I love this restaurant! Wasn't feeling g line being social but wanted their yummy, delish food. Esp the side ceaser salad w/ the thick Parmesan cheese slices & croutons. I unfortunately got mostly lettuce and nothing else. Had to add my own Parmesan cheese & croutons. With my Bruschetta Pomodoro on take out was 1/2 of my portion when I eat in house. Same price as eating g in house but 1/2 the portions. Lessened learned... I'll never do take out again. read more

Went to this restaurant on Eagle when we stayed in the hotel next door on Riverside drive. We had lunch and it was good nothing special

The food is very good and there is a good variety to choose from. Service is is fine. They are extremely busy so sometimes you have to wait a little bit. It is actually pretty noisy so talking to each other yes sometimes a little difficult. read more

there was a rat outside (see profile picture). i'm very disappointed. the food was alright and overheard manager scolding employees.

The staff was overwhelmed by the lunch crowd. Our waitress was rarely attending to us and it being just a three top told one of us to hand her the water so she could refill it when all she would have had to to is walk around the table and fill the water. Food was served cold except for the sweet potatoe fries and not all the food was served at the same time. Average. read more

Exceptional food, highly recommend the trout spread. Salmon is amazing and I don't like cooked fish. Pear salad is worth ordering too. read more

I have read a lot of the Bardenay reviews. I see a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on here. As I'm sure many reading this do, I understand it. The bar!! Another story!! I have to offer a separate review of that. because just from my experiences here, I don't believe the kitchen deserves to lose any stars. Pick your poison. I don't like a buffet, so I don't go. I don't like ribeye so I don't order it. If I found it awkward to seat myself I might stay away from off hours. The dinner rush may be noisy with a wait. Funny, that last one is my personal favorite, but that's just me. It had been several weeks since our last visit to Bardenay. Last night we made it just in time for the rush. As I pulled open the door and the noise hit me (like a punch in the face), I could not stop myself from smiling. guess I don't mind a little chaos. So, it's true the acoustics in this room may not be perfect for an intimate dinner at certain times of the day. I think just before or just after dinner rush might be good for that. The food, no the kitchen, ok no...the food! The menu goes a long way to include a wide-ish variety . I like that. But I only like half the stuff, so I only order from that half. Mostly.... THE........kitchen! To say that we have only had good experiences from the kitchen would be a understatement! Salmon...perfect every time. Filet......perfect Appetizers.. good job This is only my experience. I mostly order entrees during the rush. But I trust this kitchen. I trust this kitchen so much I think I would even order something I don't like. I routinely ask my server to go back and tell the kitchen I said "thank you"!Again, just my experiences. For me, the bar is a different story and it is clear why. I hope to review that next! read more

I had the tenderloin mushroom pasta, and it was really disappointing. The tenderloin was not tender, it was quite chewy. I also ordered medium rare, and it was served well done, Not a trace of pink anywhere! Service was not terribly attentive. I had to remind the server I ordered a side Caesar salad, and it was not brought out until I was half done eating. The salad was also dry, with very little dressing. read more

I had a great experience her the other night and have to throw out a shout to my waiter Chris. I travel all the time for work and I can say that Chris is probably one of the best waiters I have had in a long time. The vibe of this place is a modern brewery with lots of seating options and tv's all around to catch your favorite game... I had the smoked chicken wings and a side house salad and both were excellent. I loved the fact that they make all their dressings in house and you can really taste the difference. The wings were cooked perfectly and the spice was also perfect with the right amount of burn. Just a great experience all the way around and Thank You again Chris for making this a great visit. read more

This distillery and bar is fantastic. The service was great and the ambiance is lovely (outside patio seating is along a river). I'm gluten free, and their menu has a great selection of gluten free items that are clearly marked. I had the shrimp satay as an appetizer and the cider-brined pork chop for my entree. My friend had the peppered ahi appetizer and the red bean quinoa stew for dinner. Everything was safe for me to eat and delish - that was one of the best pork chops I've ever had. They distill their own lemon vodka, so we also had huckleberry lemon vodka martinis, which were wonderful. We were passing through town, but will make sure we go again next time we're in town! read more

Great place! We had lunch on the outdoor deck. Food and service were great! We will be back next time in town!

They are BEST place to eat. My favorite is Charbroiled Beef Tenderloin Salad With tomato-basil vinaigrette, feta cheese, tomatoes, and cucumber. I told them no onions. They did amazing Job and I love the beer Pilsner Urquell. I will come back same meal. read more

Drinks are great here and their sweet potatoes fries are the best I have had. The rest of their food is subpar and all of their meat is not local/good quality and no fish is wild caught. I also wish dogs could sit on the patio. read more

We had a 5-star experience. Our server Brian was awesome! Everything came out like clockwork and the food is dandy ;). We started with warm chips and delicious pico-style salsa with sides of sour cream and they were perfection. A couple of bacon-wrapped filet Mignons, a chicken topped salad and couple of sandwiches with fries for days and our little family was in happy camper mode. Mom was happy with the banana-centric cocktail and we ended with cheesecake! The patio was lovely and we got a little windstorm at the end to make it fun with leaves swirling around our feet. We enjoyed our experience here! OH and before we went in, kiddos got to skip some rocks in the river (there's a nice path to the river right behind the restaurant! So fun. read more

