Ive never had tunisian food and it was honestly SO good. I was not expecting much based on ambiance and it being in a parking lot but almost every meal was really tasteful. The shrimp and gritts were my least favorite and felt the hand of fatima quantity was little for value but everything else tasted great. Wish it had better ambiance/location to make it better for date night

Our 1st time at Barsha. Food was great. Our server was overloaded with tables but incredibly efficient & very attentive. We weren't terribly hungry so we ordered a bunch of sides and a couple of drinks. All the ingredients were super fresh & everything was delish. Would definitely love to come back & try some more dishes. One negative was that it was kind of dark and loud (but it was a weekend night). I'd be interested in coming back on a weekday :).

We went here for my wife's birthday dinner and really only liked the falafel sliders. The lamb meatballs were underwhelming and a bit too salty. The branzino was just okay, and both were served over a bed of couscous. The fries were delicious and crispy, but overly salted as well. On top of that, the menu of drinks written in chalk on their wall is just for show. Their actual drink menu is so much smaller and they have $11 beers on draft. I got a Pilsner, which was great, but $11 for a beer is pretty hefty. I'm used to paying $8 or $9, but $11 for a pint is steep. They played pitchy, piercing, high treble music which fit the theme of the restaurant, but we asked them to turn it down because it was giving us headaches. Thankfully they did so we could hear our own conversation and think clearly! There's a huge parking lot so no trouble parking at least.

Mediterranean restaurant in a strip mall location with plenty of parking. My husband and I ordered the chicken, lamb, sample platter, friends which were all delicious. The restaurant itself is very cozy and romantic, I would say that our waitress must had been new because the service was choppy: the waitress would ask us if we want anything a few times in 10 mins but seemed like she was forced to do so lol. But would return again for more Mediterranean food!

Service was very helpful and informative! Refilled waters several times. We got these for ~120$ before tip/tax: hands of fatima: 7/10, a bit underwhelming for how popular it is. Liked attagirl's platter better, but the bread was fluffy and crisp. falafel sliders 9/10: normally wary of falafels as they tend to be dry, but these were so juicy and flavorful. another must have Beef cheek cous cous: 10/10! best item we got; meat was soo tender and paired well with the spices. chicken mosil: 7.5/10, the chicken was crispy and the quinoa was great but not my fav flavor profile. bread pudding: 6/10, was highly recommended but was dry. I do like that it wasnt super sweet though.

Our first time here with friends for my birthday. We heard lots of great things about this restaurant. This is a very authentic Mediterranean *Tunisian flavored and inspired menu. The chefs are creative, but most of all passionate about what they put on their plates. The flavors are packed and the spices are unique to the region of North Africa. Love the use of cous-cous and quinoa and their sauces. Just enough acidity and fats and salt. The branzino was cooked to perfection. The mussels and dips/bread starters were delicious as well. My wife loved the chicken dark meat and potatoes. She stated that it was a bit salty but she is sensitive to well seasoned foods. Anyway, the service was great and the atmosphere was very nice. It was busy for a Sunday night at a location that you could easily drive right by. The inside is nicely decored and the lighting is very nice. Would definitely recommend this place for the incredible food and ambiance. Overall, we loved this place at first glance/taste. Enjoy!

Barsha is a laid back spot that's great for light bites and drinks with your friends after an afternoon at the beach. The team here is very friendly and welcoming. The owner knows how to take care of his guests. Lamb Meatballs: The meatballs are big and plump. They are nice and chewy on the inside with a bit of a sticky and crisp exterior. The m'hamsa stew contains hand rolled couscous with an optimal size. The tiny pearls are large enough so they're not gritty and small enough that they're not doughy. The stew itself is tomato based, nice and savory, with spinach, and warmed by gentle spices and seasonings. The cilantro labneh provides a luscious and creamy topping for the meatballs. Dining Area: The snug spot has a handful of tables inside and outside, plus a bar and counter. Parking: The giant strip mall (is it really even a strip mall?) has a big lot with many open spaces.

Highly recommend the falafel sliders! Amazing texture and flavor of the falafel paired with a delicious sauce 5/5 for sure! We also enjoyed the hand of fatima with the crusty bread - the bread was really warm and fresh, loved the hummus and pesto dips especially. The lamb meatballs were juicy but the couscous on the bottom wasn't my favorite. The spritz and golden hour drinks were good but i think we could've skipped the bread pudding. The atmosphere was lively though it can be a little loud. The manager seemed to know everyone and greeted the tables which was nice, although some of the service seemed a little rushed. Overall a decent place to come with friends and enjoy some dips and sliders!

Roasted cauliflower and other veggies were great. The lamb meatballs was so good with labneh and accoutrements. The beef cheek cous cous was so soft and tender. The waiters were very attentive and helpful in the menu selection. The moussaka and beet hummus were super good! The shrimp and grits had a lot of flavor and not too much heaviness on their take. The noise is a bit loud so it's a bit hard to hear and they have live music nights!

