Today we came for brunch my husband had the eggs and homemade sausage with homestyle potatoes I had eggs over easy with rice and teriyaki beef. Service here is quick and efficient. Coffee is fresh and delicious. The ambience reminds me of Home in Hawaii when coming here please be sure to tip the server. Well, it is a local owned business.
Came on a Sunday morning, there was lots of parking in the private lot in the strip mall. There was a short line which moved quickly. So no real wait. Pay at the counter then find a seat. I got the combo plate with roast pork and aunties chicken. The roast pork was soft and cut thick and gravy poured on top. I guess I'm used to the pork being cooked in the gravy so it's drenched in gravy. I did wish there was gravy over the rice and mac salad, guess I should have asked. Aunties fried chicken had a nice light crispy crust, You could tell the chicken was seasoned but I wish it was seasoned more, it was a bit subtle. Maybe season the breading too? Idk. I also got the coconut coffee was nice and sweet. A nice balance of sweet coconut and bitter coffee. Service was friendly. There was lots of parking, the place seats about 30 people. At times the line gets longer but many people are picking up phone in or online orders so it's not as bad as it seems.
We were in the area and looked up Hawaiian food eateries nearby that were open on Sunday morning. That led us to Aunties Cafe in the Gateway Plaza of Gardena. The long strip mall had plenty of open parking which was a nice perk. A short line of customers was in front of us that grew longer by the time we finished our meal. The inside of the suite wasn't very large and could seat maybe thirty customers. A two-page menu sheet featured breakfast, sandwiches, musubi, soup, and drinks on one side. The other page listed plates, loco moco, seafood, fried rice, and healthy options. The variety and number of offerings were extensive for a mom-and-pop kitchen. My friend chose one of the dozen breakfast choices while I selected a Sausage Musubi and a traditional Loco Moco for my meal. We grabbed one of the empty tables and waited for our order to be delivered which happened within 15 minutes. The musubi arrived first and was a decent size for $2.75. A slice of Portuguese sausage was sandwiched in between two layers of rice that was held together by a seaweed wrap. Unfortunately, the more I bit into the musubi, the more it fell apart which hasn't happened much when I eat this product elsewhere. The Loco Moco was hamburger patties served over white rice with brown gravy topped with eggs over medium (my choice). The item was served in a shallow bowl which I thought was unusual. That made it more difficult to cut the patties into smaller pieces. The portion size was alright for the price while the flavors were straight comfort food. For our visit to Aunties Cafe, I gave a 3.5 star rating for the Hawaiian cuisine experience.
Not sure how I haven't dropped a review for Aunties ... anyway, it's time Dropped in for breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning last month. Hawaiian spot open that early (7AM). I showed up at 6:58. Was still invited inside to sit while everything was being set up. Ordered a simple breakfast (Portuguese Sausage & Eggs) with a Spam Musubi and a Coke (Fountain) btw, comes with rice. See pics. Was craving something from my childhood and Aunties checked off all the boxes. Sitting there enjoying every bite down to the last grain of rice, I remembered learning to make this back when I was 7 or 8 years old. I didn't ask but the only thing missing was Chili Pepper water. Service was good - I say good because there was nothing wrong. Friendly. Follow up. Left me to enjoy my meal. Even after I was finished and just relaxing (on my phone) she checked on me. Not rushed to get out. Lots of parking. I think Aunties isn't open for dinner or they close early so parking isn't an issue during the dinner rush. At least I've never had a problem eating at any of the places in that plaza. Anyway - better late than never for my review of this place for back home comfort style food.

We wanted to go to Pan's but the wait was 40 minutes so we opted to try out Aunties Cafe instead. Solid place to go for Hawaiian food. Servings are quite big. Locals seem to like this place. I had the loco moco. The gravy was so good and the patties were well seasoned. My friend ordered the chicken and waffle, which was good too. Their coffee is self serve and refillable.
I had a craving for Hawaiian food and decided to check this place out. Located in the large strip mall area near El Pollo Inca. Walking into the restaurant it's nice and clean. I decided to get a two item combo with Auntie's fried chicken and the Mongolian beef. The combo comes with a scoop of rice and Mac salad. The Mongolian beef was way too sweet for my taste. I ended up eating a couple of bites and trashed the rest. The fried chicken was just okay. The mac salad was overly mayonnaise and runny. I also ordered a side of Portuguese sausage patties which you get two for $8. Definitely was lacking something in the flavor. My benchmark for Portuguese sausage is Gardena Bowl Coffee shop. Sorry it was a big disappointment. There's definitely way better Hawaiian eateries in the area.
Clean and cozy restaurant. Ordered to go. Nice friendly staff. The chicken were nice and tender, but not greasy. I had the Samin noodle soup, it was perfect. My kids liked it. Price were reasonable. Good quality and alternative to Ono.

