We had an amazing experience at Hannibal's on the Square. Terra was a great server and the manager of the rest of the bar and restaurant was so caring he felt bad locals were paying 75$ to go 4 miles when it was a Sunday at 11pn and he lived by our house , not knowing us from Adam, he charged us 8.00, because he found locals being price gouged rediculous when we were charged 30$ to get there and had to wait till almost close because the Uber took 40 minutes to get to us and 20 minutes to drive us there. What a kind soul. Thank you, you will receive our business again, and might I mention the desert and cocktails were amazing and fair priced. Definitely a great last minute first date in years for my wife and I where everything was perfect! Thank you and much respect! We will be back frequently. Love love love this place! read more

Stopped at Hannibal's with friend for a glass of wine and a snack. We sat at the bar and were greeted by our server. Nice gentleman. It just so happened to be happy hour and they had a few bites on Happy Hour. I grabbed a glass of wine, my friend a beer and we decided on the Mini Beef Wellingtons. The drinks came and the app about 10ish mins later. My friend loved them and was raving on and on about the food and how we need to come back for dinner one night. I on the other hand wasnt very impressed with them. They were good but a bit grisly I only ate 2. Chez Vincent is one of Winter Park's most elegant and posh restaurants. It features a French menu complete with French waiters. But if you're looking for the same quality but in a more casual fashion just shuffle a few feet to the right and take a seat at Hannibal's. They offer the same chef but with a limited food selection and a bigger focus on spirits. It was somewhat confusing at first because we sat down thinking we were at Hannibal's and were given to menus bearing both names. But we realized that there system is similar to Cantina's and One Eyed Jack's on Wall Street. I didn't sample the crab cake that our table ordered but it came out solo on the dish with only a dressing of mango salsa. The consensus was that it was very enjoyable but possibly not worth its cost of $13. If two or three were on the plate then it might have been more worth it. I also didn't sample the bleu cheese burger that arrived next but the person who did exclaimed, " this is by far the best cheeseburger I've ever had." It was dressed with just lettuce and tomato on a toasted bun. Small jars of ketchup and mayonnaise arrived when she asked for them but it seemed good enough not to have added toppings. From my point of view and from what she stated, it was juicy, absolutely delicious and priced about right at $14 for such a gourmet sandwich. It was messy though so be careful and eat with caution. We were there more for the libations so I can say that they have an extensive menu to choose from. Catering to a population who must care about dieting, they have a complete list of drinks that can be considered low carb and low calorie. For instance, at $8 you can order a Vox & Diet Tonic that will only set you back 90 calories. But if you are in the mood to let loose and indulge, their special martinis are just what you're looking for. Their version of a Snicker's inspired drink even includes crushed peanuts along the rim of the glass. They also do a Vanilla Chai Martini for $12. Draft and bottled beers are generally $6 and their house white wine will also cost you $6. It's a cool place to go but being that it was a tad bit pricey it's not really the type of place I'd go on a regular basis. But if you are in the area and want to treat yourself, it fits the bill. read more

I'd never been to this place before and was very pleasantly surprised. The share a kitchen and chef with Chez Vincent next door and offer up relatively blue collar fare next to extraordinary menu offerings. I had the Ahi Tuna Burger and a Blue Point beer, which is from New Jersey and "toasted", the server told me. The burger was great - I like it rare - served on a white bun with tomato, onion, lettuce and a salad. Just a tad spicy, that burger - and a nice flavor and texture sensation. For appetizer, a spinach dip which was heavy on cheese and served piping hot. Very good, with just enough chips to make the dip last (verily encouraging huge gobbing chipfuls.) The room atmosphere was nice - Winter Park upscale with art on the walls, a marbly underlit bar and some mellow live music. Our friend, who was celebrating a birthday, has been coming to this place for three years and wanted to share it with us. We're glad she did. read more

