We had been meaning to come here for a while and finally made it in. We were very underwhelmed which was surprising because this place is always packed. The place was almost empty, but they still had a few waiter/waitresses on, and it still took over 15 minutes for someone just to come to our table. The service was so incredibly slow. The place is very, very dated and dusty. I received a glass of water that had no ice in it. My meal came out, and the butter had a black fly in it - ended the meal for me. Posting as I was surprised by the negative reviews as this has not been my experience here. I had not been here in years but ended up meeting family at the bar for lunch and to watch the pats game. It's definitely a pub style restaurant with pub food, but they have an extensive menu. The bar was packed. Service was super slow and it took us a while to place our order. And when the servers came to our table they often got distracted and/or walked away before we finished our questions. Fortunately we were not in a rush. Food on the other hand was great! I had the burger which was a real burger (not a smash burger), it was cooked perfectly and came with delicious steak fries and a pickle, and was reasonably priced. Barber's Crossing was a place I have been meaning to try for a while. They have the most seafood in town relative to most of the other surrounding establishments. Service was good and it was a quiet environment on the Sunday night I went with my son. The booths were pretty nice and the high walls provide a more intimate atmosphere. Went here the other day, usually like the experience and the food. NOT On this day, experience TERRIBLE ..waiter brought our drinks, then never returned, got up to find him outside the kitchen and I said " Hi, you've brought us our drinks (there were four of us) and you never came back, we've been waiting about 15 minutes" ... Like WTH, he apologizes and says where are you sitting...I showed him and he said I didn't even know you were there. How is that you brought our drinks, lol, then says I'll be right over. We order, Lord have mercy waited an hour, ask him how much longer after our calamari and stuffed mushroom appetizers came out (these were very good I must add, but sauce for calamari was cold)... He says I don't know that's up to the kitchen I have no control over that, uhhmmmm ok. I get that in a literal sense. So prob 20 min later our 2 Chic Supreme and 2 burgers FINALLY come out, Chx Supreme was so thin and over cooked you could break it in half. One burger cooked perfect, my Husband's burger RAW...I mean Raw he cuts it in half to see and feels it cold in middle. Ok they'll cook us another one, mind you this is after an hour waiting to get our meals. Waiter takes it back to kitchen 10/15 minutes later here he comes back the with the SAME BURGER.....how do we know cause it's cut in half under a new bun, and now it's a briquette! Omg, were all disgusted, we get ahold of him we say sorry we're not paying for that. Pardon my words but the day out for lunch with my family was a total SHIT SHOW!!! Oh and wait for it waiiitttttiiinnnggg for the check now, so I get up and go near kitchen and see and hear the Manager giving our waiter a hard time about why we did not want the burger and why we didn't want to pay for it, I said excuse me are you talking about the burger ?? She says yes, I say it went from raw to a well done brick and it wasn't even a new burger.... She's like yes ok I know we're not charging you for that..... Can you stand it?! My husband and I went today for dinner, I ordered the grilled salmon with maple bourbon sauce and my husband fish and chips....well the salmon was burnt on one side, I don't mind a bit of char but that's was over the top. The fried fish..we thought wow it's a big piece, but then you cut into it and it's all coating very little fish. We've come several times over the years and the last few times have been a disappointment. It will be a very long time before we come back, if ever. Save your money. Well after many years I've seen enough. Service was slow but attentive. Third trip in a row my meat was not cooked as ordered. Always undercooked . Hadn't been in a number of years and after they did some expansion we decided to try again. Won't make that mistake again. Staff was thoroughly inattentive, I believe we saw our server a total of 5 times while we were seated. She was pleasant enough when she did come over to our table, but she was far too busy standing at tables with regulars and chatting than to waste time with us. Portion size for the pricing was also disappointing. The first indicator should have been when I saw on the menu that soda was $2.50 and they specified only 1 refill. We both decided on the fish and chips. My wife got the small portion and I got the large. I will say that the quality of the fish was very good. Great batter that was light and crispy although it was a little greasy but not terrible. But the size of the fish she received was a childs size portion at best for $11.99. And what I received for $15.99 wasn't even a complete fillet. We actually put the 2 pieces together and it made 1 complete piece of fish. We could have gone to either of the 2 other places in town and gotten better portions spend less money and received better service...and that's exactly what we're going to go back to doing in the future. read more

the food is adequate! went for the St patrick's corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef was excellent, tender and delicious. the carrots and potatoes were also good, who ever cut the cabbage left the entire center part in and it was inedible. there really is no excuse for that. couldn't even cut it with a sharp steak knife, never mind try to eat it. the server was ok. our biggest issue is this policy of 10% discount for cash! WTF! keep in mind you can not get separate checks, you can not use it for specials, you can not receive it unless you let them know up front, you can not use is for ANY specials ie, the daily ones that occur every week. this is ludicrous! either give the 10 percent discount or not. who ever heard of not being able to get separate checks for a party of FOUR! that would be TWO CHECKS! REALLY?? OH AND you can not use a gift card from the restaurant, to get the discount! isn't that like cash? it will be a long time before we go back and we have a gift card ! read more

