I stopped in around 9:45pm, secured a seat at the bar and ordered some random items with no rhyme or reason -- everything was fantastic! The halibut was buttery with a super crispy and properly seasoned skin. The elk meatballs were good. The mac and cheese was out of this world good- I had one bite at the restaurant and ate the rest the next day (unfortunately no photo). Last but not least, the "little" chocolate cake! When I ordered it, the bartender gave me a warning that it was not so little but I was still surprised when they brought out a whole chocolate cake! I haven't been able to stop talking about it - dessert is the best part of dinner for me and this was one of my favorite chocolate cakes I've had. I really don't say this lightly, but Bardea may be the best restaurant I've ever been to. It is for sure the best steakhouse. I'm not much of a steak eater but my carnivorous date made me try a piece of their steak and it was phenomenal. The ambiance is very stylish and kinda sexy. Or as sexy as a restaurant with a case of dry aged ducks on full view can be. I loved the vibe of both the bar and restaurant sections. And the fantastic service really pushed this fantastic meal over the top. we tried a smattering of what felt like every appetizer that they offer. The lamb tostada was the stand out for me, as it was an inventive dish that was very flavorful. So it seems that the steaks are in a small selection of sizes that you don't really know about until you order. My date was interested in the washugyu ribeye just to find out that the only one available was like 55 ounces or something crazy like that, and over $200. Thankfully he was feeling like a baller and was quite hungry so that didn't bother him, but if money is a concern then you may have to shop around and see what they have available. Though again, Washugyu was the most delicious steak I have ever tasted. I got the salmon and even that blew me away. Every aspect of this restaurant was incredible and I can't wait to go back some day soon. read more

By far, my favorite restaurant. The Butcher's Feast is a culinary journey through five cattle breeds. Mac n cheese, loaded potato, smoked cabbage ... each bite a taste blossom. Bardea Steak is a restaurant where the food becomes irrelevant due to its ambiance and the mediocracy of its service. The expectations for service excellence are unquestionable when you pay a 4 oz of Japanese Wagyu $130 and a markup of 55% for the wine ordered. Unfortunately, our experience last Saturday was very unsatisfactory. Let's start with the ambiance. The restaurant is extremely noisy, which makes it challenging to have a relaxed and enjoyable conversation as you have to raise your voice or move closer to each other to be able to hear. Throughout the entire time, we experienced inferior service; the waiter could not occult the haste of his actions. We ordered bread that came with olive oil for dipping, and before we finished it, he took the oil away; when he changed the silverware for the main course, the knives ended between the forks and soup spoon; I ordered a coffee and I have to recall the waiter about it and when finally came it was cold; the check arrived even before it was requested, I proceeded to pay with my Visa and the waiter came back saying it was declined and left. I immediately called the bank for an explanation. The bank informed me that the establishment should have inserted or slid the Visa card into the credit card terminal because of the amount of the check and security reasons and not just tap it as they did. I expressed to the waiter my dissatisfaction regarding the credit card issue, and the manager came and accepted the mistake of his employee; however, he did not offer any resolution; his only focus was to know my level of satisfaction with the food, which at that point the value of the food was lost as my disappointment with the whole experience increased. In conclusion, Bardea Steak is a no-go. read more

I wanted to love it. I went with a party of 6, and when we got there for our reservation time, we had to wait 30 minutes to be sat. There's no where for you to hang out waiting for your table, so we were just constantly in everyone's way. The music was so loud, that sitting at the far end of the booth, I couldn't hear one word that our server said, or for that matter, people in my party who were not directly next to me. The apps were delicious- I think we tried 5 or 6, good for sharing! We got two tasting boards, and they were a great mix of cuts, and we all agreed on a different one as our favorites. I don't suggest the loaded potato or the Mac n cheese- neither had much flavor. Our service was lacking. We were often going 15 minutes or more without seeing our server. For the price of our meal, I'd expect to be wowed with the service. read more

