Ruined my nails beyond repair. Looks nice inside but it's a rush work chop shop. I asked for a soak off of previous product and a light manicure so I could let my nails get some air exposure. I said *multiple* times the most important thing is keeping my nails healthy. They sped through my soak off service and filed off most of the product and a lot of my natural nail, leaving divots and painful spots on my nail bed. Left file dust all over my hands during my manicure, and rushed the layers of polish leaving it uneven and bubbly. Very disappointing. read more

I have been here a few times and will be making another appointment after I'm done with this review. I always get builder gel, and this is the most reasonably priced place I have been to in Tempe where I'm also consistently getting perfect nails. I hate making small talk, and I love that none of the techs force it or make me feel rude because I'm awkward. If a price is changing due to a service change I'm making, it's always explained to me. I have heard Nancy clearly explain pricing to other customers as well, and she is always very polite about it all(even when some people are rude to her for no real reason). I think Nancy is the owner and while she doesn't do my nails, it's pretty clear that the other techs like working for her, which is important to me because it makes the overall vibe of the salon very welcoming and relaxing. I can always count on my nails being done quickly without them being rushed, and quality is 10/10 every single time! I am bad at taking pictures though so I'm sorry I don't have examples! My current set is over 3 weeks old and only two nails are broken, but that is because I work in retail and use those two nails as tools, so BareCoat cannot be faulted at all. Today was my first time visiting this nail bar. I haven't been to a nail salon in years due to time, money, and sanitary issues with previous salons. However I am absolutely in love with this place. Super chill vibes. Music plays at a decent volume and they have tvs on with subtitles. They have a large choice of regular polish, gel, and dip powders. I came in right at open (10am on a Sunday) and was in a pedicure chair within seconds of choosing my color. The lady who did my pedicure took her time and did not cut corners. I really appreciate the TLC shown to my feet (. I work in a warehouse and walk 10-15 miles daily so I know they are little more rough than the average foot lol) although I plan on moving about 30 minutes from Tempe in the next few months, I will definitely be back! read more

Terrible experience. Nancy is extremely rude and verbally aggressive. I felt I was a number rushed in and out before other people got done with their pedicures even though mine got started after them. She got annoyed when I wanted a regular pedicure and proceeded to give me a long speech about how gel is way better than regular nail polish. I kindly let her know I am aware of the pros and cons as I've had gel many times in the past. Then she began to rush through my pedicure. Other clients around noticed her rude behavior. It was embarrassing. The pedicure literally 7 minutes long. The nail polish was such a light coat, I went home and did them myself. What a robbery. I imagine she will respond to this review with her same rude attitude. Each pedicurist in my party was individually tipped generously in cash for their kind work, aside from Nancy's $2 justified tip. It's so sad reading through so many other reviews on here of Nancy's poor attitude and light work. BareCoat Nail Bar responded affirmatively via email almost immediately by scheduling an appointment for me at 2:00 PM. Shortly after, Nancy called to confirm. When I arrived, Nancy and a male working there welcomed me. Nancy identified herself as the owner and said she would be ready to do my manicure and pedicure shortly. When I arrived there were 4 customers being served by Nancy and her co-worker; Nancy's 2 were almost done. In 10 minutes of my arrival, Nancy filled a lined pedicure basin and asked if the water temperature was OK. It was. While I soaked my feet, her 2 clients who were not together, individually complimented her, said they'd be back, paid, and left. Nancy asked and I answered I wanted nothing more than the basic manicure and pedicure I requested. She was pleasant, efficient, and accommodating. She made my fingernails and toenails look great. I have to say a good nail salon experience is hard to come by lately. Many are turning into turn and burn establishments and rush every step. I feel when I want to get my nails done, I want a relaxing atmosphere and spa like experience, but that isn't quite what you'll get here. I scheduled a pedicure for my bf and a manicure for myself. My bf's pedicure was the quickest pedicure I've ever seen! I understand there's no polish, but for 30 dollars it is quite astounding that his pedicure was 15-20 minutes. I get he doesn't require polish, but he's gotten pedicures with me before and this was the quickest by a long shot. I wish they took their time more. When it was my turn to get my manicure, I was seated immediately after a lady getting up. The station was not sanitized, and the buffing tool my nail guy used was literally falling apart that's how much it was used lol. Gross. I wish the guy had more attention to detail as I had to request he clean the leftover polish around my fingers, and even then he didn't quite clean up everything. But he did a fantastic job trimming away my dead skin and the lotion he used felt great. All in all I feel for the same price point there are nicer, cleaner salons with a more relaxing atmosphere. The first time I came here to try this new spot out I was so pleased! Donna did an amazing job. I asked for a pink that matched my skin color and she did just that. Not only that she suggested a holographic tint that was beautiful. I loved my nails so much! My second time here I got to meet the owner Nancy. She was very friendly and pleasant. I just contacted them to see if I could get an appointment for tomorrow and receive a response in less than 5 mins from the manager and my appointment is scheduled for a Mani/Pedi. This is what I call exceptional service, can't wait. Fast forward next day. My appointment was at 10:30a and I arrived a few minutes ahead and the salon was open and I was greeted by Nancy with a smile and a most friendly welcome. The salon is super clean, warm and comfortable. The decor is beautiful and calming. My technician was Joanne, who was just as friendly as Nancy. We had an appointment for 2 gel manicures, we came in and the man pointed to the back and just said "pick your color" I wasn't even