On 1/31/25 at exactly 9 pm this young lady with short hair & a cap removed our food without really asking during our conversation and dropped the bill immediately after. The problem for me is that 1) It felt as if we were being ushered out 2) I paid for the food and it should be my decision unless this server wants to pitch in. I didn't want to tip less than 20%-25%, because the other servers were great and wouldn't be fair to them. If this occurred at around 9:45 pm, then i totally get it since the place is closing at 10 PM. And yes, there's still food on the plates. About half a plate of salad, 30% of labneh from the meatballs too. I think what she could've done a lot better is start the convo with 1) the kitchen will be closing soon. do you have any last orders? 2) is there anything i can help clear out for you guys at the moment? 3) do you want any boxes for these by any chance? Overall - i think the food is decent, and other servers were attentive, positive, and friendly. I just think this one server could've handled things a bit differently. Ambiance is cool too. Restroom is clean and smells great. Bill was about ~$130 with tip for 5 dishes and 2 beers I would rate this place about a 4-5/5 absent of this experience, but it would go unnoticed if i didn't give this rating. Came in very exotic but simply oste style interior were welcoming. We've started with their cocktails this frico float was very lemony tasty one, and the eggplants... harmonious blends of all the spices with full body texture of eggplant fining with smoky umami! Was the Best eggplant dish in Southern California. We had an amazing dinner at Barsha. Our meal consisted of the Hand of Fatima, every bite was tasty and the bread was perfection. Falafel sliders were so moist and generous portions. We eat falafel regularly and most times they are dry and crumbly - these were AMAZING. Seafood stew (sorry don't remember the name), generous portion and everything cooked perfectly. Our picky son (teenager) had the Pappardelle and he gobbled it up. To finish off our meal we had 2 desserts and this couldn't have been a better end to our meal. The service was the best, very attentive without being overbearing. We did not have to ask for anything as we felt our needs were seen to immediately (water, plate clearing). Trying new restaurants with unique cuisine you've never tried can be both precarious and exhilarating. I'm happy to report pure exhilaration dining at Barsha- from the food (Tunisian) to the service to the drinks to the atmosphere. We had an excellent group of shareable items: lamb meatballs, Tabil branzino, beef cheek cous cous, and a creamy asparagus soup. The lamb meatballs were full of flavor, moist, and just plain awesome. The branzino had a delicate, textured multi-layered taste unlike any branzino I've ever tried. The beef cheek morsels melted in your mouth like they'd been stewing for many hours. I dared myself to order A Night in Tunisia, a concoction of vermouths, cider, bitters and more --which tasted like a Manhattan. They pride themselves on an eclectic variety of interesting wines (they also run a cool wine bar nearby). The place plays silent movies and The Three Stooges near the bar, plus there's a stage live music. The owner makes a point of making sure you're well taken care of. Barsha has been a consistent semi-go-to place for a different type of experience in the South Bay. The food is decent, the value is ok, and the menu hardly changes except the occasional special. The Hand of Fatima is worth ordering, but small on portion size...as most of the other dishes. Some of the other dishes, like the lamb meatballs are heavy with salt. Unfortunately, this is not the place to take someone on a romantic date. It is a fairly noisy (not in a good way) restaurant, with the sound traveling and echoing that it's difficult to have a conversation. On several occasions, there have been young children making enough consistent noise to overwhelm the experience (and with the restaurant's industrial building design - the noise is amplified). There is occasional live entertainment which is questionable at best. Servers are nice and fairly attentive. Just be prepared to not have a relaxing dining experience -- it feels more like fast casual to me but with a higher price tag. Definitely overrated, not sure why there are so many 5 stars...many other standout restaurants in the South Bay. read more

I was so excited to try Tunisian cuisine, so I was a little disappointed to learn that the restaurant toned down the spice level to accommodate local tastes, because the food was not spicy at all. While the food was good in a technical sense (especially the Tabil Branzino), it seemed to lack something. I would like to try the original version of things, so I hope there will be a "spicy" option available in the future. SERVICE: Staff is very attentive and friendly. Our server checked on us regularly and readily answered my questions, demonstrating excellent familiarity with the menu. AMBIENCE: Homey. WOW. Every single dish that our party of three ordered this evening was absolutely fabulous. For starters, we shared the house made farmers cheese, zaatar fries, and roasted cauliflower. We ordered lamb meatballs, falafel sliders, and the special fried chicken as a main dish, and for dessert we shared a fig brownie with ice cream on top. They were all so good that I would gladly order them again, but I bet that everything else here is fantastic, so I should probably branch out the next time I go. I can't even tell you which of the many things I ate this evening was the best, because they were all great. We were going to eat inside, but it was Sunday night so the band was playing, and we thought it might be a little loud, so we sat on the patio. Even though it was cold and windy outside, the patio was very well protected, and there were ample heat lamps. The music was great, and so was the service. I can't wait to go back here again. Awesome evening from start to finish. Superb service, terrific ambiance and a menu that some might say is small, but I say everything on the menu is perfected down to the smallest couscous pearl. A Night in Tunisia, sips beautifully - it's like exotic Tunisia in a glass - and sets the tone for what's to come. We shared the Hand of Fatima, every spread was delightful and freshly made: hummus, harissa, pesto and olive tapenade- I almost licked the little bowls. The cheese and charcuterie board was super delicious as was the ceviche. The 2 types of bread and crostini were equally superb. And the lamb meatballs served with labneh over couscous was divine. Washed it all down with a liter of Chardonnay (their wine list is blissful, terrific selection). A double espresso and the Rose Trifle to end the evening...absolutely delicious! The ambience is lovely, there is a Moroccan vibe, the service was excellent and attentive, and we tried lots of things, and the food was creative and delicious. I do have to add one criticism however: every dish we ordered was a little over salted which made it harder to distinguish both the subtler and even more assertive flavors because the salt was so dominant. Perhaps it was just tonight's chef who was a little heavy handed with the shaker and others are not as much, so I will have to try again as this was my first time. read more

