I stopped here for lunch while shopping at GSP. The space itself is nice--spacious and much quieter than the food hall near the movie theater. When I arrived, it was about half full, and many customers were already eating. A server took my order quickly, but it took over 20 minutes for my entrée to arrive, even though my order was very simple. During that time, no one checked in or explained the delay. Another server stopped by and mentioned she was helping my server, but she didn't know what I had ordered--or even whether I had ordered at all. I had to repeat my order and explain that I had been waiting a long time for a sandwich. I ordered the French dip sandwich with truffle fries. When the food finally arrived, the sandwich was lukewarm, the cheese had already congealed, and the bottom bread was starting to get soggy. The service felt very slow overall, and there were multiple empty tables with dirty dishes left on them. On top of that, the food was overpriced for a mall restaurant, especially given the quality and service. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can't say I'd come back next time. read more

Bazille is my favorite place for lunch while visiting Garden State Plaza. It's nice and spacious. The restaurant is located in the lower level of Nordstrom between the children and teen/BP section. There's a great variety on the lunch menu. My favorite option includes the salads. They give you a decent sized portion and you can add your choice of protein - chicken, shrimp. I used to come here all the time even back in the 90s and today it was god awful. Service was fine but food was inedible. And the prices?! Go to Lunch Spot. I always order takeout from Bazille since I work in the mall and I am never disappointed. This time we had a bistro club and a shrimp salad. Met a friend here for lunch. Plenty of open seating although I did make a reservation. The staff is very friendly, our food order was taken quickly, and delivered in plenty of time. Well my friend ordered the fish and chips and I got the French dip sandwich which was delicious just the right size I don't like to take home leftovers. It came with some dipping gravy and several dips to use with my seasoned french fries everything was cooked properly and very tasty. I would definitely come back again,. Great restaurant and food. I find it hard to get a host to be actively available to seat guests. Usually there's a line and the host is multitasking. Most dishes come with bread, the bright side is that the bread tastes super fresh, the rest is wholesome and healthy ingredients which is always a plus. Drinks are superb, mixed to perfection. Selecting a Nordstrom restaurant to have a nice brunch may seem like an odd choice, but after my experience at Bazille proved that it is well worth it. Located inside the Nordstrom store in Garden State Plaza, this restaurant manages to carve out a niche that acts as a respite from the busy (and sometimes chaotic shopping) outside. The restaurant is modern and elegant looking. The colors are warm and vibrant at the same time, with a combination of wood tones and orange colors coming together beautifully. Everyone from the hosts to waitstaff felt like they could have come from a brunch spot in Midtown Manhattan but there was no snark or sarcasm here. It was all friendly and very attentive service! But let's get to the food shall we? SMOKED BACON & EGG PIZZA (farm eggs, maple glazed bacon, asiago cream, watercress, black pepper) Generally eating pizza in a department store offends all sorts of sensibilities in my brain, but man, this dish was fantastic! The crust was nice and crisp on the outside with a soft interior. It was not a thin crust, but not thick either, it was right in the middle. The eggs, bacon and other ingredients on top were delicious when put together into one bite. It was wonderfully savory. I did need more pepper on it and was happy to see we had fresh black pepper grinders to use! HANDMADE GNOCCHI WITH LAMB RAGU (lentils, greek yogurt, curry, herb salad, naan bread) The term "ragu" is technically accurate but this is more of a Middle Eastern style dish than an Italian one so set your expectations accordingly. That said, this was a nice dish, but I think I had hoped for something ab it more meaty. If you are into an herbal, curry based flavor then this is the dish for you. LOBSTER MACARONI & CHEESE (fontina, mascarpone, corn, fresno chilis, dill breadcrumbs, green salad) I have had many lobster mac and cheese dishes in my time, and I have to say that this one had the most intense lobster flavor of any of them. This is both good and bad. It is good in the sense that there was plenty of lobster and I suspect some lobster broth may have gone into the béchamel. However, the lobster flavor was SO strong that it overwhelmed the cheese flavor, which I'm not used to. Your mileage may vary on this. Overall I really enjoyed my experience and Bazille and I would happily return for brunch. read more

