Felt like a burger last night, so coming back from the city my sister & I stopped to eat at Bareburger in Closter. Had never been there before. The restaurant is as informal & casual as its name. Once seated a lovely server named Brielle came up to our table, warmly greeted us & gave us our IPad menus. She diligently explained the menu to us & we asked her for a little time to decide. Not long after she left, I got a call & my sister & I spoke with the caller for the next ten minutes. A couple of minutes after we ended our phone call, Brielle came back up to our table, cheerfully & eagerly asking if we were ready to order. We explained we had been on the phone for the last 10 minutes & we still hadn't decided & asked for a few more minutes, apologizing to her. But Brielle was so sweet, saying, no problem at all, I'll give you more time. After we looked at the menu, (tons of choices on burgers & much more) we had a number of questions. When she returned to the table & asked if we were ready, we told her we had some questions. Well, Brielle was so kind & patient with us & sweetly answered every question. She took the time to show us different choices on the IPad menu. She even gave us her personal recommendations! She was simply wonderful!! We ordered the "build your own burger," and appetizers of grilled Brussels Sprouts as well as the Onion Rings & Fries. Brielle cheerfully took our order & even commented that the burger I built sounded delicious! She was such an earnest & genuine young lady. Really lovely!! The Brussel Sprouts with Parmesan Cheese were so delicious & tasty, the Rings & Fries were perfect. My burger was very good. My only complaint was it was a bit dry or maybe I should say not juicy enough. But still pretty good. When we were done, I ordered the Kid's Sundae. It was a perfect finisher to a enjoyable meal! We asked Brielle if we could order Milkshakes to go, but not to put the order in for them until I was done with my Sundae. She pleasantly responded, "yes, absolutely!" Observing neither of us had finished our meals Brielle asked if we wanted "to go" containers! (Of course we did, the food was too good to leave behind!). Brielle, quickly noticing when I finished my Sundae, dutifully returned to the table, and politely asked if she should put the Milkshake order in now. And soon afterwards returned cheerfully with our shakes. Brielle was a genuinely delightful server. Upbeat, energetic, very helpful, efficient, attentive, accommodating and had a smile on her face & in her voice every time she came to our table. She made the dinner such a pleasant experience. I want the managers to know she is a real asset to their business!! Also want to mention that the manager, Angela, was also very pleasant! She came over to us twice during our meal checking to make sure everything was going well. When we needed a non-food question answered, she sat down with us & patiently showed us what we needed to know. Obviously, Bareburger places high value on employing really personable & quality staff, and providing quality service! I would recommend this place to anyone. A great place to to catch a very good meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner). Family friendly too. And if you are lucky enough to get Brielle as your server, you will be in great hands!! I recently went to this Bareburger location during the day and I must say everything about this place was spot on. I sat at the bar area and was served by Isabella who was not only knowledgeable about the menu but was extremely personable and friendly. A true sweetheart! I was unsure about what I wanted to order, so she recommended the supreme burger with fries. I ordered the supreme burger per her recommendation and it is by far one of the tastiest burgers I have ever had! The meal was a homerun for me. I came in with my niece (6) and nephew (3) for lunch one day. They weren't too busy so we were seated about 5 minutes after arriving. They gave us placemats for the kids to color and an iPad. Not having been to this location before I assumed we could place our lunch orders on the iPad, however it's only meant to take dessert and drink orders. Once I realized this I signaled someone to ask for a menu and received one about 10 minutes after being seating. Aside from having to wait for a menu we had a great experience. Bareburger is incredible! I've always been fascinated with a menu full of brand new stuff I've never seen before. They are like no other burger place at all. On top of this, they are an all organic institution. The physical display was super organized and cool which made the overall experience more enjoyable. All the servers and staff seemed happy to do what they were doing, which is something you don't see in a restaurant very often. I ordered the Entree size farmers basket salad, it comes with balsamic roasted mushrooms and garlic on top which was delicious. I also added grilled chicken to my salad which was super juicy and I found it to be the best grilled chicken I've ever had. To drink I ordered an unsweetened strawberry hibiscus iced tea which was super refreshing. My friend created her own burger and tried the bison which our waitress explained was healthier and more lean alternative to beef. Overall we loved all the healthy options the restaurant offers and how they cater to people who are gluten free. For dessert we split the gluten free vegan carrot cake, which was delicious, and we ordered a scoop of the coconut ice cream that is made with hemp milk on the side! I highly recommend giving this place a try! :) I can see how the menu can easily add up and get pricey but I feel as if they do a good job of explaining the prices before you order. read more

