This is such a hidden gem in the Winter Park area! Located right next to Soseki, this sushi and sake bar is a bit hidden. The inside is intimate and vibey, and the service was incredible. Our server was attentive and so funny, and the bartender was extremely knowledgeable about different sakes, even brining over a few of her select choices. We started with oysters, and I don't even like oysters that much, but these were delicious. We also got the patatas bravas and the squash salad, both amazing. I ended my meal with the garlic shrimp noodles, that were seasoned perfectly and a great serving size. I will definitely be back!

Pros: Ambiance is great. It's a single room bar that has various seating styles, including the cool bar we got sat at. Service was very nice. Our server I think was the main bartender, so she knew a lot about where the sakes came from from my flight. Food was awesome. Pretty much Soseki quality, but in dishes that were more casual, for a very fun evening. Cons: No cons. A very fun and delicious evening. Tips: Get the caviar donut, get the chili garlic noodles, get any wings they may have, get the mochi cake. It's all good. But at the same time, skip any sushi rolls. They're good, but they're just so small for so much money. Your dollars are better spent elsewhere.

As a sibling spot to Soseki, Bar Kada, now on the Michelin guide, it's a welcome addition and an absolute must for sake lovers. You'll find a rotating selection of small plates and premium picks from overseas, all elevated by their house ponzu sauce. The space is small and intimate and the service is outstanding. Every employee was genuinely kind, attentive, and truly made the experience feel personal from start to finish. As we weren't very hungry on the occasion, we ended up ordering the 5-pieced dry-aged sashimi sampler and their Asian version of "patatas bravas" only, both delicious. The sashimi, which one would probably also find at Soseki, was phenomenal. Their sake selection is impressive, and one of the staff members personally came to our table to serve and share the history behind it. It felt like a mini TED Talk and I loved it! Bar Kada is the full package -- sake, ambiance, food, and service all on point.

We came tonight for the first time for magical dining. The entrance is in the back and easy to miss as it has a small interior. The staff was friendly and made great recommendations. The saki cocktails were tasty and had a beautiful presentation. Unfortunately, they were out of one of the appetizers, one of the entrees, and two of th desserts for magical dining but they would not provide substitutes. Fortunately, all the food we could get was amazing.amf came out very quickly. The portions are small but everything had great flavor and was a great deal at $40. We will definitely be back.

    Oysters - west coast

I visited Bar Kada on a Wednesday night around 6:30. We had a reservation, and we were seated immediately, but we were waiting on one more so we enjoyed some of their puffed chickpea snacks. Unfortunately, they were already out of their buck a shuck oysters, but we did order a dozen of their regular oysters. I ordered the patatas bravas, pork skewers, and a bluefin toro set. The patatas bravas were really interesting, and I really liked them. The pork skewers were amazing, I could absolutely live on them. The bluefin set was . . . Fine. The fish was good quality, but none of the components had different seasoning so it was extremely one note. I'm used to seito's sets where each type of sushi has a different seasoning or sauce or component on it, so I was a little disappointed. I also got a sake flight which was awesome. Our bartender selected the sakes based on what food I was getting throughout the meal which was amazing. The last thing to come out was the oysters. They were great, but west coast oysters are delicate in flavor and the ponzu was just a little much for me. I would've loved some fresh wasabi or something else with it. For dessert I got the popcorn ice cream. I'm allergic to blueberries, so they served it with a peach consume which was really nice of them to prepare for me! The portion was depressingly small though. The ice cream was amazing, but it was half melted by the time I started eating it'd and there was too much pound cake for it. I wish I'd had a lot more ice cream to be honest. I liked Bar Kada enough, but I was unimpressed overall. It felt overpriced, and I don't think that the servings are big enough. The service was also a bit of a let down. Our server put in 2 of the potatoes and forgot the oysters, so we didn't get them until the end and you really want those before anything else. It was weird to follow all that warm food with something cold and refreshing and briny right before dessert. She also seemed overwhelmed in general, which I totally understand. The bartender was awesome though. I'd be more likely to come here just for sake than for food, and I definitely wouldn't expect a full meal here again.

