LITERALLY THE BEST ICE CREAM IVE HAD IN CHICAGO! Love the outdoor seating and the area that it's located. The ice cream is so so creamy and the portion is pretty generous too. Can't wait to come back.

If you have not tried Baobing Bar stop what you are doing and go! My gf and went and tried this spot and it was exactly what we needed as well as anyone in the need of some soft serve with flavor! We got, The Mango and The Chili Crunch! Both of these were not like anything we have tried at any other place in the city! The mango was crisp and fresh! The Chili Crunch has some much flavor and the heat from the chili and the soft serve really went well with one another that you wanna keep having more it! Baobing Bar is a Chicagos Must have this summer!

The chili crunch ice cream was a rollercoaster of flavor and texture and emotions! I'd recommend it for anyone feeling adventurous. It's not exactly what I'd recommend if you're really craving ice cream because it's such a unique experience. Satisfying for your curiosity but not necessarily your sweet tooth since it's so savory! It's actually quite large so I'm glad I shared it with my partner. Definitely recommend sharing it with someone. The outdoor patio is so cute! Fun and interesting mural and cute lighting. Great spot to stop by on a summer evening to grab some dessert and catch up with a friend. I definitely want to come back to try their other unique ice cream!

Baobing Bar is a cocktail shop that is brought to you by Chef Izard, for all you Girl & The Goat fans. The menu includes various apps and shareables, soup, fried rice, noodles, entrees, sides, drinks, and desserts. A group of us came here for some post-dinner 'snacking', and we ordered: +the Peking Duck - served with mandarin pancakes, pickles, and garnishes - make sure you call in advance to reserve, as there are only a few available each each evening; we would have loved to have more of the crispy skin and offering more of the pancakes would have been nice +Jiaozi - filled with beef short ribs and bone marrow; this had an 'iron-y' taste to it +Xiao Long Bao - duck and goat soup dumplings; this was a little too gamey for my taste +Scallion Pancakes - served with shiitake slaw and hoisin sauce; we weren't fans of the slaw as it was too woody/vinegary +Crab Rangoon - served with charred pineapples; these were what I was the most excited for, but they came out soggy +Veggie Spring Rolls - with sesame horseradish aioli; the fillings made this super soggy and mushy +Duck & Goat Spring Rolls - with hot mustard and charred pineapples +Duck Hearts - wood-fried and served with a sesame horseradish aioli +Goat & Shrimp Shumai - prepared with XO sauce, shrimp, and fermented veggies +Duck Fried Rice - jasmine rice with peking duck, seasonal veggies, and a soft-boiled duck egg +Xi'an Goat Slap Noodles - prepared with cumin, Sichuan peppercorn, finger hot chili, and goat shoulder +Mapo Doufu - sichuan spicy tofu with veggies (you can also opt for pork) Service was just okay, and there are a handful of tables and chairs in their enclosed patio. Garage parking and limited metered street parking available. +gamey items +walk-up window options +patio available +garage and limited metered street parking available

This is the best dessert I've ever tried before! If you come here you have to get the chili crunch ice cream! It's so innovative and unique. It might sound weird at first but all the flavors go together so incredibly well. I like to get extra chili oil because it's not that spicy the flavor is just so good! Only downside is that they don't have these menu items all year round, I think you can check their Instagram for updates when it becomes available early summer. They also have a cute little outdoor patio which is so cute in the summer. It's a little hard to find at first because there's no door it's just a little order window on the side of the restaurant duck duck goat.

If you want a delicious and most unique ice cream experience you must come here. This place takes ice cream to a whole other level. With its unique flavors, decadent toppings, and fresh ingredients it's sure to be a show stopper. I dare you to try the chili oil Ice cream it's got all the textures and such a delightful mix of salty, savory, spice, refreshing, and sweet flavors You order at a window. Expect to wait 5-10 mins for them to make your treat. There is no indoor seating, but they do have a little outdoor area to sit and eat or you can take it to go. It's a pretty good portion so I suggest splitting it with 1-2 people (depending on how hungry you are)

Casual, takeout only spot with outdoor patio seating in the summer right around Duck, Duck, Goat. Came here upon the recommendation of the hostess stand at Duck, Duck Goat since there weren't available seatings for a group of 3 walk-in. It's primarily street food options that are packed up in to-go containers as well as cocktails (including pitchers). It's a good spot for big groups. Credit cards are accepted. You pay first and then an employee will bring out your order. The scallion pancakes were a solid choice and came in 6 pieces. The spicy lamb noodles were actually very spicy and had a good noodle texture. You'll definitely need some milk or water to ease the burn. They have dim sum options and Sichuan street food, so you'll have good variety.

Came for their summer opening party for ice cream. There was a line of people which is good for the restaurant and had some fun activations going. Came for a mango vanilla swirl cone but they were so busy I accidentally got rang up for a mango sundae, oh well. Was pretty filling and really enjoy the smoothness of the ice cream!