This restaurant is located in the Nordstrom department store. This was honestly not even an option until our movie was too close to showtime and we were starving! First off, who serves calamari without tartar sauce ( drops one point). So, now we're at 4 points. I was told by the waitress that the crab and lobster mac and cheese was amazing. So, what do I do at a place i've never been to? I go with what the waitress says to order. Can you guess what happened next? I was not impressed by the suggestion. Super impressed by this spot on the ground floor of Nordstrom in the Garden State Plaza. Had the lobster bisque and shrimp nicoise. Lobster bisque was the first I've had with chunks of cucumber, tomato and red onion in it but it was one of the best it had. The shrimp were perfectly grilled and the salad was light and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised with this little gem inside of Nordstroms! My future mother-in-law make lunch reservations for her, my mom, and I after we had tried on wedding dresses upstairs. We started with mimosas, which were delicious, and then tried a bunch of different things for lunch. Everything was fresh and tasty and the service was on point too. I definitely recommend this place if you're hungry while shopping. Totally a much better call than the food court! read more

This is my third time eating at the restaurant and the food is always consistently delicious and a five star rating. If I could give a review for service it would be less then one star! I have asked on three different occasions for the general manager due to rude inattentive wait staff and I am always told that she is "unavailable and not in the building". I can not understand how a restaurant can run without the presence of the general manager. There has also been a few occasions where I have come to the restaurant and it was closed for to go only. When I had questioned why I was not given a direct response other then they were following the directions of their GM. While I miss the Nordstrom cafe that used to exist here, the replacement restaurant is just as good as its predecessor. The food here is always reliable, tastes excellent, and of great quality. A small complaint about the food woupd be that some of the dishes, like the salmon risotto and steak frites, are a bit salty. My only qualm about this restaurant would be the service. It takes a long time to flag down your waiter, and when he or she does get to you, they'll often forget to get whatever you requested. There seems to be a good amount of dilly dallying by the entrance of the kitchen next to the bar where the waiters chat on their way in and out. I do understand though that its a big space with lots of customers during peak hours, but speed is always appreciated. Food alone is a 4, but combined with the service is a 3. read more

