The cocktails I selected were not all that strong, but they were visually appealing. I absolutely loved the Buffalo Rock Shrimp. It had the perfect amount of spicy kick. We ordered an additional one since it was such a hit. The edamame is addictive. The only dish that fell flat for me was the Coco Roll. Nothing special really. Our server Lucy was hardworking and provided stellar service. She guided me to try their rośe sake, Amabuki, which was beautifully light, crisp and smooth. Lucy had us laughing and feeling good. We would love to be served by her again. This location is artistically styled inside with eye-catching Asian touches. Not only is it a good cause, but the food was sooooo good. I can't wait to go again. For the main course my sister and I both ordered the Roll and Nigiri combo, I got the Ceviche roll and the Hamachi Nigiri. I loved them both! My sister got the kissed by fire roll and Eel Nigiri. It's a colorful but lively atmosphere and a very open dining room. It was Friday night so it was packed and luckily our friends had reservations. We tried all the things!! There was a special on the menu of Yellowtail cheeks and they served with a little jalapeño and was so buttery and delicious. We also tried the gyoza dumplings and the spicy shrimp which I loved , think of like a bang bang style shrimp only spicier. Came on a Sunday craving sushi for my adventurous, foodie nephew's birthday not knowing it was their brunch hours, hence, a different menu. Fortunately, they still have their dinner menu you can order from. The hot items were not available though. Our server was prompt and friendly. From the outside, it's a very unassuming building and then you walk into a stunning ambience of tastefully, decorated booths, overhead lamps, and just the right amount of relaxation. Went here to celebrate my friends birthday and we decided to go for happy hour. It is only for an hour so we arrived right at 5pm. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful but I do think the service/food lacked. In my reservation I had put "corner spot if possible for privacy, it is my friend's birthday"... and when we got seated the server put us smack dab in the middle table against the wall in between two tables on either side. If you've been you'll understand- it's basically a long booth so people can literally be sitting right next to you essentially sharing the seat. Anyways- we got over it but it was a bit disappointing since I could clearly see empty and more private seating available. Next, we ordered the volcano roll, coco roll, ceviche roll and everything bagel roll. The fish didn't taste like it was imported from Japan unfortunately (as stated on website) it was very lackluster and the rolls themselves weren't wrapped very well. You can see in the picture the presentation of each roll. They were coming undone, different sizes, different amounts per roll. The best roll was the ceviche roll and our least favorite was the volcano roll. I didn't like the smoked salmon in the everything bagel roll either. The coco roll just tasted like straight coconut and nothing else. The drinks were okay. A lot of ice and a bit flavorless. As you can see in the pics, the drinks had a beautiful presentation but were lacking again. My advice would be to put as much effort into the food and service as you have into the interior. I also think happy hour could definitely be longer than an hour. Prices were good. Absolutely fabulous restaurant inside! Located in a strip mall, with black tinted windows from the outside, you would think it was nothing special! However, all the yelpers know to check Yelp out when in doubt! Food was delicious, great for a local spot. We arrived on New Year's Day for a nice dinner, and Eva was able to fit us in between her reservations. She was absolutely wonderful. Our server, Lucas, he was phenomenal with the kids and gave great recommendations! The facility was very nice and clean and I loved the decor inside. We will definitely be back again soon! I took one star off because I thought that the price point was decent but the rolls were fairly small. Also, the bread pudding was so tiny, it would even be too small for my child! I was shocked at how small the dessert was, you should probably order one each if you are going to share. It was so yummy! I will try the peanut butter one next time! This was my third time at Sushi Pop Oviedo, and I'd honestly rate it a 6/5 if I could. Every visit has been outstanding, but this one really showed how consistently excellent this place is. We started with the Edamame with sea salt (simple but fresh) and the Pork Gyoza, which were crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The Hamachi Zuke was flavorful and perfectly balanced. For sashimi, we had the Bluefin Otoro (incredibly buttery, melts in your mouth) and the Chef's Choice Premium Sashimi platter, which was stunning both in presentation and taste. We also tried the Curry No Hurry roll, which had a fun kick of spice, and the Volcano Roll, which was rich and satisfying. Honestly, everything we ordered came out beautifully plated and spot-on with flavor. Desserts were no afterthought here -- the P.M.S. (chocolate + peanut butter heaven) and the Carrot Cake Bread Pudding were both fantastic and the perfect finish to the meal. Service has been excellent every time I've visited -- friendly, attentive, and well-paced. The vibe is modern and lively without being overwhelming. No, it's not a new Soda, but it's still one of our favorite spots in Orlando. I'm not just talking about Sushi Spots, I'm talking about spots in general. After seeing a TV show about it years ago (Emeril's Florida), it's been a semi-regular spot for date nights, meeting friends and special occasions. It's better than Nobu if you ask me, and cheaper too if you ask anyone. Look at all the pics! Yum! I don't think I can visit without getting buffalo rock shrimp. It's almost always a must order. That blue cheese schmear on the plate is so good. And why is their celery WAY better than my celery? The also usually have some kind of tuna tasting which is always a winner. Put tuna belly in my belly please. What I really like about Sushi Pop is the menu changes regularly. Yes, they have their staples, but depending on what fish they get, you can get lucky with some amazing bites. Who doesn't love snapper cheeks and torched salmon belly and oysters from all over. (They're all about the belly). Also, you do get to sit and eat off of a table or the counter at the bar. I was happy to see they didn't have one of those naked ladies covered in sushi like you see at those