He also seemed knowledgeable about the menu and alcohol selection which was impressive for a restaurant that had just opened. The pacing of the food was perfect and we never felt rushed to finish a dish because the next course was on its way. Overall, I would say Batifol is a good spot for dinner. My wife and I ordered the oysters and cheese plate to start followed by the steak frites and coq au vin. Oysters were good, but I wouldn't consider it a standout in MA. The cheese plate was delicious, all the cheeses were very tasty but sadly on 4 pieces of toast. Steak frites were good. The steak was tender and well cooked but looked dry from the outside. The real standout was the sauce and the frites. Extremely flavorful and the frites were crispy and delicious. The coq au vin was OK - the fresh fettuccine was delicious however the sauce left a little to be desired. We finished dinner with an order of macarons. It came in 6 flavors and was a perfect end to the night. Overall, I definitely plan to return here and try more of the menu. The ambiance was perfect for a nice night out while enjoying cocktails. Had a lovely meal tonight at Batifol. So nice to see a new restaurant like this one come to the neighborhood. The environment is absolutely a vibe- just the right mood lighting and music where you feel like you are at a happening place but not so loud you can't have a conversation with the people at your table. I ordered a pigalle cocktail and it was divine while my fiancé had a Kroninberg Blanc beer which happens to be his favorite. We had the tuna tartare for an appetizer and it was excellent. He ordered the Beef Bourguignon and I had the duck- I think his was the better of the two dishes tonight. For dessert we had the profiterole. The restaurant is new and definitely getting its sea legs but I'm sure it'll soon be a place where people are lining up to get in. We were very satisfied and will definitely be back! read more

I would give it less than a star if possible. It took me this long to write this review because I couldn't believe it. We went on restaurant week I got the steak frites and my husband got the burger and we both felt sick right after. I called the next day and the manager was very apologetic and said he can give us a gift card or refund I said I appreciated and will let them know. I called back and said I think we will do a refund please because I didn't want to eat there again his tone changed said he talked to the owner and can only offer me a gift card. I said that's nice but a gift card is useless to me because why would I ever want to eat there again and risk getting sick and you always offered a refund. His tone changed started raising it and said how do I know you got sick here so accused me of lying. He gave me the owners number who I never called because clearly neither care and will go as low as accusing a customer of lying. read more

If I could give this restaurant no stars, I would. Despite appearances, I don't think any part of this review is an exaggeration. I did a tasting event there a couple of weeks ago- I have not, in recent memory, had such a depressing meal. "Risotto" was completely tasteless mush. "Beef Bourguignon" was bland pot roast with out-of-the-jar demiglace. "Nutella dessert" they didn't bother to name, because it was low quality, grainy milk chocolate blobbed onto a plate with packages cookie crumbs on top. The "wine pairing" for a 5 course menu was 4 half pours of really really bad wine, 2 of which were the same. To top it off, I had to listen to the chef talk about the food... I don't know how he kept a straight face. It was.... like bad wedding catering from 2002. I can't imagine that the restaurant experience would be any better. read more

Coconut Curry Daurade has only a very tiny thin filet with lots of potatoes - with $39 price tag I would expect a much better quality than this. Bacon Mushroom Friand tastes just like the Campbell's cream of mushroom soup. What was more surprising was that my final bill was charged with a higher tip than what I signed off. read more

I was looking for a Sunday brunch place close enough to Cambridgeside mall where we had a pillow knitting craft class afterward. Batifol was perfect from the food to the ambiance and the service. 10/10. I do wish I had gotten one of their poached egg dishes which seem to be a specialty instead of the omelette but still the meal overall was so satisfying. Cappuccino was perfect and my friend who got the espresso martini (who often gets espresso martinis) said this one was perfect. Good but not great. Had the steak frites. The steak was oddly thick - on the surface that is a good thing - since I got more steak than I was expecting. But typically the steak in steak frites is a thinner cut that is sliced before for serving. This just didn't fit into that model.
