My husband loved the smash burger and put it in the top burgers he's had. So, great taste, freshness and value! Slow service but clearly it was cooked to order and worth the wait. We had some inKind promotions so we decided to order a burger feast since my family was coming over. We ordered the 'Four the Family' (4 burgers and/or sandwiches, 4 sides, 2 shares) and the 'Smashburger (4) & Fries' (4 smashburgers and fries). For the 'Four the Family', there are select burger/sandwiches you can choose from but it's a pretty big selection. We ended up with the Americana, Spicy Paul Bunyan, Truffle Elk, and Classic Chix. None were really memorable and were kind of dry. For the sides, we had the honey brussels (burnt) and Korean fried chicken wings, which weren't bad. The cole slaw was probably some of the worst I've eaten - there was no flavor, it was like they just mixed some cabbage with mayonaisse. The smashburgers were much better. Can't really go wrong with a smash burger. However, we should it would come with four sets of fries but it was only one. We also ordered a side of onion rings, and those were really good. I would say for what we paid, it was totally worth it. Are they good burgers? Eh, not necessarily. Bareburger in Ridgewood was a bit of a mixed experience for me. As someone with celiac, I genuinely appreciate the extensive gluten-free options. Being able to order a gluten-free bun, fries, chicken tenders, and more isn't something every restaurant offers. I created my own burger with a bison patty, cheddar cheese, and a gluten-free bun, and I love the ability to fully customize the meal. The burger itself was solid, and that flexibility is honestly the main reason I would return. The restaurant was clean (including the bathrooms) and had plenty of seating. It wasn't crowded when we arrived, though it filled up shortly after. That said, the pricing feels high for what you receive, especially given that many menu items are on the heavier, higher-calorie side. It makes this more of an occasional visit for me rather than a regular go-to. We shared regular and sweet potato fries, and the sweet potato fries were unfortunately overcooked. Service was the biggest drawback during our visit. We were given small water glasses that emptied quickly and had trouble getting refills. I ordered honey mustard with my burger and never received it, and no one stopped by to check on us, so I ended up eating it without the sauce. When we were ready for the check, I had to get up and find our server. It may have been an off night, but it was noticeable. They also had the Olympics on TV, but the screen kept freezing, making it difficult to follow along. Mmmmmmk, I absolutely LOVE me some Bareburger. The menu has countless vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options that make dining a breeze for dietary restrictions. They offer Impossible burgers, which can easily be substituted on their specialty burger items or your own custom selection. They offer many sides that are gluten-free, something I appreciate, especially when it comes to fries. One of my favorite options is their fried pickles, yum! Dining out ain't cheap, but I think the portion sizes are excellent for the value. One thing I've learned to appreciate from restaurants is consistency in quality, Bareburger definitely meets those expectations. I also love that they offer gluten-free beer on tap, shout out to my Departed Soles drinkers! Every time I visit this location, it's clean and the service is great. Very good burgers, fries (and, dare I say, even salad), but a bit on the pricier side for the cost-conscious. Our family swung by on a cold, winter late Sunday morning at around 11:45am ahead of the lunch rush and, since we were so early, we had our pick of tables insides. The restaurant isn't huge, but has plenty of tables and seats still, including a full size bar. In the spring, summer, fall, on those nice, warm days, they can open their garage-style doors to let the breeze flow in .... but not on this freezing day. We were greeted by Zach, as he was our server throughout, and we were immediately presented with their menus, which happened to be on a tablet. We had done our research waayyyyyy ahead of time and one thing that we noticed as we were researching what to eat was how pricey all of the burgers were - granted they do serve grass-fed beef, elk, bison and wagyu - which are rare to come to by, but, nevertheless every burger was anywhere from $9-$24. And, this was JUST the burger without any sides/fries/onion rings. Luckily, we noticed that they had a 4 Wagyu Smashes with Fries deal for $30 listed on their website menu and, for our family of 4, it was pretty much the most economical thing we could order. For our kids, it really didn't matter if they were eating beef, elk or bison, in fact, it probably was more preferable to eat beef, due to the flavor of the meat, so we went with that. Oddly, neither the 4 Wagyu Smashes with Fries deal nor the other Wagyu Smash deal for 2 burgers was not listed on the tablet we were given when we sat down, but we asked if the 4 Wagyu Smash deal was available and they said it was. Can't imagine how many people actually just order 4 Wagyu Smashes and Fries for the full price, which would probably run about $49!!! So, we saved almost $20 just because we knew there was such a burger deal on the menu. However, it did seem like we didn't have a whole lot of fries despite it supposedly being 4 orders. Anyhowwwww, we asked for just 2 of the burgers to be cooked well done, but they ended up making all 4 well done. A bit of a boo boo there. Luckily, the burgers were still VERY, VERY good, despite being overcooked. Can't imagine how much more juicier they would have been if just cooked at medium. The fries were also solid as well. Besides the burgers, my better half also ordered the Jersey Shrimp Salad - small. Once again, the small size wasn't listed on the tablet menu, but we were aware of it because of our research of their online menu. Salad was shockingly really tasty and there were 6 shrimps in the salad. We loved that we had plenty of space with our kids at the time we went. In fact, from the start to the end of our meal, the entire restaurant was just patronized by families with young children. If it did get crowded, which I can imagine it does on Fridays, Saturdays and during the nicer weather months, it could feel a bit tighter. The burgers were very good and so were the fries, but it would absolutely make sense if the restaurant listed the 2 or 4 Wagyu Smashes and Fries deals on the tablet menu instead of just on their website menu. In this day and age, with inflation impacting everyone, it's a bit challenging for every family, even us, to eat at Bareburger considering there are so many more cost-effective options for burgers, but if you don't mind the costs, Bareburger's got your burger craving covered! read more

