The food and service was good. I was disappointed that the prices and the restaurant is fine dining and Yelp does not indicate this. We paid 249.00 for 4 adults and two small children. Also, the menu said that there would be an 18% gratuity, but the check indicated 20%. Nothing was explained or mentioned about the difference. For the money, I would have expected more. The staff wore t-shirts and stretch pants which does not scream fine dining. Also, the server did not clean the table between servings of food so we had dishes that needed to be removed when the entrees came out. Stopped by because our first choice place was closed on New Years Day. I had the Shrimp scampi that was very tasty and large quantity with plenty of shrimp. My fiancé had the special, seafood pasta with lobster, shrimp and scallops, the sauce was phenomenal. More than we could eat. They also had a scallop with pesto that we want to try and will go back for. Like most places here, very rustic and you know that you are near the water. We went in w/o a reservation and they made room for us at 7 and they were packed but accommodated us with a smile. Food was exceptional and diverse for all in our group. One person in our group had a severe gluten allergy and we mentioned it once to the waiter and he remembered and made sure that everything was taken care of for this person. Service was great. We were not impressed with this highly over priced restaurant. He ordered shrimp scampi with was lukewarm and tasted and smelled like sewer water. I ordered the yellowtail snapper which also was lukewarm- also cold mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes that were waay over mashed and reminded me of glue. Great lunch! We had the fried yellowtail snapper sandwich, fried calamari and tostones. Everything was super fresh and delicious. Even my chicken nugget eating kid liked the snapper. Barracuda grille was one of the few restaurants that was open on Overseas Hwy on Christmas Day. The restaurant was also recommended by another resort where we initially tried to score a last minute lunch reservation to no avail. Barracuda grille offers a large selection of dishes to choose from but I'd recommend sticking to the seafood. The coconut encrusted shrimp $13.99 with sweet chili dipping sauce is delicious as are the homemade sangria. Your fish can be grilled, fried, or blacked: get it blackened. read more

Amazing food! We were so happy with our stop at this restaurant. It was the first time we had ever been here. From the moment we entered, we were greeted by the friendly hostess. Eli was our server and she went out of her way to make sure to answer all our questions and also make suggestions. We sat at a table in a quiet area and had just a wonderful time. Sometimes I wonder about the reviews I read or worse yet what standards of comparisons other reviewers have on Yelp when offering their reviews. I had stopped going to this restaurant's several years ago because of the non-socialable customer service, pricey food and mediocre food preparation. After observing changes in the ratings recently I decided to give it another try with friends from out of town. Boy what an embarrassment. For appetizers we had the tuna tetaki and warm brie. Given the prices we thought there would be enough to share. The tetaki was barely enough for an appetizer for one person. The Brie was not warm at all and to add insult to injury we had to ask for it a 2nd time because they forgot to bring it out. Once at the table it was not worth the wait or the 2nd request. I had read about the tomato soup and ordered it. It was good and recommended. For main entree's, we had the scallops over pesto pasta. The pesto pasta was good, but the scallops didn't seem fresh and didn't have a great taste. Also ordered the duck which really tasted like chicken thigh and drumsticks. The shrimp scampi was really good. No one liked the mahi entree, lacked taste all around. For a place where every plate we ordered was over $30 you expect culinary wow. The nail on the coffin was really the wait staff, no interest on interacting with the customer, no attention to detail and could care less about the experience. We just moved to the area and were exhausted after moving and looking for a place to grab a bite late on a Sunday. It appears the rugs are rolled up in KCB early. We happened upon this wonderful restaurant and Junior, our server. He was quite pleasant, efficient and made great recommendations. It's a family business and everyone there was very friendly. The food was "over the moon!" We had the tomato soup, which was served in a very generous quantity for two and we shared it and I have to say it was the best tomato soup we have ever had. Guaranteed! Tuna Tataki was fabulous and because it was late and we didn't want to overeat we both had the Caesar salad with seared scallops which were prepared perfectly. Being a bread pudding fan we ended our meal with that dessert and it was to die for! Awesome job to everyone there. Went here because Florida Keys Steak and Lobster had an hour wait time. Was a bit sus at first because the place looks dark on the outside, although it looks nice inside. Menu was short and pricey. Very pricey. BUT the food was goooood. Kids oodles noodles is basically gourmet mac n cheese.. so good I wish I bought it for that midnight binge watching session, you know? The meatballs aint bad either. I'm not mad. Kids food size is enough to make me full. Adult entree come with salad, which is just lettuce mix, a single grape tomato and freshly shaved parmesan cheese. It was ok. We got the seafood specials (shrimp lobster scallops and mussle) served on pasta with creamy sauce, and crispy duck served with mashed potato (lightly seasoned) and steamed veggies (seasoned!!) Both were goood. I wasnt expecting them to nail the crispy duck but they did. The apricot (?) sauce that came with the duck was a bit too sweet and too little but thankfully the ducks was good on itself. I probably would've enjoyed it more if it comes with more sauce that I can use with the mashed potatoes. read more

