My suggestion is that no one eat there. Ordered a Rubin sandwich on rye bread. It was totally burned on both sides. I took one bit just to make sure, it was burnt. I took it in and asked for a new one. I was told it wasn't burnt it was the color of the bread. She was rude even went and got a loaf of bread to show me the color. It was the marble bread so I asked why it wasn't still two color but one solid very dark black. She said if they replaced it, it would take 45 minutes. Even local people sitting on porch said it should have been replaced. When I left she insisted I take the boxed sandwich because she didn't want to throw away a perfectly good sandwich. Very disappointed in the whole experience. I really wanted tacos and their website menu showed a very nice picture and description of some chicken fajita tacos. Got there and the counter person told me that he had no idea what I was talking about..even after showing him the website. What I got for 9 dollars was 3 sad looking burned hamburger meat tacos in stale shells tossed in a togo box..waste of time and waste of money. Went here a few times in July with the fam while staying in Sun River. One of the few restaurant choices in the area. Great burgers, lots of menu options. (My kids especially liked being able to order breakfast all day). Service was decent, just a little standoffish. Dinged them 2 stars mainly for the fried chicken, which I'll explain below. The first day we came we'd read reviews about the fried chicken and when we showed up we saw a prominent sign out front advertising this. The place was practically dead at 1pm on a Friday but they told me it would be 45 minutes for fried chicken and suggested calling ahead of time if we didn't want to wait. No problem, we'd do that next time. Got some burgers, dogs, and some pancakes. A few days later while up north at Lava Butte we called in 40 minutes before planning to eat lunch and ordered two 8 piece fried chicken. Was told on the phone that 45 minutes wouldn't be long enough for two 8-pieces. He said it would be closer to an hour. I said that would be fine that we didn't mind waiting longer. Showed up 45 minutes later to pay and just relax while the food was being made. The person at the counter (different employee) told me then that I was way too early and that the chicken still wouldn't be ready for at least another hour. When I relayed to her what the other person had told me on the phone she just shrugged. They told me my chicken was still "thawing out." Again, the place was dead- maybe 2 other people eating there in the mid afternoon (2ish). I asked what makes the process take so long and she said they only have one fryer and they have to thaw the chicken out for each order. I asked her what happens when the place is packed and multiple tables are ordering fried chicken and I kid you not, this is what she said: "Oh, nobody ever orders the fried chicken. Everybody around here knows that if you want fried chicken, go down to the gas station (Shell?) where it's ALWAYS HOT AND READY." (This coming from the restaurant with the sign out front advertising their fried chicken). I should have just ordered something different. But I felt bad that they'd apparently already started. So, we ordered a couple of appetizers and hung out on the front porch enjoying the sunshine. Sure enough, chicken was ready at around an hour and 45 minutes after placing the order. Verdict on the chicken? Very moist, nice crispy consistency to the batter. But way too salty for my liking (and I love putting salt on stuff). Seems like they may have brined the chicken and then added more salt later. Brined too long? Can't be sure. But definitely wasn't worth waiting for for nearly 2 hours. So if you find yourself in the Sunriver area and you've got a hankering for some fried chicken, never forget the gas station where it's apparently always hot and ready! But if you're in the mood for some great burgers or breakfast for dinner, take a beeline to Basecamp, you won't be sorry. read more

Yum! I came here for lunch and ordered the Steak Sandwich which came with lots of melty and delicious Provolone Cheese. The bread was super soft too. I upgraded to curly fries for an extra $1.50 and added a side salad which was restaurant quality for only $4! This place is like a local diner, but they are really killing it with their food. It's quick-serve style, so we just ordered at the counter. There are 2 tables out front for patio + dog-friendly seating. I would definitely eat here again and want to try the burgers and fried chicken next time. There are a lot of fancy, touristy and expensive food in Sunriver - so it was refreshing to find a place like this that had a local vibe to it too. read more

What a joke! I've given this place 4 tries. Failed on all attempts. Today was the last straw. Went in for breakfast, today's special - biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs. Simple enough right? As I was about to tell him how I like my eggs the phone rang. He put them on hold to finish my order. I then proceed to wait. 45 MINUTES and I still didn't get my meal. I became fed up when they offered the "call in order" his 3 bags of to go food ahead of me. 45 minutes and they couldn't cook 2 over easy eggs and serve them with the prepared gravy and biscuits. I have been coming to base camp for years with always good food and happy service. Today however was horrid!! The cashier was outside cussing out someone on the phone. And kept us waiting at the register. Then waited about 25min for our food on a dead night. Finally get our food and my burger was wrong. I asked for them to just add what they missed. They gave me 1 pickle. And threw lettuce on. And to top that the cashier basically threw the plate at me. My tots weren't even tots they were way over cooked. And hurt to chew on. read more