Went there with office group for dinner. Food was good and drinks were fine. But they were too loud to have a conversation with anyone or anybody. Moreover, they don't take reservations for large gatherings even if informed well in advance. We were seated on bar stool table and even though we were sitting uncomfortably close to the person opposite to us, the place was so loud one cannot hear the person sitting next to them. Anyways, it was our mistake to chose this place in the first place. If grabbing food and drink is the requirement, sure this place fits the bill but definitely a no no to have a romantic evenings with loved ones or chill with friends or those causal evening outings with colleagues. The service is rushed as I believe they would like the table to be empty sooner than the later for the next party to dine in. Not my kind of place, may be yours. read more

I've only had good service, which is refreshing in an era of lacking work force. Good craft cocktails. Great happy hour. I love the patio. Food is good too. read more

My wife and I rarely get out with the tribulations of life, work and kids. We went out to the Bardenay due to the scenery and pleasant reviews. She ordered a fillet and it was cooked as she ordered with wonderful crispy shallots a stow. I ordered a sirloin sandwich, Cajun style. The flavor was spot on and cooked how I like it, however the steak was a bad quality and required a jaw workout to chew. I did not finish it and probably won't return here. read more

Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday after an overnighter at the 500 in Boise. We opted for soup and shared the B. Club. The wife had a Bloody Mary but I stuck with water. Both the French onion soup and chorizo stew were excellent and came with bread. Always a great choice and the menu will never disappoint. Cheers! read more

Meh. Ordered food to go while staying at the hotel next door. Waited over an hour until our order was complete. We were very surprised when we went to pick up our food that the restaurant was nearly empty. Why the long prep time? The food was not great. My husband ordered the carnitas sandwich and didn't eat it because it tasted off. Given the positive reviews and the popularity of the place at other times we'd expected more. I would not recommend this place and would not return. read more

Team was very nice to set up our table for 10 very quickly. Our server was very nice and efficient To me the negative was the food was just ok. I had the carnitas sandwich. The pork was tender but not much flavor. The menu touted having poblano peppers on the sandwich....there was very little of it. So it became a very bready dry sandwich. I heard the same complaints about the turkey sandwich. May want to look at your condiments to kick up your flavors. read more

So I just visited the Bardenay for my husbands birthday, I had a few of my friends recommend this place so I had high hopes, the food wasn't all that good, I got tacos and the hot sauce they brought me was expired!!! That was very upsetting. Told the waiter and he acted very calm about it like it wasn't a problem... we'll rip my toilet rn. read more

Really tasty, by far the best food we've had since arriving to Boise (granted we've been here for a day). Have been told to visit for some time but never made it. The food was just as good as promised and the service was quick and friendly. The only down side was the noise. We ate inside as it had rained earlier, and although not all of the seats were full, it was difficult to hear much. The room is open with high ceilings and stone floors and it's just a big echo chamber. Now, it wouldn't keep me from going back, but something to be aware of. read more

Our family is still in shock after our experience here. I'm a business owner and chef of over 20 years, so we love food. Service was ok, it wasn't super busy, food was ordered and arrived in a decent amount of time. Our meals were mediocre but my son happened to order the Kimchi Reuben sandwich, sounds yummy? He's a huge fan of Reuben's and also kimchi, as a chef he has had the ability to try all sorts of food, he's also 18 years old. He took a few bites and literally turned red, he could absolutely not eat this sandwich, he said it was so hot it made his mouth numb. We told our server about this, and she said she was sorry and went and got Soucie the manager. WOW I have never experienced anyone in a restaurant act so condescending. My son calmly explained the issue, and she completely got defensive and attempted to explain what kimchi is in a very harsh tone, he couldn't get a word in, and she wouldn't stop I attempted to step in and calm her down. This women would not look at me, acknowledge me, or stop, she finally offered him something else after a really uncomfortable 3-4 minute rant. After she returned with the food my son thanked her, but she started to lecture him again. My son had a good point to make and really just a suggestion to warn people how hot this sandwich was. she was just not interested. The point he was trying to make was, If an elderly person ate the Reuben and was not aware of how extremely spicy it was, someone could really have a medical issue, like his grandma for example. She went on to explain that the kimchi was made in house and the "older crowd ordered this sandwich of death all the time" we thanked her and ran for the door never to return again. read more

More visits give me what I need to know I was wrong in rating at my last review, when I said 4 stars, and my first review, when I said 3 stars. Repeated visits put me at 2 stars. Service vacillates between lackluster and indifferent. Food is hit and miss. The saver is if you go right before 5pm and can get a table outside on a summer day absent searing heat or an abundance of flies, you can enjoy the setting along the river and pretty good specialty cocktails which may be enough to put up with the previously mentioned deficits. But see recent reviews from the following folks. Jennifer W. " Service was appalling...We will not be returning.. Chris C. "My conclusion is that it is a brewery with ho-hum staff a great menu that needs to be executed better!" Luis M "This place is just ok. The food was average but our waitress was grumpy." Yep. I agree. read more