A great family spot for lunch on the less busy side of the street. Like the open, airy interior along with the spacious seating. It was super quick to get seating for lunch at 2pm on a Saturday (basically empty aside from a few tables). The servers were attentive and very accommodating (we had two 3 year olds in our company of 4 adults). Paper, crayons, and lidded water cups immediately disbursed. Menus are iPads. Our food arrived at our table under 7-10 minutes, perfect for very hungry adults. Enjoyed the cheesesteak sandwich and American smash burger with an order of shareable French fries served and a side of ranch. I'm a big fan of smash burgers and glad to try their version of it. It was the perfect portion for me but for others may be a tad on the small side. Cheesesteak was a big portion and perfect amount for my hubby. We stopped coming here as often due to the high prices but these specials have been so reasonable lately. Such a disappointment. This was once a food-forward artisanal burger restaurant. Now it's a corporate factory churning out bland, pedestrian food with silly toppings and no taste. You have to order from stupid iPads that blare ads and specials at you. Picture eating in an airport or a theme park. There's no way anyone is making fresh, inventive food in a place that has portable video screens as their menus. The burgers are half the size they used to be at about double the cost. As an added bonus, you have to scan a QR code to pay the bill, and for that service, you have to pay an extra $1.50. Why? Nickel and diming customers is so distasteful. The two stars are for keeping the gluten-free options (although they charge through the nose for them). read more

We've been there twice. If you want a burger, it's really complicated for ordering a burger. You can't just get a regular (american) cheese burger on a regular bun. It has to be all fancy. So this last time, I just ordered popcorn chicken. It was REALLY good. But it's supposed to be a burger place- why can't it just be easy? Why is there no American cheese? Or even mozzarella cheese? This is north Jersey. I'm pretty sure those are the most popular cheeses here. "Vegan" American cheese is not real cheese and I don't want "sharp" anything, including my cheddar. I don't know if they were short staffed but it took a really long time to get seated, and there was hardly anyone there at the time. It was the Friday night of Labor Day weekend. Came here for the 1st time on 11/26 because I was nearby. The food was cooked to perfection. It was packed with care & I LOVE neat food. The taste was a balanced blend of their signature flavor infusions - meaning it wasn't over or under seasoned. The avocado wasn't even sliced but rather thrown in the middle as a whole chunk - I ended up just slicing it up myself. When we were seated, the host brought over menus which were tablets with a bareburger tablet cover which was so unexpected but so cool! Whenever I try a new place, I always go for the most basic to try out what their regular burger tastes like. Ordered medium rare and that bad boy was juicy just the way I like it. Lots of burger varieties here - something for everyone. I was craving a crispy chicken sandwich but didn't want to drive so I ordered seamless. Chose the santa fe chicken. The piece of chicken was so large it was hanging out of the sandwich on both sides. It was still crispy on arrival and hit the chicken craving. Also ordered a side of dill pickles which balance the sandwich nicely. I was expecting a little more flavor for something called santa fe, seemed like a regular crispy chicken sandwich - no kick. Not sure what santa fe vinaigrette is. Not quite as good as shake shacks sandwich but good for the convenience. I also ordered the brussel sprout side with parmesan and lemon. If you want to eat "clean" (grass fed organic beef, elk, bison) but don't want carbs -- you can curate your own Keto burger. The use of steamed kale wrap instead of bread as a vessel for your burger is a brilliant idea -- softened just enough to maintain a residual crunch that makes each bite interesting and flavorful. Kinda like stuffed cabbage. My side salad was simple, fresh and perfect with this. The bar is well stocked with almost a dozen beers on tap, including some local unfiltered IPA's from SingleCut brewery in Astoria Queens. The beer was perfect with my kale wrapped burger -- next time I will try the elk -- which shows up off the menu from time to time. Bareburger is pricey for sure -- like the other establishments in this town. Expect to drop $25 for a 20oz beer and a specialty burger, plus tip. But the ambiance on a slow Wednesday evening with a chatty barkeep makes it a worthwhile stop for me when I crave clean, low carb meat eating in town. Top Tip: Making a burger your way is the attraction here -- suitable to any dietary needs -- including vegan. It was so tremendous to have a burger bar that offered so many food allergy alternatives. We had amazing gluten free buns that tasted fresh made on plant based burgers. The brussels sprouts side were the perfect balance of tangy and crispy. The fries were well portioned and crispy as well. And best of all they did not skimp on drinks. My husband and I sat at the bar for dinner around 5:30 on a Friday night. There were 3 other people sitting at the bar top. The bartender was friendly and got our drinks started pretty quickly, but then it took a while to order food and get our check. The staff is very young and super friendly towards each other. Instead of checking in on you, they are seen leaning against the back bar, arms folded, chatting loudly about different things amongst one another. The food is good. They have a really good Keto friendly bun and their Brussels sprouts never disappoint. My second indoor dining experience since covid, because it was non stop raining. I felt very safe as the staff wore masks. Their menus were on iPads, which I wasn't thrilled about - touchless would be ideal, but I trust that they do some kind of wipe down. Found the menu easy to navigate, particularly with being able to toggle specifically to the vegan options, and clear indications of what is GF. They also had GF buns. The half half fries are a great options - they probably have the better version of the sweet potato fries that I've typically had. The Bloody Mary was delicious, just wish it was in a bigger cup. My child got the chicken nugget kids meal, and I was admittedly disappointed in the nugget quality. The chicken was stringy and it was over fried; she ended up spitting out most of what she attempted to eat.
