The inside of this place is very appealing. There's a colorful lively decor that feels good. My kid and I visited Saturday for lunch, and it was completely empty. Daughter had to have ramen and soup bao so we decided to try here. This girl was the happiest she had been on our whole trip. She had the signature ramen bowl and an order of soup bao dumplings. Everything was extremely good. The soup had awesome flavor but wasn't overly salty. Big pieces of tender pork with lots of noodles. The dumplings came out way later than the ramen, maybe they needed extra time to steam......but they were 100% worth it. Steaming hot, soft dough and the pork filling was on point. Cute place. A sports bar vibe with Asian food. I loved it. I was a little disappointed with the soup dumplings. They were stuck together and more difficult to eat than my past experiences. My husband had the Batters Favorite ramen and really liked it. With that being said, my husband found this place to satisfy my foodie heart and everyone found something they liked. As a foodie mom who birthed and married foodie basics , it was nice to go to a place like this and have everyone be able to eat something other than burgers and Mac and cheese. Before going to an event at Nats Park, my family of three stopped into Basebowl, a fast-casual Asian restaurant literally next door to the stadium. Here's our experience: 1) Food: Their menu offers a wide range of options from ramen to bento boxes to dumplings. My wife and four-year-old daughter split the teriyaki chicken rice bento box (it comes with soup and a salad). They found it tasty. I ordered the Strike Out ramen bowl (green curry ramen with fried chicken on the side). I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as flavorful or filling as H Street NE's Toki Underground fried chicken ramen bowl. 2) Service: It's impeccable. The food is really good, I love the location. But the service is what makes me not one to go back. I have called to place an order and the young man stated that Basebowl does not take orders on the phone. I had a friend call with 10 mins and she was able to place the order. Once I got there the young man was standing outside in front of the entrance. He asked what I was looking for and I told him si placed an order to pick up. Once we went inside, I remember he told my friend that they were very busy but it was no one at the tables but only at the bar. He was very standoffish. When I asked for extra soy sauce, he went to the back in, got it, but he never gave me my receipt, and he just looked unhappy to be there. Again the food was great! But the service was horrible. Great spot right outside Centerfield gate with a cool vibe (music), nice seating & ambiance. Friendly staff with great service. The prices are pretty reasonable for the area, I thought portion could be larger, but wife didn't finish hers because she was full. I am a big guy-LOL. We ordered Spring-Rolls which menu says (2), but we got (4) - not complaining, they were delicious with a very good dippin Thai Chili sauce. My wife went with the Batter Favorite which was spicy, she enjoyed- just wished the broth was served hotter and meat was on the tough side, but still liked it. This is a marvelous gem right outside of Nats stadium center field gate. They have an incredible happy hour 3-7 PM with, $4-$5 beers, $5 sushi, and $15 pitcher for cherry blossoms! It seems like they recently got a really great sponsorship with Kirin Ichiban and the decor and atmosphere has really improved. Outside of the happy hour I love to come for their soup dumplings and ramen. The best ramens are the Batter's Favorite if you're looking for a beef broth or the Strike Out if you want more of a creamy ramen with Korean fried chicken. I'll update this post when I go back) I wasn't a huge fan of the vegetarian ramen, but my friend who ordered the same thing enjoyed hers...so try at your own risk. I ate outside in one of their little pods (which was very cute) but it did get VERY hot with the door closed. On super hot days, I would recommend grabbing the outdoor tables. Navy Yard needed better cuisine in the Asian scene. Options were few and far between, so Base Bowl is a welcome addition. It's mainly Ramen based but they have some nice starters and drink (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) selection. I really liked how the menu labels whats vegetarian and what's not. Even though there's only 1 Vegetarian friendly Ramen option any of the other ramen bowls can be customized to make it vegetarian friendly. It's perfectly positioned across from the stadium, they've got indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar that's open to both. We got so caught up with trying the starters that we didn't even order a ramen bowl. The starters are shareable but don't expect large portions. However, it was surprisingly filling and the food tasted freshly made with fresh ingredients. I would describe Base Bowl as traditional meets modern. The flavors and dishes are authentic with presentation that combines both modern and traditional. The food and flavor was vibrant and sure to please everyone. read more

I came through solo for dinner. First impressions coming through was good. Nice little spot and nicely designed. I was immediately greeted at the door while two employees were standing in front. I sat myself at the bar and the bartender promptly greeted and took my drink and food order. I went with the squid karaage appetizer and tonkotsu ramen. The ramen came out quite fast followed by my appetizer about 15 mins after my ramen. That was quite disappointing as my appetizer was put in before my ramen. The squid karaage was delicious! The dipping sauce was a perfect pairing and with a distinct flavor that I have not tasted before. The ramen was paired with two pieces of chashu that was think and just the right amount of fat. The broth was lacking a bit. The little details like crisp pieces of nori makes a huge difference, which mine was completely soggy. It just seemed to fall short and flat on flavor. Delicious dumplings and ramen. I live in Tyson's, and order using Uber Eats. It's worth the distance and xtra time. The dumpling wrappers are chewy and bouncy while not overly doughy. Stopped by this spot for lunch to get takeout. There was not a baseball game so it was pretty empty, but we got our food quick because of it. My gf and I ordered the two top sellers: Batter's Favorite and Strike Out. The Batter's Favorite ($16) consisted of a traditional beef rib tomato broth slow cooked for 8 hours, ahi-tama, bean sprouts, corn, pickles, scallion, garlic, seasonal greens, and thin cut beef brisket. This had a good amount of spiciness and the beef brisket was amazing. Careful not to spill the broth as it is red and oily. The Strike Out ($15) consisted of Thai spicy coconut green curry, lemongrass, Thai basil, scallion, bamboo shoots, sugar snap peas, and fried chicken on the side. This supposedly is spicier than Batter's Favorite, but I found the spice level to be mellow. Overall it was tasty and you can't go wrong with fried chicken. read more

Glad to have another spot open in the Nats ballpark area! Have not had an opportunity yet to have a dine in experience, but my limited interaction with the staff from take-out has been positive. As another reviewer mentioned, the prices sway towards the high side, but current price points won't keep me from going back. We all enjoyed our meal and I especially loved my Wonton Ramen. It exceeded my expectations and I would order it again. However, they a variety of ramen choices, so I look forward to trying one I haven't yet ordered. I think they had at least ten options to choose from on the menu in ramen bowls. My only negative thus far is the dessert. I normally don't order dessert when dining out or doing takeout. And perhaps I should stick to the rule, as the Cheesecake Trio was quite disappointing. A few of us shared and found the value wasn't worth it based on the size of the portions and the flavor being standard. Would skip the cheesecake if you are thinking about it. This is turning into one of my top spots in DC; 1) what I've had so far has been excellent, 2) the service and staff are on par 3) the ambiance is great, whether inside or outside 4) their social distancing protocols are solid enough that you feel comfortable, but not so strict that you can't enjoy yourself. Stopped in and enjoyed a quick little dinner with my son. He chose ramen and I went w/ an appetizer and sushi. My dinner was good but my son's ramen was off a little with a very pungent broth. Maybe that is how it is supposed to be, but not what we were used to with ramen and caught us off guard. He ended up not eating it. It has a nice bar as well as well as tasty cocktails. The menu items are very reasonable considering the part of town it's in- my kids loved their meals. It's pretty hard impressing a very picky 8 year old. The portion sizes are great and the service was very good. The waiter/servers were very fast and attentive.
