This visit, however, was actually a pleasure. Dr. Chiu was super friendly and amiable. She had lots of enthusiasm, and she happily and eagerly answered all of my questions about eye balls. I didn't feel rushed or pressured into anything, and she seems like a really great doctor who actually cares about her patients. Much respect. The staff was also great: very nice and helpful. Highly recommended.

I came across this place and after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a shot. Communication started via email by inquiring if they accept my insurance. They do, and they advised me when on the soonest I could make an appointment (when my 1 year since the last appointment is reached). I went ahead and made an appointment for my comprehensive eye exam and they emailed me the necessary forms (new patient, etc.) to complete prior to my appointment day. Reponse time was quick! Fast forward to appointment day (today). I walked in and was greeted by a friendly person at the desk who accepted my completed forms. I waited for a short period of time then I was called up to do the usual testing (peripheral vision, etc.) on the machines. She also did a iWellness Retina Exam (optional, additional fee, pretty cool to see a cross section of your eyeballs) to assess the health of my eye. I didn't catch her name, but the person who helped me was very friendly and helped me feel at ease. Once the tests were done, I was walked over to the neighboring room for the comprehensive eye exam with the optometrist. The optometrist who saw me, Sophia, was awesome! She's very knowledgeable (as she should be) and answered all the questions that I had. She provided helpful information to take care of my eyes and my Meibomian glands. Thorough, friendly, and professional are just a few of the many words that could describe her. I can imagine parking might be difficult during lunch time on the weekdays, but anytime before or after should be OK. They are closed every Sunday and tuesday. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a forever optometrist!

I came in about a month ago to get contact lenses for the first time. After seeing the perfect reviews, I decided to give Optometry Corner in Irvine a try despite the higher price for an eye exam. I was told that my contact lenses would arrive a week after my eye exam. After a week I didn't receive a call and when I called to check in, I was told that my contact lenses were delayed for a month and then was told that it was the standard wait time. So I waited, a few weeks passed by and then I received a phone call that my left eye lenses have arrived and if I already picked up my right eye. No I haven't, because they haven't arrived yet. So another week went by and I finally got a call that my right eye lenses have arrived and I can finally come and pick up my trial lenses. Keep in mind, this is my first time getting contact lenses. When I come into the store, they hand me a little brown bag with my lenses and tell me "that's it". After arriving home and realizing the difficulty of wearing lenses, I call the office of Optometry Corner to schedule a training session. The girl mentions that since it was my first time I should've had that scheduled but due to a new hire and miscommunication, I will have to wait to see a doctor for the training. I hate to be on the side of negativity or even leave a bad review on a business that requires hard work, but unfortunately the incompetence of basic customer service interaction has been ridiculously frustrating and has worn my patience thin. For now, I will see how things go moving forward with the upcoming appointment.

My overall visit was great, and Amayrani (Amy) stood out in particular. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful without being pushy. I appreciate her ability to help me find frames that flatter my face shape and how clearly she explained the differences between lens options, tints, coatings, and related technology. I'm the kind of buyer who wants to get granular with the details of what I'm spending my money on; Amy delivers on that front. She also made it easy to understand how my EyeMed insurance applied to different frame and lens combinations. I think it is worth mentioning that she answered many of my technical coverage questions in Spanish. This part of my visit felt very straightforward. Overall, this location has a strong team and I think Amy's expertise adds a nice sparkle to the customer experience. I'll gladly keep coming back.

2nd update in response to the business owner, Scott: Scott,…read moreplease don't deflect my concerns by referring to privacy laws and your office records. My concern is the lack of response and proper follow-up from your staff. To clarify, my original review was regarding an incident involving my husband on 9/16. He called your office because his previous emails and text messages regarding his medical records had not received a response. No one answered his phone call. Instead, he received a text instructing him to communicate with the office by text--even though he had already been trying to reach your staff by both email and text without getting a response to his request. As for my own experience, I have also had difficulty getting my questions properly addressed. I have received repetitive or generic text responses that did not actually answer what I was asking. Simply sending a text within 24 hours does not mean that a patient's question or request has been addressed. We have been patients at your office for over seven years, and this review reflects our actual recent experiences. The issue is not whether your records show that a text was sent. The issue is the lack of meaningful responses, follow-up, and communication when patients are trying to get assistance. Rather than focusing on defending your office's response-time records, I hope you will take this feedback seriously and improve how your staff communicates with and follows up with patients. Update -To the business owner, Scott: I would like to clarify that the incident regarding the unanswered emails, texts, and medical record request happened to my husband over the past two weeks. As for my own experience, every time I have communicated with your staff by text, I have received the same repetitive responses rather than a clear answer addressing my actual question or concern. This has made the communication feel extremely unhelpful and frustrating. Scott, I strongly suggest that you provide better training to your staff on how to communicate with patients, respond to questions directly, and properly follow up on requests. After being patients at your office for over 7 years, we know the level of service and communication we used to receive, and unfortunately, our recent experiences have been very disappointing. Original post- I hate to leave a negative review, especially since we have been coming to this optometry office for over 7 years. Our communication with the staff had always been fine until recently. For the past two weeks, we have been emailing and texting the office to request a copy of our latest medical records. After receiving no response, we called the office and left a voicemail, but no one answered. We then received a text asking us to communicate with them by text instead. It is extremely frustrating and ridiculous that we were asked to text them after no one answered our call, yet they still did not respond to our text messages. We have continued trying to contact the office by phone, email, and text, but have not received a response. As of today, we still have not received the medical records we requested. After being patients here for more than 7 years, this experience has been extremely disappointing. Obtaining your own medical records should not require repeated emails, text messages, and phone calls over a period of weeks. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously and improves its communication and responsiveness. For anyone considering this optometry office, I recommend taking our recent experience into consideration.