Im a huge fan of this franchise and have eaten at a ton of their different city locations and was never disappointed with the service or the food but today really took me for a spin. The waitress, Isabelle S., was the worst waitress in the service industry Ive ever met. Now, Im a millenial and I almost never complain about service and am always trying to be on the side of the worker but I couldnt believe the way she was carrying herself as an employee. Everyone but her was very sweet and attentive and I genuinely have no idea how she got the job. We were sat by a lovely hostess and given menus and about 10 minutes later the waitress comes and just "what do u want to drink." She brings us our water and then as soon as we were about to say we were ready to order with our closed menus, she leaves and sits with her friends to have a conversation. She then comes up to us standing directly over us even though its covid times and takes our order and menus. We get our food extremely quick ( I wish we could tip chefs) and not once did she check up on us for more water (we were out) or how everything was. Ok whatever. Our fries and burger were great and I really enjoyed the food. We stacked our plates up for her and she completely ignored our table and another waitress took our food and had to remind miss Isabelle that we needed to pay for our food. She comes up behind me and tosses the receipt over my shoulder?!? Who does that? So if youre ever being served by her I wish you luck and hope she treats you better than us!! read more

Unbelievable rudeness by a guy behind the bar which I hope is not a manger .. as we arrived he was behind the bar with his phone in his hands giving shoulders to guests , as he approached us he was chewing or sucking on a toothpick , we asked for three beer he still had his toothpick which he was also touching and without even washing his hands he severed us beers touching orange decoration with his barehands after touching the disgusting toothpick in his hands. When he was asked to wash his hands before serving us and to get rid of the toothpick he was sucking on this "gentlemen" gave us attitude and advices his coworker to take our order because he won't serve us . Thankfully we left before any other food was ordered . This is a wow factor for an establishment which should be organic and not filthy. Okay so I don't do reviews often but this restaurant rightfully deserves a big shoutout. My family and I went to Bareburger in Closter the other night (mind you, I have 3 children all under the age of ten) and had a fantastic time. While waiting for our table the general manager came and offered to get us a drink or if we wanted something for the kids which is beyond what most general managers would do especially when the restaurant was busy. Once seated, we noticed that the restaurant itself was EXTREMELY clean (huge bonus!!!), the staff was very polite and well kept. The food was perfect it was delicious, brought out on time, it was fresh and we didn't have to send anything back. Between them being so accommodating to the children, clean, prompt, and professional I have nothing but good things to say. 10/10 experience, would recommend as a go-to spot for sure! read more

writing another review because this place continues to amaze me. the more menu items i try, the more i want to come back. i recently tried the bison and the fried chicken and absolutely fell in love with both! the same goes for the sweet potato fries. the service has improved a lot from when it first opened and you can tell how much effort was put into that. you can also now get a cookies and cream shake which is absolutely amazing, i would definitely recommend it. they also added a sundae called "the doogie" and it is to die for. read more