Fellow Yelpers, Being in the mood for French cuisine for me is like waking up in the morning with a high libido; it happens every day. Therefore, this is one offer I seldom turn down and was more than pleased (all libido puns aside) to have been invited to dinner at this charming establishment that I have strolled past on sundry occasions, but never wandered in. From the outside looking in, Hannibal's is very reminiscent of an attractive little European, or more appropriately, French restaurant. It sort of architecturally reeks of pompousness and its interior is reflective of what could only be apropos for its type of cuisine; pretentious decor. Not to be misunderstood, these are two things which I thoroughly enjoy and it isn't at all in my opinion negative traits, but rather in accordance with my expectations hence my loving of it all. The restaurant is adjoined by Chez Vincent which its decor is a far cry from Hannibal's Lounge. It is analogous to having a [very clean] 1990s Kia dealership sharing a connected hotel room with a 2000s BMW dealership. I don't know about you, but that seemed like an accurate comparison at the time. The Lounge offers a beautiful bar that is inviting of great conversations and cocktails. However, since it is so far from the main drag at Park Avenue, it lacks a bit in human traffic which could be a plus for some. At first glance, it seemed like most of its clientele were return customers or friends of the Chef. The available seating ranges from regular chairs, to therapist like love chairs and interesting chairs that forces one to maintain good posture due to the lacking proximity of any back cushion. All extremely charming. So aside from expecting to have my order taken by a therapist while I lied down and vented my day's frustrations, we were greeted by a nice hostess who proceeded to tells us about the specials and hand us the cocktail and wine lists. Also, bread is served with a small variety of special butters that are made in house. Service was extremely prompt and courteous. No issues were had there, there were two gentlemen providing covers of famous 90s songs which was a nice surprise. Although at times it seemed to be a bit loud for the rather confined area of the restaurant, it was fine overall and actually entertaining. Right away glasses of wine were ordered and the mention of a foie gras appetizer immediately caught my attention. In other words, it was ordered in haste. It arrived beautifully set up (and in good timing) as it can be seen in my photo of it. The foie gras tasted great and the texture was very good as well, not extremely fatty either which was nice. Coupled with the apples and the reduction sauce it made for a marvelous intro to what came next. My main entrée was also another special, after mentally wrestling with wanting Venison, the Veal Chop was the clear winner when the tummy bell rang. It was a nice piece covered by a peppercorn cognac sauce accompanied by mashed potatoes and some vegetables (see my photo). Overall, a very great dish. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice romantic date or business dinner and drinks. Far away enough from the crowds on Park Avenue, it makes for a good place to actually chat without having to scream over other patrons and the bar is just so darn gorgeous that it's worth a visit. So make your way down and venture out of the main area of Winter Park and stroll down NE Ave. for a nice quiet and tastefully loud surprise! Au revoir! read more

What can I say about Hannibal's? Certainly nothing negative! I've dined at Hannibal's on multiple occasions for multiple reasons. The food is always top notch and the ambiance is great. Hannibal's is the lounge-like half of Chez Vincent. It boasts a nice bar setup and an intimate table setting. You'll be dining in pretty close quarters with others (the tables are close together) but that's never bothered me. On Friday and Saturday night Hannibal's has live music. I've actually been here several times to watch a friend sing. The food is fantastic! Great French cuisine. If you're a seafood lover like me, their fish entrees are delish and super fresh. Some of my favorites: the salmon with a raspberry sauce and the grouper provencale. A nice wine selection, too, and great cocktails. Hannibal's also has a wine cellar downstairs which I've had the privilege to dine in twice now - once for a Christmas party and again for a wedding rehearsal dinner. When you drop the dollars to rent that cellar out you definitely get what you pay for. Multiple courses of incredible food and non-stop awesome service. My wine glass was never empty. ;) Hannibal's is one of my favorite restaurants in Hannibal Square. I actually prefer it over its sister restaurant, Chez Vincent. The same awesome food but with a much more modern and trendy atmosphere. Great for date night, birthdays or whenever. :) read more

