Hands down probably one of the best in Wilmington, probably better than its neighbor Bardea. The ambience is set with the dime lighting and walking in you know you're somewhere elegant. I will say I took a star off for the steak, I've been to a few of the big ones in Philly and I'm not sure this place is up to par but it's good and the side dishes....omg phenomenal. I literally dream about the salad and carrots. Amazing flavors! The service is good, can be hit or miss depending on the day but I feel like that's anywhere in Wilmington. Overall, I recommend to those who haven't been or someone looking for a good meal in Wilmington. Don't skip those side dishes though! They are truly the stars of the show. read more

The experience did not match the hype. Everything is ala carte, which is fine if the presentation, service and quality of the food all match. The drinks including a glass of wine and martini were good. The baked bread appetizer came with a frozen piece of butter. If you make a compound butter, it usually tastes better room temperature. 5 minutes after the bread arrived, the Caesar salad arrived. No salad plates were provided. Within 1-2 minutes after salad was delivered, the steaks arrived. I don't mind salad with my meal if it's part of the culture of the restaurant. However, at most steakhouses where I've been, the salad is a separate course served prior to the main course. The steaks ordered were the bone in strip and the filet. Both steaks were heavily over salted. We ordered the béarnaise sauce and the French onion butter as toppings, and both were unremarkable. The roasted potatoes side dish was delicious as was the salad. The ambiance of the restaurant is great. It's a shame the seasoning for the food and the presentation and timing of the food delivery aren't better controlled. read more

One of the most opulent meals I've had in a while. We had a $125 gift card, a birthday, and a bill I wasn't expected to foot which made for a good yelp review. We walked into the spot around 5:45PM. Not too busy at this point. A style reminiscent of fibbage 3 of jackbox set to a psychedelic beat. Appears to be popular among the 30-somethings. Well-dressed, young servers with a friendly work culture and dimly lit yellow light type of vibe. Service was appropriate and formal yet personable. We were given insight on the menu and were walked through all of the steak options. We started off with the drinks. Our server, Austin, suggested the lemon drop and espresso martinis were some of the best on this side of the Mississippi. You could taste no alcohol in either of these drinks. The lemon drop was sweet with strong lemon-head-esque flavors. The espresso martini might be mistaken for an espresso outside of this context. I had a boring old fashioned which tasted like a sweet citrusy bourbon. The drinks overall were tasty and I would not be reserved about ordering one but they can run the tab pretty quickly. The menu is divided into snacks, steak, sides, and other entrees. The snacks are a bite or two among a party of four. 2-3 sides and an entree will feed a party of 4-6. We started with some snacks: the brioche buns, Swedish meatballs, and lamb gnocchi. The brioche buns had a soft chewy interior and a honey-glazed, lightly crispy exterior. They were served with a pad of butter that tasted like butter. This will come out sooner than your other snacks. It is advised to eat this with your saucier dishes but we couldn't wait that long. High value for your meal. We approached the lamb gnocchi next. There was half an ounce of braised lamb in a brown sauce over a home-made gnocchi in a pool of spiced broth. The braised lamb was melt in your mouth tender which paired nicely with the lightly chewy gnocchi. Almost a bite as satisfying as mochi although the texture was completely different. The curveball was the broth. If you've had Maggi noodles (an Indian instant noodle staple) it tastes almost exactly like this broth except maybe a bit thicker. This was a fun dish. We indulged in two sides: the house salad and the loaded potato. The house salad tasted like a creamy Caesar with crunchy bits. Good variety of greens textures. It's no roots natural kitchen but certainly goes well with the meats and starch you'll encounter at bardea. The loaded potatoes also paired well with the beef. I think the potato was simply sliced into 1/2 slices, breaded in panko, and deep fried. Similar in flavor to a McDonald's hash brown. A rich, smoky white sauce accompanied the potato slices as well as the green sauce which I don't really remember. We shared a delicious whole branzino as well. We were given the option to have the head attached or detached. My fave part is the head, eyes, and cheeks so detachment was not an option. It's mostly deboned but there are some bones so be careful. No sauce but there is intense flavors in the crispy skin. The Angus porterhouse was a steak. Well-cooked to medium rare. Seared well on the outside and perfectly medium rare on the interior. Some cartilaginous bites that I didn't mind bc I have a bad habit of swallowing food. The rare seared fatty bit were my favorite. I love beef and this was a real treat . I am a student and this meal was my significant other's family treating me to a luxurious meal. Bardea facilitated a phenomenal pseudo-formal time to dress up and hang out in a celebratory fashion. However, this meal was very expensive. The value of the experience was okay. We ended up paying around $70 per person. If you like steakhouses, this isn't so bad although I might suggest hitting up Trolley afterwards if you're trying to have a comprehensive Saturday night. read more