We have been here a few times and the service hasn't ever been friendly, the food pretty mediocre. The burgers are basic frozen patties, chicken strips always dry and salad is basically iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, and olives . The milkshakes are good though. Breakfasts ok. The fried chicken was hit or miss. We kept trying because it was affordable in the area but we were always disappointed and would rather just cook at home then spend the money on unfriendly service and food that was eh. And after everyone in our group getting food poisoning we have been done with base camp. It's been a year since we have gone back.. My husband and I live in the area and have eaten here several times for lunch and we'll continue to come back. Best thing about them is that they are honest about what they serve, traditional American, and they do a good job of it.. Their menu is written on a board and you order at the counter. Coffee and sodas are self-serve. We were drawn to their fish and chips and weren't disappointed. It's not greasy or over battered. The fish was flaky and not over done. Fries are thick cut and are a reasonable ketchup delivery device. (My criteria for fries.) We've also had their spicy bean, chicken and corn soup. FYI They top it with finely grated cheddar. It's tasty. Today I had their special, a BLT. They advertised that they had the best bacon in Sunriver. While I haven't tried all the bacon in Sunriver I can say this was some yummy bacon. It was thick sliced and flavorful and there was lots of it. Actually so much I had to pull a slice or two from the sandwich so I could eat it. They serve their food with a 6 pack of condiments including my favorite, chipotle mayonnaise. We haven't tried their burgers because that's not our thing, but they have a bunch of good looking options. We haven't gotten around to their chicken either. They have a separate sports and video gaming room. Looks like a good place to go when your cable company isn't showing your preferred sports team. They have a full liquor license. read more

I rarely write reviews but I felt like I needed to address this since it has happened more than once now. I truly enjoy eating here, love the food and sitting outside. What I can't stand is now on multiple occasions I have shown up around 820-830 and the cook has complained about making a dish through his little window because he already cleaned for the night. I don't have a problem if you're shutting down early, but there were other customers sitting down eating still both times we have been there, and there has been some very rude attitude towards us that was definitely not warranted. Put a sign up that says you stop serving food at a certain point if it is that big of a deal. read more

They don't know how to explain beer types or flavors and when orders are wrong they don't just fix it, they make you feel like an idiot for not knowing what micro brews are. They don't bring food within an hour and while they keep apologizing, they can't seem to fix the problem. Yes, the service is slow at times. It's hard when there's a small business and you can't over staff because of payroll costs, and you might get a rush that is unexpected sometimes. However, we're in Sunriver, so really, what's the hurry? You get your coffee or soda cup to fill up right away while you wait. We've been in multiple times and the food is always on point. WORTH READING: My sister and I were out enjoying our afternoon together, we had both never been to "The Base Camp Grill" before.The gentleman that took our order was great, he disappeared afterwards. An older lady came in, she went back to the kitchen came out with 2 ribs saying she was going to go give them to her best friends. She walked outside to a vehicle. She was giving them to her pets.We smiled at each other, as she passed by. Then she came in and went to work in the kitchen,along with a young lady that was also a cook, the young lady was also great,we spoke a little. This older lady, I am thinking was the owner at this point.Only telling you this because I am trying to give her a title. I had ordered a South Face Burrito.This same older lady brought us our food. I noticed my burrito had guac on it, I looked up at the menu board once again, I knew when I ordered I read it correctly and it clearly says: guac and salsa come on the SIDE! I am allergic Before she left the table and walked away I said "I'm sorry I can't eat this" "I have food allergies" I explained that the menu board states that guac and salsa comes on the side, or I would of said NO GUAC. She immediately screamed at me in front of everyone "THIS IS BULLSHIT, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU!" I was floored! I thought I didn't hear her right. She picked up the plate, looking at it, threw it down in front of me yelling again "THIS IS BULLSHIT SO I SUPPOSE YOU NEED ANOTHER ONE! YOU CAN'T EAT THIS ONE?"" She was not understanding anything I had explained. I said don't bother making me another one, I don't want one. She screamed at me again "DO YOU WANT ONE OR NOT?"then screams"IT'S TO LATE!" I mean at the top of her lungs!!! and then went to the register,shaking acting totally looney! I don't know this lady but wow she needs HELP! She got the money out of the till, slamming it at me on the counter. I walked over to my sister and nodded for her lets leave. As I walked by the counter again I looked at her, I said " I have never seen anyone in my entire LIFE be as UNPROFESSIONAL AS YOU!" and I walked away with my pride!