A cute upscale restaurant lounge. The first time we stumbled upon this place we experienced an awesome bartender with a cool mustache that made us a couple of cocktail creations on the fly. We also learned some history about how they got their start. Chez Vincent is the French inspired restaurant right next to Hannibal's. After the success of that business they extended and opened Hannibal's which is the "lounge" portion of the space. Same menu just a more prominent bar with some type of live music every night. Yesterday, we went back and tried the food while sitting on the Hannibal's side. It was delicious. We tried the mussels as a starter (sooo good), the filet, the rack of lamb and the duck. The sauces for each of those proteins was superb. Each had a different flavor profile that paired so well with its plated protein. Of course we tried a few more handcrafted cocktails that blew us away again. Chef Vincent came around and greeted us which was a pleasant touch too. We'll definitely be back. read more

I'm struggling with the star rating here. Should it be 2 stars or 3? I mean, the place is interesting. It looks pretty cool, and I remember thinking that I'd like to come back for a drink sometime and just sit at the bar. We were seated in the corner where there were two fancy highback chairs. They were so soft and spongy that we had to take the pillows (yes, they had pillows on them) and put them in position as a lumbar support. They also made reaching the table a bit awkward. Whatever, I'm an easy-going guy. The food is the most important part. The food was okay, although certainly nothing to write home about. And normally, if the food isn't offensive, that should be worth at least three stars I would think. Well, no. We decided to try the seared quail appetizer to start. I don't know what I expected, but for $11 we got a cooked bird the size of a petite woman's fist with a drizzle of raspberry sauce on it. The only thing keeping someone from just popping the whole thing into their mouth is the fact that it's mostly bones, and they might be expected to share with those in their party. But definitely because of the bones. Since we came for lunch, we didn't want the rack of lamb or the filet mignon or anything like that. For my lunch, I ordered the $17 (!) marinated steak sandwich. Turns out it was just that, a steak sandwich. It was neither particularly better nor worse than many of the steak sandwiches I've had. And yet, it cost as much as two of them anywhere else. Even after the $25 certificate, our two lunches and that little Mini-Me quail thing cost quite a bit more than they were worth. I think that's what seals the 2 stars for me. Word to the wise: You want to charge $17 for a sandwich, it had better be widely known and independently verified by some sandwich rating institution as the best sandwich in... let's say at least Orange County. Hannibal's is an elegant, enjoyable dining experience. The bar in particular is beautiful, with almost a mid-century modern look. Be sure you're not tired when you go though--if you get seated in the enormous plush chairs, you may feel the need to doze off... As for the food, it was consistently good. Not amazing--nothing blew me or my dining companion away--but everything was tasty and competently prepared. We tried the escargot (good texture...I didn't feel like I was gumming a piece of conch) and two fish dishes (snapper is recommended). The highlight was the dessert, which was a sort of upside down apple pie/tart that I think they call the Tart Tatine. Delicious! Service at the restaurant was also very good--personable but not annoying, attentive but again, not annoying. Our server was actually from France and shared some of the backstory on the restaurant. The bottom line: a good place if you want to dress up and eat some rich, well-prepared food. If you're on a budget, stick to the gorgeous bar! read more