What a cute spot! Needed somewhere to grab a quick bite in Fulton Market and Bao Bing was perfect for that. Ordering to-go at the window was a breeze and the wait time was reasonable. We sat in the turf patio area and our food was brought out to us when it was ready. I ordered the Pork Bao Buns and was completely satisfied. They reminded me of Filipino Siopao- I loved how soft the steamed buns were and the meat was very flavorful!

Cute little take out spot. I only got ice cream but it was so unique. The flavors were really creative and different. They have a cute little seating area outside next to the order window but we took everything to go. Great spot to stop in and try some food!

Me and my friends got the blueberry frozen treat and it was one of the worst things I put in my mouth. The crispy rice treats they put on top were pretty good, but the flavor of the ice cream and the tart were not satisfying at all. The blueberry tart/froyo they put on top tastes so artificial. Also, the biggest disappointment was that it's labeled as "snow ice" in the menu description which was the whole reason why we ordered it. THIS IS NOT SNOW ICE! THIS IS ICE CREAM! Do better...

The chef's pitch is Baobing's desserts and snacks are influenced by Taiwanese culture I think. Being Taiwanese and having tried the Jiang bing thing and watermelon special, I would rather call this creative Asia influenced desserts. I'm not looking for authenticity but I just don't see Taiwan influence in the choice of ingredients and product's recipe/form. REGARDLESS, objectively, 5 stars from me because the creativity, flavors, textures from the Jiang bing thing alone were so amazing, interesting, and balanced in my mouth. The watermelon special, every part, also creative and tasty (and heavy). Nothing was too sweet. Ingredients worked in harmony with each other. For $8-$12, this is more like a gourmet snack shop to treat yourself to every now and then. Not a casual cheap place to drop by often.

This is Stephanie Izard's take out window on the side of Duck Duck Goat that used to be called Duck Duck To Go. The menu has changed and it's been rebranded as a stand that boasts Taiwanese inspired street food. It's take out only - there is a small counter on the side of the building (no chairs or stools) where you can park and eat if you'd like. Honestly, I felt like this was a bit of a weak effort at Taiwanese street food. A couple of points. - Bao Bing in Taiwan is shaved ice. It's a bit of a misnomer here because this stand does not serve shaved ice. They serve a lot of different types of ice cream sundaes. We got the mango ice which was basically a vanilla ice cream with coconut foam, bits of mango ice and chunks of fruit on the top. It was pretty light on the toppings, but it was otherwise a decent ice cream. However, it was not shaved ice. - They basically have two savory options - a beef wrap and a chicken wrap. Each of the wraps are wrapped in their version of a green onion pancake. The green onion pancake alone was pretty decent, but the wraps seemed to be... a random smattering of Asian flavors that did not seem to make too much sense to us. There was a lot of basil which was somewhat overwhelming. The chicken one was supposed to contain Yan Su Ji (popcorn chicken - a very traditional Taiwanese street food), but the chicken was regular fried chicken and it just tasted peppery - it did not have the Taiwanese flavor. The portion sizes were good though - the wraps were pretty large and filling. - Also one maybe nitpicky point - the Chinese words on the top of the building actually read "cua bing", which also means shaved ice, but really, shouldn't you use the real characters for "bao bing"? I hope they change this soon.

The taiwanese style popcorn chicken and pork cutlet were super juicy and tender with nicely crisp breading. Before that, I…read morechecked out a few eateries on the 4th floor of the Nordstrom building, but nothing really stood out, and honestly, none of them seemed very busy and the one restaurant Lao Sze Chuan was way too expensive, $30+ entrees were average and the place wasn't busy at all. So I decided to try Shang Noodle, which was tucked away on a side street off Grand Ave., just steps from Michigan Ave. It's across from the Nordstrom building, past Labriola's, down some steps and about a block away located on the south side of the street. As soon as I walked in, and I wasn't expecting this but the restaurant was extremely loud and nearly every seat was taken and everybody seemed to be enjoying themself, families, couples and groups. I figured that was a good sign and it signaled to me that the food was probably good! At first, the host wanted me to sit at the bar, which I politely declined because I don't usually sit at bars, also, I was there to eat, not pick up somebody! I noticed a small table open, pointed it out, and he kindly let me take it. No 'tude either! As far as my server goes, she was efficient, friendly, and very helpful with recommendations since it was my first visit and probably because I didn't look like the other customers who were more familiar with the cuisine. She suggested the pot stickers over the hot and sour soup, and the beef Chow Fun instead of chicken Chow Fun. The pot stickers were a little small, but crispy and very tasty. I also asked for some sweet and sour sauce on the side which I'm glad I did because it paired nicely with the pot stickers instead of that plain vinegar sauce they usually serve you. For my main dish, I ordered the char-grilled beef Chow Fun. The portion size was more than generous, and the char-grilled beef had a great umami flavor. A few of the rice noodles were a bit firm, likely undercooked, but overall though it was quite enjoyable. What I appreciated the most about Shang Noodle was the value. $18 for the beef Chow Fun and $9 for the pot stickers felt reasonable to me, considering it was on the dinner menu, the portion sizes were humongous and the restaurant was located on the Near North Side, which is usually quite pricey. I'll definitely be back, though next time I may try lunch instead, or go with friends of mine.
