Egg on top and tonkatsu on the bottom
    Helen L.

I ordered on Uber Eats. Sando Street has been on my "to try" list for so long. My interest sparked even before I went to Japan. I think the only thing that stopped me before was the prices. Since I wanted to try the egg sando, tonkatsu, and the matcha strawberry.. my total was around $50+ for the three sandwiches. The packaging for the to go orders were done perfectly. It was secured and neatly packed. The sando came with sweet potato chips. I ate one half of the egg sandwich and one half of the tonkatsu before I had to take a break from all the bread. Both of the sando were delicious and tasty. I would agree to the other reviews, don't compare this to Japan, instead, think about how this business did a wonderful job incorporating egg salad into a sandwich! I enjoyed it as its own! The matcha strawberry was probably my favorite. I was looking forward to every bite of strawberry. I will say... eat the dessert one soon! Don't wait hours like I did.

Great spot for some solid, unique sandwiches! We tried the Bugogi and the KFC, and they were both a hit. I'd skip on the gyozas, they were just okay. Gentleman at the cash register was very kind and friendly. Smaller spot with about 8-10 tables.

I made the mistake of waiting 1-year of living walking distance to Sando Street to try it. The KFC Sando was incredible. Actually so full of flavor and the crispy. It had a wonderful glaze over the chicken and had the perfect amount of kick cooled by the cucumber and slaw. The Matcha Crème dessert was delicious but definitely enough to share with someone. I was worried it wouldn't be enough food, and I was pleasantly surprised with how full I was after. It was the perfect sized Sandwhich and meal. The vibe inside is calm, cool, and authentic. The staff, incredibly nice. He answered my questions, checked in on me and everyone else, was easy going. I will most definitely be back and I would recommend anyone try this place if you haven't. This is the type of place I could see showing up on the Michelin Guide.

KFC sandwich has a perfect size balance. Not too heavy, and not too little for those with an appetite. The chicken is crispy and juicy-- complimenting very well with their soft white bread. Get their KFC sandwich, you won't regret it.

This is a pretty small spot, so it's probably better for takeout, but we got lucky and snagged a table. Food came out quickly, about 15 minutes, which was a nice plus. We ordered the KFC sandwich, tonkatsu curry bowl, and the matcha strawberry sando. Hands down, the matcha strawberry sando was my favorite. The cream was light and not overly sweet, with just enough matcha flavor. The strawberry was nicely sweet, and the bread was super soft. Really well done. The KFC sandwich was my second favorite. The flavor was solid and the chicken was juicy, though I wish the breading had been crispier. The pickled cucumbers were a nice touch and helped cut through the heaviness. The sweet potato chips that come with it could use more seasoning. Unfortunately, the tonkatsu curry bowl was a miss for me. The pork cutlet was very thin, dry, and lacked seasoning. The curry itself was just okay but could use more spice, and the rice was a bit mushy.

We finally made it over to Sando Street after many months of driving past it! Our small group ordered a variety of appetizers, sandos, 1 rice bowl and the creme sandos. For the appetizers we had gyozas and popcorn chicken. Both were freshly cooked and hit the spot. Next up we have the spam and bulgogi sandos which were tasty and filling alongside the sweet potato chips. The katsu curry rice bowl also hit the spot and my daughter was full halfway thru. Last but not least we had the ube creme sandwhich. The strawberries were a perfect complement to the ube creme. Everything was delicious. We had a slight wait time but also had a large group of +5 in front of us. Our food was made to order so we appreciate the wait time with our food being hot. We will definitely be back again to try more of the menu!

Absolutely loved the sandos at Sando Street. I came in only for the ube sando but ended up trying the Crispy Eggplant Sando as well and it did not disappoint. The flavours are really yum, dripping with a very tasty sauce, well cooked eggplant and some nice Japanese sweet potato chips on the side! We also got the matcha strawberry latte and the cafe lemon tree mocha! Perfect drinks to go along with the food. The strawberries in the ube sando were so fresh!! And the creme was smooooth.

Sando Street has been on my list for a while, so I was so excited to give them a try on a Tuesday afternoon! We came around 1pm, and the store had a few other customers but no wait. The service was very quick--we got our orders shortly after ordering. In terms of the environment, there are a few tables, but the space is generally on the smaller side. It's definitely a casual vibe. We ordered the KFC Sando and Ube Cream Sando. I really enjoyed the KFC Sando; it was incredibly flavorful, and the texture of the fried chicken was so nice against the soft, pillowy bread. The chips that it came with were pretty forgettable, but the sandwich itself was delicious. The Ube Cream Sando was just okay. The ratio of cream to fruit was off, and the ube cream just became too much after some bites. Overall, it was nice to try them! I would be interested in trying their other savory menu items for sure.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was nice. This place is kept clean and after we ordered the food came out pretty quick. We got their tonkatsu with the Japanese curry dip and the musbi spam sando which was good. The dessert Sandi's was good but I would say the bread is a little dry and not fresh. It would have been good if it was fresh. Overall the place and cashier person was pretty nice.

Sando street is a cool little place with a couple of tables for dining in. I ordered online and picked my food up to go. The person who greeted me was nice and helpful. Both sandwiches were YUMMY!

I've been wanting to check this place out and see if it lived up to the hype and it didn't disappoint! I went with the Crispy Eggplant Sando, the KFC Sando and a dessert Sando to top it off! Just a simple sit down joint..just chill. The guys at the counter were friendly and took their time to answer all of my questions I had. Crispy Eggplant was a no brainer 10/10. The KFC was just a tad over sauced imo but still 10/10 worthy and the Ube Cream Strawberry Sando was a solid 8/10. They offer more than just Sando's too which is nice! And keep in mind I had all these Sandos as take out and they were even still great the next day!! I definitely can't wait to go back and dine in! New comfort place for me. I am don't overlook their Sweet potato chips...incredible!

