Cute space with seating. Lots of bread and beverage options. Was difficult to communicate with staff due to language barriers but we eventually figured it out. I had the layered fresh watermelon and honey dew drink and a cheese cake. I did not like either, cheese cake was way too sweet and didn't taste much like cheesecake. The watermelon drink was pretty and had a nice presentation but it lacked composition you'd look for in a fruit drink. It was fresh fruit and that aspect was an nice option for hydration. Came here to order a cake for Father's Day and the lady who assisted me was very nice and helpful. Fast forward to today when I came to pickup my cake, the service was terrible. I was being helped by a guy worker with multiple earrings who gave me my cake. Since this was during the father's day promotion, they were giving out a free umbrella with minimum spend. I asked the guy worker if it was possible to get the blue umbrella and before he could answer, this lady worker jumps in to interrupt and quickly grabs a beige umbrella and says rudely with a lot of attitude "you can't pick." Then, she started questioning how much my cake was and if it hit the minimum spend. My receipt clearly met the spend and there was no reason for her to treat me like a thief. Disgusting behavior and I will never come back to be treated like this as a customer. Hope management sees this and takes action against such an employee. Long review, I like their bread and pastries but not their cakes. They promote so much cake photos on yelp but in reality their cakes arent all that. 2/5. Maybe it use to be really good but now, its really not. Its pricy and for the product to not even contain flavored cream and lack of craftsmanship on the art of decoration, was disappointing. It was a simple fruit and whip cream on a sponge cake for almost $70. Yes its customized(selected from the preset menu), but not worth. As for their bread selections, its cute! They have different pastries and buns. Very interesting mixes. 4/5. I personally love their taro bun, its flaky and the filling is very nice. A little artificial but very much a nice taro flavor. I came here on a Friday morning after grocery shopping on 8th Ave. The place was super cute (like most Asian cafes) and there was a lot of seating. The breads and pastries were quite interesting and had flavors I had not seen at other Asian bakeries. I got a New Orleans chicken thigh bun and a strawberry cream baguette. I'm not quite sure what made it New Orleans? It wasn't spicy and it didn't have Cajun seasoning. It did have a chicken thigh and cheese inside (maybe that's New Orleans style?). It was very tasty though. The strawberry cream baguette was not too sweet and had fresh strawberries. The bread was soft and fluffy. Service was okay, not very friendly though. Yumyumyum. Happened to stumble upon this bakery after my toddler's dental visit and was pleasantly surprised by the selection available. The 2nd time I stopped by a bit earlier and there were even more options. Their buns are so fluffy and soft. Some more flavorful than others. My favorite so far is a mochi chocolate bun (there was a 3rd ingredient but I forgot what it was. Might've been cranberry). The creativity and the pricing is very reminiscent of Sunmerry, which is another one of my favorite Asian bakeries. I would have to say the chocolate mousse cup was meh. Also happens to be the only photo I have of this place lol. Tasted like whipped cream with some cocoa powder or very minimal melted chocolate added to it. Cute though. Noticed that the little plastic plant pot is from Restaurantware and their products are good quality (and pricey), which most likely explains the $5 something price tag. Cakes and buns are expensive: a hotdog bun cost $3 bucks, just because it has a cute teddy bear cutout. Cakes are $6 per slice (comes in a Peppa Pig box), and drinks are $4 and up. New bakery opened during a pandemic -- bad timing but I'm happy for more bakery options. I haven't been inside but from pictures, it looks very chic. This bakery opened just in time for my grandma's birthday celebration, because we were looking for a cake. I was impressed with their cake selection, mostly the way they decorate it. Called them the day before to place an order. There might be a language barrier if you do not speak Chinese (mandarin, to be specific). Staff's English is very limited. Anyways, there's many cake flavors to choose from. We ordered a black sesame cake -- costed about $60 for an 8inch. It was beautifully decorated. The cake tasted great. It wasn't too sweet (good for asian families), cream was very light (like the Paris Baguette chiffon cake cream), and the cake was very moist. I placed a cake order for pickup, and when I went to pick it up at the scheduled time, I noticed that they did not even make the cake yet, despite the order being placed and a cake pickup time was scheduled. When I went to confront them about this, the worker was not professional and simply agreed that yes, the cake was not made. That's it. There was no apology, no acknowledgement of the mistake on their part or for the inconvenience. This terrible service was absolutely unacceptable. They make it seem like the world revolves around them, simply from the absolutely terrible attitude from the worker. Makes me wonder how the workers are being trained there. Never coming here again. The worker seem like they didn't want to be there and one was always on her phone. Came last minute to pick up a birthday cake. They had about 6-7 cakes on display around noon time. We picked out a strawberry fresh cream cake with chocolate drizzled on the outside which was 56$. Other cakes with simpler designs were 46$. The cake itself tasted pretty good. Cream is very light and unsweetened. It didn't have a WOW factor on the first bite but I would probably come back again to try another cake. Their cake is actually better than Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours in my opinion. With covid I struggled finding cafes to study in. Barley time is a fairly new place that opened in the area. Free wifi available. It's a nice well lit environment with lots of sunlight. Music is a bit loud but I guess it's okay since I use headphones. They take card but has a min for $10 purchases. Drink selection could be more diverse but their cakes look cool. I've tried their tiramisu, nothing special but still a good tasting tiramisu. you can order them custom if you fancy their many options. Bread selection gets more limited after 5pm ish. Their loaf bread is tasty and moist. I tried the green tea loaf and went back again to get it a few times. You can really taste the green tea, not too sweet or bitter. read more

I had horrible experience from this cake shop, I ordered this cake last Thursday 2/24/2022 for my family's birthday and said I got it yesterday on 3/3/2022! This cake isn't cheap either! 6" Fruit Cake $38.99! The clerk took my order and gave me this cake! As soon as I see it, I don't want it because it's not fresh! I saw two identical cakes on the glass counter ! And the other one was very fresh and the leaves weren't rotten and the fruit wasn't very dry. I said 'I don't want this! I want the latter one! This place gave me a great impression the minute I walked in. Nice and clean but things went downhill when I went up to the counter to pick up the cake I ordered. They messed up my cake order and wanted to charge me $75 rather than the $68 they stated when I placed my order through text. I always liked light less sugar cream cakes but this one has no sugar taste at all and it was only one layer! I am the type that really don't mind paying more money for a GOOD cake but this was extremely disappointing and on top of all that happened with the cashier. No taste, plain old sponge cake. Definitely not worth $68 dollars! Part of the decorations are cute but some colors are off. Ordered a brown tree, got a black tree instead.
