This restaurant was amazing! The food tasted full of flavor The restaurant was fairly empty around 6pm. We came with a group of 5 people and were sat down quickly. The server checked up on us and made sure our food was made to our liking. Now for the food! 10/10 all of the dishes we ate!! Definitely recommend coming to this location for great authentic Asian. I stopped in for lunch with a friend today to celebrate her birthday! We have spectacular service!! The server was so nice and gave my friend a slice of cake to celebrate at the end. He was attentive and so kind. We each ordered the small bowl of beef noodle soup, I love the portion size. It was perfect for lunch. And we shared the pork scallion pancake dim sum. This was our first time here, as we had guests stay at the connected hotel. We came for a late lunch and it wasn't too busy. Service was average and the food... interesting. We walked by here before and it had smelt really good. However, this time we had completely different menus. We all ordered different things and everything came out at different times- which I understand in family serving sizes but these were Individual servings so it didn't make sense. Food wasn't great, the salt and pepper chicken were just chicken nuggets in a special coating. Flavor was fine but bland on their own. Asked for sauce or something. The hot and sour soup did not taste like hot and sour at all and the serving was small. The mapo tofu was not amazing.., nice serving size but tasted weird. The beef noodle soup was fine.. nothing special. The pork smelt strange and was really fatty. Overall disappointing and won't be back. read more

The interior is elegant and offers a comfortable space to enjoy some incredible dishes. Yes it's a beautiful restaurant. I highly recommend the soup dumplings. They offer four different choices. We loved the Xiao Long Bao Soup Dumplings. It's a Berkshire pork soup dumpling served with soy & vinegar dipping sauce and thinly sliced ginger. In fact, they use Berkshire pork in all their pork dishes. This is a juicy high quality pork. Honestly you do not see this kind of greet pork quality at many Asian restaurants. I love that Mei cares enough to serve a top quality meat. This makes me happy. I feel hard for the Szechuan Braised Beef Noodle Soup. It's a slow brased succulent beef shank that is combined with vine-ripened tomatoes in a rich, delicious, and savory broth. It's truly a meal in Itself. The broth was very flavorful and the beef was so tender. The beef literally melted in my mouth. I'm also a sucker for noodles and the noodles were so good. I love Mapo tofu but not every restaurant makes a good version. I found the Mapo tofu here to be in my top two dishes in Chicago. It features soft tofu sauteed with minced Berkshire pork and topped with chili oil & scallions. The spice level was so nice. Every bite was pure perfection. We love this new addition to the neighborhood. I love that I do not have to travel to Chinatown to enjoy a high quality, delicious, and authentic Asian meal. read more

Excellent food at an affordable price, especially at "evening social" (happy hour). We ordered two portions of the karragee fried chicken, scallion pancake, shrimp and squash soup dumplings, the pan fried noodles, an order of edamame, and three drinks, and even with a generous tip, it was less than $100. The food was hot, freshly prepared, and presented with care. Service was courteous and prompt, and the space itself was clean, crisply-designed, and welcoming. On to the food- my review will be simple. Pricey and small portions. We ordered the pork and scallion baos, wanton noodle, drunken chicken and seafood fried rice. Absolutely nothing stood out for me- the drunken chicken was salty and we ended up sending to back. The 5 baos were tiny and not stuffed, for 18 bucks. Wanton noodles were generic- something you could get anywhere. Seafood rice was a joke- the portion was 18 bucks was so small. We needed up after at Shang's since we were all still hungry. The Most AMAZING Asian food i have ever had. I have traveled the world and know Michelin resturants..and this should be one. Prices were outstanding. What a super find! The food is absolutely delicious, from variety of soup dumplings to the tender DongPo pork... authentic Chinese dish with Taiwan specialties. We also loved the flavorful SiChuan beef noodle, Wonton noodle soup and roast duck... oh not to mention the crispy sesame balls and black sesame rice balls for desserts! Yum!! Wish our stomach can stretch for more room, and can't wait to try the rest of menu next time! Lovely new restaurant several blocks from our hotel. We were immediately seated upon our arrival. There were three of us for dinner and we were all happy with our choices. We started with appetizers and the dumplings were delicious. I had the combination duck and pork dish which was so good. The duck was so moist and tender and the port came with a great barbecue sauce. My husband loved his walnut honey shrimp entree. Our friend is vegetarian and she ordered a vegetable dish that was overflowing with tasty vegetables. We would all order our entrees again. We were all too full to order dessert. Our waitress was attentive without hovering and we were able to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. We all three would highly recommend Mei's. read more

Came in on the 4th of July, not a lot of people but I can attest to the food being delightful. We ordered the beef and scallion pancakes, fresh pork bao, and the wonton soup. I was very excited to see a new restaurant next door to my building. I looked up the menu before I went and was happy to see that they are known for their Berkshire Pork. The decor was very nice and welcoming. The server was pleasant and attentive. The food however was a disappointment. My entree came BEFORE my appetizer and neither dish was hot. The bao was mostly dough with very little filling. The BBQ Pork with Bok Choy was what I was looking forward to eating and it was a total disappointment. The Bok Choy was cooked to perfection but the pork was dry and not very well seasoned. To top it all off, the two front of the house employees were arguing about work schedules and who was not the boss of whom. Not what I want to hear when I go out to dinner. There needs to be improvement if they expect customers to return or recommend to other people. read more

Julia our server was the only bright spot! Remainder of the service was very disorganized and rude even to customers.
