Went with a friend to Puffin's for breakfast. Cute spot in Millbury out in the country suburbs. They had it decorated it so cute for Halloween and it had a very comfy feel. The waiter that seated us was so nice as well. My friend got the French Toast with eggs, hash browns, & sausage. I got the classic BLTA with a side of fries added. Everything was amazing. We noticed our food was a little burnt but I think its because there was a breakfast rush and everyone was so busy. Cute little diner with so many good eats and great people. Loved it. read more

Tried to give puffins another chance... the food was horrendous today. Veggie omelet was clearly a complete screw up and they knew it and served it up anyway- even though it says American it was filled with half cooked shredded mozzarella and it had hardly any veggies and then underneath we discovered the insides to a normal veggie omelette mixed with American cheeese... no in the omelette just in a pile under the sad excuse for omelette. It's like they messed up and realized at some point and rather than remake it just tossed the filling on the plate and covered it used the weird mozz omelette. Ordered eggs Irish as well and it was just a soggie mess with Barely cooked, oddly flavored corned beef mush. The worst part is this meal cost 50 bucks ( had a kids pancake with ham and two coffees and with the omelette and eggs Irish). With a 10$ tip cause we aren't those kind of people that take it out in the servers... it's was 60 bucks for two adults and toddler to eat really bad food. We just neeed to remember how crappy the food at this place is and not go there out of convenience ( it's right in town) read more

We just had the single worst breakfast experience we have ever had at Puffins in Millbury. Straight off our server didn't really seem very nice or approachable, but that wasn't as big of a deal as our food being absolutely disgusting. My fiancé has a dairy allergy, but apparently the kitchen pre-cooks their mushrooms and onions in butter every day. Ok, so no biggie, just cook them in oil right or not in butter, but no, the server came out because the kitchen made a big thing about it. Clearly inexperienced kitchen. Then we waited 40 minutes for a breakfast (all we ordered was bacon and eggs and an omelette while the older couple next to use who sat 15 minutes after we ordered already got their food. I had ordered 2 eggs scrambled , bacon, homefries and toast and an extra over easy egg. The over easy egg was cooked so poorly the server brought it out and told us "I told them overeasy, but this is what they did, do you want me to cook another one?". It was obliterated, I could not have replicated how overcooked this egg was. I said, um no, forget it, I just don't want the extra egg. Like, why did you bring it out if you knew it was cooked poorly. My scrambled eggs and bacon were residence inn quality and then the home fries were sooo gross, that is what is pictured. Cooked to where they were all just overcooked, dry, crunchy and tasting like oil and burnt. I didn't eat more than a bite. My fiancé got an omelette as mentioned and fruit on the side. The omelette along with the running theme of the day was on the overcooked side and the fruit was gross, not only not in season, but actually like potentially sitting around for days fruit. She also ordered avocado on the side since they were out of the side she wanted and could have and that never made it to her plate. Our waitress also never checked up on us once when it was clear we were waiting a well above average amount of time for our food and she never asked us how everything was. I would have told her had she asked, but sadly when I have this bad of an experience and it's given e blind eye I just had to write this review. To say that I will never be back is an understatement. Great menu, lots to choose from, the problem is inconsistently. Been there several times and have yet to have properly cooked bacon or home fries. It's very loud and parking is a nightmare. On our way from the Lizzie Borden House we stopped in for some breakfast & we got the last parking spot in their relatively small parking lot. Not being from the area I'm not sure you can park on the street if the lots full so that's potentially a problem those who run across that. We really enjoyed the Country theme as it also had a nice, welcoming atmosphere. We ordered the Tuna Melt w Clam Chowder & the Golden Eagle Breakfast. Our meals were served in short order & everything was fantastic. In fact the Tuna Melt was absolutely the best one I've ever had in my life. Our server, Tiana, did a great job of taking care of us & the prices are fair. Other than a somewhat bad parking situation everything about Puffins was first rate & we will gladly come back next time we find ourselves in Millbury. read more

The decor is so clean, fresh and light! It's not a large eatery, but it feels roomy and inviting inside. The service is friendly and attentive. The food is good and reasonably priced. Sometimes it's not consistent though. They seem to change the ingredients in certain dishes occasionally. For example, one day your salad has cheese in it, the next it doesn't. The pumpkin fluff on some of the breakfast items could be wonderful but it's not. It tastes like margarine with cinnamon mixed in. It would be so much better if it was made with cream cheese or real butter and brown sugar with pumpkins spice. We will be staying away from the pumpkin fluff! read more

