This was the second (and last) time I went to Bardenay's. The first time, I had the meatloaf sandwich. It was soggy, cold and tasteless. This time, I decided to give them another try and I took a date there. We both ordered the fish and chips and this is where the problem started. My date received three large pieces of fish, while I received three very small pieces of fish that were less than half of the size of hers. The discrepancy in the appearance of our two meals was glaring. I was not being petty when I brought the problem to our server's attention. He immediately copped an attitude with me. It was clear that he didn't care about my concerns about the meal. He magnanimously told me he'd make up for the very small fish portions by bringing me another piece of fish. Now, please look at the photo of what this guy brought me and he did it with a straight face. It was a burned fish nugget that was on a bed of wilted lettuce. As far as I am concerned, it was an insult. I refused to eat it and we left. A server's job is to do everything possible, within reason, to make sure the patron leaves satisfied with the food and service. My valid concern about my meal was disregarded and dismissed. We ate a late lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. It was very busy but we were still seated right away, service at first was a little slow but with how busy it was we understood. Service got better by the end as their lunch rush started to calm down. With them being busy in the beginning it was very loud in the restaurant on arrival that we chose to sit outside since it was sunny, but it slowly got cold and overcast and they gladly moved us inside. The drinks were very good, i ordered the pineapple rum one and it was good I ordered a second! We got the cheese plater and really enjoyed their selection of cheeses and fruits. My husband ordered the fish and chips and loved them. I ordered the fish tacos and was really happy with them, I do wish they had an option for grilled fish or shrimp instead of fried, but still very good. I got a side salad with mine which was decent and had delicious croutons but would probably pass in next time. No dessert tried this time but they had plenty of options that we plan to try in the future. We will definitely be back in the near future! read more

Bardenay Restaurant is an open concept restaurant with a fabulous patio next to the river. I visited twice in short succession. I tried the Charbroiled Beef Tenderloin Salad with the Prickly Pear Margarita. The salad was absolutely delicious and the prickly pear margarita was underwhelming. The service could use some improvement as our server disappeared after the entrees were delivered. The restaurant wasn't that busy so that was a little disappointing. On my second visit I tried the Silver Coin Margarita which was a winner! I tried the special of the day which was a salmon sandwich. I was starving so I ate the first half and it was extremely salty - I didn't eat the other half and tossed it when I got home. I did tell the server who said he'd let the kitchen know. The salmon sandwich would have been a winner if not for the excessive salt. This server was much more attentive. I have high hopes for my next visit. The Charbroiled Beef Tenderloin Salad and Silver Coin Margarita are worth another visit!!! read more

We went to Bardenay after hearing folks rave about how good it was. Here's our experience. Atmosphere: It was very loud and hard to hear the conversation at our table because of the acoustics in the room. Drinks: I ordered an "Old Fashion" and received a version that tasted like they used Robitussin cough syrup as a mixer. Worst one I've ever gotten anywhere. Others in our party ordered different drinks and commented about how they were not very good. Food: I ordered a steak (which was pricey). Basically low grade meat. Very tough with lots of gristle. The others in our party said the entrees they ordered were fine but not great. Conclusion: I really wanted to love the place, but we all left feeling unsatisfied for the price we paid for drinks and dinner. Took a friend here for her birthday. Ambiance was good we sat outside. I ordered a salad and grilled chicken sandwich both were delicious. My friend ordered the turkey sandwich and clam chowder she said the soup was good but she said the turkey was bland I tried it and it tasted like fish it was so gross. We were heading to our hotel for the night and saw this place, so we decided to walk over and have a nite cap. Their menu was very nice and had a lot of options. We only wanted drinks but did order chips and salsa. The service was excellent, and the drinks were also top notch. Next time I am in town, I will definitely come back! Food can be hit or miss...although has been better lately. Noise level can be very loud. Wait staff is usually pretty good.

The setting is fantastic, atmosphere is enlightening (but too noisy), and the drinks are good. That's the good news. To leave feeling as good as when you arrived, do a couple things: First. sit outside, weather permitting, so you can hear your friends speaking. Apparently, no one at Bardenay felt the need to call an interior designer with a knowledge of sound engineering. Second, don't order a burger or fries unless you like your meat overcooked and your fries limp. I've tried 3 times (I'm a slow learner) and finally discovered the cooks don't care, the table server is always going to say, "absolutely" to my requests, and the person delivering the food to the table is NOT the one that guaranteed the crispy fries and medium-rare burger. Just order a salad, the tacos, the meatloaf... it's a nice menu, just don't be fooled into ordering those soggy fries or overcooked leather burgers. read more

Food was great (get the salmon!), atmosphere on the patio was lovely, and a smiling, attentive waitress was the cherry on top! I have to give a shout-out to the manager and our server yesterday - 4/16. We were celebrating our nephew's engagement and I asked if they could possibly write "Congratulations" on the plate of our dessert. Our server went above & beyond to make it happen but we found out the manager was the one who ended up getting it done. I've been here twice for lunch now and both times I've been very happy. They have a a large cocktail menu which I appreciate. My most recent cocktail was very good. I'm in love with their ahi salad. So good with capers, feta, roasted red bell pepper, and pine nuts. It's not a common pairing I would put together but it goes together so well. Service both times has been good. Came here on a Saturday night. We were told the wait was going to be about 25 minutes and they sent us a text, so we were able to track how many parties were ahead of us. We ended up only waiting about 15 minutes! I ordered the huckleberry lemon drop (not on the menu, but the waitress gave me the option when I ordered a lemon drop) and my husband ordered the western collective IPA. We both enjoyed our drinks and I was especially fond of my huckleberry lemon drop. I'm always concerned about my drinks being too sweet, but this was perfect and they used real huckleberries not just flavored syrup. For dinner we ordered chips and salsa to start. Nothing crazy, but it was good and the chips were served hot and the salsa was fresh and spicy. I ordered the pork chops which I will say was a little over cooked, but I would much rather have it that way than under and having it served to me what seemed like right off the grill definitely made up for it. The mashed potatoes and veggie sides were also delicious! My husband ordered the steak pasta, which he liked but he commented that he preferred my pork chops over his dish. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars was because of how loud it was in the restaurant. Not sure if it was just the people there or the music was too loud so people had to talk louder, but I really had to speak up to talk to my husband across the table. Not ideal for a classy date night, but the service was enough for us to want to come back. Our waitress refilled our water at least three times and checked on us frequently despite how busy the place was! Maybe we'll try a weekday lunch or dinner next time. read more

I love this restaurant! Wasn't feeling g line being social but wanted their yummy, delish food. Esp the side ceaser salad w/ the thick Parmesan cheese slices & croutons. I unfortunately got mostly lettuce and nothing else. Had to add my own Parmesan cheese & croutons. With my Bruschetta Pomodoro on take out was 1/2 of my portion when I eat in house. Same price as eating g in house but 1/2 the portions. Lessened learned... I'll never do take out again. read more

I love Bardenay! It's a great place to hang out with friends or solo. They've got great drinks and food. Dave the bartender is really nice, friendly, and can make fabulous drinks. I've had the trout which is really good. Tonight I decided to try the pho. It's really good but I wouldn't classify it as pho but beef noodle soup. Overall it's a great experience. Entered establishment and were seated immediately (self seating). We were provided menus upon being seated. Server/host offered to take our drink order. After a few minutes our server brought our drinks and took our order. This establishment uses cloth napkins and heavy duty tableware, great! Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the fish and chips and fish tacos. Both entrees use the same panko coated cod. The portions were generous considering the reasonable price of each entree. In reference to the taste/ consistency of the food, about in the average range. We look forward to visiting this location again.