Mind you, I ended up with a different firm in 1201 building so walking there now is kind of a hike, but doable except I would not do it at night. They do offer valet parking though so that's a plus. What an absolutely brilliant, fabulous and exceptional dining experience. My fiance and I were going to dinner with another couple, and they made the arrangements and the reservations. The two of us had heard a lot about Bardea Steak, but had never been. The restaurant is beautifully appointed, and the team is so wonderful and on point. We were quickly seated in the middle of the dining room, and our waiter could not have been better regarding attentiveness and recommendations. The cocktails and beer list were amazing, and the food itself was perfect - we had a few small plate, tapas-style shareable appetizers and all were delicious. The steak is obviously the star of the show, and with good reason. My 16 oz filet was perfect, and the sides and desserts were great as well. While it is not an inexpensive meal, it was well worth the splurge and we will absolutely be back. Nothing better than going in with high expectations and having them exceeded. Sort of mansplained everything Good : sides were excellent. Mushrooms, Mac & cheese, salad all top notch. Great wine by glass selection and good cocktails. The just OK: we all had steak of some variety. The texture of the meat was funky and very soft. Seasoning and cook were great. Our conclusion was the meat was sous vide. Several of us commented independently about this. I guess this is personal preference, but in all high end steak house I've eaten at I never experienced this mushy texture. The Bad: parking in downtown is horrible at best. Valet ( $25) works. Menu announced surcharge of 3% ( not a tip but contribution to employee health care). That really bugged me. Don't know average check, but this is a top dollar place and I assume it is north of $ 125 per person. If the owners want to "honor" their staff, maybe it should come out of their side of the ledger. It was just an ok restaurant. . Would I go again? Probably not. A lot of steak houses with better beef and less social engineering. read more

Party of 2, Celebrated a birthday here a few weeks ago, waited well over an hour for our entrees. During that timeframe, our waiter came over once to tell us the food would be right out... just disappeared after that, steaks came out subpar, sides were sitting under the warmer for so long that the tops of them began to burn. Multiple tables sat down after us and received food before us. Overall crappy experience to celebrate my 40th birthday. Oh, and upon the review on OT, I'm assuming a manager responding to the review requesting my information. When I provided that info, the response was "how can I help you". I was really excited to visit Bardea Steak as OG Bardea is one of my favorite restaurants to visit. I will start off by noting that this restaurant concept is still in its infancy and has oceans of potential for growth and improvements. The decor fits the cuisine and the drinks were great. Some dishes were a miss some were a hit. The turducken croquette needs some refining as it lacks any real seasoning or flavor profile. The golden guernsey croissant was also a huge miss for me. The croissant was too hot and lost almost all it's defined layers and the whipped ricotta was lackluster. Lastly, the Kombu and cream was also a miss. See pics for more comments. Everything else was PHENOMENAL! The skewers, the lamb and a few non pictured dishes ( scallion salad, king Amman, beef heart empanadas) are inspired and i highly suggest trying them. I was looking forward to eating at Bardea Steak. Overall, the experience was good. The steak was good. Two of us had the picanha and two had the New York strip. The steak was cooked perfectly to everyone's request. I had the elk skewer as well. One of the best icees of game that I have had. The cocktails were also well crafted and showed an attention to detail. The twice baked potato was an experiment that did not pan out. Love the fact there's 2 restaurants (Bardea and Bardea Steak) side by side only separated by a nice outdoor seating area where you'll be able to order from both locations soon. My wife & I already loved Bardea so we decided to try the new "Bardea Steak". Somehow the decor is temporary but we loved it. The ambiance was pleasing, the staff was great (Jamie our server was excellent!!!) and the food was phenomenal. Combined we ordered wine, martinis (the way the house makes them with Kettle Vodka, so good), oysters, other "snacks", ostrich skewer, a steak and dessert. Let's just say, I'd like to try everything on the menu because everything was scrumptious. The only negative is they don't open until 5, because with a job that's remote I'd love to go there during the day to hold meetings etc. Highly recommend. A+ read more

Attention to detail. There are a lot of high end steakhouses and most are predictable and you can get a good piece of meat that is cooked right. Bardea does this but better. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is an event. No details are left to chance. There is thought and artistry put into each dish. When food comes out for other tables, you can't help yourself but look to see what others in the restaurant have ordered. The meal starts with a bread box of onion scone and brioche. The scone is exquisite. We had some of the composed oysters which are omg good and the charcuterie board. The wonderful collection of preserved meats are served on a pink Himalayan serving block. Fantastic. At the next table they got a deconstructed burger which was cooked table side. Way cool. Also the wagyu empanada was superb. Every aspect of the meal rocked. The service was spot on. The staff is well trained and obviously well taken care of. Oh and yes the steak was first rate and served at the perfect temperature. It was a lovely evening and reasonably priced for the quality of the fare. Anyone who complains about paying too much for bone-in Wagyu steak doesn't understand what it's value is. read more