Noon visit on a Friday mid January: First blush you notice that while the parking is limited it's well attended and accessible. Comfortable seating offering high tops, table and booth seating. Full bar with creative drink menu for those that want to indulge in a bit more. Service is on par with a place this size. Well lit, two separated dining areas offer a more relaxed atmosphere. Soup flight well priced. Clam chowder a broth soup as opposed to creamy with heavy vinegar tones and lots of potato. Chicken and rice with large pieces of carrot that overpowered any other additions. Chili is good solid chili leaning sweet and the Broccoli is hands down the best of the bunch. Hot. Creamy and satisfying. Son one had breakfast bowl and was really happy with it. Hollandaise sauce is absolutely made in house. Full and packed with fresh ingredients. Son two had French toast. A plentiful dish that seemed to envelope everything you'd want in a French toast: warmth, richness, creamy brioche that was well balanced. What a nice place. Will definitely make another stop in going to and fro from Western to Eastern Mass as it's easy to access from Pike and not too far off the beaten path! read more

Went with friends and we sat a talked a while. We felt very comfortable. Good food and company.

Just in this morning after several previous visits, this will be our last visit. We were sat quickly, after receiving our coffees and putting in our order. WE WERE asked to move to a booth to accommodate two larger parties, which we did without complaint. After moving to our new table we were ignored! We received our luke warm breakfasts, I had to request napkins and silverware, and this request was acknowledged with eye rolls and attitudes. We wanted waters and refills of coffee and tried to flag down many servers, but it felt like we were on a deserted island. Overlooked several times and given a one minute finger to placate our table. Once a server finally deemed ready to see us, we mentioned that we were trying to get service and that we had issues with some of our dishes and wanted waters - we asked for the check. This discussion was met with withering attitude, but the check was brought back quickly along with two waters in to go cups slammed on the table with spite and malice. We were nothing if not helpful to them looking for an enjoyable breakfast, and we were treated like annoyances. That's no way to run a service restaurant. Will not be returning. read more

Came here at 9 am on Sunday, got seated right away. It's been awhile since I came to puffins because of the slow service. My friend and I both ordered a drink at around 9:15 am. Decaffeinated coffee was so good. I liked it black coffee so I can taste the coffee even more. My friend had their special iced coffee with blueberries and oat milk. She liked it too. A little sweet though. Our waitress was super friendly and nice. We took a bit of time to decide what to get and we were in a rush. The order took probably 30 mins ish... we started eating at around 9:45 am. I guess if you have somewhere to be... get there early as possible. By 9:30 am, the whole restaurant was full even the bar seatings were occupied. The fruit toppings french toasts were very good. Fresh banana, strawberries seemed to have cooked in sugar. Light dusted with powdered sugar and I asked for honey instead of using the syrup. Hashbrown Patties side order comes with 2. So I shared with my friend. They were very good! My friend had the mushroom and cheese omelette with cinnamon raisin toasts. She really liked her breakfast too. By 10:15 there were a lot of ppl waiting in a line. Waited 45 minutes for undercooked meat and eggs and the dish didn't even come with the toppings that were mentioned on the menu. We sent the dish back to be cooked longer and to receive the toppings. Once it came back all the chef did was take the beef patty, smash it down, and break it up to be cooked more. He used the same eggs with my fork marks in it (maybe cooked longer?) and still no toppings... PLUS the toast was burnt and crumbled with every break. Best thing we ordered was the tuna melt and even that was only "okay" lol. clam chowder had zero salt or flavor and overall made me not want to come back to this place. read more

I would say that I must've gone on an off day for them. It was very quiet, yet it took almost 45 minutes to get a grilled chicken Caesar salad! It was kind of small for $15 and even with all the time it took to get it, they forgot the croutons and the Parmesan cheese. The other thing was that the sign outside said they have $10 weekday lunches. They don't. They do have a $10 BLT on the menu, but that's it. I will try it again for breakfast, since I think that's more of their specialty than lunch. The staff was very nice. read more

My review has more to do with value than it does with flavor of the food. While the food is OK and the service was quicker than we had expected given past experiences, the value is lacking. Eight dollars for two pancakes is pretty much robbery but not as bad as four and a half dollars for two breakfast sausages that they split in half to make it look like you're getting four! To be fair, the pancakes were pretty good but not at four bucks each. The sausages were/are a disgrace. The omelet was ok but no in any way, special. There are much better places to eat Breakfast in the area. Search them out or be ready to pay dearly for overpriced ordinary food. read more

It took a while to get someone to even come over should have been my first sign. Then it took just shy of 30 minutes to get food that was overdone. I got the steak and cheese that had almost no meat in it with fries that were burnt on the outside and cold in the center. My sister had an omelet that was just as dark as my fry with home fries that were overdone and dry. I had to call someone over while they were ALL on their phones to have them take my food as I was not going to eat it and I asked for it taken off the check. All I got for a response was Ok, no sorry, what is wrong, just "OK". The whole area in the bar areas was trashed. And the bathroom looked like it had a tornado go through it. Lastly, I emailed the restaurant on their website "contact us" with no response. I took my sister as she was visiting from Florida as they have always been good and the back areas and wait staff made it so I would never go again. read more