I was so excited to try Bareburger. Soooo many Veggie burgers to choose from. Veggie burgers for kids. This place seemed too good to be true. And in the end it was. Soooo many veggie burgers, but none of them really very tasty. At the end so many choices, but still not one good choice. I don't think I'll be going back for a burger. That said, I could just go there and eat the brussel sprouts all day every day. They ALMOST make up for the veggie burger disappointment. And we had an amazing waitress. So amazing I am sad I forgot her name. The restaurant was loud, crowded and super busy. After eating at the location once and taking out another time the only thing "bare" afterwards were my ass cheeks glued to a toilet seat for the next 48 hours. Imagine that. Nightmare. I'm so glad that a place like this finally opened up in the area! I went with a few friends a couple nights ago and it won't be last our time there. My friends have a few food restrictions and I had heard that this place offered so many substitutes for certain ingredients. To start off we ordered a pitcher of sangria and some French fries and onion rings to split. My goodness these were so addicting!! I asked for the fries to be crispy and they came out perfect! Nice and golden! And for the onion rings... i don't particularly like anything that has to do with onions, but these were phenomenal. Definitely recommend! Now for my meal, I got the Great Plains burger, but I swapped out the Bison for the sweet potato patty and it was so delicious. I've had veggie patties before but nothing comes close to this one! My friends got different burgers, but 2 of them swapped their buns for the gluten free bun and my other friend swapped the bun for a collard green wrap. They loved it! They've have had GF options before but these actually tasted delicious as opposed to the cardboard flavored ones they've had at other places! After all of that we all had just a tiny bit of room left for dessert! We ended up ordering the Cray Crazlenut. This is officially my new favorite dessert! I was actually very close to getting the s'mores dessert, but I'm glad we all decided to split the Crazlenut. The mixture of the caramel and the hazelnut spread and the candied pecans... OH MY GOODNESS IT WAS SO DELICIOUS. Highly recommend! (Especially because their vanilla ice cream is good even just by itself!) Overall our meal was incredible, the atmosphere was very welcoming and fun, and the service was excellent. I would actually like to write separately about the service. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed right away and sat down within just a couple of minutes. Our server walked over to greet us and take drink orders and came back within a few minutes. He was extremely friendly and definitely very knowledgeable about the menu. I felt like we were difficult because we wanted to substitute so much but he explained everything to us and walked us through ordering. He was very patient and he got everything we wanted put in perfectly. The staff is young but I definitely think they do a really good job of keeping up with their tables and helping out the customers. That was my experience and I definitely enjoyed every bit of it! This is probably my new favorite place to go to. It's so hard finding a healthy place especially when you're craving a good burger. I had the kale Caesar which was awesome. The dressing wasn't too much or too little. I also had the mini burgers that literally melted in my mouth! Gabby helped us and her extensive knowledge of the menu and popular items blew us out of the water. You don't come across many staff members that are eager to tell you about their food and drinks, so we were very impressed. Heard so much about Bareburger. My wife and I decided to try it today in Closter. Very disappointed. Really nothing special except the HIGH PRICES. We both had the American Burger-- your standard cheeseburger deluxe with bacon. We also ordered a share sized combo of sweet potato fries and onion rings. We each had a diet cola. With tip it was $55. The beef burger patty was smallish and mostly tasteless. The small piece of bacon on top was so over cooked I thought it was jerky. The fries and onion rings were just ok. I've had much better burgers at a diner or at Sonic and Mooyah Burger. We won't be going back. Even at half the price it wouldn't be worth it. read more

This was my second time at a Bareburger but my first time at this location. I liked my visit at the Edgewater location a few years back, so when my family happened to see this location while on an errand run, we decided to stop by. This was my parents' first time at a Bareburger. The visit started out well. They seated us quite quickly. Our server was friendly and explained the customization of the food well to my first-time visiting parents. We ordered three burgers: Blue Elk, American, and Buckaroo. For drinks, we had their ginger ale, a coffee, Chocolate Hazelnut shake, and a red wine. The place was wonderfully decorated. It had a kind of rustic, quirky flair to it, which reflected everywhere you looked, including the bathroom (though I would've traded the decorations for a better cleaning. It wasn't the worst bathroom but for such a nice place I would've liked for the trash can to not be overflowing onto the floor). The bathroom had a mirror with a cute painted frame and some quirky art on the walls. Now down to the complaints: It took a little while to get our food, which we didn't mind because it was packed when we ordered. I'll start with what we enjoyed about the visit. The food was great. We all enjoyed what we ordered and left full. Most of what made me drop this review to 3 stars was the service. Sure, it started off okay. However, the first thing to start chipping away at the stars was that or server emphasized how customizable their food was, but while both my mother and I tried customizing our burgers (not even very complicated requests either), only she had what she asked for. It was hard to flag down a server so I ended up taking my burger as is. My mom's coffee, though it was a good coffee, did not come with a spoon to stir with, which was kind of annoying especially since, as I mentioned, it was hard to flag someone down. My mother asked for sugar for her coffee, which was also forgotten. We never got a refill on our water either. We didn't get napkins with our burgers, and when we asked for them from the server (a different one from our first) who gave us our food, it felt like he wasn't even listening to us. He walked away from us before we finished our request, and we had to shout after him for our second request of a teaspoon for the coffee. He only shouted over his shoulder a quick "yeah" before hurrying away. I probably would've considered 4 stars if not for this particular server. Getting the check was much easier than giving it back. It took so long for our server to return to take the check back. It was a disappointing experience. Although it wasn't anything big, the small annoyances piled up for us. I was disappointed because I had a much more pleasant experience at another location, and my parents were disappointed because they had higher hopes after enjoying the food so much. All in all, I lean towards not returning, but who knows? Maybe I'll try it again and hope for better service. read more