Horrible service & business practices! Would not honor their own coupon even after they admitted they should because the coupon was not printed out. Even though the issuer (restaurants.com) said it did not have to be printed (they supply a confirmation number instead). Since the manager/owner was not there (apparently no one else could help me). I was advised to call him the next day. I did and he was not there. I tried the next day, he was not there again. The owner was suppose to call me back, that was 4 days ago, i have yet to hear from him. I loved Hannibal's before this incident and recommended this place as a hidden gem to many people. Absolute terrible! I'm never seen a filet minion that dry in my life. Fish was previously frozen and the vegetables looked like they were freeze dried. All the plates were burning hot because they just place the dishes under the warming station before serving, like at a gas station. I don't know how this place is in business! We were out celebrating a GNO and we walked into Hannibal's per my best friend's request. The place was pretty danged full, am not 100% sure there was not a private party going on or something since there was no announcement at the entrance but it seemed to be a bit of an organized deal happening. We made it to the bar and found a high end seat to plant the booty into while ordering a drink. She got one which was grapefruit influenced and quite bitter while mine was the second one down on their drink list of six that they had written out ($11). No idea on the name but it was tasty. The bartenders were quite attentive and good at getting the drinks quickly. My best friend was standing with her back to a group of dudes who started pushed her and one nearly elbowed our third companion on the head while he was trying to hug his friend. WTF. My boyfriend and I were looking for a romantic dinner and stumbled upon Hannibal's here on yelp -- the reviews were good, and we were drawn in by the extensive wine cellar and selection of exotic meats. My boyfriend had the filet mignon and I ordered the tenderloin... it was DELICIOUS. It was moist, flavorful, and very unique-tasting. The owner made his rounds, checking on the diners' experiences -- and I complimented him on the incredible meal. "Tenderloin of what, by the way?" I asked conversationally. "It didn't say on the menu." "Jerry." "What?" "Pork. Tenderloin of pork. I definitely said pork." I've got to say, the owner was incredibly charming -- he was able to identify the brand of my perfume from across the room! My boyfriend got a little jealous and made a couple of rude remarks, which I could tell the owner did not appreciate. But I must say that he was a complete gentleman to me, and a man of very refined tastes. "Come back as soon as you can," he purred in a Europeany accent. "It is always a pleasure to have new friends for dinner." All in all, it was a five-star experience. I moved here from NYC, arguably the world's biggest and baddest proving grounds for, well, just about anything. After a few months here, I found out that yelp actually exists now for Winter Park. What great news... so I started looking through it. And there they were; the usual suspects: Wine Room, Houston's, Red Light Red Light, Chez Vincent.. oh wait, and this is where I stopped. Well, there is Chez Vincent, where is Hannibal's? Oh wow, there is no Hannibal's on the list. And all the sudden, the urge to yelp returned. Vincent, from Chez Vincent recently acquired Hannibal's and all I can say is it deserves to be yelped about, wow typing that just makes me feel like a nerd.. hold on, let me not digress... I never got to try this place prior to the change in ownership, but from the lack of time that it was open (less than a year, sounds like NY), and no reviews of it on yelp, I am making an educated guess and saying that it wasn't very good. The place is cool, I enjoy it. The stuffed burgers are the best around, though a little on the greasy side (much better than dry, though, like somewhere else in WP). They have great jazz bands (what I've seen so far), you know, lounge jazz, with a singer, even some light blues, not Duke Ellington Big Bands or Ornette Coleman. The bartenders Matt and Andrew are quite different, but both very good once they get to know you. They have the ability to make spectacular drinks like the "deconstructed" bloody mary (which goes wonderfully with their eggs bene on Sundays). It's just pressed tomato juice (they do it in the morning) herbs, spices..anyway, its my favorite bloody mary in wp, Dexter's comes in a close second, but drastically different. Besides the floor squeaking each time our server walked over it, the ambiance was quaint and the decor was nice. We ordered escargot in a delious savory pastry for the appetizer so things were looking good so far..... I ordered the venison here since rarely have it. I figured I might as well since this is supposed to be fine