Great first visit here today on Father's Day for lunch. We decided to sit at the bar so as not to have to wait, just me and the hubs. Christopher was training Kayla behind the bar, and never missed a beat. Great personable service as I picked his brain about being a bartender (something I've always wanted to try doing). For such a youngster, he had a lot of bar knowledge. We learned a few things. Only craft beers on tap, but they have domestic bottles too. Like I said, service was great, but that's always because we're face to face, I do think table service was slower. We saw drinks sitting, waiting to go out, for longer than I would be happy with. Bathrooms were clean with hot water. Absolutely amazing patio seating, but wasn't our choice to wait today. The greenbelt is literally accessible right out the parking lot. Walk off that dessert. The food is always good at Bardenay and the drinks are amazing. They make their own vodka and it's super delicious. It's a pretty loud atmosphere which is okay but just something to know. The service is usually pretty good, the last time I was there I walked up to the bar to order a drink and the bartender was obviously put out. After a couple of tries he conceded that he would take my order but he was very busy. That was pretty annoying since I had just arrived to join a group of friends and wasn't sure who my waiter was. That said when I got to the table the waiter was incredibly helpful, professional, and friendly. Overall it was a good experience, but I didn't appreciate getting brushed off by the bartender. read more

Came in after work with some friends the server notified us that the kitchen was closing in a few minutes and to get our order in. Felt kind of rushed the whole time. I ordered a burger with pink inside and it definitely came out well done. I tried this key lime honey mustard for my sweet potato fries and it was not my cup of tea but their ranch was fantastic. So it breaks my heart to give only 1 star as I am not usually that person. Me and my boss had just drove 5 hours for a work meeting in the morning and just wanted a drink. We were staying at the Hilton (same parking lot as the distillery). We walked over at 9:50pm and just as we were walking to the door a couple in front of us was let in, So we figured we could politely knock and ask to have a drink since the door was locked. Finally after a few minutes the bartender walked over and let us in for "a" drink. Then when sitting down at the bar (which had 6-8 people still drinking) we ordered our drinks. The manager named Michael then told us we closed at 9pm and myself not being from here explained I am sorry the hotel told us you were open until 10pm, rudely he said nope closed at 9pm and walked off. Came to find out the couple let in before us was ok because Michael knew them. I must say that I would have given 5 stars just based off of Chris the bartender as he was very accommodating and polite to a few girls just looking for a drink in the 90 degree weather after a 5 hour drive. I hope that things are a little different when it is not a Monday and you are wanting business to pick back up after COVID. We just wanted a drink, no food just a drink to help sleep. read more

I'm being very generous with 4 stars. I don't think 1 bad experience should overshadow many positive visits. Today 6 of us went in for lunch. 3 ordered the Pho. Is was AWFUL. It was meat and noodles in a broth without the veggie toppings that make Pho. The meat was tough and tasteless. The noodles appeared to be a wheat noodle rather than rice noodles. I would give it a -1. I ordered the Bahn Mi sandwich. It was just okay. The chewy grande bread overpowered the sandwich ingredients. I would give it a 3. The other two meals were fine. No one raved but they were ok. When we picked this lunch spot, everyone agreed they'd never had bad food at Bardenays. (Until today) read more

Super loud inside, marginal service, and a real strange cheese board give this place five stars for me. I won't even mention that the one drink I had with mid shelf bourbon was 10$. Yeah, no. Not overly impressed with this location. The cheese board is rather small and came out with a ton of tarragon leaves shredded On top. The cheese east just these blocks that you had to cut yourself, and the oil for the bread was just olive oil with no flavor to it. I will say the bread portion was generous. There wasn't really enough cheese to match up with the fruit that was given, and not even close to enough cheese to match to the bread. Price for the bard was high for what you get so I'm guessing the atmosphere is what I'm paying for? I'd like a refund. Granted, I went on a Friday evening so I expected there to be a fair number of patrons, but there is nothing done here to mellow out the loud cackles of the table of eleventy women who must have just left work and needed to party like it was 1940. It was very hard to hear anyone when conversing with them unless you went into I'm going to tell you a secret mode. I'll try this place again for lunch before the big crowd and see if it's better, for now it's a three star at best. read more