Food and service was good. Not liking the 10% charge using your credit card. I have no problem or 2-3% to cover the fees but 10% is outrageous. You're now paying 30% more with tip. Won't be going back just for that reason. Plenty of other mom and pop restaurants I'd rather support. read more

The drinks are great: a must-do too! Thoroughly decent, crowd-pleasing standard American food. You don't come for gourmet modern cuisine; the menu is lengthy but almost entirely what you'd expect in comfort food. On Wednesday 9/28/2022 I brought a friend ( a nun ) to celebrate her 89th birthday ! She ordered the prime rib with kabobs, and, a glass of Pinot Grigio. For dessert she ordered the apple crisp. When we had finished she said, "I have eaten in a lot of restaurants over the years ( she frequently travels to Boston ) and I have to say, this is one of the best. A very good restaurant for seafood, though I haven't had anything disappointing here. Expect waits on the weekends. One secret...really good bbq beef ribs. I think they use the ribs they remove from their prime ribs and coat then with some bbq sauce. VERY meaty, very tender, and very generous portion...I wonder of there isn't more beef here than with the prime rib dinner! And my dog is happy when I bring leftovers home! Lol read more

Take out is a disaster at this place. Not sure what the dining in experience is like but we tried a second time for take out. They're just not set up for it. This last time we called ahead 30 mins before we got there. Showed up, 10 mins later they finally brought out our order which was missing an item. After being reassured it would be expedited ( a hot dog for a kid-simple order) we waited some more and then finally gave up and left. Got delivery from the pizza joint across the street. Barbers was one of my favorite restaurants for a good 20+ years. They have gone downhill bigtime over the past few years though. The last time I was in there (Leicester), the waitress dropped my lobster pie on the floor. Gave me my fries and walked away. 15 minutes later came back with another lobster pie, no new fries. LOL Last night we got take-out - husband waited 5 minutes while the waitress played on her phone with her back to him before her boss prompted her to wait on him. Food order was wrong. It was nice to find a place that makes fresh buffalo tender and oh My they where the best I have had in YEARS!!!! The atmosphere was pleasant and very welcoming. Had a fantastic waiter w a great sense of humor- laughed w us with all questions plus joined in. Honestly the best wait staff I have come across in so so long(Andrew - works there 4 nights a wk and travels from Worcester) The prices are good and everything our table ordered looked so good! From fish, need , chicken bigger and spaghetti! The app where wonderful and this is a great place for kids too! Crayons ;) always a plus! Pop corn on all table as you come in. We've been to Barber's twice in the past 3 weeks. Both times for fried clams. The first time we were given huge servings of clams. My wife had sweet potato fries and I had regular fries. Everything was excellent. Light, tasty breading. Fries were fantastic. We raved about the clams and the serving size to everyone. I intended to write a 4-star review. We went back last night and had the opposite experience. We each had exactly 9 fried clams on our plates. A ridiculously skimpy portion for $23, that was less than half of what we received last week. Also the server kept standing 6-8 feet away from our table while taking our order. COVID precautions are over and he wasn't wearing a mask anyway so not sure why he kept standing so far away. I informed him that I was very hard of hearing and he did nothing to make it easier for me to hear. My wife had to keep telling me what he was saying. Terrible service. Many times at Sterling location and always satisfied. Passing the Leicester location returning from apple orchard thought we would have dinner. Atmosphere is better than Sterling but food is not. WE both ordered 12 oz prime rib and salads. The salads came very quick . They unfortunately were made from mostly ends of the lettuce. My wife did not finish it. The Prime rib came shortly after. The rib was very fatty and was not hot, only warm. There was not much au- juice in the plate, Sterling provides plenty. Very disappointing experience, will not go there again. read more

Heard this is a populate place for locals. We went there on a Wednesday night. It was busy which was a good sign. fried calamari was light, not greasy, quite good. Buffalo wings were a bit too salty and strong for my taste buds. I ordered baked haddock with crab meat stuffing.