This was my first visit to Bazille and on one my few visits to Nordstrom. It was a Saturday at noon. It looks like it could be a cafe until you spot the hostess station. I ordered the Chicken & Angel Hair Pasta. I watched some college football on the one television that I could see in the bar area from my table while listening to Christmas music. The chicken was tender and the sauce was fantastic. The pasta was a bit clumpy and the dessert menu became more attractive since I was still hungry and wished there was more. Yesterday, my mom and I attended my baby sister's first bridal fitting. Needless to say we were anxious and excited. Afterwards we were completely overwhelmed, she looked beautiful and we just couldn't seem to come down off the high. We decided we would have lunch and keep the momentum up. Being that we were already in Nordstrom, we chose this restaurant. I'm so delighted we did. There was no wait, the tables were clean, we were attended to immediately. Alex was such a dream!! Extremely mannerable, very helpful, funny, cute, accommodating. He was a pleasure!! He gave recommendations. He allowed us to try the vinaigrette before making a decision. He listened. For example, when I was ordering my drink I mentioned I don't really like " too sweet" so later when I was deciding on dessert, he suggested one item over the other because it was very sweet. I love knowing that I'm being heard. Domingo was also absolutely amazing. They worked very well together and seemed to truly enjoy their job. Listen, I knew I wanted the gnocchi and lamb ragu; they were so good, I wasn't even mad when they had to break the news that they ran out of gnocchi. And I was impressed when they offered alternatives. I chose the potatoes. The food was absolutely delicious. My drink was perfect. I ordered the GM75 (I believe that's what it was called, Grand Marnier and Prosecco). Not too sweet and had a little punch. The bread pudding and coffee complemented each other perfectly. My mom and sis really enjoyed their meal/drink/dessert too. Especially the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream!! I thought my sister was going to take her ring off and propose to it. Lol. Finally ready for a review! Dean is the best waiter - he's been here since it was Nordstrom Cafe. He's adorable and sweet and always welcoming. Bazille has found its stride after a few tries I'm happy to report. The cocktails are CONSISTENTLY excellent and well made. We have sampled an array of different drinks and they're all excellent with lovely flavors. The flatbread is wonderful. The sliced steak sandwich is out of this world. Addicted to the kalamata aioli. The shrimp salad is similar to the one they served in the old cafe days but this one has a bit of an updated dressing with a smokey kick. Fresh, tasty and super flavorful salad. My picky son claims these to be the best chicken fingers in town (high praise, believe me). Everything we have sampled has been great. I hear the demand for the old tomato soup has been so high they bring it back as a soup of the day once a week. Well now why did they get rid of it in the first place? We shall be back. I had an awful experience at a Nordstrom restaurant a few years back (uncooked chicken in a chicken dish is kind of a big deal) so I vowed to never go back to a Nordstrom restaurant ever again. Recently during holiday shopping with a friend she insisted we go there for our shopping intermission. I told her my horror experience, but she wasn't taking no for an answer. I only gave in because I did not feel like walking across the mall to go Grand Lux. Well, I'm glad my laziness paid off, because I cannot remember the last time I have had such a pleasant experience at a department store restaurant. I actually forgot I was in a department store. The food delightful, and IT WAS COOKED! Glad to see that concept is well understood at this location. But what set this location apart was the service I had received. During the holiday season employees are notoriously known for being tired and overworked, and that is usually taken out on the customers. Not in this restaurant. Not only was our server delightful (I believe his name was Erik) but he went above and beyond in answering all my annoying requests (is there a lot of salt, how is this prepared, can I do the dressing on the side.. etc). But the manager came over not only to make sure our food was prepared perfectly, but asked if there were any questions I had with the menu that she could help me with. In addition if there were any dietary restrictions that I had, and offered to make any substitutions if needed. I'm not sure if Erik had expressed that I was asking a lot of questions about the menu, or she took it upon herself to come over as she saw there was a lot of conversation going on. I find that type of service exemplary, which you usually don't get such attention and respect from a department store restaurant. She totally changed my perspective on your restaurants. So much so, I remembered to leave this review after I just got my third to go lunch from this location. Pro tip: Ask for a lunch sized salad so you can get a cup of their lobster bisque. The salad cancels out all calories of the bisque. read more

Riddle me this- this is probably our 8th time at this restaurant (and ordering the same thing)...so why this time anytime different? For clarification: my mother and I have been coming here since the restaurant first opened and herbed mushroom risotto was an option on their sides. After a while it was no longer on the sides menu however it was still on their menu as an accompany to an entree: salmon with herbed mushroom risotto. So the restaurant is still serving the mushroom risotto as a side dish just for specific meals of their choosing. My mother and I continued to come in and ask for our normal dish and a side of risotto since it was still on the menu... This was okay. However today when we asked about the risotto, we were told that we could probably switch the protein (salmon) out for another protein. We explained we would just like to pay for a side dish of risotto in addition to our meal. The waitress said she would check with chef and come right back. The waitress came back a few minutes later and informed us that we cannot have a side order of risotto in addition to our meal and asked if she could get us something else. Hmm so let me get this straight... The risotto IS available I just can't have it. Unless I want to order the salmon and say switch out salmon for (whatever protein I want) ...uhhhh RIGHT. You have got to be kidding me! Do not think we will be coming here any longer- obviously. read more

Love this place. Had Chris as a server last weekend and he was just so lovely and accommodating. Loved him so much I had to call over the Manager to compliment him. Her name is Rebecca and she's an absolute doll. Will definitely be coming back for the staff, but of course we can't ignore the food. Everything that came out of that kitchen was DELICIOUS. I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures. Be sure to try the Kung Pao Brusselsprouts, Bazille burger, and the chef special! Apparently it changes every two or three weeks, so by the time you read this it will be different. But the ahi tuna appetizer special? Art on a plate. And it tasted as beautiful as it looked. Didn't expect to find a restaurant this good in the middle of a store... Started off with probably the best French onion soup I've had, then an amazing prime rib French dip sandwich. Meat was delicious as was the crusty bread. Their fries are delicious, similar to Houston's. My friends got steak, crab Mac and cheese, and a special pasta. All were excellent.