Have been following this restaurant on socials for so long and had just finally got the chance to try it and let me tell u.. i havent stopped thinking aboht the bites since. Went to japan this year and have been craving a fruit sando ever since, and this genuiunely lived up to the flavor profiles, the soft bread, and the most ripe delicious strawberries. The tonkotsu sando was also just droooool. Get the curry sauce to dip the sando and chips in and its just all around 10/10. Ive sent these pics to so many people already to brag about it and i cannot wait to be back. Had a half of the strawberry sando left for dessert too a few hours later and hit just the same!!!!! Love love love

Great customer service!!! Quality of the food is fresh and tasty! The Bulgogi, KFC, and Tonkatsu is my go to for bowl or sandwich. For dessert, all the Fruit Sandos are amazing! I love all of them, the Ube, Matcha, and Banana Crème are a great finish to a tasty meal! Suggest just a small group can dine in. Larger group should order carry out. Easy to go for your meal if you have left overs. Wish I could order the sandwiches as a catering party tray for my family party. I recommend this to all my family and friends! One downside is just street parking, no parking lot. It would be hard to pick up quick carry out. No bathroom inside, but can use the fancy Hyatt Hotel bathroom next door.

They have won several awards for their sandwiches and are said to have the best Italian Beef in Chicago. With all this being said, this was certainly a must eat on my trip! Their menu consists of their famous Italian beef, along with Chicago dogs, burgers, sausage sandwiches, chicken, and fries. There is definitely something for everyone here. The inside is casual and reminiscent of a fast food eatery. Really liked the yellow accents throughout the restaurant. I will also note that it was extremely clean inside, which is always appreciated. Ordering is simple and they will call your ticket number when your food is ready. All the food is served made to order and very fresh and doesn't take too long to come out! I ordered the Regular Beef, wet, with both hot and spicy peppers per the workers suggestion. Ordering the sandwich wet simply means the bread is dunked in the gravy/aus jus. If you want the real deal, this is how you order it. The peppers are optional as well, but complete the sandwich. The sandwich consists of their famous Italian beef roasted and sliced, served on freshly baked French bread. I can see why this sandwich is so highly regarded. The Italian beef that is made in house each day is tender, flavorful, and just perfect! It isn't chewy or tough either. The sweet and spicy peppers paired nicely with the savory beef. And the fresh French bread covered in the gravy--phenomenal! The gravy adds a lot of flavor to the sandwich. You do have to eat it quickly, otherwise the bread will fall apart, oh but it is so worth it. I got fries with a side of cheese sauce to go with the sandwich. By far some of the best fries I've had. Not super crispy, but not soggy either, the texture was just right. They were salted perfectly and dipping them in their velvety cheese sauce was a treat! A regular sub is roughly 6 inches and quite filling. The sandwiches are stuffed with ample amounts of beef. The price is also excellent considering how much you get. Overall, I would say Al's Beef lived up to all its praise. My sandwich was very memorable and was like nothing I'd had before. Everything is so fresh, between their beef, bread, and fries, it is all made in house. This isn't just some fast food spot, it is an institution. I was impressed with everything I ordered, especially the fries. They take a lot of pride in what they serve. This is evident in their customer service. If you are visiting Chicago, don't think, just go--you won't regret it!

It's a little stop in place and they have a pretty small seating area, but I went on a day where it wasn't super crowded. Beef was pretty typical, I think I enjoyed the gravy seasoning more on this one over Portillo's, but I did like Portillo's spicy and sweet peppers a little bit better. I don't like my bread, saggy, so I was able to get the dipping gravy on the side. Service is pretty quick as it's just a small sit down place. It wasn't too loud, so you could have a conversation with the person next to you, but I imagine it would be much louder if you went on a Friday or Saturday night. I probably wouldn't stop in again but it's a nice place to go to. If you have people from out of town they don't wanna go to Portillo's.

We had a little bit of a wait before we were able to be seated, but not too bad. We were seated in the basement level of the restaurant, which had a small bar and intimate, dark lighting. The decor is very fun, patterned, and glitzy. Our server was super kind and attentive -- wish I remembered her name! We got a wide variety of menu items, but the stand outs for me were the meatballs, mozzarella sticks (some of the best I've ever had!!!), kale cesar salad, radiatore alla vodka pasta, tiramisu, and brown butter cake. The pizzas we ordered were all good, but I wished we tried the other style crust as I think I would've liked it more than tavern style. Wished the ricotta gnocchi, while it had a great texture, had more of a basil flavor. The green river sodas were a fun touch, as I don't see that often in the city!!! Definitely a great spot for a group outing such as a birthday, or a casual dinner. Would love to try lunch here, as well as the cocktail menu. Can't wait to come back!!!

It gets pretty busy on the weekend so I'd recommend going early or be prepared for a line. Ordered online the night before to take to a friend's for brunch. When I arrived to pick up my order, disappointingly, I was told that part of my order wasn't available because they hadn't been set aside in the morning. They offered to replace it with a different flavor and add a free schmear, but I'll admit I was super annoyed. I ended up getting some everything bagels to make some lox sandwiches with. Unfortunately the bagels were very mediocre (a step or 2 above a store bought bagel). I like my bagels chewy and moist, but these were dry and too fluffy for my taste. And weirdly enough, they were salty yet didn't have a very strong everything bagel flavor. To be fair, Chicago is severely lacking in good bagels, so not sure if I should fault Schneider's for that, or wherever they source their bagels from. Either way, I hope they get their online ordering system straightened out.