sure which bottles were gel or what because he went in the back. We picked our colors and sat down and he made my friends nails soak in acetone for almost 20 minutes!!! While he used dirty unsanitized tools to shape my nails into round when I asked for almond. He was working super quickly, going back and forth between us, cut my friend twice, spilled nailpolish on the table and on my hands, was answering the phone through our manicure, and gave us probably the worst flower designs I've ever seen. I left after to get us starbucks and while I was gone he started asking my friend personal questions about her relationship- after being silent the whole time he did my nails. and then proceeded to tell her that it was his FIRST DAY EVER. It was just such a weird experience and we felt bad because he was trying so hard to do the flowers well and we asked him to change certain things and he said he would and he didn't. Then we were charged almost SEVENTY DOLLARS. So if anyone knows of a place that would fix our nails for cheap please let me know lmao. This was my first time going to BareCoat Nail Bar and it exceeded my expectations. I did not have any appointments, so I went in as a walk in and they took care of me right away. The lady that did my nails was so nice and kept asking me through out the nail session if I liked the way my nails were coming out . Let me tell you, out of all nail salons that I been too, most of the time i have been rushed with my nails completely destroyed . But not BareCoat Nail Bar, the one thing that really stood out to me is that the lady that was doing my black French tip, she did a second layer. Never in my life that I have seen other nail techs that are doing French tips on my nails do a second coat. They usually do a crappy one coat which will later on chip. My girlfriend came in to get a her nails done for her birthday. She left rather disappointed but is too timid to say anything. The shape, design, and the clean up were all done poorly. The design came from their Instagram (which looked great) so she assumed they would be able to execute nicely. The photos shown are after she had to pick the residue away. I saw a comment from the owner that said the customer should remind them to clean the nails? But that is not how good service works a customer shouldn't have to remind someone to do their job throughly. My only little complaint is they charged me $3 extra for each nail (1 was missing and 1 he took off) they had to fix which is a little silly to me. I truly wanted to like this place. I have been looking for a good nail place in the 85282 area for awhile and have tried so many. I am SO tired of going to nail salons, spending my hard earned money and tipping in their preferred method all to wind up feeling like an inconvenience, have them talk between each other every time you make a request for a change, or have your hand/foot tossed back at your or pushed around rudely. Let me begin with my first trip... During my first trip I asked the tech for an ombre effect. I explicitly discussed matching the color of my toes. There was a bit of a language barrier and when she asked me what color, I guess we got our wires crossed. The tech used white instead of blue. When I corrected her, she seemed irritated, chatted to her teammates in her language (which please understand that this is an incredibly rude practice. Nancy, please understand how rude this appears. Read the reviews. Your techs are being called defensive and rude it is incredibly disrespectful from both cultural angles.) In any case, she moves forward to only correct my nails, but correct ME saying that I should have told her. I did. Many times. I got the 2nd cheapest pedicure, added two acrylics for missing nails, and did powder dip for my nails with an "ombre" effect (which was awful tbh. She used a small sponge and it did not create an ombre but rather a soft blue color art the tip of my nail). I paid over $90 for this. I have been doing my nails for quite awhile. Did I mention that I was not told that this design had a $15-20 cost? Not one word of cost increase. I guess I should have known? I paid. I tipped well. I left. (Toes $33, so how much was the rest? ) My second trip.... where does this one start. The pedicure water is scolding hot. I was indecisive about colors and boy did they let me know how much of an inconvenience I was. The lady doing my toes huffed and puffed when I told her the purple I had chosen looked too pink and that I'd like a new color. She and and the male who had my left arm stretched across my body so he could start chipping away at nails consistently chattered back and forth after my requests. My toes came out fine. No complaints on the finished product. My nails... left me crying on my trip home. The male doing my nails (dude with the tattoo) nearly had my arm falling asleep as he had me hold it up and stretch across my body to work on. He also left me to soak for fingers for wayyyyy longer than necessary so he could sit in the pedicure chair and scroll his phone and gossip with coworkers (they were definitely having a fun and friendly staff day as they all gossiped the entire time). When I sat in his chair, he took off an incredible amount of skin surrounding every nail (See the photos). My nails are natural and he chipped quite a few and had to reshape. Luckily I was having them trimmed. If you are going to rip away all my cuticles, perhaps make sure the nail polish is on my entire nail. HA silly me. I mention to him the color of my nails," do you like it?" he asks... I say " well my nails look a lot lighter than my toes but.. I mean I just wanna be done"...He goes on to defend this by saying this is normal. If its normal, then why is the color cloudy and not solid. Ugh im exhausted by even writing this. Just look at the photos. The color is inconsistent. My cuticles are dry and gutted. My toes are normal, but my nails have already begun chipping. What did I pay... $82 dollars..... Again, the $33 pedi, powder dip and single color.... They must be lying about pricing here or overcharging, but at the very least they are not transparent, they do not care about customers, they are more concerned with one another and not worth the visit. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR NICE INSIDE. They are not worth this cost. Please make the changes needed here. You could be so great, but honestly you're so very far from it at this stage of the game. Your customers work hard for their money. Stop taking it without providing good customer service and making excuses for your extra costs. I have disputed the charge for this service and request a full refund. read more
