Enjoyed dinner, cocktails and dessert. Salad nicouse was a nice healthy option of entree. Cream brûlée was delicious! read more

Batifol - Dessert: Creme brulee - French Near Me - Cambridge, Massachusetts

Very classic Parisian bistro vibe. Loved the subway tiles and curved ceiling. Extensive bar.

Good but not great. Had the steak frites. The steak was oddly thick - on the surface that is a good thing - since I got more steak than I was expecting. But typically the steak in steak frites is a thinner cut that is sliced before for serving. This just didn't fit into that model. Having said all that, the steak did taste good and the accompanying sauce was good. The fries were also very good. The wine selection is good. The service was very good. read more

the service was lagging bc we sat inside while most everyone was outside but overall the food was amazing and the drinks as well. read more

Delicious prix fixe menu with Burgundy wine pairing. Excellent flavors enhanced further by the selection of delicate pinots and chardonnays from the region, presented enthusiastically by a knowledgeable sommelier. Beautiful decor and cozy atmosphere; one of the best French restaurants in the city. read more

Really bad food. The overwhelmingly 5 star reviews made me so excited to try this place but the food was terrible. Ordered two appetizers and left for dinner somewhere else. read more

We were looking for a nice place to eat after a great Autumn day exploring Kendall Sq. On a Saturday and found an opening at Batifol. This restaurant is beautiful and looks like a French Bistro or French Cafe. The food was wonderful. We chose to start with a mixed cheese/meat Charcuterie Board, and had Coq au Vin and Beef Bourguignon with a side of Fava Beans. We would have had desserts if we weren't time constrained. The food was delicious! The service was excellent! read more

Loved it! The decor/atmosphere is great, food was excellent, service was timely. Highly recommended!

Give it a try. Nice atmosphere to spend time with friends over a bistro meal. While the original petit Robert food still is better in consistency of the execution of the food, I would still go back because of the service, tables, architecture and menu options. My favorite dish was the spring pea salad. The fish was salty and texture like salted cod (not to my liking). I heard the steak was tough. The fries were so so. The Niçoise salad looked pretty as well as the risotto. read more

Stir away from "La Femme Fatale" for it is a tasty cocktail but that laughable over the top ice rose is ridiculously over the top.

First time checking out this place. Located in a great area within Kendall. Had a really great waiter who gave us some solid recs on things to try. Everything from cocktails to food and desert was great. Nice portions, very clean meal. read more

Best French restaurant in a long time! Service staff was first rate, selections amazing and food really good. The owner has created a little bit of heaven in Cambridge. read more

I ate here on a business trip and I think the staff might have thought I was a professional food critic so now I feel obligated to leave a review. :) I ate the escargot and the red perch and for cocktails had the Rivoli and Chatelet. The escargot are served over bread without their shells, which is a welcome break from the norm in my opinion. The red perch was cooked nicely (opaque but not dry) and had a good balance of crunch and sauce. Cocktails were good but nothing special. Only major downside was that acoustics were poor, at least where I was sitting in the corner. I couldn't hear anything the staff said to me over the background noise. read more

Came here for a work lunch. The ambiance and decor are spectacular. Service was good. Food is below average. If you need put something in your stomach, and want a nice ambiance - then this is your place. If you are looking for authentic and delicious French food, then go to La Voile or Ma Maison. read more

Excellent experience for brunch Great ambiance plus outdoor patio All the food was super tasty and high quality Will absolutely return many times read more

Love, love, love the food here every time. For dessert go to Tuscanninis around the corner for ice cream. This restaurant makes me want to try to make their food, but I know my homemade food will never be as good read more

Solid food, friendly staff. A decent drink menu, my measure on French restaurants, their onion soups. Well. I give it a 7-10. It's not bad, but It needs some work read more

Batifol is a hidden gem in the Cambridge area and some of the best French food that I've had to date. Each dish was intentional and had so much flavor. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a special occasion. The restaurant also had an expensive wine selection. 10/10 recommend. read more

Dinner was amazing. I had never had French food before. I will certainly ne back again. We had to wait for a bit even though we had a reservation and the manager brought us appetizers and drinks on the house. That was very thoughtful. I would certainly recommend this place. read more

I had guests from out of town. I chose Batifol based on the reviews. Brunch was wonderful. I reserved a table for the patio, and it was perfect summer weather for outdoor dining. The servers were prompt with seating us, taking our orders, and answering our questions. They made it easy for us to enjoy the yummy food and drinks. It was as delightful as brunch could be. read more

Came here for a celebratory lunch with my husband and one year old daughter. Service and food were good. I am very annoyed that there wasn't a changing table in the men's room. (Not sure about women's room.) I had to change my daughter's diaper on a small nightstand-esque piece of furniture which she barely fit on and caused me to fumble with all my stuff. I ended up having to place her on the bathroom floor which is just gross. Why have high chairs for little ones when you can't accommodate for them in the bathroom? read more

Went to dinner here for the first time. Great ambience, food, and service. Portions are also really good. We ordered the fried cauliflower, green salad, moules frites, and half roasted chicken, and had leftovers that my boyfriend happily took home. Would definitely go again, and want to try brunch next. read more

The fancy cocktails looked good & seem to be the point of emphasis here, but we didn't try them so can't comment on them. We visited on a Saturday night & the place was hopping, but it did not feel overly crowded, and the noise level was actually very reasonable. The service was excellent - friendly, prompt, and attentive. We ordered classic bistro dishes: Coq au Vin, Boeuf Bourguignon, and two orders of sautéed duck breast. The food was ok, certainly edible, but each dish was pretty seriously flawed: the beef and chicken were overdone, the vegetable garnishes mostly underdone, the sauces in both cases bland. The duck was perfectly medium rare (thank you, sous vide!) but lacked any noticeable sear, and this sauce was stridently sweet & sour, but not very flavorful. The creme brûlée was fine. I guess if you're there to drink, the food is just fine, which is perhaps all they're reaching for. I don't think we'll be back. read more

Amazing escargot and steak frites!! Cannot wait to return. Escargot melted in my mouth. So rich and delicious. A bit noisy as night got going; next time will ask for a corner table:) read more

Carlos was an incredible bartender! Good and drinks were amazing. Will be back again.

