Sea Bass & Gnocchi
Rebecca G.

Oh my gosh I love this place!! What an incredible location with patio dining backed up to the greenbelt... the restaurant is nice! Pretty large and a hopping upscale sports bar vibe. They have an incredible menu! So much to choose from... our server was awesome and loved her recommendations! 2 of us had the sea bass with gnocchi and wow! Perfectly cooked, seasoned and portioned! My husband loved his pork chop! Also perfectly seasoned and cooked just right!! We sat for quite a while and were pretty much the last of the guests in the patio and the staff was so nice, checking on us and telling us to enjoy our time! I HIGHLY recommend dining here!

Location was open and beautiful. Service was prompt and great. Cheeseboard was a little lacking. But my steak sandwich was great. Def look forward to coming back here when I'm back in town.

I had actually been to a Bardenay in CDA but didn't realize it was the same restaurant until getting there! Food was delicious and service was great! I got the Buddha bowl and it was the perfect size!

Bardenay has quickly become a family favorite for family celebrations and honestly, I'm remiss since I haven't rated this place sooner. The only downfall to Bardenay is the lack of ability to make of a reservation. This was obvious when a rude party of 10 literally stopped their car in front of my daughter and me in the parking lot to jump out in their effort to beat us to the host station. People, chill....Bardenay has never let us down, even if there is a wait....no need to be a selfish jerk. But this isn't the restaurant's fault....but having the option to make reservations for large parties would probably limit these types of aggressive situations. The wait at the host station was inordinately long due to the large party, as they tried to figure out seating. There was only one person at the front trying to handle their obnoxious party, while the other 5 sets of people that came in after patiently waited. It took about 10 minutes to finally be seated, but it was worth the wait. Keana was our server...what a ray of sunshine, joy and rainbows. Adored every moment we had with her...prompt, thoughtful service, drink refills without asking for them and just a wonderfully positive experience overall. They were still serving the brunch/lunch menu at 11:30 am on a Saturday....it was actually hard to choose what to eat; everything sounded delicious. I opted for the Bardenay Club with fries and ranch dressing for dipping, husband had the tuna melt and daughter had the Caesar salad with chicken. Food came out quickly and correct to order. The Caesar salad was heavily dressed, but the dressing was so wonderful the amount of dressing wasn't an issue. Chicken was fork tender, bacon crispy and the tomatoes were diced to perfection. Utterly scrumptious. My club sandwich was layered with the same crispy bacon, tender stacks of turkey, ham and crunchy lettuce. All the ingredients sang in unison. Loved the fries and that herbaceous ranch dressing was the perfect kiss of flavor with the fries. Hubby had never had a tuna melt before and was pleasantly surprised with the grilled cheese like texture of the bread, melty cheese and fresh tuna salad. Service was top notch. Even though I didn't sit outside, the patio was pretty full....but the patio looked beautiful and the view was very serene from my vantage point. Can't wait to try the patio one day, but will always love my visits to Bardenay no matter where I sit (thank goodness they sat us far away from the very loud party of 10 so we could enjoy ourselves).

Cheeseboard

Let me just say that this place has been our favorite so far while in Idaho. It sits on the river and the views are gorgeous, as well as the restaurant itself. It was still decorated for Halloween, so festive. The service was amazing- so friendly, great recommendations and super attentive and kind. We had a splurge night tonight and the teens got various mocktails, I ordered the huckleberry lemon drop (which was by far one of the best drinks I have ever had) and a guava drink (that was decent). We ordered the cheese board to start, which in my opinion is such a nice addition to any menu, and everything on it paired well together. For our main course we ordered the French dip, which was honestly our least favorite thing, it was okay, but didn't compare to everything else we tried there. The Alfredo with added chipotle chicken as well as the mushroom tenderloin pasta (which was amazing, and one of the best pastas we have ever had). For dessert, my daughter ordered the chocolate lava cake, which she said was delicious. Overall, we absolutely loved our experience, service and the food and drinks were amazing. Also, everything is priced so reasonably. We would definitely go back.

Went here on a whim. Got a great hefenweizen beer. Others had cocktails. Very good. Had the 14 oz. ribeye with tasty veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. My son had the French dip with bell peppers, cheese and onions. My grumpy granddaughter had fettuccine and became happy again. Sat outside by river. Very nice setting. Service was very good. Topped it off with cheesecake desert. Forgot the pictures of entrees.

I was told you might do paella on the weekends? If this is true what time is it served

I’m afraid we do not do Paella on the weekends. You may possibly have us confused with the Basque market in downtown Boise. I believe The Basque Market does Paella once a week, I’m not sure what day. Hope that helps.