Such a great experience and I can't wait to come back to try more. I had wanted to come in on a Wednesday because I saw from their website that they have dollar oysters on Wed. until they run out. I called for clarification and the gentleman on the phone was very helpful and knowledgeable and also told me they do the same deal on Sundays. Me and a group of friends (5 of us) came in on Sunday to enjoy their special. From looking at their menu I noticed that they also do happy hour from 5-6. The only food item on the happy hour menu is the oysters. On any other day during happy hour the oysters are $2 though, not $1. Our waiter Eric was very knowledgeable and helpful in deciding what to order. We tasted a lot of menu items and the cavier donuts were a table fav! I do think that the Bluefin torro set was way over priced for what you got. It was $52 for 8 pieces, when the smaller sets of tuna maki come with 4 pieces and are only $15. There was a little mixup with our receipts at checkout, but Renae sorted it for us so that was much appreciated. As a whole the staff, great food, and awesome specials on food/drink will keep us coming back. Can't wait to also try the sister restaurant soseiki!

    New Year's Eve menu (AMAZING!)

The best sake, yummy bites, and amazing people. I think one of the main reasons I keep coming back is because of the wonderful vibe and service. Emika will remember what you like and make great recommendations. She is very knowledgeable. She also has a way of making people feel special. For the best experience I recommend sitting at the bar as opposed to a table. I am still reminiscing about the amazing food they served for New Year's Eve! It was a special prix fixe menu. Make sure to take advantage of those special events at Bar Kada. Their weekly oyster specials are really good and such a steal. Their ponzu sauce with the oysters hits the spot!

Had the 5 course meal with drink package (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) The non-alcoholic package was actually so worth it and the presentation for the drinks was very well thought out. Food was amazing, pacing was great, server helped add to the experience with lots of mini history details. Overall ambiance is nice, quaint.

I took my partner here for his birthday and it was nothing short of amazing. The space is intimate, dimly lit and minimally decorated. The customer service was personable and the food was immaculate. My favorites were the caviar donuts and the wagyu, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. It was a little costly but it's worth it because the experience is truly top tier. One of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. 10/10!

We had the 5-course prix fixe menu last night and LOVED the experience. The setting is really laid back and intimate. Their dishes are creatively executed from artistry to flavor profiles. My husband loved the sake and wine selection, a friend at the table tried the sparkling green tea and I loved the hot hibiscus rose tea. We would definitely go back..

Came excited to check out Bar Kada, which is a 30-seat sake lounge with food from the team behind Soseki! I ordered the Tamago Sarada, Sashimi, Wagyu Tartare, Tuna Au Poivre, Dumpling, A5 Wagyu Spinelis, and Vietnamese Wings! The good: The ambiance, service, and food were amazing, and definitely lived up to the reputation stemmed from Soseki. My favorite dishes of the evening were the Tamago Sarada, Dumpling, and A5 Wagyu Spinelis. But honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the selections since all of the dishes were tasteful and beautifully presented. The Tamago Sarada was absolutely delicious, with the cold tamago flavor mixed with a potato-like texture. The Sashimi tasted absolutely fresh, and the sauce tasted absolutely amazing. The Wagyu Tartare has a strong sesame flavor to it, but goes really well with the sourdough bread. The Tuna Au Poivre is extremely tender, and it has bold flavors. The Dumpling was definitely one of the top favorites, where it was creamy and soft, and delicious. The A5 Wagyu Spinelis is not listed on the menu, but the server brought it up as tonight's special. It requires a 3-ounce minimum order, which costs $80. This literally melts in your mouth as soon as you try to take a bite! Last, but not least, the Vietnamese Wings were fried to perfection with a delicious crispy crunch in each bite, and the fish sauce and garlic is very potent in this flavor! The bad: Nothing at all in regards to the food! I did order the Bla and Lyserod Sparkling Teas, but personally, I just was not a fan of either of the Sparkling Tea flavors.

    Appetizer

Every bit of food was full of flavor.. Every sauce was a new flavor with a perfect blend of taste but not overpowering. We ordered six dishes total and each had a delicious and unique flavor Vanessa was our server and was one of the best servers I have ever had. I grew up in the food industry and would say in all my years, she gave the best experience. The ambiance is small and interment. Not overcrowded. Good house music but a quiet ambiance. I would highly recommend this place! Must try