I get that, having owned a restaurant in a previous life, but turning business away is never a good thing. Popped into Barracuda Grill and even though they were winding down we were welcomed with enthusiasm. Had the special, ribeye and lobster tail, absolutely cooked to perfection and was delicious. The mashed potatoes were excellent. Took home leftovers and had 2 more meals. Steak and lobster tacos. My wife had the fish special and it too was delish. Made fish tacos from her leftovers. If the grand-baby would wake up we'll head there tonight. Otherwise it will be to go or tomorrow night. Definitely worth the time and money. Excellent service. I want to thank the owners and staff for such an amazing experience. The ambiance and food was excepcional. For appetizers we had tomato soup and calamari it was amazing! On a side note The dressings at the restaurant are 100% homemade so if you are getting salad make sure you get their balsamic dressing. For our entrees we had pasta and my husband had the barracuda salad, the sauces on the pastas and the seasoning on our meals was so different and great (nothing spicy if you are wondering). Edamame app is excellent - pan fried in truffle oil - I've never had them prepared like this before so we loved this dish. I may read wrong about tartar but still it was a frozen tuna instead of fresh Bcs we are on the island next to the ocean. Anyway service is horrible 1 hour waiting for main and water ! They all nice stuff but kitchen needs more employees and needs to more people on the floor because we are not the one waiting food actually. So don't be fooled to busiest time. My sister and I spent the weekend in Marathon and although I've been to many restaurants in the keys, I've never been to Barracuda Grill. The reviews sounded great so I made a reservation for Friday night. What a complete disappointment and waste of money. The waitress was friendly but a mess. Although we were a party of two she went and cleaned and set the table for four (not a big deal), then I asked for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, she gave me a taste of one then returned with a bottle of Chardonnay. I told her I wanted the Sauvignon that I tasted and she said she couldn't find the bottle. When she poured the wine to taste and a glass she dribbled a stream of wine on the table each time. She then asked us why she set a table for four and laughed. We then ordered appetizers, nothing to write home about. Would never order them again. A bus boy then sat at a table next to us and was clanking silverware while sorting it in a tray. Not what we would expect for $130 dinner for two with one glass of wine. We then ordered surf and turf, filet mignon and lobster tail. While we were waiting for our food, our waitress sat down at the table next to us with some other restaurant staff and chatted. We tried to get her eye, when we finally did she went back in the kitchen and got our food. The Florida lobster tail was amazing, the mashed potatoes were excellent but the filet mignon was horrible. Neither of us could eat it. When we asked her what kind of meat that was (it tasted like lamb or something) she seemed offended. We remained friendly with her to get through it but the service was horrible and the food was way over priced for the quality. We talked to a local the next day and they said Barracuda Grill is a tourist trap. Don't waste your money! read more

All of our food was nicely prepared and tasty,and best of all, some of us were able to substitute side dishes (I.e., letting me have a small salad vs. Beans & Rice with my Shrimp Tacos, which was wonderful!) My son had spaghetti and meatballs and the meatballs were really good! I had the baby steak, as recommended. It had a nice flavor but it was given to me well done - I ordered medium rare. My son was having stomach problems so I took it all to go and didn't bother sending it back. Recommendation for keys restaurants- stop providing straws and using styrofoam containers. This is an amazing environment, let's preserve it. We came in for dinner and being a Vegetarian in Marathon can be tricky but this place was awesome. My husband and I both had the Pesto pasta and it was SO fresh and DELICIOUS. Full of veggies that were cooked to perfection and it came with a nice salad and warm fresh bread. My husband also had the red curry shrimp as an appetizer, which could have easily been a meal, it was perfectly cooked and he says: so tasty. We finished with the bread pudding that is a must.
