I have read a lot of the Bardenay reviews. I see a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on here. As I'm sure many reading this do, I understand it. The bar!! Another story!! I have to offer a separate review of that. because just from my experiences here, I don't believe the kitchen deserves to lose any stars. Pick your poison. I don't like a buffet, so I don't go. I don't like ribeye so I don't order it. If I found it awkward to seat myself I might stay away from off hours. The dinner rush may be noisy with a wait. Funny, that last one is my personal favorite, but that's just me. It had been several weeks since our last visit to Bardenay. Last night we made it just in time for the rush. As I pulled open the door and the noise hit me (like a punch in the face), I could not stop myself from smiling. guess I don't mind a little chaos. So, it's true the acoustics in this room may not be perfect for an intimate dinner at certain times of the day. I think just before or just after dinner rush might be good for that. The food, no the kitchen, ok no...the food! The menu goes a long way to include a wide-ish variety . I like that. But I only like half the stuff, so I only order from that half. Mostly.... THE........kitchen! To say that we have only had good experiences from the kitchen would be a understatement! Salmon...perfect every time. Filet......perfect Appetizers.. good job This is only my experience. I mostly order entrees during the rush. But I trust this kitchen. I trust this kitchen so much I think I would even order something I don't like. I routinely ask my server to go back and tell the kitchen I said "thank you"!Again, just my experiences. I had a great experience her the other night and have to throw out a shout to my waiter Chris. I travel all the time for work and I can say that Chris is probably one of the best waiters I have had in a long time. The vibe of this place is a modern brewery with lots of seating options and tv's all around to catch your favorite game... I had the smoked chicken wings and a side house salad and both were excellent. I loved the fact that they make all their dressings in house and you can really taste the difference. The wings were cooked perfectly and the spice was also perfect with the right amount of burn. We had a 5-star experience. Our server Brian was awesome! Everything came out like clockwork and the food is dandy ;). We started with warm chips and delicious pico-style salsa with sides of sour cream and they were perfection. A couple of bacon-wrapped filet Mignons, a chicken topped salad and couple of sandwiches with fries for days and our little family was in happy camper mode. Mom was happy with the banana-centric cocktail and we ended with cheesecake! The patio was lovely and we got a little windstorm at the end to make it fun with leaves swirling around our feet. Went there with office group for dinner. Food was good and drinks were fine. But they were too loud to have a conversation with anyone or anybody. Moreover, they don't take reservations for large gatherings even if informed well in advance. We were seated on bar stool table and even though we were sitting uncomfortably close to the person opposite to us, the place was so loud one cannot hear the person sitting next to them. Anyways, it was our mistake to chose this place in the first place. If grabbing food and drink is the requirement, sure this place fits the bill but definitely a no no to have a romantic evenings with loved ones or chill with friends or those causal evening outings with colleagues. The service is rushed as I believe they would like the table to be empty sooner than the later for the next party to dine in. Not my kind of place, may be yours. read more

My wife and I rarely get out with the tribulations of life, work and kids. We went out to the Bardenay due to the scenery and pleasant reviews. She ordered a fillet and it was cooked as she ordered with wonderful crispy shallots a stow. I ordered a sirloin sandwich, Cajun style. The flavor was spot on and cooked how I like it, however the steak was a bad quality and required a jaw workout to chew. I did not finish it and probably won't return here. read more

I first tried this location and experienced the worst rib-eye steak I think I have ever had. Then I tried the downtown location thinking maybe it was a one-off and experienced. Our family is still in shock after our experience here. I'm a business owner and chef of over 20 years, so we love food. Service was ok, it wasn't super busy, food was ordered and arrived in a decent amount of time. Our meals were mediocre but my son happened to order the Kimchi Reuben sandwich, sounds yummy? He's a huge fan of Reuben's and also kimchi, as a chef he has had the ability to try all sorts of food, he's also 18 years old. He took a few bites and literally turned red, he could absolutely not eat this sandwich, he said it was so hot it made his mouth numb. We told our server about this, and she said she was sorry and went and got Soucie the manager. WOW I have never experienced anyone in a restaurant act so condescending. My son calmly explained the issue, and she completely got defensive and attempted to explain what kimchi is in a very harsh tone, he couldn't get a word in, and she wouldn't stop I attempted to step in and calm her down. This women would not look at me, acknowledge me, or stop, she finally offered him something else after a really uncomfortable 3-4 minute rant. After she returned with the food my son thanked her, but she started to lecture him again. My son had a good point to make and really just a suggestion to warn people how hot this sandwich was. she was just not interested. The point he was trying to make was, If an elderly person ate the Reuben and was not aware of how extremely spicy it was, someone could really have a medical issue, like his grandma for example. She went on to explain that the kimchi was made in house and the "older crowd ordered this sandwich of death all the time" we thanked her and ran for the door never to return again. read more

