Hands down the best Banh Mi of my life. My husband and I had the chicken and it was perfect. Crisp, fresh pickled veg, chicken is thigh meat, bread was crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. The sauce is to die for. Spicy, creamy, bright. He had the summer rolls and loved it. I had summer rolls special made with just shrimp. I liked the sauce but the roll itself was nothing special with just shrimp, lettuce and rice noodle. I'd skip unless they could add some cilantro and mung bean. I tried their Bambu classic drink. I tried the spicy lemongrass tofu banh mi here. It was delicious! The tofu was well-cooked, served hot and freshly fried with a delicious skin and good flavor. I got the spicy tofu and it was perfect for me, relatively lightly spiced without being overwhelming. The tofu was a perfect complement to the crunchy veg- lightly pickled vegetables, fresh green pepper slices, and herbal cilantro. I can't say if the sandwich is vegetarian or vegan, but I suspect that the small amount of creamy sauce has some sort of dairy in it. I'd definitely recommend this dish- it came out to about 6.50 total for a very sizable sandwich. Update: I've come here two more times and have not been disappointed. My friends have gotten the other banh mi sandwiches and loved them. For any vegans out there, I do think the sandwiches have mayo on them, so maybe asking for the tofu banh mi without mayo would make it vegan? However, I probably wouldn't get one of the desserts again because strong coconut milk flavor isn't really my cup of tea and it is really hard to eat all of those toppings in that cup through that straw. I love the banh mi sandwiches here. They're amazing and keep me coming back every time :) The bubble teas and always an additional plus, especially when you can customize the level of sweetness to your own taste. The one unique thing I haven't been able to see much nearby is the pandan egg waffle, which has a crispy outside but light and fluffy inside. It's a MUST get if you've never tried it before. Let me preface this review by telling you all that I absolutely ADORE Viet food and I eat it every chance I get. Both banh mi and boba tea are up there in my favorite edibles of all time, so needless to say I've been dying to try this place since it first opened. Went with the fam on a Sunday afternoon. Interior is clean, even the bathroom, and staff is friendly and helpful. They do need more seating though, there's barely enough for 10 people and the space is large enough for several additional tables. We got the jasmine milk tea with boba, the matcha green milk tea, and a kiwi strawberry smoothie. All were very tasty. Their drink menu (including add-ins like jelly, boba etc) is extensive and would definitely visit just for a drink. The food did leave something to be desired. We tried both the classic and the chicken banh mi, both spicy (with jalapeños, because obvi). Classic was better than the chicken but not the most flavorful I've ever had. Summer rolls were interesting since they contained both shrimp and pork belly, but I actually found the pork too heavy for what is supposed to be a light dish and wound up removing it. Spring rolls came out hot and crispy, but the filling was also a little too heavy and "porky". Would've liked a lighter, more veggie driven filling. They also offer wings and loaded fries, which I might try if we return. Overall, drinks are excellent (maybe that's why their takeout menu only features the drinks? There's no food on their takeout menu? Weird). And the classic banh mi is ok in a pinch if you're craving it, but I wouldn't go out of my way for the food here. read more

Wow, now I see why Bambu gets all the love it deserves on Yelp. It wasn't after I visited that I found out this is actually a franchise location and the only location in NY. I guess there's just way too much competition out in the city and Queens for a new bubble tea place to thrive. Their boba is definitely one of the best ones I've had though and the mango was very fresh as well. Highly recommended. Their Banh Mi is something to be talk about as well, although a bit too spicy when I went for the spicy option the pork and fresh veggies worked so well to make one delicious sandwich. Price is very economical too at $5.95. Definitely a nice place for a quick snack or lunch in the area with a small group. They're at the end of a strip plaza so it can be kind of hard to see at first if you don't know the exact entrance, plenty of parking at the lot however and it was not busy at all when we were there around 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. read more

I'm always craving teas especially a nice ice cold drink to help cool off the heat from the warm summer days we've been having. I wanted to try a new place instead of making the usual Gong Cha choice. I leaned on my trusty Yelp app to help me find other bubble tea spots and stumbled upon Bambu. I was intrigued by their choices of drinks but I didn't want anything too crazy so I stuck with a Strawberry Fresh Fruit Tea with Basil Seeds and Crystal Bubbles. I was blown away because it wasn't sweet at all. I can taste the fresh strawberries and I loved how their crystal bubbles weren't sweet either. It was just the refreshing drink I needed to help beat the heat. The boyfriend ordered the Honeydew Smoothie with Aloe and he really enjoyed sit since he was craving for honeydew for awhile now. We also had to try the Pandan Bubble Waffle, which I didn't expect was going to be so big. We definitely couldn't finish it but it was really good. The food and drinks are great but the guy up front (he's always there -- not sure if it's a manager or owner) is SO rude to people. He's always pissed and it's bizarre. Wow I love this place, since finding it about a week or so ago I've already been here 3 times. The service here is just phenomenal, the woman who I believe is the owner is so so helpful with suggestions, and she takes the time out to make sure we knew to mix up the drink when trying the Ché. Everyone else working here is super nice as well. The food is great, totally worth the prices and for a dessert, I never ever feel gross afterwards- it all tastes so fresh. I highly highly recommend the taro smoothie, it's made with fresh taro paste and is so so good. The decor is nice too, I love the simple theme and the music videos they play, it's very spacious as well. Overall this place is great, I would 10/10 recommend. Wow. By far, the best bubble tea drinks in the area! The prices are not too bad either, they are pretty average considering the high quality of the drinks. I ordered matcha tea with lychee jelly bits in it. I absolutely loved it, the matcha flavor was on point and extremely tasty and milky. The lychee was the perfect texture and full of genuine flavor. Bambu has become my Friday night / end of workweek routine stop. There's the delicious toasted banh mi sandwiches, end up getting the BBQ Pork and Chicken. There's the sweet and fluffy pandan waffle. Then there's the loaded banh mi fries with beef and a fried eff. All topped off, washed down with a che drink. The staff is very friendly, welcoming, customer oriented. The food (being at least a weekly occurrence) is good. We hope Bambu becomes a permanent Stony Brook fixture. read more