Walk in, grab any open table, snag a menu from the rack on the left, then head up to the register to order. Super easy setup, and they bring the food right to you. We went for the Locomoco (upgraded with bacon fried rice) and Rudy's Locomoco. Me: 8/10 -- solid, but I kept wishing for a little kick. Chili oil probably would've done the trick. Sonny: 8.5/10 -- same thought, spice would've leveled it up. Rabsang: 8.5/10 -- loved the touch of sweetness. Iber: 8/5 -- portions are HUGE, like seriously enough for two. Overall: sweet + savory flavors, total Hawaiian comfort food vibes, and portions that will leave you stuffed. A little more spice and it'd be perfect, but still a spot worth hitting up if you're hungry and craving island vibes.
Aunties cafe is one of my favorite comfort meals! It's raining, it's been a long week, I had a break in a crazy day so I headed straight down Artesia to Gardena from Carson! When I walk in I know the owner is going to greet me with a smile and a quick energetic conversation about sports! I know the quality of my food will be hot, fresh, consistent and delicious and i know my to-go order will be speedy and accurate! It's not just the amazing food that's comforting but it's also the reliability of the restaurant! I've been coming here since they opened and I've never been disappointed! Love this mom and pop spot, the bacon fried rice is the BEST. Also recommend their breakfast burrito (usually get the Kalua pork) and the chicken and waffles. Order at the counter and if you order a drink then it's self serve. Nice large tv inside too. I see a lot of people order takeout.
First time here. I ordered the Portuguese Sauage, Scrambled Eggs with Bacon Fried Rice. The young lady that took my order was very pleasant. The lady that brought my food to the table was a bit rude. Don't know if she was having a bad day, but she just dropped the plate of food on the table and didn't not acknowledge me when I said thank you. The Portuguese Sausage was a bit greasy but very flavorful. The Eggs were cooked well and the Bacon Fried Rice was a bit salty. Over all I probably would not go back and will stick to going to other Hawaiian Restaurants and take out places in the area.

We came by Memorial Day bc since many of the restaurants I bookmarked were closed around the area. Also, the other brunch restaurant on the strip was a 40 minute wait... so that's how we came to visit here! Although, not a bad choice. Expect a diner like cafe. It wasn't busy at all. You order at the cashier and they deliver to your table. We got the loco moco and the kualoa pork breakfast burrito. The food was pretty ok, loco moco tasted very home cooked, which was not bad! The patty was well seasoned, but the gravy was a bit bland. It was well balanced when eating it altogether. The kualoa pork breakfast burrito was interesting to try, although, the green sauce they added made the overall taste a bit confusing. So I enjoyed it without the green sauce. The pork could be softer, but it was an interesting take. Overall, the food was okay, but the girl handling the cashier, cleaning tables, and serving the food is working hard! My husband and I decided to try out Aunties, since we've tried a handful of Hawaiian spots, but none of them have really hit the spot. I ordered the two combo plate with fried chicken and teriyaki beef. Those two seemed like the most popular options. Everything was so well flavored and marinated. Usually Hawaiian places provide a sauce with the fried chicken, but this place didn't provide sauce, and it also didn't need it. The batter and chicken have a super flavorful and slightly sweet marinade. I will say enthroning I ordered today was sweet, so I might try the spicy chicken or some other saltier protein for a more balanced flavor profile. The Mac salad is also really good, it's not too heavy. This place is a fantastic choice for a nice Hawaiian meal. read more

The food was meh. Teri beef had a sticky and slimy consistency with onions and green bell peppers? The boneless fried chicken had no flavor, if anything it was very oily. Fried rice and mac salad were solid. The service and restaurant were clean. I'd recommend the owner going to Hawaii and at least eating at Zippy's to get a real taste of Hawaiian local food. read more
Nice little place in one of the hundreds of Gardenq strip malls. Tried the mini teriyaki chicken plate and the mini Aunti's island fried chicken with fried rice. The chicken on both plates was kinda chewy. To me that indicates that maybe the chicken was not the highest quality. We didn't finish either plate. The fried rice and mac salad were really good. It's time to find a new breakfast burrito spot. I used to be a regular--ordering 2-3 times a week just a few months ago. Back then, the burritos were hearty, flavorful, and well worth the price. Today, I decided to treat myself and was completely let down. The burrito was noticeably smaller than what I used to get, and it wasn't even filled properly (see photos). For over $13 in person--or over $17 online--this is just unacceptable. Even the salsa has changed; it used to be thicker, now it's watery and less savory. While the food was still pretty good (though left me hungry), the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It's frustrating to see the quality drop this much, especially for a business I supported so often. Sadly, I won't be coming back. read more

