Came here before a Nat's game to grab a quick bite to eat and take advantage of their happy hour menu. The beer was cold and delicious. Prices were 5 dollars for all drafts during happy hour. Walters is a good sports bar option among many in Navy Yard. In my book it is a high 3* because the food was just OK, however the customer service was good and the atmosphere is what gives this place a ratings boost. The customer service is attentive and friendly. The wings and Walkers Smash Burger were a disappointment in the flavor department. The burger was bland and the wings did not have good texture. I like that Walters has adequate and ample booth seating. There is indoor and outdoor seating options, with plenty of big screen televisions throughout the restaurant. On big game nights, you can see the game on multiple screens and from various vantages. The bar is centrally located and seemingly accommodating for the size of the venue. The one downside of this experience is the mens restroom was downright filthy. Apparently there was an overflow or clogged urinal which spilled all over the floor and created an unsanitary situation. I came here after a soccer game and was duly impressed. They have a decent selection of beers on tap and of course a million TVs on different games since they're a sports bar. I wasn't sure about the BBQ pork sandwich but I'm glad I ordered it and it was very impressive. It was a large serving of lean well seasoned pork with a BBQ sauce that had just the right amount of spice. A BBQ purist would point out they sandwich shouldn't come pre-sauced but I'll let that slide since they're a sports bar. I had a side salad and that did the job as well since I didn't want something too heavy after having a BBQ pork sandwich and a couple beers. Friends and I stopped in to get out of the rainy weather. This was around mid day and the place was fairly empty. There are lots of tvs playing various sporting games. The center has a large wrap around bar with what looked to be fully stocked with about every type of liquor you would want. We grabbed seats at the bar and were helped quickly. HOLY SMOKES! First of all, I would previously go to another bar not too far away to watch Lions games in DC but discovered it had closed down. It was terribly disappointing because from what I heard, the new Lions bar was over an hour away by walking and I definitely didn't want to be too far from my hotel. I was recommended two spots to come watch the game, This was the second and I'm so glad I got a chance to come here. First of all it's sports heaven. There is a trillion (am I using hyperbole? Possibly) televisions so you can watch the game(s) from just about any angle and they have just about every game on. Luckily I got here a little bit on the earlier side since it was just a quick Uber ride from my hotel, so I pregamed which meant I got a chance to really try some beers (25 drafts and about 20 cans I think) that I don't typically find back home. My list: 1. Of course I started with Old Rasputin because I haven't had this in such a long time. This 9% beauty is one of the greats for a reason. Rich without an overpowering alcohol taste for such a high ABV. Really one that all beer lovers should try. 2. Marzen Retrograde Oktoberfest. To balance out the rich, heavy flavors of the Rasputin, I went my favorite style of beer, the Marzen, aka Oktoberfest. This was by Candia Road Brewing out of Manchester, NH. Solid beer and at 5.5% nice way to balance out both your palate and your drunkenness. 3. Went big again for my 3rd beer, hitting up the Imperial IPA from DC Brau Brewing Company. If you like the super hoppy IPAs this is for you, while I'm not a huge fan of traditional style IPAs, I do love the doubles and this one was very good. At this point I realized I needed to get some food in my belly or I wouldn't be awake for the game. Everyone was ordering the wings so I thought I would jump on that train and order them also. As far as wings go, I'm currently obsessed with hot honey for just about everything that can be dunked, dipped or drizzled so picking the hot honey glaze was an easy choice. Come to find out, it was also the perfect choice cause it was fantastic. Anyway I ended up here for 5 hours and ordered the cheeseburger (double cheese smashburger, my other obsession at the moment) and it was so good, just absolutely perfect. Only one bartender/waiter, but he did a great even after the party of 50 came in. First time I've ordered a full meal here. The server said they were known for their burgers so I ordered the cheeseburger and added bacon. It was good sized. Too smashburger patties with all the trimmings. The bacon was thick and crunchy. I came here with a friend for brunch before a concert. It's your typical sports bar, except that it's HUGE. We were sat quickly and our server was very nice; our food also came out fast. I had the omelet and decided to add lamb and cheese. They forgot the cheese and so had to remake it and the lamb was so chewy and fatty. I would not recommend. We also split an order of wings and they were decent. All in all I wasn't really impressed but I suppose when you come to a place like this, you should just stick to burgers, beer and wings. read more

Okay, I visited Walter's once before and I didn't review it and I'm glad I didn't. At that time I was visiting other upscale/bougie bars in the area and I would've made the fatal mistake of comparing the types of bars. Each of them have different vibes and are targeting different types of patrons. Okay so Walter's is your typical sports bar, with TVs and beer and tons of people. I mean it's located across the street from Nats park. So on game days or when there's an event, expect this place be crowded. I visited here on a bar crawl in the neighborhood. The Capital Riverfront group had a Cherry Blossom bar crawl event, where you purchase a ticket that gets you one free cherry blossomed theme drink in the Yards. Walter's was last on my list, and they had the best drink! They also great service. The bartender pictured here, got my order fairly quickly, and the host was able to find my party a table rather easy. Great job! The table ordered the typical bar foods, buffalo wings, fries, and deviled eggs. The food was actually good and I was impressed, because I was expecting "bar type" food. While enjoying the game, another staff member came over and told me the table was reserved, even though there were no signs like on other reserved tables. Walter's remains the place to go for football season. The service is still impeccable, the TV's have all the games, and the food is just as great as ever. We got the wings, which were very crispy and hot on arrival, the breakfast burrito and chicken and waffles. We also opted for the bottomless drinks and rarely even had to ask for refills as they were automatically refilled during our allotted time. This place should have been right up my alley growing up in bowling alleys with bar type food. We were the only ones in the place. We sat down and were told to scan or codes to order. People on my party scan and try to order. Some have no problem and order right away. Others have trouble, but the waitress helps them out. Mine and a few others can't get it to work at all. The waitress/bartender seems annoyed at the system and maybe us. I went out on a limb and decided to try the bbq pulled pork. It had amazing pickled onions that were concerning at first but turned out to be a hit. Sadly, there was next to no bbq sauce. Overall, food was 3/5. Price was high, although probably on par for DC. For a sandwich and fries with no drink it was almost $25 before tip. Worst part, because I didn't get the app to work, I had to chase the waitress around like a lost puppy. It seems like a good place to grab a drink and watch a game. They need to hire more people and figure out their ordering system or go back to pen and paper. I first discovered this wonderful sports bar with my wife after the Nationals-Braves single admission double header in April 2021. We shared the Lamb Ragu Pasta and the Walters Salmon Salad as well as some beers including our first from Other Half which we both loved. This past Saturday a friend that moved out of the country came here with us as well as his girlfriend, father, stepmom, another friend, and that friend's coworker for dinner before the Nationals-Cardinals game on Saturday night. The reservation was for inside but the friend that got there first preferred the table outside which they did not mind. My wife and I shared the Hot Honey Wings and Philly Cheesesteak as well as two RAR beers, a Pineapple Painkiller, and a frozen Sangria. The service was fast and friendly and we made it to our seats at the game just in time for the national anthem despite most of our party being late due to the Metro.