Tonight was my first time trying out Bardea Steak and I was not disappointed! We made a reservation online and were greeted upon arrival and our table was ready. (Quick note: making a reservation requires a deposit of $25 per person). The drinks took a while to come out. The cherry limeade was pretty good but weak. Our waiter gave us the rundown of the menu, which isn't very big but there were a lot of cuts of beef. My friend and I decided to get the following: shrimp cocktail, cheesesteak empanadas, the butcher's board, the chef's cut (short rib), bone marrow, and sides of Mac and cheese and the mushrooms. Everything was great but I wasn't a fan of the bone marrow because of the consistency. If you don't like jelly consistencies I would pass on that one. The meat was cooked to perfection and the mushrooms were fantastic as well. Overall, it was very good. Expect a pricey meal for the food and experience. Bardea Steak was a nice foodie experience. Not only was the quality of the food excellent, but the staff was friendly, and they had a wide selection of food. I order several items from their menu; next time I will get a steak. However, the branzino was incredible, nicely grilled and seasoned. Oysters were fresh. I definitely recommend trying the compost oysters; they were delicious. I order several appetizers before my main meal; it was nice that they came out one by one and not all at once. ` All the drinks ordered were great. I would come again just for the drinks. My favorite was the passion espresso. Wasn't a fan of the calamari, but everything else I would recommend over and over again. I am a huge Bardea fan! I think this is one set of restaurants that can compare to restaurants in Philadelphia. This is my second time at Bardea Steak and it was a great experience BUT not as good as the first time. I do like that they have Happy Hour which allows you to try a small portion of their menu. There is even one vegetarian option on there! This time around the cocktails were just okay. They had a fruity espresso cocktail that they bartender raved about... would not get again. I tried the empanadas and they were delicious but I also got a house salad which was a big portion but it truly lacked flavor and some parts were pink. Now this time the HH menu bit me based on technicality. Classic cocktails are considered part of happy hour which are not listed in the actual menu, only signature cocktails. It was a little back and forth because we didn't know we could reserve space for Happy Hour in the bar area; but you can do so via the reservation app or call. He got us water and then got our drinks for us and then came back to read off the menu and go over a few other things. We decided to go with the Aberdeen Angus in a New York strip cut and the Piedmonte's in a fillet cut. Both steaks were cooked perfectly and had the right amount of char on top. For sides, we opted for the mac & cheese and the broccoli di ciccio. The mac & cheese was absolutely amazing as was the broccoli. The broccoli had a nice kick to it from the chili, which I loved. We ended with dessert and both decided to get gelato. I got the chocolate banana and my partner got the tropical! Both delicious! This is definitely a place we plan to frequent again. While in Delaware, we made the foolish mistake of trying Barnes Steak! We sat with our group and eagerly awaited our server. After some time, he finally arrived at our table. After he explained the various items on the menu, he then very firmly stated "the chef wants all items ordered at the same time." He then walked away. Where did he go? As we waited and watched him pass and circle around the establishment, we noticed that he wasn't coming back. We then asked another server for more water. When our first server returned, he took our order. It took awhile for our food to arrive. As the night went on, he became more and more distant. How, the final straw was when he snapped at us for requesting an a birthday surprise for my daughter! Are you kidding me!! Why would you feel it was appropriate to yell at guests and children? The gnocchi were perfect little cloud pillows and the tikka masala lamb on top was so flavorful and well seasoned. For our mains, I had the Japanese Wagyu, which obviously lived up to its reputation of being buttery and beyond tender. My husband ordered the delmonico which was so flavorful and sumptuous with the guava bernaise on the side (a must get!). While the food was perfectly fine and we finished our dishes, it was not worth the very high price. Not to mention the portions were minuscule so it wasn't hard to clear our plates. A dining experience with beautiful decor. They easily accommodated 8 of us + a toddler with excellent timely service & much appreciated menu guidance. Started with a cocktail each and then got 2 bottles of wine to share with the table. Perfectly predicted what we should order to get the most out of the meats, sides, and desserts. Highly recommend the butchers flight if with 4 or more people as well as the lobster roll(my favorite), the burnt ends and the bao bun appetizer was the crowd favorites. The tasting for 150$ they couldn't do for our big party but the waiter did say it encompasses 90% of their menu and my husband and I will definitely be coming back to do that! Looking for great food, great service and a wonderful ambiance? Bardea Steak is the place for you then! We went here for the first time recently, attending a private event. What we first noticed was how clean and cozy the inside was, inclusive of a fireplace even. The staff was friendly and sat us right away. As appetizers (again we had the benefit of being at an event) they served vegetables with sunflower hummus, tomato pie, and elk meatballs. Honestly every single one was amazing. The hummus was super flavorful with a delicious hint of lime. The meatballs were melt in your mouth soft. The tomato pie was super thick. Next came the house salad with toasted almonds and cured egg. Again, just so tasty and a great combination of flavor. For the main course I had the picanha, which is a cut of steak from a Holstein that has a good amount of marbling, which means it was also juicy and flavorful. I really tried to savor it but it was just so good and I probably ate it too fast. My significant other had the filet which is a sirloin that comes from an Australian Wagyu. He also ate it pretty fast as it too was tender and juicy. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. As an added bonus, there were water containers on the table so we could refill our waters as we needed, which is a touch I always love (as I drink a lot of water). Then finally, as the grand finale, we had dessert, which I don't know what it was called but it was strawberry filled goodness. That's the only thing I actually took a picture of :) All in all, I'd love to go back. Yes, it is pricey, but it is an upscale restaurant and seems like it would be great for a date night, anniversary, birthday dinner or any time you just want to splurge. read more

Personally, I really was not a fan of the ostrich or the beef tartare, but I will say that the red cabbage, dates en nogada, and red snapper, along with the steak (of course) were some great choices. Our server was polite but we weren't really walked through any of the menu items- we only received recommendations because we asked for them. This plate was super delicious! Definitely worth trying if you're looking for something new. The bernaise is also delicious! But is an added cost on the side. The sides were super underwhelming. We got the loaded potato- one small potatoes cut into slices, served in a creamy sauce but had no flavor. The broccoli was also super disappointing. Even with a tomatoe crema, they tasted like they were scorched in the oven. The chocolate cake dessert was honestly the best part. The total wasn't bad- the wagyu was $44 and the other was around $55.