Bar Kada - we were invited to their grand opening, and ribbon cutting (too early to get there). I had been there before and it was exceptional. I posted a review previously. We had all the A listers there - Chef Mike, his wife / co-owner, Jill and sommelier extraordinaire, Ben. It was one of the places my husband wanted to try for his birthday (month) and he loved it as much as I did. They even wrote him a lovely birthday card from the entire staff. If you haven't been there, it's a romantic, dim lit chic environment - elevated casual. It has exceptional high end service just like Soseki next door, but for a fraction of the price. This month they have their happy hour on a few bites, sake flights (one listed but they will do another for you), beers and wine. And, Bite 30!! It takes a little strategizing but you can really max out eating most the entire menu. We saved $100 with Bite 30 and HH. We opted for all of the above after we had our fabulous complimentary grand opening champagne - the real stuff, not just bubbly wine lol. We had 2 Bite 30 meals and some additional apps to cover the entire menu - some HH, some not. They have a secret waygu upgrade for one of the apps - do that for the love of God!!! Wow. Here's what we had: Apps: Vietnamese wings - dang, these are good. They are competing heavily with my fave, Domu, for top spot. They are so flavorful without being too heavy. Sashimi - we got 2 orders of this because there was NO way I was sharing. This is my favorite dish on their menu. So incredibly fresh and I absolutely love the light marinade / sauce. Wagyu Tartare - I was so glad they did an upgrade for this because is a pricier dish that I didn't want to take a chance on as I've had unfavorable tartar in the past. It comes with toast which I liked a lot but my husband just dug in, no bread needed. It was so tender and flavorful. We would absolutely get this again. What they consider entrees: Mushrooms - I love these and took half home (yum) because my husband isn't a fan of mushrooms. They are savory with explosive flavor. I am going to chop them up with my eggs tomorrow. Mussels - these were AMAZING. The sauce was so good and the baby bread crumbs. Yum. Dumplings - these were much better than the first time I had them. I think something was missing in the toppings previously. This time, I completely understand why these are wildly popular. Really delicious. And, it feels like you are eating slightly healthier with all the veggie goodness. Desserts: There are small but tasty delights. The ice cream was recommended and it was nice but we loved the coconut pudding. And, funny thing, we are not coconut fans. It had several flavors all built into this small dish. This was the perfect amount of food for 2 hungry folks, and I'd repeat this all again for sure!!! We had the opportunity to get to know Jill and Chef Mike better which was great. And, Jill took a wonderful selfie of us! They even have a restaurant in NYC! And, they are taking over more space in their building to add a chic and unique pizza place. We also love their other establishment, Sushi Saint.

We dined in last night for my friend's 27th birthday and we were seated on the patio closest to the sidewalk. It started to rain at one point and the manager came over to us to let us know that if the rain picked up or started blowing in towards our table, they had a table available for us inside. The rain ended up stopping, and we were safe to stay outside! We started off with the focaccia and it was nothing like I've ever tasted before. There was this purple Tasman sea salt on top and it was paired with an orange butter. It was hands-down, the best focaccia roll. I've ever put into my mouth. I almost ordered another, but I wanted to save room for dinner. My friend and I split the lobster flatbread and the flavors of the red peppers with the lobster and the special sour cream sauce was delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the Chapman meatballs. They were very flavorful, and it sat on a bed of lentils and a green salsa Verde, which I believe had avocado in it. I need the recipe to these meatballs! They were delicious! I took a few bites of the ahi tuna stack, as well as a few bites of the Involtini. The tuna had a slight spicy kick to it, but was very fresh and flavorful. The Involtini was AMAZING. I almost wish I ordered this as my entree. It had this citrus yogurt that paired really well with the egg eggplant and zucchini and curry. I will definitely be ordering this dish the next time I dine in here! Once it was time for dessert, Maddie informed us that she would be giving us a no bake cheesecake to try. We had also brought in a Bundt cake for my friend's birthday and Maddie provided us with small plates and a knife to cut the cake. The no bake cheesecake was delicious, however I forgot to snag a photo! The restaurant gave my friends happy birthday cards, with personally signed messages from the entire staff. I've never seen anything like it before. This was very special and intimate. Throughout the night, Maddie was very attentive, asking us how everything was tasting, consistently clearing our plates, and filling our waters. Towards the end of the evening, she found out that it was most of our first times there, and she sent us all home with complementary macaroons. I haven't had a dining experience this great in a really long time, so Maddie really made my friend's birthday extra special. Give Maddie her flowers because she deserves it!!!! During our visit we saw a Grammy nominated trombonist along with a great drummer, bass player, and keyboardist. The music was great and had everyone dancing in their seat, with even a few dancing in the aisles. The food was also excellent. I wasn't sure what to expect and didn't have super high expectations, but the food beat my expectations. We shared some calamari, a spicy sautéed shrimp appetizer, and crab cake. They were all very tasty. Everyone ordered something different as their entree. We were all pleased with our meals. I ordered the Steak Frites. The steak was tender and juicy, and the truffle Parmesan shoestring fries were perfect. For dessert we shared the bread pudding à la mode and a slice of carrot cake. That banana bread pudding was phenomenal and the carrot cake was also really good. Our server was also very nice and did a great job handling our larger group. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience, and I would recommend giving this place a visit.
