Food was pretty good! My wife got the Baby Steak and raved on how it melted in her mouth. My daughter in law got the Yellowtail Snapper and it was so much she couldn't finish it all. There were two huge filets on the plate. My son got the Rockhind Grouper and said it was good but he felt it lacked a little in the seasoning department. I had the Curried Brussel Sprouts, the tallow sauce was a bit sweet but definitely had the aroma and taste of Indian Curry. I added salt and pepper and a dollop of their butter and I felt it really changed the flavor for the better! The mashed potatoes everyone enjoyed! The steamed vegetables were under seasoned but then we like a lot of spice and seasoning so we're probably biased. I wish we took pictures but I forgot! We brought RJ's mom here on January 5 because it used to be one of his parent's favorite. Robert was our server and he was very attentive. We started with shumai dumplings and there were so many of them. They were excellent. My salad had fresh Parmesan, and we shared lobster bisque with large chunks of lobster. RJ's mom and I had grouper with lime butter and it was delectable, one of the best grouper dishes I've had down here. RJ had the same with hogfish. His was also amazing. My Google Review, reposted: Is there a microwave in their kitchen? Maybe a better question; how many microwaves are in their kitchen? They might have a few half-working, because the food was half-warm. I believe they thought that chewing the vegetables before microwaving them was a good idea, but it didn't pan out. (I wish I took a picture of their "sautéed" vegetables). If the owner had a gun to his head, he couldn't tell me what sautéed means. A personal note to the owner: Having good reviews means that lots of people don't have taste, it doesn't mean your food is mostly good. Furthermore, the food isn't even mostly bad, it's all bad. The owner recommends McDonald's if you don't like their food. I highly recommend McDonald's because the culinary skill and service far exceeds this "restaurant." This place is a joke! We ordered take out and the food is absolute trash! 60$ for a plain cheeseburger with no condiments, lettuce, tomato, onion...nothing! They didn't include my salad that came with my 20$ spaghetti (which is actually linguini) and frozen meatballs they reheated from a bag! The brownie Sunday looks like it came out of a frozen TV dinner from 1950! So disappointing! Eat somewhere else if you want a decent meal because this place sucks!!!!!! Don't judge this book by its cover. Outside is scary, inside is white linen and terrific food. We had the grilled yellow tail Snapper, and Hog Fish. It comes with the most delicious, fresh, interesting salad. The peppercorn dressing was so good I used it on the hot rolls. My husbands salad had big blue cheese chunks to go with his blue cheese dressing. So delicious I forgot to take a photo of anything after the salad. Fantastic meal, all the way around. For appetizers, We ordered the wahoo fish dip which was outstanding- nice smoke flavor, simple pickle garnish. We had a spicy shrimp app, that had a nice heat to it, but not too heavy. Next we're shrimp dumplings, with a sauce that didn't have much flavor, but the dumplings themselves had a great texture and taste. We added a Curry Brussels Sprouts to satisfy my likings, and while the curry aroma was strong, the flavor was a nice mellow balance. It was a wet preparation, and I normally like mine roasted and crispy, but these were a nice change. For Entrees, we had a seafood medley pasta special- lobster, Shrimp and Scallops which was done to perfection. A few of us had the Rock Hind Grouper special, which was cooked perfectly, and had a delicious Key Lime Butter. Personally, I had the yellow tail snapper with a nut butter. The fish portion was generous and cooked well, but the flavor wasn't much. I was wishing I had a different preparation (three options) after tasting someone's key lime finish. Beer selection was good- not overly large, wine was smaller. Service was fantastic, timing of food well done. Great decor- smaller place so calling ahead with a big group would be helpful. So I am super picky when it comes to service normally but in the keys you have to expect it to be a little more island time. Not here our server Robinson was awesome. He was super attentive even while handling multiple tables. Great service in the keys is hard to fine! This restaurant is run the right way! Ok the food. We had the Tipsy olives! Amazing! The fish dip with the sweet pickles is strongly recommended ! Best I have had in a very long time. There were 4 of us and not one single complaint for taste, temp or portion size! After having a fish meal at Ceviche 105 in downtown Miami we thought it can only get better or stay the same. This meal was way below par. We never had conch fritters so we have nothing to compare it to but wings we had in an abundance and it was over fried and tasteless. We order fried fish and substituted regular french fries with yucca fries. The waitress strongly suggested we have the regular french fries but we both enjoy yucca fries. Duck was dry and crust on top was barely cut-able. Steamed Vegetables completely unseasoned. Spaghetti and meatballs were bland, their special with seafood pasta was okay though. Nothing special. Music was all over the place and was decorated pretty uninviting despite the outside seating. Free bread is always nice, but I wouldn't waste your time here, no wonder nobody was here. Online the menu and reviews are great! Maybe this was a bad night or this is just a lunch place but it's got some serious work to do.