    De Soi Golden Hour (non-alcoholic)

If you're looking for something different in the South Bay, I'd recommend trying Barsha! They serve Tunisian food, which was my first time having. We started off with some non-alcoholic apertifs that sounded really interesting! The De Soi Purple Lune has dark fruit, rose, Gentian root, Ashwagnda, green tea, and black pepper. The De Soi Golden Hour has pear, yuzu, earl grey tea, bergamot, lemongrass, maca, and elderflower. For appetizers, we got the Housemade Farmers Cheese, which was nice and creamy. It comes with roasted beets, charred tomato, balsamic grapes, pistachio, and a side of sliced bread. We also got the Chicken Liver Pate, served with pistachio and a seasonal compote, as well as bread. Would get this again! For small bites, we got the Roasted Eggplant. It's mixed with heirloom tomato, caramelized onion, balsamic, and almond with a side of bread. This was quite tasty! I definitely recommend their Falafel Sliders! These come with caramelized and pickled onion, tabil aioli, cucumber, feta, and labheh on a toasted slider bun. For items from the "Bigger Bites" section of the menu, we go the Lamb Meatballs that come in a M'hamsa stew with cous cous and labneh. We also got the Moussaka, an eggplant stew with tabil bechamel, parmesan, and croutons on top. I enjoyed this dish! This was a good amount of food for a group of four people! Everything is set up to be shared with the exception of the sliders. They also have live music that happens on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. We left just as they were setting up the stage, but I'd love to come back to enjoy the food and music!

    Zaatar Fries
    Jynelle Christine S.

I was looking for a new restaurant to try for date night and I'm really glad I found this place! First the food was delicious, we got the zaatar fries, chicken liver and beef cheeks which were all a 10/10. Second the ambiance was great, nice lighting not too fancy but also not too casual - perfect for a weekday date night. And last but certainly not least, the service was wonderful. Probably the best service I've ever experienced! 10/10 definitely recommend

Great selections of wine and also serving some delicious beers. We tried their beer that day and bought a bottle of their orange wine to-go. Great service. Next time interested on coming to do the wine flight.

The coolest restaurant in the South Bay, the best in the Beach Cities. Friendly, attentive service that is genuine and not too fussy creates a casual and welcoming ambiance. Starters are strong, as the Hand of Fatima kicks off our meal with five fingers of fabulous, my faves being the pesto and the rich and salty tapenade. The sides are as strong as standalone dishes, approachable items like Sumac Shishitos, which have these amazing wedges of preserved lemon and Zaatar Fries which have a seasoning that is to die for. All of our entrees are hot plates of hearty comfort. Beef Cheek Cous Cous has chunks of melt-in-your-mouth meat, Lamb Meatballs are flavor-bombs, and that night's Gumbo special has succulent shrimp with a beautiful backdrop of crab notes. Dessert is another special, my personal favorite of all desserts; the Bread Pudding. It's well-balanced, not too gooey and not too sweet. Beautiful food, though we just happened to order everything the same color. Amazing flavors, and every plate has an incredible beauty and warmth. Fantastic food, probably the Beach Cities' best.

The Turkey Club caught my eye--classic, no fuss. I ordered it, skipping the tomato and avocado, and added a side Caesar for balance. Simple, solid, exactly right for that in-between kind of afternoon. Later that evening, I came back to pregame--needed something to smooth the edges. I was headed into a house full of strangers, stepping into a holiday tradition I barely understood. Tito's and tonic felt like exactly what the doctor would've prescribed--crisp, clean, just the right amount of courage in a glass. Mine came with some dipping sauce for the tempura. Considering the amount of food I was very satisfied. The tempura was gorgeously crafted with semi thin crisped batter, and a decent amount portioned. I was mostly amazed by my girlfriends pork plate. Their crisp cutlet had beautifully made with an easy crunchy exterior and soft tender pork savory to taste. All elements complimented each other perfectly. Their soba was also good quality and a nice touch to an already balanced dinner. I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon, where a few other patrons were already dining. The seating has around 6 or so tables inside that can fit around 4 each, and they also have high chairs for children! I ordered a number 17, which is the gyro, and got a side of hummus and pita then found a table to sit at. I had just finished buckling my child into the high chair when my order was delivered to my table! They are super fast here! The super friendly waiter delivered my meal, and I dug in. The gyro was stuffed with meat! This is a huge deal, since a lot of places skimp and don't give enough. So extra points to Al Hamra for a job well done. The flavor of the meat was juicy and well seasoned, super delish! The hummus and pita was good, although I usually add a bit of spices to my hummus so this one was a little plainer than I'm used to. Either way, it was a nice addition to the meal. The grand finale were the desserts! I usually go for baklava, but decided to try the knafeh, a layered cheese dessert with syrup and pistachios. Get the knafeh! The warm cheese and syrup were so delicious and made for the perfect ending to a good meal! I will definitely be back, the food was super tasty, and the people working there were friendly and helpful. Thanks for the happiness, Al Hamra!

Our group of four adults and two kids came in starving. I had the chicken kabob wrap, which was a perfect burrito-sized meal, while my husband enjoyed a beef and chicken kabob plate that fully satisfied his appetite. Honestly, the highlight for me was the warm pita served with garlic mayo, so much better than the cold or room-temperature pitas you often get at otherMediterranean spots. We also shared dessert, the kulfi cheesecake, and left completely stuffed. Al Hamra is a cozy family-run restaurant with just a few tables, but the food makes it well worth it. I'll definitely rotate between this spot and Chicken Maison for future visits.