Was in Eagle for a business trip. And Bardenay was across the parking lot from my hotel. It was very busy. But lively. My server was busy but she always checked in to make sure my drink was filled. I ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. Got the blue cheese butter topping. The mash was flavorful great roasted garlic flavor without being over powering. The veg was a medley of summer offerings squash peppers and green beans. I was very pleased with my meal and the friendliness of all persons I encountered on the staff. Next time I will try one of their distilled spirits. read more

I love Bardenay! It's a great place to hang out with friends or solo. They've got great drinks and food. Dave the bartender is really nice, friendly, and can make fabulous drinks. I've had the trout which is really good. Tonight I decided to try the pho. It's really good but I wouldn't classify it as pho but beef noodle soup. Overall it's a great experience. Remember 2007 or 2008 when this was the fun hotspot in Eagle after golfing or an early exit from work on Friday? Food quality has continued to decline over the years and they can't compete any longer. The location on the river, close proximity to the hotel, and margins on liquor must play a big role in staying open. I've eaten my last bad meal there. read more

More visits give me what I need to know I was wrong in rating at my last review, when I said 4 stars, and my first review, when I said 3 stars. Repeated visits put me at 2 stars. Service vacillates between lackluster and indifferent. Food is hit and miss. The saver is if you go right before 5pm and can get a table outside on a summer day absent searing heat or an abundance of flies, you can enjoy the setting along the river and pretty good specialty cocktails which may be enough to put up with the previously mentioned deficits. Walking in the door in a Sunday night your are immediately struck with an awful smell, like bad breath or stale fish. The bar was full and so we walked to the far end of the bar where you can see into the kitchen or prep area. From there you are treated to a moras of dirty dishes and glasses sitting in bussing bins. From there the smell was stronger. I have had drinks and food from Bardenay Eagle and downtown and was unimpressed. It's surprising the place was as busy as it is. Too many better places in the area. We sat for a couple minutes and no one acknowledged our presence and so we left. We won't go back. read more

This place is so pretty and I can see the potential of a nice meal on the patio. My review is specifically for Mother's Day brunch. I treated my mother and sister and was embarrassed. We were in and out within 45 minutes. The line to get food was long, the food was cold, and the selection was slim. One little mimosa with no option to buy a bottle. Just $6.50 for each additional glass. We usually like to sit for a while and relax. Disappointing and embarrassing that my mother ate cold food for her day. Going to keep this review short & sweet. Have been here a couple of times, service is great. Unique atmosphere & architecture, really love the space. Food is great, presentation is very nice. Prices are fairly reasonable. One of the bigger negatives (for me at least) is when the place is busy, the inside dining area gets pretty loud, almost like a school cafeteria. This is primarily because the place is open concept inside. This is easily fixable if you're lucky enough to get an outside table. Trust me, try to get an outside table (when the weather is nice). Haven't had a bad experience yet, one of the better places to come to in Eagle / Meridian area. Parking can get somewhat packed, so you can park in the hotel parking lot which is next to the restaurant OR park at the nearby park (Reid Merrill Park) and walk down the greenbelt to the restaurant (a VERY pleasant 15 minute or so walk). FYI, you don't wait for someone to sit you down at a table. You sit yourself. Kind of felt like a n00b when I came here my first time lol. If you do find a seat inside, but you soon find an open spot outside, you CAN move outside, they will know you moved! read more

Let me preface that Covid probably had an effect on the menu and service but I'll go ahead and leave my not so great review. We had reservations for 7:30 but we were about 10 minutes late getting our table. Not a huge deal but still. The waitress got us water and we ordered tri color chips and salsa. I had a stout and my girlfriend had a prickly pear cider. The stout was great. I didn't care for the the cider but my girlfriend enjoyed it. The "tri-color" chips were tri-color by definition only. All yellow corn chips with 2 or 3 "other color" chips thrown in. There were tons of crumbs on the plate so we were at the end of the bag. Chips tasted great though and the salsa was fantastic. Took about 20 minutes for the waitress to come back to get our food order. This was partially my fault as I couldn't remember what she looked like to flag her down to tell her we were ready to order. Our water glasses were never refilled. The food was pretty decent. I had the charbroiled salmon sandwich. The bread was awesome, nothing outstanding about the fish itself. The Caesar salad wasn't that great. Lettuce wasn't crisp and only a few croutons. My girlfriend had the club sandwich. The sandwich was had great meat portions and the sweet potato fries were really good. All in all, decent food at a decent price. The service wasn't that great BUT, again, I'm will to accept Covid as an excuse. We might give the place another shot if we stay at the hotel next door again but won't we go out of ourway to visit the next time we're in Eagle. read more