rich parties at that house in Winter Park. Even if she is covered in plastic wrap, it's just awkward when you she yells after you take too many pictures. I've mentioned it before, but the Hit The Deck cocktail is my absolute favorite cocktail of all time. I order it extra spicy and it has the smokey mezcal taste balanced with sweet and sour with a nice throat burn finish. It's hard to try new cocktails when this is too good. One time I had an amazing Japanese Hefeweizen. Who knew the Japanese and Germans were in cahoots? They should team up more often! They started offering brunch on the weekends and pho on Mondays too. I will say the pho was pretty good, but I can't say I've had it more than a few times to determine Orlando's Pho King. I haven't made it to brunch yet but plan on it based on some pics and reviews from fellow Yelp cohorts. We've introduced several VIP Yelpers to this place too and they also enjoyed it! I'd put this slightly above Kabooki sushi, but both are pretty close. It's worth the trip to an unassuming strip mall in Oviedo for some of the best sushi in town. My friend loves this place so I tend to come here a lot with her. This is such a cute restaurant! The wait staff are really nice. There can be a bit of a wait sometimes depending on what time you come. We have tried quite a bit from their menu now. The fish here is really good quality and taste very fresh. However, I feel that a lot of the rolls all taste the same here. They all taste good but not very different. This isn't traditional sushi but a new twist on sushi which I can appreciate. I preferred just the nigiri by itself here and the good Japanese soy sauce. The drinks here aren't that great and I wouldn't order them here again. The Chocolate Peanut Molten Lava Cake w Salted Caramel Ice Cream was really good. They have a really well priced happy hour menu with different nigiri, sushi, and appetizers to try. We got a last minute reservation because of a cancellation and were happy to try this place. Drinks - we had some sake, an old fashioned (which was well made) and some cocktails which were good too. Food - while pricey this dinner was certainly a splurge it was delicious and fresh and our out of town guests from NYC were even impressed with the quality. The only comment is that tuna ahi was a bit over cooked. Of all the rolls I tried I was only truly ecstatic about one the rest were good but not something I'd crave. The fresh scallop and the sashimi items were excellent and probably what I'd come back for. The steak was good and the octopus and Brussel sprouts were delicious. I wish they made those Brussel sprouts as a seperate side of order a whole bunch. Also great news they have child friendly options either a breaded chicken cutlet or shrimp tempura with either white rice or buttered noodles. Kids enjoyed this as well as some. The inside is very fun, with two different rooms - one with bright graphics and the other more subdued with anime decor. We started with the Edamame with sautéed garlic which came out steaming hot and was delicious. Next came our sushi and we ordered several different rolls including the Gold Digger with Waygu and tempura lobster, Royal Treatment roll, Ceviche roll, Kissed by Fire roll and the Tonkushu Box. The Tonushu Box, instead of your standard 10 pieces of nigiri had 5 sets of two pieces of sushi that were exceptionally prepared and had different toppings. Everything was great and very tasty. We also got the P.M.S. and Yuzu Lemon Posset for dessert. The P.M.S. is a peanut butter chocolate lava cake with salted caramel ice cream and peanut butter dust -- so yummy! And the Yuzu Lemon Posset was a great contrast and was like a lemon custard. Late last year, I heard that the Sushi Pop right by my place was about to unveil a brunch starting on New Years Day. Everything about my personality and who I am knew that I had to be there on day one. So I made my reservations and joined the group of people lining up at the front door for them to open up and get started. Only half of the restaurant space was open, so a lot of people were seated at the bar, including me. I liked that. It made it seem a little more groupy, like a group brunch experience with all the other people in the room. Some people would probably hate that feeling, but I liked it in a weird way. As I browsing their extensive brunch menu, I was sipping on some Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I like my coffee cold and white and sweet, and this coffee satisfies all of that for me. Delicious. We ordered like four things and just went ham on all of it. I started off with the Hong Kong Style French Toast (milk bread stuffed with peanut butter, condensed milk, Saigon cinnamon whipped butter, candied pecans). Insanely good. The ooey gooey of peanut butter and condensed milk is unlike anything I've ever had. The plenty of candied pecans gave some crunch to all that soft. Just a banger of a dish. The Bao Benedict (crispy pork belly, bao buns, poached eggs, shiso hollandaise, arugula, black garlic home fries) was a little less of a banger. The pork belly could have been crispier, the bao buns absorbed a little more oil that I think they wanted them to, but the eggs were perfect, and the shiso hollandaise was very unique. A big swing on this dish. Then the thing I was looking forward to most, the Okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake filled with bacon, shrimp, cabbage, topped with okonomiyaki sauce, spicy mayo, nori, bonito flakes, scallions). Traditional Japanese meal that is very filling and dense. Accented well by the amazing amount of sauce and the fun little bonito flakes. I love this thing. We finished things off with a Tokushu Box (life is like a box of nigiri, you never know what you're gonna get! (10 pieces)). Five pairs of lovely nigiri with fresh fish that were all very different from each other, which I love. Nigiri of fish that are very similar to each other annoys me and makes me feel like an amateur, so this was nice. Overall, I gave this place five stars seven years ago, and here I am giving it five stars again. This place is great, and I'll definitely be back before seven more years pass. read more

Sushi Pop is the best sushi around! We really enjoy coming here for their happy hour deals, especially the late night one. Great deals on the drinks featuring an old fashioned option and saki-tinis. All of the servers are fantastic and great at making your night wonderful every time. I used to lean towards the hot items like their Korean fried chicken wings and the steak but sushipop is the reason I now enjoy sushi.