dining. Huge mistake! The venison was old and dry! Sure, I should have known since NO ONE was eating inside something may be wrong but, I was already starving. How dissapointing! Don't waste your money!! Looks can be very deceiving! Beautiful place, great jazz trio makes a very pleasant place, but.... As soon as we stepped at the door, we saw that this place would be very disappointing... They just left us waiting for a long time until someone came and ask if we had a reservation. We reserved it trough Open Table but they could not find it. A very small table was offered to us right next to the jazz trio, but it was not ready to seat and we spent 10 more minutes waiting for them to clean the table. It was so small and uncomfortable that every time the bass player would move, he would hit my chair or the table (not his fault, it was just so tight). The onion soup looked like dirt water, no flavour and very thin. The grouper was ok, but the sauce tasted terrible. Rice and vegetables that came with it had no seasoning at all. The chocolate cake tasted like it came from a box. My husband ordered the bavaroise and it was simply awful! I really wonder how this kind of place manage to make money. I am rather shocked at the 5star reviews for this place. Maybe it's just as "Be All you Can Be" as it gets in Orlando. -1 Star - Puddle. Ok, so there is a big puddle RIGHT in front of the door and my elderly parents couldn't hop over it (um, neither could I in my heels) so they started their evening with wet feet. I mentioned it to a gentleman inside (not sure what he did... French accent and nice shirt but seemed to not do much). He said he would deal with it. Gee - my parents got to walk through it a second time! - 1 Star - Server's knowledge. I would expect that a server would know from where the more exotic cuts of meat are sourced. Venison, duck, buffalo - where are they from, whether they are fresh or frozen - this is not complex knowledge. Don't get me started about the other information that was not known offhand. + 1 Star - Server's pleasantness. She was nice. +1 Star / - 1 Star - Music. Here's the issue about the live music. The piano player was talented, surely, but it was a bit loud. On the other hand, my parents loved it and sang along to every word. - 1 Star - Gratuity. We paid partially with a restaurant.com voucher. On the voucher it says that a 18% gratuity will be automatically added (ok, sure). I got the bill and a 20% gratuity was added. Greedy, imo. + 1 Star - Decor. Thoughtful and attractive. The ceiling was especially lovely with ceiling fans interspersed and one large chandelier in the back corner. Paintings were attractive. TV over the bar was built in so to not be too obtrusive. Piano was a baby grand for the live music. Sofa seating was comfortable and luxe. I normally breeze over the food a bit, but I am going to be pretty particular here, because for the prices charged, some more thought needs to be put into execution of this cuisine. - 1 Star - Spinach Dip. Overheated. The edges were burned, the interior was so hot that the cheese had begun to separate. Served with tortilla chips that were not house made, even if they were, per the menu, organic - for $11. + 1 Star - Grouper Provençale. Mom liked it. It looked pretty tasty. $25 + 1 Star/ - 1 Star - Filet Mignon. Mom's bf liked it. However, I saw him having to use his knife to SAW through it. Filet Mignon should be more tender. Especially for $27 - 1 Star - Ahi Burger. So, why would you take perfectly excellent ahi tuna and GRIND it up, then coat it with 2mm of seasoning? And why would you serve it on a store-bought bun (slightly smashed on top, as though something had been stored on top of it on the shelf). And the side of cut potatoes, what the heck was up with the excessive seasoning on those? They were cooked to delightful perfection, crusty on the outside and flakey hot on the inside, but the seasoning was again uncontrolled and overwhelming. By the bye - when I was given ketchup on the side, I was dismayed that it was in a mini-Heinz bottle. Did no one else notice the cloth napkins, the tablecloths, the price-tags here? - 1 Star - Apple tartin. The dough was totally overworked and chewy. Which was too bad as the apple mixture was perfect. Oh, and store bought ice cream is poor enough, but to admit to it being Breyers was just cheap. My parents are older and enjoyed their experience, as they should, since I paid (thank heavens I had a restaurant.com certificate for $50 because the meal, with 1 wine, 1 beer and 2 matinis came out to $170 with the 20% gratuity that Hannibals added) and they got to sing along (quietly) to the oldies. My mom liked the decor and said she would come back for a drink at the bar. I would not return as the food was just not that great for a price that was far too high. A restaurant like this would never survive in LA, but it seems that Orlando has lower standards of excellence. read more