So amazing. I can see why this was on vogues most anticipated openings. We started with the cubed bread to keep it simple. It was so buttery and flakey. We'll have to go back for the steak, but for our first time we wanted to try some of the unique menu items. We tried an ostrich skewer, elk skewer, and the kangaroo chili. All delicious and cooked to perfection. Also ordered the house salad for greens and even that was incredible. Not to mention the tasty cocktails and best glass of rose I've had in a while. This restaurant is VERY lucky they have an amazing chef. From the beginning things were going well. The food was amazing. We ordered a $150 steak medium. It came out well done. The manager and chef were very apologetic and made us a new steak with a free side and dessert. The dessert took 45 minutes to arrive. We just wanted to leave. They lied on their menu about the price of Basil Hayden bourbon. It was a 3 hour experience that should've been under 2. All in all, wouldn't go back which is disappointing because the food truly was amazing. This is an instance where the service/management truly ruined the experience. It took a while for our server to come over, and when he did, he didn't introduce himself, it was quick and rushed. I assumed it was because he was busy, and I didn't really care. We ordered drinks which came out quickly. The menu is large and daunting and we needed a lot of description from our waiter in which he was very knowledgeable and helpful when asked. We ordered the house salad which came out quick and then the butcher's feast- which was a steak tasting and the Mac and cheese. It took about an hour to get our food and when we did, the steak wasn't hot, but the Mac and cheese was scalding. For desert, we got the kid n' play which was absolutely delicious. Overall the food was good, but for a restaurant where you're paying for experience and quality, it was just okay. read more

Highly anticipated but failed to live up to expectation. Overall ambience is great, the best part of the restaurant is perhaps the courtyard rather than the food. Overly complicated menu for steak selection. We had three different cuts of steak and none were good. Either too sweet , not enough salt, or not seasoned well. Not a great sign when the best thing about a restaurant is the house music they are pumping in. Cold reception by the hostess at the front door, two side items were forgotten about and not brought out with our selections of beef, to which the waiter responded, "oh yea, it's on the ticket, not sure why they didn't come out." Not an apology at all. Forgot the b1 add on as well. Ask for my strip medium+, it was medium rare. The cocktails, however were superb. The house music and cocktails are not enough for us to come back though. For fabulous steak, we'll continue to make the trek to Philly. Bardea steak is not ready for prime time. Got a last minute reservation while in town visiting friends, and it was the highlight of the trip. Completely surpassed expectations!! I am a pretty picky eater, and not only tried but genuinely loved the kangaroo and elk. The steaks were incredible, and the staff had an incredible knowledge on the menu. I love the concept of the "steak flight" to be able to try various types of steak next to each other. Everything we ate was so flavorful, yet perfectly balanced. I've dined at a lot of great restaurants across the country (I'm an event planner - so menu tasting is in my job description!), and this was by far one of the best experiences I've ever had. read more

Beyond excellent. This was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Reservation was confirmed the night before, which I appreciated. We had a 7:30 Friday night reso and our table was ready immediately upon arrival. Every staff member we interacted with went above and beyond, especially our server. She reviewed all of both menus with us so we had almost no questions. The menus themselves are physically beautiful and so well put together. The selection is also, of course, amazing, on all menus. Our cocktails were both excellent, both "signature" cocktails I believe and we both had a Guinness second. We had a lot so I won't describe it all but we did enjoy it all. Some highlights were the tiger prawn cocktail & dates en nogada. We went with the zabuton option for steak, with 3 add ons. For add ons we did B1 sauce, beef garum Au jus and lobster butter. The B1 sauce is incredible. I will be honest and say neither of us were fans of the lobster butter. We also had Mac n cheese for a side and that was super yummy & rich. Underwhelmed! My wife and I went to Bardea to celebrate my wife's birthday so this was a huge splurge for us. Everything on the menu is à la carte, including $2 for water?! I was expecting to be wowed by the service and quality of the food, unfortunately that was not the outcome. Our server was brusque and seemed rushed most of the time. The menu is confusing and when explained led us to believe that one should order many small plates (similar to Tapas) and then the main event being the steak. We ordered 4 small plates and a filet mignon steak. The small plates were larger than expected and the steak was overcooked, the rest of the food we were served was average. Needless to say, we could not finish all the food and could have saved some money had the server been a bit more accurate when describing the portion sizes. The drinks were average and as everything else on the menu, pricey. The ambiance was nice, the music a bit loud, and a new one for us was the 3% employee benefit charge tacked on to provide employees with health benefits. Seems to me that a high end restaurant $$$$ could afford to provide benefits from the profits that undoubtedly make. read more