Spam musubi had the perfect amount of rice. The coconut iced coffee was refreshing and sweet. The staff is friendly and service is fairly quick. You order and sit down for the food to be delivered. More like 3.5 stars. Came back today, 3/8/25 as we were craving local breakfast. The service was good. The young lady who took our order was friendly and welcoming. You order at the counter and grab a table if you're eating in. We ordered the Auntie's special with 3 meats omelette. In my opinion, this omelette didn't look appetizing, there was no veggies and the shape was not what I would expect an omelette to look like. I upgraded to fried rice and glad I did to give my plate a more appealing look. I also ordered a spam musubi and the rice was dry and tasted uncooked to me. The rice and spam ratio definitely had a lot more rice. My family ordered Portuguese fried rice, chicken and waffles and aunties chicken plate and side tots. The side tots was a little over $3 for such a small portion. In the past, it looked like there were 2 waffles in the order but this time, there was only 1 in the chicken and waffles order. The restaurant is kept clean and we enjoyed the music that was playing. read more

Ono kine! (Hawaiian pidgin/English for good food). Been a while since our last dine in visit and had the opportunity to eat here on a late Sunday morning. Was here for brunch and we got spam musubi, eggs, corned beef hash, and potatoes. To drink we got a lilikoi passion fruit beverage. Everything on point! You order at the counter and they bring you utensils, beverages, and your food. Service was pleasant. The person who seemed to be the manager was kind enough to check on us. Auntie's is located in a quite lengthy strip mall full of a variety of restaurants from Peruvian, Japanese, sandwiches (Lee's), burgers, California Fish, teriyaki, etc, etc not far from the 91 freeway. Lots of parking available. The water is self service in a container with adjacent cups. The to go boxes are on an accessible table. On past occasions, we have had the fried chicken which also delicious. We'll be back. Mahalo! read more

I got the Rudy's Loco Moco and it came with one beef patty, a corned beef hash patty, and some sliced up Portuguese sausage, eggs, rice, and gravy. It was absolutely delicious and filling. The food did take a bit long but the guy told us it was because he sent it back to make sure my over-easy eggs were made perfectly (and they were). Not sure if it was the owner but the same guy checked up with us plenty of times to ensure everything was good. The place was a bit small and there was a lot of people but everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. Overall I had a pleasant experience and will be returning. read more

Aunties Cafe reminds of the local cafes in Maui. It is a small restaurant with a few tables and booths. I have never had to wait for a tabel here.You find mostly locals eating here. After a few trips, the faces become familiar. This is family run and owned.i usually order the local moco here. The food here is average. The gravy is homemade. The burger was cooked medium. Still tender and juicy. The coffee is serf served. They have coffee creamers available.The coffee is not bad.I don't think it is Kona coffee, though. A taste of Hawaii in Gardena. read more

First off let me say the level of ALOHA is a big ZERO! No one greeted you when you came in. No one said please sit where ever you like. Even when you found your own table no one asked what you would like to drink...STRIKE ONE. After we realized that no one was coming to take our order from the table my wife saw a line forming up at the register. I guess you have to pay first and after this whole experience I see why. When the food finally arrived it was all cold. I guess instead of heat lamps to heat your food it's cooling it off. STRIKE TWO. Finally the food was absolutely FLAVORLESS! I don't have many opportunities to treat myself to Portuguese sausage because of health issues but how do you screw that up? Even when burt it should have some kind of taste. STRIKE THREE. There were a whole other list of things wrong with this place but three strikes is all it takes to make this a ONE AND DONE. I don't recommend this place at all. Save your money and go to gardena bowl up da street. You will definitely get your money's worth and the food there is delicious. Don't believe the reviews for this place. The portion size is crap too. Look how small the scoops of rice are. So so very sad and I had hoped for a great breakfast. My friends and I originally were going to the Pan a couple businesses down, but due do the over 1 hour wait at the Pan, we decided to give Aunties Cafe a try! They have various Hawaiian breakfast options. It's an order-up-front at the counter, then sit down kind of place. Our food came out super fast! I was craving something sweet for breakfast, so I got the french toast with fruit. They originally forgot to put the fruit on my french toast, but after reminding them, they were super nice about it and gave it to me afterwards. It was honestly nothing special. For the price, the portions were a bit small. The fruit was sweet and as fresh as could be, but again nothing special. I would have preferred a fruit compote over the toast. I also got a side of breakfast potatoes. The portion was super small for a side that costs over $4. Flavor was alright. My friends got the Portuguese sausage fried rice & the loco moco, which they enjoyed. If I come back I'll probably give those dishes a try but I'll avoid the French toast & potatoes. read more

Wanted some Hawaiian fried rice and this place showed up so decided to give it a try! Got the Shari's fried rice for take out and it was really good! For the meats, it had bacon, ham, and char siu! The fried rice had lots of flavor. The only downside- it was a bit heavy and oily (maybe from all the meats?) so we had kimchi with it and the acidity made it better.