Yum! I went here 4 breaky with a gal pal after a walk around the river with my infant, and they were AWESOME. The food was tasty, and the service was top notch. I didn't have to ask 4 a thing. My infant was with us tableside in a carrier, and he thoroughly enjoyed himself, too. If you're looking 4 a family-friendly, upscale restaurant with great food, check this place out! I got a different dish than I ordered and when I questioned the waitress she said the dish I wanted wasn't on the menu any longer. The young lady was obviously doing the best she could to make it right and didn't really know what to do with an upset customer. I wanted to apologize to her personally but after she dropped the check, someone else picked it up. I asked her if she was the manager and she said "yes". I said that this nice girl didn't know what to do when I was upset and she should have gotten her manager right away to help her. I then told her I didn't think she was a very good manager and promptly offended her as well. I decided to leave her a good tip and a note that I felt bad for being a jerk but like an idiot, I wrote that she should quit this job the first chance she gets. What I want her to know is I didn't say that because her service was bad but, I felt sorry for her because her managers had failed her and this might not be the best place to work. Please accept my apology for my snooty behavior and embarrassing my Wife like I do all the time. I feel horrible that I have hurt this young lady and I hope anyone reading this will tell her I'm sorry. read more

After being under quarantine for months, we decided to go out for lunch because Bardenay has an outdoor seating area (less chance of contacting the virus). We made reservations. The restaurant called and confirmed our reservations that morning for 1 PM seating for 3 on the patio. When we arrived, the hostess informed us that our reservation was for inside and there was no seating available on the patio. The hostess and her compatriot we very rude and offered NO solution to their obvious error. Our server was very good, congenial, and efficient and our food was very good and well prepared. However, the manager needs to be paying attention to what is going on at their front door. This isn't my first bad experience with Bardenay, and, in the future, I will avoid going there. read more

I liked this place. the building itself is gorgeous! the outside looks like a fancy aspen hotel and the inside is like a beautiful cabin. it's right on the river. they did a good job with the whole place....that's kinda where I stop loving it. I don't like "seat yourself" restaurants. it makes it feel less formal. and I don't like the tables and chairs they chose- they cheapen the whole place. they should have picked like those nice heavy wood tables- it feels like it's outdoor furniture inside. the chairs are super uncomfortable. they are missing the mark here for sure. it's just a bunch of tables all over the place. the seat yourself situation basically means you have to flag down a server to bring you some menus. both times I have been here this was the situation. it's a damn free for all. the food all sounds good but I have to say nothing I have eaten there impressed me very much, except for the sweet potato fries. which are a frozen product so we will move past that. i've tasted a good amount of stuff off the menu because everyone gave me bites to try, and I just wasn't wowed. I wanted to like it more than I did. the prices are really good though, so if you're coming here for a bite at lunch and don't want to spend a fortune, I would say this is a good place for that. I can't say I won't be back, but this wasn't my favorite place and it kind of disappointed me. read more

5 years and countless satays later, and I am still excited to go to this Eagle gem. The daily specials are always an adventure you can count on, but what I also love about this establishment is their consistency and quality. You won't find a better portion and cut for a salmon sandwich in town. Always ask for an extra side of that saucy sauce to dip it in. Today I tried to order via my Smartohone. Very difficult but finally placed the order. Called to find out if order had gone through & was put on hold. I drove 35 minutes to the restaurant, & was still on hold when I arrived. No one ever came back on the phone. When I arrived & went inside, the young lady, after I told her what happened, got a man who I had to repeat the information to. He went away & after about 5 minutes came back & said the order had not come through. Neither of them would tell me who put me on hold & left me hanging. I wasted about and hour & 20 minutes. I will not be going to Bardenay again. This is just a rude & disrespectful way to treat customers. read more