We are elderly regulars at Bardenay Eagle who typically visit 2-3 times/wk because it is very close to where we live, the menu has some variety, the food and the bar are good, the prices are reasonable, the hours are generous, and most of the servers (e.g., Chris, Austin, Bryan, Shantelle, Darcey, Abby, Hayley, etc.) are wonderful. The purpose of this review is to get a message to a relatively new server who ruined our last evening there. We are partially to blame since we run our own business and often have urgent matters that push our dinner hour late. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday at 9:35p, knowing they close at 10p. We ordered a simple dinner (soup and salad & drinks), and were finishing up by 10:40p when our server, Skylar, handed me the check and was clearly angry. I gave him a generous 30% tip, but he came back to lecture us on how we were keeping people waiting. There were still quite a number of people still at the bar, The staff was still cleaning up, and none of the other servers we've had ever attacked us in this manner. My message to Skylar is: 'Don't attack the customer, especially a regular who generously tips, because you will drive away their business. You are in the hospitality business, and customer satisfaction is paramount.' We will take our business to other restaurants for awhile, until Skylar cools off. read more

We were very surprised when we went to pick up our food that the restaurant was nearly empty. Why the long prep time? The food was not great. My husband ordered the carnitas sandwich and didn't eat it because it tasted off. Given the positive reviews and the popularity of the place at other times we'd expected more. The pork was tender but not much flavor. The menu touted having poblano peppers on the sandwich....there was very little of it. So it became a very bready dry sandwich. My wife and I have been there several times and the reason we keep going back is because of the good quality of food on their menu and especially the friendly personal service by the servers. On our recent visit we sat at the bar where Vinnie took care of us. Friendly, personable, professional with a good sense of humor. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the burger and fries. Both were excellent. The fish was a good size serving; not greasy and very tasty. Plenty of fries as well. My wife enjoyed the burger, which was cooked exactly as she had asked. We love Fish & Chips but our dinners on Aug 1, 2023 consisted of three pieces of fish about the size of a silver dollar (along with fries), and sadly, the fish was overcooked as well. Have been told to visit for some time but never made it. The food was just as good as promised and the service was quick and friendly. The only down side was the noise. We ate inside as it had rained earlier, and although not all of the seats were full, it was difficult to hear much. The room is open with high ceilings and stone floors and it's just a big echo chamber. Now, it wouldn't keep me from going back, but something to be aware of. read more

Blah. That's all I can really say about this place. It feels like Cheesecake Factory in that the menu was huge, but none of it seemed to be done particularly well. Service stunk. My pasta special was basically a salmon Alfredo soup that was just there. It's like no one in the kitchen tried. Everyone just kind of picked at their meals and had that look on their face. This the second time we have tried this restaurant and been disappointed. Will not go back. The first sign of "we shouldn't eat here" were the 2 ladies next to us getting up and left because of no service. We sat at the bar to have a drink and lunch. It was not that busy, but from where we sat we could see the expo window and food was back up just sitting there in the window. I watch an order of eggs benedict sit there for 15 minutes, it was brought back to the kitchen immediately. A new couple sat next to us got their water and drinks and ordered. After 24 minutes I'm like we need to ask what's up. Then the couple who were seated after us got their appetizer. So I asked another server if she cold check on ours and could see her scrolling on the kiosk and she asked the manager to come see us. He was very unpleasant and told us that we had only been waiting 20 minutes and it would take 35 minutes to make our 2 sandwiches. This is at 2:30 in the afternoon. The kitchen from watching them the whole time had no sense of urgency, tired from breakfast service. My husband is a chef and we both have been in the industry for over 25 years and this was disappointing. I don't understand why people with no customer service skills work at restaurant's. From the hostess to the bartender to the manager very poor, phony and rude and unfriendly. We left and went to Albertsons and bought 2 sandwiches! read more