This is a great setting for a large group. I recently attended a holiday party of 18 people. We booked the wine cellar below & it was a great intimate setting. There was a set menu of a 3 course dinner. The menu is a bit pricey but the food was superb! I reduced two stars for parking & only having 1 restroom. read more

Expected a little more... They've catered well to our group of 20+ using the whole restaurant before. Location/parking is always key for our venues and Hannibal's gets an A for their weekends-only back lot and some street parking; saw a valet stand, which they may use in the evenings. It is also set in the quaint part of Winter Park's "Downtown" among the other outdoor/open window seating, which is perfect for warm weather lunch/dinners. Interior was classic and contemporary with large navy velvet couches - Love that idea with high back chairs too. One side of the restaurant is the bar side and tucked in the corner was a baby grand piano. Classy. I could see how this place would cater well to the evening guests. Being visually pleased, I was looking forward to the meal. Being a banquet-styled menu, I was really impressed with the choices and each one sounded amazing. First choice was either a cream of mushroom soup or the French onion. I picked the mushroom one of course. Pretty good, but the portion I got was significantly smaller than the others. The second course salad was nothing special since I don't really remember anything about it. I opted for the snapper with a nice cream sauce, a side of rice and vegetables - no complaints there. The best part was to come...so I thought. I ordered the crème brulè, just salivating since it is one of my fav desserts with a black Nathan's coffee, too. The portion of the brulee was more than the average ramekin. Bonus! However, mine was under cooked on top and the inside so it was more like a flan/egg pudding - bleh. The server was particular rushed and short with us. He didn't even get around to getting my coffee order or necessitate any of our table's requests. We had to either get up to order/ask or pull another passing server, who were ten times more accommodating. When coffee finally arrived, I was ways finished with my "brulee" and on top of that, it was less than lukewarm. I think they just microwaved my exist cup instead of replacing the coffee. Not the best experience, but maybe it was just me and my luck! Would like to check out them again and also, Chez Vincent (a joint restaurant) in a more dinner-like setting for a better experience. read more

It's kind of hard to explain, I was told it had a French Flair and it does to a point, but then there are the animal print design and elephant head mountings on the wall that make me think more "Elephant Bar". Strange mix, yet cool and elegant all at the same time! I loved the bar! Not only were the Bartenders amicable and "point on" with the drinks, but the bar itself was a sight to behold. I'm not sure what it's made of but it looks kind of like marble slate with a soft light that illuminates through it. It's a long bar too; holds lots of peeps. SO before I get into the food and drinks ... .I was here for a Yelp Elite function so we had a set menu in terms of food and cocktails, but the choices were PERFECT! Food! OK, so I honestly did not partake of any extravagant meals so that will have to wait for an updated review (perhaps after a Sunday Brunch), but I did enjoy some delicious appetizers that were a great pairing to the EG cocktails that were being spotlighted during my visit. I had a great bruscheta, very flavorful, a second bruscheta (I think) that was topped off with shrimp and added just the right YUM to the tasty treat and lastly, these mini-burgers that were cooked to perfection, juicy and beckoning me to go back for a second (which, of course, I did)! Mm-mm. I loved the food; what was supposed to be apps quickly became my dinner and the diet was right out the window! The cocktails .... OMG! I loved the Enlightened Grain Vodka. The Vodka is unique as it is infused with Lavender and Rosemary and just has such a great taste. Unlike most Vodkas, in my opinion, this one could be sipped straight and savored. There were a few drinks that were being served this night ... A CANARY DIAMOND, my absolute favorite. It was like a lemon drop with a punch! If you like a Dirty Martini ( I don't care for them) then you may have liked the TALK DIRTY TO ME. This one was described as "The savory oils of rosemary will coat your mouth when you sip this filthy little libation" ... Ooooh, even sounds dirty, huh? Lastly was the SPA TREATMENT and this really was a refreshing drink, kind of reminds me of a Mojito. The overall experience at Hannibal's was one that will ensure my return. The food and drinks were more than I could have hoped for, the atmosphere was fun and refreshing, elegant and somewhat bohemian all at the same time! There's a cool little private room down stairs too (no Elevator access though) but you can schedule private parties there and my guess is that the treatment would be AMAZING. On my first trip to Florida I checked out a few places and Hannibal's definitely has to be one of my favorites. Their drinks are amazing, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the crab cakes, escargot, french onion soup and duck as the entree and it was a very sad time when they were all gone. Each was better than the last and needless to say I'll be going back every time I'm back in Florida! read more

Food and service was great.. Little slow, but that is to be expected. Restroom was a huge dissapointment. Something you'd expect at a neighborhood pub or bar, not at a top dollar restaurant. Size and decor notwithstanding, cleanliness and condition of fixtures was horrendous. read more

