The broken cage is across the street from my friends high-rise in downtown Orlando. We stopped in for a drink. It took a while for our drinks once we ordered and we started for two. Our server was friendly and made one heck of a cocktail. I ordered the Payne's Prairie with london dry gin, sage, nutmeg, honey, green chartreuse. The drink had hints of honey and spices. It was light and refreshing. The inside was pretty cool but dark. This would be a nice date spot. But we chose to sit outside as the temperature wasn't too bad. Did a few rounds of drinks before happy hour ended. All the drinks were pretty good. Loved the vibe of broken cage. I forgot how it was inside. You were also able to order food next door from rusteak if you want. They had magical dining going on as well. Great service and really good food & drinks! Our server Renee went above and beyond- she was so friendly and accommodating! She even made an off the menu drink for my husband and it was excellent! We stopped in after a jazz show at the Abbey across the street and saw it was still open (until 11pm) on a Sat evening. We had the shrimp fritters and wow! They were SO good!! One of the best appetizers we've ever had. And the sauce was perfection. We also shared the amazing pistachio bread pudding with white chocolate and ice cream. Totally amazing! So if you have decided that you want to visit Rusteak, visit the one in Thornton Park just to go next to it and visit Broken Cage. This little upscale bar is owned by Rusteak and is connected to it, but only located at the Thornton Park location. It is a very chill location with the only issue possibly being finding parking unless you pay at a garage not far from the location. Once inside be sure to take in all the nice decor and talk to the great bartenders. There is a happy hour which gives a nice discount to apps and signature cocktails. The cocktails are top notch and have very upscale combos which is nice. Then if you want food, with them being attached to Rusteak, you have access to their complete menu! They will of course bring and serve the food to you over at the Broken Cage side as well. I had a great experience here yesterday for brunch. There was no wait compared to all the other restaurants in the area that required reservations ahead of time. It's such a cute spot for brunch! Very great atmosphere. They have a full bar too. I ordered a sangria and it was made fresh! It was super tasty. For appetizer, we order the loaded potatoes which were AMAZING. I will continue dreaming about these potatoes! I ordered the Korean chicken and waffles, it came with egg and bacon and a spicy sauce that was so good. This place is on my list of spots to check out. It's always fairly empty, but the decor is so cute. It's hard not to visit. Was out on a date night and decided to try this place for some drinks to close out the evening. It is a smaller location with seating set ups, but we found a quiet table where we could relax and have our drinks. There was only one employee there who was bartending and serving. He was hustling, but there was not an service issues so props to him (and I didn't catch his name to mark it here since he was moving so fast). I ordered the Cool as a Cucumber (vodka, cucumber, lime liqueur, basil). It was the perfect refreshing drink to sip on while chatting on a quiet evening. I also tried the Daydreaming (gin, watermelon, lemon, and orange blossom). I really enjoyed this cocktail as well, but it was not as sweet as I thought it would have been (not a bad thing, but expected sweeter). I only did 4 stars since we did not try any of the food having eaten earlier in the evening so when we go back we will be sure to try some of the food and update to be more inclusive. We were greeted upon entry (very nice host and bartender), and you are able to sit wherever you chose. Although I didn't order any food, it looked tasty and was presented well. There's no valet parking, but street parking and the parking garage are near. It's a very small, quaint place; but I enjoyed seating outside and people watching. We had reservations at Rusteak but our table was still occupied & we didn't know how long it would take to free up so the hostesses recommended the Broken Cage which at first I was hesitant, but it was literally right next door connected just down the hall where they would serve different drinks but we'd still be able to order the exact same food served at Rusteak (apparently Rusteak is the sister restaurant of the Broken Cage and anyone can order from their full menu)....I gave it a try & never looking back. We immediately feel in love at first sight/bite/sip. The vibe is super chill, great decor, EXCELLENT mixed drinks crafted by very talented mixologists that you can taste take special care of their drinks and take pride in providing 100% satisfaction guaranteed. I tried the Espresso Martini (not on their menu), Gimme That, Rich B*tch and April Showers. Honestly can't wait to try everything. I'm sure they could create almost anything you ask. The food from Rusteak was also equally AMAZING and DELICIOUS. I'm not too big into fish especially when eating out for dinner but they got me at "grilled" and decided to try the "something to taco bout" - grilled mahi tacos (came with 2) with bistro fries - very flavorful and tasty (not fishy so you know it's fresh catch). This place is SO beautiful! It's located in Thornton Park, it's been many things throughout the years. The booths are so private and they have beautiful greenery hanging from the ceiling. This is definitely a great place for a date when you'd like some privacy. My friend and I met there before our dinner reservation next door at Rusteak. They have a great little happy hour menu, I opted for an Old Fashioned which was wonderfully made. Such a cool hidden gem in Thornton Park. We came here on a Sunday for brunch and were so happy we did. This bar is normally a speakeasy but they share the same menu as The Menagerie next door. There is limited seating so keep that in mind. We tried some of their popular appetizers like The Devil which is crispy deviled eggs and the zucchini cheddar biscuits. Both of them were delicious and full of flavor. My favorite was the deviled eggs. Brunch items we enjoyed were the lobster scramble, crab cake Benedict, and the brunch cake. The brunch cake is actually a quiche with croissants in it, thick and creamy it definitely was filling. The crab cake Benedict was creamy from the hollandaise sauce and crispy crab cakes. The lobster scramble is decadent for sure, creamy soft scrambled eggs with spinach and tomatoes served with some hollandaise sauce poured on top. All the dishes were served with breakfast potatoes.
