Due to the change of our insurance I was shopping around to find a good optometry, after searching and making some calls I called barranca opt. Staff member named Ellen was extremely friendly and so helpful, Ellen is knowledgeable and professional, after locating my insurance (which it turned out it was different ID number from what I provided her) had it been someone else they would just say sorry we can't find you! But she found it, emailed me my benefits and the correct ID. Just because of Ellen I chose to make an appointment. Dr. Haung was great! He spend so much time examining my son, he was extremely thorough with his examination also very knowledgeable, explaining everything thing with friendly smile and humor. Also, the office is very clean and they are on top of Covid protocols. And the end Pam went over all frame options, Pam was also helpful and patient going over all options. I've gone to Dr. Huang before, and somehow let a year get away from me. Went back, with my 17 yo, last week. She got her contact exam and I got a glasses exam. They were SO thorough and I'm so happy with the new glasses I'm using right now. At the end, he carefully walks me through my different focal lens choices and their potential impact to my vision and even my life. The office is knowledgable, friendly, and helpful, the office hours are accommodating for everyone (I've never had a problem getting an appointment when I needed it, from my student days to now working a full time job in a different city). Dr Huang and his staff honestly care about your vision. The doctor really strives to make your vision the best it can be. I've been to 2 other optometrists and now I realized that they did not work their best for me. One optometrist prescribe me mediocre lens and told me that this is the best I will be able to see through my right eye (I have lazy eye on my right eye). Amazing place. So I went somewhere else a year ago and the doctor was so uncertain about what was best for me. She gave me some contacts that I couldn't see in. Ever since I have avoided going to the doctor to get another eye exam because my schedule is really busy. I took a shot today coming to barranca optometry and I am thankful I did. The location is great. The staff is helpful and doctor is AMAZING. He knew exactly what I was going trough without me even saying a thing. He is sooooo good and professional. I walked out with a pair of contacts that worked perfectly for me. My prescription is VERY complicated but he happened to have a pair of contacts that were exactly my prescription. Absolutely amazing staff and physician. I went there with a ton of pain and feeling the pressure behind my eye. I was coming from Ruth Tang's office where they denied treatment because I didn't have an appointment. Dr. Huang took me in immediately and they checked for the more serious problems first. Called in on Saturday morning for an appointment, and I was able to get squeezed in the same day. I would highly recommend this office! Dr. Huang is very informative and very efficient. He was even able to give me a contact lens to try out the same day! I am so happy with my visit because I can finally see! I've been to other places in the past, and it wasn't until I came here that I realized how bad the other places were. I guess you don't know great service until you finally receive it! I've been going here for the last 4 years and every year their service is improving. I walked out of my Saturday appointment and was like "WOW". That hardly ever happens anymore with any doctor's visit, but from the moment I walked in, the receptionists and the assistants were all very knowledgable and helpful. The doctor was very nice, took a long time to answer all my questions. I did not feel rushed at all and the service was beyond 5 stars. I highly recommend them for your annual check up. I had a terrible and uncomfortable experience with the doctor. My eyes had been very irritated and red for a month and wanted to get a doctor's opinion. I was in his office for an unnecessary amount of time with him, about 45mins. He touched/tapped my leg about 10 times, which made me very uncomfortable. He also made uncomfortable comments about how I looked and what I was wearing, like "oh you're 28, you look like you're 16." He also touched right below my eyes and pushed down without gloves on to check my eye glands, which seems unsanitary. He told me it was dry eye, but then he put Lumify in my eye to make the redness go away, even though I told him I cared more about the irritation and inflammation. I later looked up Lumify and this eye drop product can actually make dry eye worse. He wrote me a prescription for a steroid eye drop after he looked it up in a book he had in his office, but I didn't even process it because it worried me that it would make my symptoms worse. Right after leaving I wish I would have walked out as soon as I felt uncomfortable. I spent an hour in the office, which could have easily been a 30 min visit. I have never wrote a yelp review, but wanted to make sure that any new clients knew what they were getting into if they read this review. read more

I really wish that I could give this Doctor ZERO rating and really not sure that why peoples have lied below. This was the worst Doctor visit for my Mother. First of all we were asked to get out of the Doctors room because he wanted to treat his special guest instead of my 60 years old Mother who is not even feeling very well. Secondly it was disgusting that he kept FARTING in the room in front of me , my mother and my 9 years old daughter. He didn't even check my mothers eye properly as he didn't even bother to do dilation exam. Thirdly he forced us to pay 39 DOLLARS to do a special photo exam which had never happened before with any eye doctors. Basically he is running his extra business. SAME ON THIS DOCTOR.