Stepping into Barsha is a bit like entering a different world with Moroccan/Tunisian light fixtures and rugs displayed on the walls. We received warm welcome from the owner who was very engaging. The DOD was the true standout with everything prepared in house. We started with Tunisian bruschetta which was made with tuna and spices. The eggplant was superbly prepared with cherry tomatoes and perfect spicing. We had the fish stew as the main which also did not disappoint. The bread was house made, grilled and served with house made olive butter that provided extra taste and smooth texture. Yay for such a fabulous restaurant in the South Bay. I can not remember the last time that I had such an enjoyable dining experience. What a complete gem! This place is found on the Big Lots plaza off aviation Blvd with tons of parking. Don't let the plaza fool you since the ambience and food quality will rival any Manhattan Beach or Hermosa hotspot. The food was absolute deliciousness... not one disappointment. My absolute favorite was the arugula salad and farmers cheese dishes. Very refreshing and all the flavors blended perfectly. The branzino was cooked to perfection and I would highly recommend. Service was great too. They have indoor and outdoor seating with lots of space in between diners. They can help you pair a good wine with your meal and the spritz cocktail was really good. I am already trying to make another reservation so that I can try more on their menu. Barsha is a cute little Tunisian-American place in Hermosa Beach with indoor dining and a small outside patio. They have a bar, but they only appear to have a wine and beer license. We started with the hand of fatima which was an adorable small tray in the shape of a hamsa with dips in even smaller trays for each finger (olive tapenade, a cliantro-based pesto, harissa) as well as olives and hummus (with a small bowl for olive pits in the center). This arrived within minutes after ordering. I loved the tapenade and my wife really liked the pesto. The hummus had just a little too much tahini for my taste. There was plenty of accompanying grilled bread. We next jumped into the small bites with roasted eggplant, stewed chickpeas and falafel sliders (you get 2 in an order). Each was delicious, quite different and quickly devoured. For the bigger bites we enjoyed the soyrizo shakshuka and the pappardelle (pasta with mushroom ragout). These were also solid and perfect for sharing. At this point, we didn't quite make it through all of that food, but had to try at least one of the dessert options. We picked the fig browny with vanilla ice cream and balsamic glaze. It was gooey and tasty, though not the best brownie I've had and for some reason, the vanilla ice cream reminded me of the marshmallows in lucky charms (go figure). Just as we were starting to leave, a musician got on stage and started to play the acoustic guitar and sing. Oh, yeah, there's a stage at one end of the small dining room. It looks like they have music most Fridays and Saturdays as well as the occasional Sunday. Overall, we thought this was a great little place with well prepared and unusual food, great service and a reasonable price. It's well worth the visit. read more

What a pleasant surprise! I would never have stopped here because it's in a strip mall that doesn't look promising. I was brought here as a gift by friends who know the area and I will be back! Try the farmers cheese, try the falafel sliders, and finish with that damn fig brownie! This is a privately owned restaurant and the owner is there frequently, his lovely wife and two daughters help run the restaurant when they're around. The staff is pleasant and the wine is a full, healthy pour. If you like sparkling - order the Frizzante - it's a great way to start your meal! read more

My wife and I spent our 4 year anniversary at Barsha last night and it was an amazing experience. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered the popular hand of Fatima, beef cheek cous cous, chicken Mosil, roasted eggplant, and the crudo. Each item was delicious and we highly recommend. The owner, Adnan, came to each table to great the guests which made everyone feel special. We joked with him, as a Moroccan who selfishly thinks our food is the best in the world, Tunisian food may have the edge on us now, ha. The employees were excellent and gave us the warmest welcome as well as great service during our time there. To top it off they had a live smooth jazz band which made the atmosphere perfect! I ended up coming to Barsha because i've been trying to support Black and Brown owned restaurants, and Barsha is one of the few in the South Bay/Hermosa area. it did not disappoint. The restaurant is Tunisian, and everything we ordered was FULL of flavor. Most highly recommend the lamb meatballs (pictured), and mussels (never fail). Our small group of 3 sat outside at a patio table with plenty of distance between the rest of the tables. (they're doing a really good job of keeping everyone distanced and safe).
