How is this not the hottest spot in Orlando? I went an hour before closing, so I wasn't expecting anything super fresh, but everything tasted like they just hand made it. I had the teriyaki tofu which was perfectly coated in a light crispy shell, and the tofu was silky and melted in your mouth. The plate came out bubbling in a skillet. The ramen comes out in a massive cauldron! Also hot and ready. They have sriracha available if needed. The sushi was so fresh and flavorful. It was made by the sushi chef in house and visible to watch him make it. It was wrapped perfectly and everything came out fast. The portions were generous. The price is perfect for the proportion size and also the fact that everything tasted so good. Some dishes come with a side salad and miso as well. The waiter we had was apart of the family that owns the restaurant. I'm surprised it's a mom and pop place because it felt so rich and nice. This is my new go-to spot. Visiting the area from out of state and found this place as the appeal was that it had some similarities of our "go to" spot at home. Plus, the prices seemed to be fairly reasonable too. Only like 3 diners were there when we arrived (it was mid afternoon), so lots of open seating. We were able to sit at the bar. Greeted right way. Will say they have a very extensive menu. Decent selection of sushi & other types of dishes. Our server was pleasant. We started with their daily deal which was Crispy Tuna and edamame as well. Came out pretty quickly after we ordered. The Crispy Tuna was served not as we expected. It was more rice cakes (pancake style shape if you will) not what we are accustomed to which generally is a Square Musubi Press. They were good, but would have preferred them the way we generally order it. Edamame was tasty, but hard to mess that up. Rolls: they are pretty small to be honest and squeezed so tightly (with not enough of outer rice) they sat up high and didn't take on the plump desirable shape. When a sushi roll (maki) is rolled and pressed incorrectly with a bamboo mat, the cylindrical shape gets squished and inevitably turns into a aesthetic effect that looks off, which in my opinion shows here. Plus, very thinly sliced rolls. 4 rolls we ordered: Naruto Roll, it was refreshing & liked the cucumber in place of the seaweed wrap. Beauty & Beast Roll, came together well with the black tobiko & masago. Waterfall Roll was good, but would have liked some more heat (heaver on the jalapeños) and finally the Black Pearl Roll which was decent with the black tobiko on top! Throughout of dining experience the sushi chefs were preparing other dishes on the menu to fill orders, but also pleasant & engaging as we watched them make our orders and those others too. Leo and Micah were friendly, not so much the only female employee. She gave off some negative vibes. Never said a word to us & acted like we were not even there! Believe her role may have been in the kitchen, but she was out on the floor (for most of our time there) talking to Leo primarily. Kitchen cleanliness is key and by looking thru the open space (to the backs of sushi chefs) she really needed to focus more of her attention there instead of projecting conversations out front to the busy staff. Meaning that sanitation and environmental hygiene is a mandatory practice that needs constant attention & customers may observe or question those things when not tending to the task. I'm addressing this in the most important and nicest way possible! Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. Not the best sushi restaurant we've been to, but definitely sufficed for our craving. Ended our meal with their fried ice cream which was delicious. Note- Do not believe they have any happy hour specials. No Kizami Wasabi available here. I wouldn't order take out from the place if you are trying to eat within a 3 hours of ordering... literally had 3 rolls a couple soups and salad and we couldn't get out or food for over 2 1/2 hours. Called multiple times and they just said yeah we are working on it complete lies.... Go to Kiki or yuji to get your sushi if you live in this area... 4 stars for kind service! We got two rolls, salad and two soups as well as a kids hibachi. For some reason, the food took a lot longer than we expected and our kids were ready to go. This establishment is located near the 417 exit on Aloma. There is a parking lot available for all the shops there. I came here to meet up with a friend for lunch. The place is deceptively big with plenty of seating. The lunch specials they have are very reasonable and include a soup or salad. I ordered hot tea and the sashimi platter with a salad. The hot tea came with the cutest tea pot and cup and stayed hot throughout. The salad is what you'd expect and the ginger dressing was good. The platter was filling and as mentioned before reasonably priced for lunch. The plating was beautiful. While I didn't get any other rolls other than the California that came with the platter, I think next time I may just offer some rolls. The sushi was good but it didn't taste as fresh as I would have liked compared to some other sushi experiences. That being said, the service was quick and efficient and the person I ate lunch with really enjoyed the rolls she got. I've had Koi Sushi in my bookmarks for a while now and have finally had an opportunity to stop in for a bite. We arrived about an hour before closing time and were welcomed with open arms. It wasn't too busy so we were able to choose from several open tables. The restaurant is not too large but big enough to provide a relaxed dining experience. Our server Hayden was very friendly and was prompt with bringing our drinks. After placing our orders it took about 20 minutes for our meals to arrive. Nancy and I both ordered our own seaweed salad appetizer ($5.50 each). They provide the perfect quantity for the price too, no filler here. Nancy chose the Hollywood Roll ($5.95) and the Tampa Roll ($5.50), which were both delicious. I chose two of the higher priced rolls, the House Special ($13.50) and the Lover Tuna Roll ($10.95), which were excellent. If you don't mind spending the extra money, I recommend ordering at least one of the chefs special rolls; they are on point, especially the fried ones. We washed our meals down with an ice cold yuengling for only $4, not bad. Be sure to check in on Yelp when arriving, first time customers receive a 15% discount off their check, can't be at that deal!! I saved almost $8 on our dinner ;) Thank you Koi Management! We were in and out in less than an hour, pretty amazing with only one chef on duty and several other tables arriving after us. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn't live up to that first impression. The chicken teriyaki tasted more like plain boiled/stir fried chicken breast with a light sauce than actual teriyaki. The gyoza filling was pretty bland, and even the dipping sauce didn't help much. The California rolls were small and just okay, not much to say there. That said, the service was great. It's a little less formal than other spots, but the sushi was fresh and tasty, and the prices were great (insider tip: Check in on Yelp and you MIGHT get a 15% off to use!) The menu is huge! We came on Friday evening and it was pretty dead, surprisingly. But it was later in the evening and this area seems rather quiet. It's located in a little strip mall so parking was a breeze. We ordered squid, tuna, and smoked salmon sashimi. We also ordered the Sweet Heart Roll, Fire Island Roll, then decided we needed one last night cap and finished off with the Dynamite roll. Really tasty! Our waiter was very attentive and on top of his game! Friendly, too. I would definitely come back here, especially for a casual sushi lunch or dinner. The restaurant itself wasn't busy at all. Not sure why this hidden gem wasn't packed. The cucumber salad I ordered was quite the beautiful presentation (see picture). It was equally as delicious as it looked. My Krab Special Roll was pretty tasty too! A complaint would be that a majority of their rolls have cream cheese in them. I ordered a Chirashi bowl, which is a variety of sashimi, chosen by the chef, and arranged in a bowl over sushi rice. The fish was fresh and they give large pieces. I also ordered an Eel roll, which consists of eel, avocado, and cucumber. They add light eel sauce on top, which didn't overpower the roll. This roll tasted just as fresh as my chirashi bowl. We chose a comfortable booth to start our first experience, and were immediately greeted by our server, Mico who was extremely helpful and friendly. We started with our drinks sake and beer to enjoy while looking over the extensive menu. Since it was Happy Hour we chose the coconut shrimp and lobster rolls to start off. Both were enjoyable, especially the coconut shrimp roll. We were able to relax and look over the menu for out next choices. We chose Jade Dragon and Sunrise rolls to finish up our early dinner.