I went back to Batifol for dinner and have some feedback. The escargot were served dry outside of their shells on a small piece of brioche. Doesn't everyone enjoy dipping their bread in the garlic butter? I felt like I missed out. The Gratin on top of the onion soup tasted charcoal burnt. I'm not exaggerating. And last but not least, I think the server should have explained the condiments that were served with the steak tartar and walked the diner through the process of mixing everything together including the dijon mustard. We think it was red onion, capers, parsley and cornichons but since everything was diced so small it was not obvious. Deconstructed is creative but give the diner some guidance. The shining star of the meal was the cold Kronenbourg on tap, it was delicious and I will be back for at least the beer. read more

Batifol is an great new addition to Cambridge! All five of us enjoyed our meals. The beef bourgignon, salmon and mushroom appetizer were our faves. Cocktails were well balanced and the wine list was well thought out. A special shout out to our server Kristi who was so knowledgeable and a delight! read more

We were fifteen minutes late to our reservation but were still seated immediately despite it being a Friday night at 7:15pm with the restaurant pretty busy. Waiter made good recommendations. Beef bourguignon is a popular dish for a reason. Steak frites were "pretty good" according to bf. He said escargot was AMAZING. Smoked salmon was divisive. Nice casual vibe. Lowkey expensive for what it is but like still good tho read more

Batifol is a beautiful, warm and welcoming place to visit. On top of the atmosphere the food and drinks were also amazing. I highly recommend the beef bourguignon - best I've ever had. The crème brûlée was the perfect texture and had just the right amount of sweetness as well. read more

The beef in the beef bourguignon was super soft and the gravy was a delight. The service was also tres excellente.

We moved here from NYC in June and missed our local French restaurant. Tonight we ate at Batifol in Cambridge and we found our new local favorite. The Ambience is great. Not too crowded or too loud. They did an amazing job with the space which is very nicely done and you at transported to a very comfortable and lovely bistro. You totally forget you're sitting on Third Avenue in Kendall Square. The service was great. Wait staff were helpful and food was delivered in a timely fashion. We had the onion soup, tonight's special mushroom soup, Steak frites and the Demi-poulet. Everything we had was very good. I think the steak frites was one of the best I've had, here or abroad. Glass of Rose topped it off. Just a wonderful meal. Highly recommended and we will be regulars. read more

We stumbled on this place on the way to Tatte across the street and we are glad we stopped for brunch! Modern French vibe, lovely inside. Kids had burger, waffle salee (savory), steak and eggs, we had eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and the vegetable tartine. Everything but the waffle came with perfectly cooked hand cut frites and a lightly dressed salad. Everything really well seasoned and delicious. Serving sizes generous. Only misstep was the savory waffle did not come with the short rib or sauce it was supposed to have, we flagged someone down, turned out to be the owner, who had them fix it and sent out a complimentary sweet waffle with whipped cream, berries. Overheard owner chatting with another table that he is opening a French bakery across the street later this year. Wish we were local as would come here often, but will be back next time in Cambridge. read more

I must have selected the wrong item on the menu. I was only there once for lunch and ordered Tuna Confit & Saffran Aioli Tartine. This is how it was described: Confit ahi tuna, Boston lettuce, eggs, roasted peppers, anchovies, saffron aioli. I fully expected fresh raw tuna. What I got was canned tuna preserved in water on a toast. Not even a tuna salad. Very dry. My cats don't eat this kind of tuna. I could not eat it either. Took home, added some aioli and made a semi-eatable sandwich. I just don't like to through away food. Can of tuna packed in water is $ 2.00 at most. This one was $19.00. Two stars, not one because they did make a good Negroni. read more

Batifol serves high quality French food in a comfortable, casual environment. The nice short menu has something for everyone without trying to include all possibilities. The food is faithful to the French style, dessert was excellent, the cocktail selections are fun, the wine list is comfortably short, not overwhelming, but varied enough to satisfy any reasonable person. Service was perfect. read more

Very nice addition to see for the first time since returning to neighborhood. Excellent service--both at Brunch and spontaneous crave for something sweet and tart. One of the worst dinners that I've had. The food was so salty and horribly seasoned. Mushrooms tasted bland and salty while the vol au vent was not puffy at all. Fish was overcooked and the moules frites had so much salt in it that I felt like I was in the ocean (also, no bread at all to eat this with?). Thoroughly disappointed after being so hyped up by reviews. read more

Went here for a date and it was great! The interior was very cool and the dim lighting made for great ambiance. The place was packed on a Monday night and the food explains why. Service was also really great from the servers and the owner too. I would highly recommend this place as a great date spot or trying something new in the area. read more
