It was secured and neatly packed. The sando came with sweet potato chips. I ate one half of the egg sandwich and one half of the tonkatsu before I had to take a break from all the bread. Both of the sando were delicious and tasty. I would agree to the other reviews, don't compare this to Japan, instead, think about how this business did a wonderful job incorporating egg salad into a sandwich! I enjoyed it as its own! I made the mistake of waiting 1-year of living walking distance to Sando Street to try it. The KFC Sando was incredible. Actually so full of flavor and the crispy. It had a wonderful glaze over the chicken and had the perfect amount of kick cooled by the cucumber and slaw. The Matcha Crème dessert was delicious but definitely enough to share with someone. We finally made it over to Sando Street after many months of driving past it! Our small group ordered a variety of appetizers, sandos, 1 rice bowl and the creme sandos. For the appetizers we had gyozas and popcorn chicken. Both were freshly cooked and hit the spot. Next up we have the spam and bulgogi sandos which were tasty and filling alongside the sweet potato chips. The katsu curry rice bowl also hit the spot and my daughter was full halfway thru. Last but not least we had the ube creme sandwhich. The strawberries were a perfect complement to the ube creme. Everything was delicious. We had a slight wait time but also had a large group of +5 in front of us. Our food was made to order so we appreciate the wait time with our food being hot. Absolutely loved the sandos at Sando Street. I came in only for the ube sando but ended up trying the Crispy Eggplant Sando as well and it did not disappoint. The flavours are really yum, dripping with a very tasty sauce, well cooked eggplant and some nice Japanese sweet potato chips on the side! The service was very quick--we got our orders shortly after ordering. In terms of the environment, there are a few tables, but the space is generally on the smaller side. I really enjoyed the KFC Sando; it was incredibly flavorful, and the texture of the fried chicken was so nice against the soft, pillowy bread. The chips that it came with were pretty forgettable, but the sandwich itself was delicious. The Ube Cream Sando was just okay. The ratio of cream to fruit was off, and the ube cream just became too much after some bites. Overall, it was nice to try them! Have been following this restaurant on socials for so long and had just finally got the chance to try it and let me tell u.. i havent stopped thinking aboht the bites since. Went to japan this year and have been craving a fruit sando ever since, and this genuiunely lived up to the flavor profiles, the soft bread, and the most ripe delicious strawberries. The tonkotsu sando was also just droooool. Get the curry sauce to dip the sando and chips in and its just all around 10/10. I love all of them, the Ube, Matcha, and Banana Crème are a great finish to a tasty meal! Suggest just a small group can dine in. Larger group should order carry out. Easy to go for your meal if you have left overs. Wish I could order the sandwiches as a catering party tray for my family party. I recommend this to all my family and friends! Cute sandwich shop in West Town area. The staff were so friendly and welcoming (definitely contributed to another star). The food came out at a reasonable time, however this is not your typical fast casual place. I love the concept of the Japanese/Hawaiian sandos and happy that this place tried to bring this to Chicago. I tried the bulgogi sando with the sweet potato chips and the popcorn chicken. I went there with a friend and we both ordered the tonkatsu sando. I also got an og tamago sando for take out. The tonkatsu was delicious and the house made chips paired well with them. I was hoping that the tamago would be more similar to egg salad sandwiches I had in Japan, but it was not as sweet or creamy; it was more egg-forward. (Which can be a good thing! It's just not what I prefer.) The bread used, though dense and still high quality, was not the Japanese milk bread I was expecting to bite into. I wanted something different and I've never had Japanese sandwiches before so to speak. Well they did not disappoint, especially the KFC. I placed an online order from here. Pickup process was smooth with very friendly service. We ordered their Tonkatsu sandwich as well as their KFC sandwich. The Tonkatsu came with a panko crusted pork tenderloin, cabbage, katsu sauce, mild aioli all in between a shokupan. A Japanese milk bread made locally in the suburbs. The pork tenderloin was very tender and flavorful. The cabbage and sauces complemented this sandwich perfectly. But to be honest, the highlight of this sandwich was probably the bread. It was very soft, but dense. Such a perfect bread. The KFC sandwich used the same bread and it came with a double friend chicken thigh, gochujang sauce, pickled cucumbers, and aioli slaw. The chicken was perfectly fried. It had a nice crispy bite to it and very tender and juicy on the inside. Overall a really delicious and filling meal.