Ambiance is kind of like a dive bar. Food was not the best and a bit overpriced. I tried the beef barbacoa tacos and pulled pork sandwich. The taco was okay, but the pulled pork was pretty dry even with the bbq sauce. Ordered an Old Fashioned drink with my meal. I always judge a bar by how they make the traditional drinks like Old Fashioned, mojitos, and Long Island ice tea to name a few. It was bad. Not sure how they got it bad. Too much bitters? Cheap alcohol? I don't know. The "highlight" of my night was an interaction with the bartender lady. After all the eating, my friends and I stuck around outside to chat. I decided to go back in to grab a beer. The Yakima Blend IPA caught my attention so I asked for that. I pay $13 for it. Bartender gives me my cash change. I leave a $5 bill as tip (on a $13 beer!). She takes it and asks, "That's it?" Too good for a 40% tip? My company keeps an unofficial list of must-try and stay-away-from hotels and restaurants near our offices in various states. The thing that jumped out at me was the photo of the burger, now call me crazy but I think at this point I can look at a menu, photos of food and then the reviews to guide me. Yelp hasn't failed me yet! The first thing was walking in the door there were two hostess who smiled and greeted me. We were seated at the bar since there were just two of us. I ordered the Crave burger with bacon and my guest ordered the house salad with tortilla soup. Everything was excellent! The burger was juicy, flavorful, the bacon was perfectly crispy, Smokey and the white cheddar cheese was the perfect compliment! Now let's talk about the bun, I typically don't eat burger buns but this one was the exception to the rule. It was homemade obviously, buttery, light, and toasted to perfection. I ate both of them! Hahahaha! I felt so dirty typing that the French fries were crispy, just the right amount of salty and fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. My guest agrees with everything in this review. The house salad was fresh, the vinaigrette was homemade and delicious and the tortilla soup was even great! The ambience was a place you could have a business meeting or take your significant other on a date night. There is literally something for everyone on their crave-able menu ( see what I did there?) I had never been to this bar but my friend had done some work events here. She got a glass of her usual Pinot Grigio as wine is all she drinks. We had a nice time chatting and she then wanted a second glass of wine. I too, had a second cocktail. The bartender brought Chardonnay to her and then realized it was not the wine she originally had. She asked my friend if she wanted to drink it or if she would like the Pinot Grigio. My friend kindly said, "I prefer the Pinot". Although the bartender didn't appear upset, she abruptly threw the wine into the sink, possibly irritated. She then went out of sight to the kitchen where she was pouring Costco boxed wine. I thought this was odd that they would have Costco boxed wine and that it was stored and poured in the kitchen, being that this was a bar. I have lived in many states and this is something that I have never seen done, but all states have different rules about liquor and wine. Shortly into the second glass of wine, my friend's behavior began changing. She was about 1/3 into the glass, and she suddenly seemed to become heavily sedated, as if she had been drugged. Her speech was very slurred and it seemed her motor skills were very impaired. I had never seen her like this. She can easily handle a bottle of wine, as can I, without incident. We didn't engage much with anyone except a man who came in to get his missing phone. He was mostly talking to the bartender but we briefly chatted with him. People came in and out of the bar with costumes and spoke to the bartender and ordered drinks, to the left of my friend's seat. Nothing appeared to be out of order except my friend appeared very impaired. She went downhill quickly only partially through that second glass of wine. My friend was very incoherent at this point and she became paranoid which is totally out of character for her. She thought the bartender and man next to her were laughing at her. She actually started crying saying, "They're laughing at me. They're laughing at me". I assured her they were not. I then encouraged me friend to get up and we would go use the bathroom. She had apparently lost all control of her legs because when she got up from the seat she instantly collapsed to the floor like a rag doll. It was shocking. I had to help her up from the floor and into the restroom. To my utter shock she did not even recognize me saying, "Who are you? Where's bunny? You're not bunny!". It was bizarre. I was very concerned since I have never seen her like this and we are both seasoned and regular nightly wine drinkers for many years. Many concerned patrons came up to me to try to help. When we finally came out of the bathroom I said to the bartender, "I have never seen my friend like this. I think she may have been drugged. This doesn't make sense." The bartender seemed quite dismissive and replied, "Oh no, I just gave her a heavy pour." Yes, the wine glass did appear more full than a standard pour but my friend again is a veteran drinker and I have seen her drink two or even three glasses of wine and be completely fine. I thought it was interesting that the bartender would say such a thing and so quickly dismiss my suspicion. I also found it odd that she had thrown the wine abruptly into the sink. I also find it suspect that the wine is not being held behind the bar where customers can watch it being poured. Instead it is poured in another room out of sight. While I have no proof and did not witness any foul play I am sure that somebody slipped something into my friend's drink. She was not drunk. She appeared to be drugged. Was it a patron? The man who came back for his phone? Or another partygoer in a costume? That may be possible I suppose but her wine glass was within my view the entire time and I saw nothing suspect. Either way, I believe she was drugged. Again, I have NEVER seen my friend like this. She has NO memory of that night. All of that from a glass and a half of wine? I don't think so. Either way, I cannot recommend this establishment and I will never return based on this experience. It was a very dark experience and I regret ever going out that night. This situation has created huge tension between her husband and I since I am the one who returned her home in this condition. And this tension seems to have caused a rift in our relationship as well. I have reached out to her multiple times and no response. This event not only traumatized her but it traumatized her husband, myself, and my husband as well. It appears to have caused a rift in all of our relationships. It is hard to believe that someone would do such a horrible thing. Apparently I have run out of characters but I am not quite done. I have uploaded and image which is a screen shot of the rest of the story of the incident.
