We've driven by this place a hundred times and written it off as a tourist trap. Was driving by and stopped for lunch. We could not have been more wrong with our opinion of this place. Started off with a calamari appetizer that was crisp and golden brown. Tried the house made tomato soup and it was among the best I've had. Had the churrasco steak and it was well marinated and fork tender. Wife had the fresh hog fish. Fish was crisp and was definitely hogfish which is always a concern for me. Service was on point and server took pride in the food. We will hit this place up again for dinner next time we are in the area. read more

So my wife's first impression outside was that this was a hole in the wall. It's not. It's an expensive dining option. But.... It's an excellent one to have. Particularly with teens and teens who are a bit more adventurous. We loved it and left stuffed afterwards. We started with the Magic Mussels. Huge. Or YUUUUGE. Enough for the table to share. With a fantastic Sauce. Only complaint is hat we needed more bread to mop it up. And then the salads. Generously portioned and fresh. And the main dishes. A roast duck that was not dried out. A snapper that was sweet and spicy. A scallop dish big enough to share. And a kids steak. It was a little pricey but done well. Again the main dishes run in the $35 range. My family and i arrived at 6:25 on the dot and were the first table for the night. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and sat down by the window. The menu was skimp and the dishes were pricey but not out of the ordinary for decent restaurants in the keys. We ordered clam chowder for appetizer which came in such a big portion that we each had 1.5 bowls. Our salads were also delicious and the endless bread was warm. When the main courses arrived, we were delighted. Everything was delicious and the portions were huge. Even though my sister and I ordered the New Orleans seafood spaghetti to share we still had a whole portion left to be taken home. My mom's shrimp scampi was also very tasty -- the shrimps were expertly sauteed. My stepdad's hog fish was the perfect size and he highly recommends it. Our waitress Yani and her husband have created a wonderful restaurant, it is beautiful but most importantly the food is the best in Marathon Key. Every person we encountered during our trip told us to try Barracuda Grill, and I am so glad we did. I have never left from a restaurant so happy, the food was cooked to perfection (we had the fried calamari, hogfish, grouper, tuna tataki, and bread pudding). The seafood was so fresh, the fish melted in our mouths. Each bite from each plate was delicious, we were so full but we kept on ordering since we wanted to try as much as possible. Went to Barracuda for lunch this Wednesday, 6-10-20 with my sister and kids. We were sat far apart from other party inside the restaurant and our server, Junior, was always wearing a mask. The restrooms were super clean too. We ordered the conch fritters, which were so delicious and 3 grilled fish platters with steak fries. Really tasty fresh fish. Kids got burgers and chicken tenders. My friend and I ordered the warm Brie and the scallops with pesto linguine. All really good. Scallops were large and tender. They split the dish for us no questions asked. Can with a side salad that was also split for us. Bleu cheese dressing was phenomenal. Home made. $37 for the scallops pasta was overly expensive for the dish in my experience. The scallops were delish, but they were paired with literally pasta with pesto. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I would go back to try other things for sure but maybe not the same dish. We were fortunate to get a table right away. I had a nice pinot grigio and loved the warm brie appetizer. The blackberry sauce complimented it so well. The meal came with bread and salad. We shared an entree but they have us each a salad for a $5 charge. I thought that was completely fair bc the blue cheese dressing was homemade and to die for. The salad also had these great little peppers on it. The scallops pesto pasta was just what I wanted. It was fresh and sauteed well. I adore scallops and these were large with a perfect golden crust. Just really a little known gem of a restaurant. 24 years of home cooked meals by the husband and wife team. Short ribs are delightful tender and flavorful served over mashed Yukon gold potatoes. Wonderful fresh caught red snapper. A great wine list of less familiar wines with great character. Key Lime pie (naturally) from chef harvested Key Limes. This was hands down the best restaurant I've been to in the Keys. With our large group, they accommodated every need, and even gave us free drunken cherries! The food was beyond delicious. We ordered probably everything on the menu and everything exceeded our expectations. Multiple people in our group had the filet and they described it as "top notch!" And "the best I've ever had."
