When I said We probably weren't going to eat cause we were dining across the street our waiter didn't make me feel guilty. In reality we ordered a couple items off the HH menu not certain what portions size we would have at dinner. Our waiter said they had a great relationship with Adana and he was excited for us to try their food. When my cousin found the drink she ordered wasn't quite to her liking the waiter didn't hesitate to say he'd have something else made instead, she was much happier with second drink. Stumbled (not literally) across this gem and decided to give it a try. OMG to die for! Ordered the brussel sprouts as an app and was expecting a small portion but not here! Very flavorful! Pepperoni pizza was excellent, light thin crust and tasty sauce! Rigatoni with sausage was excellent as well. I don't care for sausage but it was minced in the sauce and just melted in your mouth! The flavor was unreal. The brussel sprouts had hazelnuts, which is one of my favorite nuts so I was pleased with the combination. They were juicy and seasoned well. Margherita $18: A classic. Most days I would choose Parma over this, but this is good for when I don't feel like meat. Ricotta Gnocchi $14: I thought this was OK. The gnocchi were nice and chewy, but the sauce left more to be desired in terms of flavor. Spaghetti Meatballs $16: I was pretty full from the other items so didn't have too much of this. Not that memorable to me. The above was for 3 people and we took some pizza and spaghetti to go since we were all full. Already planning our trip back. Had such a great experience here tonight with the food, service and VALUE! The restaurant, despite being in the middle of cap hill, felt like a quaint hole in the wall where we were getting served by the owner and their family. They are running a special where you get a bottle of the house red or white, salad, pizza and pasta for $50. It sounds too good to be true which is how we felt the entire evening. The red wine was a medium bodied red on the slightly sweeter side but easy to drink. Loved the Caesar salad which was bigger than an appetizer or side salad portion. We also shared the burrata as an "add on" which was amazingly fresh with warm baked tomatoes and bread. The server gave us a recommendation on the pizza... the Parma which had arugula and prosciutto. It was savory and refreshing...some of the best pizza I've had. For pasta I would get the peperonata which is a rigatoni and sausage dish. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs (meatballs were amazing) but loved the overall taste of the rigatoni dish more (which our friends ordered and let us try). When I have asked for prosciutto added they have offered after the pizza is cooked or before. Of course after. We did also like the meatballs. They do have ricotta cheese in them but you can't taste it. This is good as I have a visceral reaction to the taste of ricotta. Such a surprising gem on the outskirts of Cap Hill! Came here with 3 friends on a Tuesday evening and we absolutely loved our meal and experience. The house red wine and torta fritta (fried dough) were wonderful starters. The brussel sprouts were the only mediocre item of the night - fine but under-salted and nothing special. For our entree, we split the Diavola pizza, ricotta gnocchi pasta, and the peperonata pasta, which were all incredible. We liked the pizza and gnocchi pasta the best (and it was also easily the best gnocchi I've ever tried). Music was also a surprising cherry on top. My group loved their playlist. The inside of the restaurant is small - maybe only 8 tables or so + bar seating, but it made for a cozy ambiance. A new favorite for sure! read more

This is a review specifically of Bar Cotto's happy hour. After running some errands on a Thursday afternoon on the hill, my partner and I dropped by as soon as they'd opened. We were the first ones in the door. The happy hour menu is extensive, and you can totally get a full meal (not just snacks) out of it. The drinks were good. She had a glass of wine. I had a beer. Hostess was awesome and friendly. We ordered the salumi board with the Italian fried dough and split a margarita pizza. The salumi board was great and the little bits of fried dough were too good. If those were available in a large quantity in the store, I'd probably die from eating too many. So fluffy and snackable. The pizza was good. Every one comes with red pepper flakes and mild chili oil. We put on some of both. Pizza was good, but not great. the crust was very robust and a little too dense for my liking, but everything was a solid very good. We finished it. The space is really nice and small. By the time we were served our pizza (maybe 6pm?) the place was full enough and had enough reservations that groups of two were being asked to wait while they checked their availability. I cannot CANNOT emphasize with enough enthusiasm how wonderful, fun, and special the staff at this location are, and the food is ah-mazing. We took my sister here for her birthday and it was a themed affair with a bunch of flamboyant 20-something pop star princesses. Many restaurant staff may have been overwhelmed with the "energy" of the group, but Brandon and Chris made it such a fun night. The service was fast and they were so gracious and never made us feel like we were imposing. I had the Campagna Pizza and it really hit the spot. All the food at our table looked amazing, and the portions were huge. I feel like whatever you order, it's enough for two people - especially the pastas. My only complaint is that the food took over 90min due to a mistake by our server forgetting to enter it. He never apologized for the wait or mistake and not once did any servers really check on us during our time there. The owner did reach out to apologize which I truly appreciate.