I've been to Puffin's twice, the decor is beautiful and they have a lovely seating area outside. The parking lot is awful and if all the spots are taken then it's almost impossible to turn around to leave. The two servers I've had were incredibly nice and prompt when taking our orders. But, we waited almost 30 minutes to get our order the first time, and almost 45 minutes the second time. The food is okay. It's not really anything special. My partner was happy they had margaritas. It's does look aesthetically pleasing. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. read more

We stopped in for breakfast with family who lives in Grafton. They called ahead to see about reserving a table for our party. When we arrived we checked in and we were taken right to our reserved table. Once seated our server stopped by after about 5 minutes. We ordered our drinks and looked through the menu for what we all wanted to order for breakfast. When the server arrived with drinks we then ordered our meals. Between the time we ordered our food and the time the food was delivered, 40 minutes, we were never checked on. At least half of the table had empty drink glasses. I ordered a golden finch which was scrambled egg, sauteed onions, cheese, and a sauce. The sandwich tasted great and I would get it again. It is served in this tasty bread, yummy. When I ordered the sandwhich I totally didn't realize it didn't have meat on it. I think this sandwich would have been even better if it had some applewood bacon on it. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Only a couple of items were forgotten from either the server or the kitchen. The inside is very nice and fresh. Seems like it truly could be a great place but they need to work on training up the staff a little better and possibly getting some help in the kitchen. read more

My bf and I went New Years Day. Atmosphere is good. We've been there a few times. This time was awful. The waitress gave us attitude for no reason upon just coming to our table. We waited forever for our food which was sub par. It was like everything was microwaved with no flavor. We needed ketchup and syrup and waited again forever for our waitress to return to ask for some. She literally never came. It was 30 minutes and she walked by and my bf tried to say "hey" to her and she was within inches and she blatantly ignored him. Finally I got annoyed and 10 minutes later I saw another waitress and asked her for our check. It was awful. They got our pancake order wrong and no one ever checked on us. I hate wasting food even if it's terrible, but I didn't ask for a to go box bc I didn't want to wait another hour for that. I never make bad reviews either and my bf and I love trying places and rarely are ever upset with anything so for me to write this means it wa def bad. Brought my family of 6 in for a nice breakfast before my older kids flew home. Absolutely gross is the only way I can sum it up! I ordered the "Red Tailed Hawk" (3 eggs over homemade corned beef hash.) over medium eggs were well done to the point yolks were completely solid. But that wasn't the real issue. The problem was that the hash was spoiled. It was slimy and very noticeably rancid. I sent it back and I asked for French toast as a replacement and received 2 pieces of uncooked French toast. Literal slime! On top of that a manager couldn't even bother to come to our table so we dealt with a server who acted very much like he was stoned. Toast was not toasted, Sons egg Benedict the hollandaise had no lemon or seasoning it tasted like warm greasy mayonnaise. He didn't eat. My toddler spit out his bacon because it was literally burnt as were the home fries. Complete disgusting mess of a restaurant. read more

We ordered clam chowder bowl, baked Mediterranean Haddock and gorgonzola salad. We also got their cappuccino. Their Calm chowder is worth trying guys! One of my most favorite clam chowder around this area- so delicious! Their Haddock is butterry and comes with rice and a side of roasted veggies. Gorgonzola salad was nice had pecans tomatoes onions greens and cranberries served with balsamic dressing. Our server Shyanne was great and the service was very good. To begin, the food at this restaurant is stellar. We've been a couple of times for breakfast and our meals have been delicious. Two thumbs way up I had a weird experience here today with the waitress. Not a bad experience, but a weird one None of the breakfast plates had quite what I wanted so I decided to build an a-la-carte meal - the a-la-carte items are listed on the menu Half way thru ordering my meal, the waitress interrupted me and said, "oh so you want the Red Tailed Hawk." I did not want that. That meal has 3 eggs (I ordered 2) and comes with toast, which I did not want. It also comes with homemade hash, that I also did not want (I'm a canned hash girl, I just am okay?) She said well it'll be more expensive if you order a-la-carte. Which I was surprised by, because I ordered less food, and the canned hash is $3 less than the homemade in the a-la-carte section I told her I didn't want to order more than I could eat and I just wanted what I wanted The Red Tailed Hawk is a $15 meal that has 3 eggs, homemade hash, a choice of side, and toast I ordered 2 eggs, canned hash, and hash browns, and this meal also came to $15. Like what? This menu has a pricing issue. That is not the waitress' fault, of course. But it caused a strange interaction between us. In general, I prefer that the waitress just take my order. Because I am ordering what I want to eat, I'm not necessarily doing the math. And I shouldn't really have to do math to order breakfast.