This was a very disappointing experience. It was supposed to be a date night treat, on the patio, and we were told we would be able to hear the special musical guest from inside, over the outdoor speakers. We could not hear the music, there was nothing over the speakers, and the food was atrocious. We both ordered burgers and fries. The burger meat was old, chewy, and had an unpleasant odor. The fries were reminiscent of elementary school lunch room fries--limp, greasy, and an insult to good potatoes. They were at least seasoned with herbs, but the taste, texture, and presentation made them inedible. Neither of us ate more than a fry and a small bite of our burgers and we sent it all back. No one came out to speak to us about the food quality or the situation. We thankfully weren't charged for the meals, but paid full price for the wine. Hard to believe a chef is overseeing this quality of output, and willing to stake his name and reputation on it. We were initially excited to see a brunch menu, but after tasting the lackluster ingredients and experiencing the lame service, we won't go back to this place under any circumstances. read more

Like Jeff, this place is kind of hard to pick a valid rating. The food i would actually lean towards 2 star but style and decor 4....so guess what? 3 IT IS! The decor is cool, the bar is huge and light up marble. The tv in the mirror is bad ass. The chairs are really loungy stylee. I liked them, felt like a King waiting for his food. Ana, my better half, LOVED them. It did make eating a bit hunched over to reach the table. I am a fan of elephants, don't ask me why, i just like em. So the elephant heads on the wall were an interesting yet fun touch. The service was great. Ana loved Mr. Frenchy Frenchaccent McFrencherson. He was soooo dreamy. Not to be outdone, i pulled out my best british accent for much of the evening to regain my dominance over Frenchy(btw, guy was very imformative, super nice, can't really hate on him). Having real frenchmen at a french restaraunt was great. The food is my real issue. The mussel app in cream wine sauce was tasty. VERY small mussels though...no biggy(no pun intended). The escargot were awesome, very tender and garlicy, not even a tad rubbery. Well done. The lamb rack meal Ana had was ok, she asked for it close to medium, but her first piece was quite rare. The rest was cooked pretty good. I had the degustation from the sea. So it was 5 different kinds of fish, with 5 unique sauces. Amazing right?! Wrong. It just wasn't very good. Only ONE of the 5 did i say, this is good, i like it. The rest was more of me forcing myself to eat it then really enjoy it. It was like being at a relatives house, and the foods not that good, but you know they worked their butts off to make it, so you try to eat the whole thing. and for $32 bucks for it, i left the place totally empty and emotionless. It has been a LONG time since i ordered fish at a restaurant, and unfortunately now its going to be a REAL long time before i do again. Go for app and drinks if you have the cash to blow. Otherwise might want to find yourself a different elephant themed eatery. read more

This is a very nice location but I will never return due to their terrible customer service at the bar. After spending the evening on New England Ave, I never thought I would meet a bar tender in Hannibal Square with such little regard for paying customers. If you should ever have an issue with your drink, don't think it will be received well here. In fact, the bartender I met Friday night actually told me and my friends that he did not care. This is not what I expect when I frequent this street. read more

We wanted to get a head on the Valentine's Day crowd so we went a day early. I don't believe there would have been a crowd on Valentine's Day either. We had a 6 PM reservation and had the restaurant to ourselves except for a couple ladies at the bar. I ordered the filet mignon and my wife ordered the duck. The description of the entrees did not contain anything but the meat or fish so we both ordered potatoes gratin. I requested that the sauce be on the side which was confirmed by the "waiter/bartender". Of course when it arrived it was on top of the filet and accompanied by veggies including cold mashed potatoes. So we paid an extra $14 for potatoes gratin. The filet was mediocre at best and was a huge disappointment. My wife enjoyed the duck, but the portion of duck would not even have made a healthy appetizer. It appears that the portions are allocated by Weight Watchers. Like Jeff we were seated int he corner with the fancy highback chairs. They would be suitable for drinking, but are not for eating. The night before I had 3 slices of Sicilian pizza for dinner at Valdianos and that was a far better dinner. read more