My favorite specialty beverage spot in all of New York! The BAMBU franchise really did a great job with their menu. The drinks are incredibly unique. It makes the other bubble tea spots seem just too BORING to go to anymore. As for this location, it is the BEST! The restaurant is super clean, cute and modern. The staff team is great especially the male cashier in the front who is always friendly and incredibly helpful. This BAMBU location also offers food items that I ABSOLUTELY recommend. The food quality is better than most Vietnamese restaurants in the area and at a better price point too. The whole food menu is mouth watering with only one exception- the chicken wings, which I find too salty. But I still give the place five stars. I would give it 10 stars if I could! read more

The $3 passion fruit drink was delicious and freshing! It has real passion fruit in it, which is rare. The seed definitely give a crispy texture compare to the usual bubble tea. The atmosphere was very inviting, giving off a modern and chill vibe. The music is mostly hip pop and pop, with the owner DJing from the laptop. You can probably request any song. They also have a large TV if you want to watch random YouTube videos. They also have wifi I was there for almost a hour and the staff seemed super friendly, in fact they seemed to know most of the customers. So glad that Bambu opened up in Stony Brook. I no longer have to trek all the way to the city or deal with bad Smith Haven mall bubble tea when I have cravings! Long island's food industry is finally getting a little diversity amidst all the Italian restaurants, diners, and subpar "fusion" restaurants. Bambu has a lot of space, modern furnishings, and desserts/snacks to go with your bubble tea or che! Definitely try their pandan waffle. My favorite dessert/drink place around Stony Brook! Bambu Favorite is a good one, however I'm not the biggest fan of red tapioca. Crushed Avocado is interesting, it's semisweet but you can definitely taste the avocado. I recommend that one without the coffee jelly. You can also customize your che with 5 toppings for $6! Its official folks,we now got that Cali swag right here in our own backyards on LI. Before I start this review I have to admit that I'm a bit biased for the simple fact that they serve CHE aka something that mainly my Viet peeps would know about. Its a specialty dessert drink they serve back in Nam but my guess is it'll catch on around these parts real quick. I've been to this franchise in my hometown back in Cali so when I heard they were opening one in Stony Brook I nearly stroked out. The only difference that sets this location apart from the ones I've been to is its got a cool modern vibe and tables to sit with your laptop and study or cram for those exams (super close to SBU FYI) AND they have free WIFI!! The other ones were basically a take out/ grab and go kinda place. Basically to sum it up its a Starbucks on steroids. On to the goodies..So the drinks I've had so far and will be on heavy rotation for me: The Bambu Special: they use fresh coconut meat and coconut juice for this concoction along with basil seed and the ubiquitous longan that is my fav go to The Smashed Avocado: basically mashed up avocados with Bubbles different jellies and topped with shaved ice and sweetened condensed milk. This takes me back to my childhood days when momma dukes would make this for me. :) Last but certainly not least... I used to have to trek all the way to flushing queens to get quality BUBBLE TEA, and by quality I mean it's not that gritty bootleg stuff that I've tried in the area..That stuff is like crack to me! They have all of my flavors I'd typically buy; taro milk tea, matcha green tea, coconut just to name a few. The best thing about it is you can add as many toppings as you want AND adjust the amount of sugar you want in it (for those ppl watching their waistlines) I confess I do have a bit of a sweet tooth and they just happen to have the 2 things that are kryptonite to me , fresh off the grill pandan waffles and FRENCH MACAROONS. Bought like a dozen cuz they have soooo many flavors and asking me to choose one flavor would be like asking a parent who their favorite child is. Starting with my fav flavor Pistachio: not too sweet Creme Brûlée: love the crunchy bits Nutella: who wouldn't like that Coconut: felt like I was on an island After munching on a few of these along with my bubble tea I was in a blissful diabetic coma heaven. On another note I spoke to one of the friendly staff ppl and they said they're gonna be serving BANH MI (for those not in the know google it) in the near future. I'm sorry, I've fallen into an alternate universe where Long Island got something the city doesn't have. But seriously, this place is so charming and unique and definitely something Long Island needs. What they serve is vietnamese che, which to me is like less bubble tea, more toppings. I got the Amazing Trio and my friend got the Fruit Addict. Both were refreshing and delicious. Kind of like eating a healthy dessert. Just remember to listen to the woman telling you mix up everything before you eat it though. My friend and I didn't listen and ended up eating the toppings and drinking the coconut milk before we could even work down the mound of ice in the middle. Still delicious though. The other thing I must mention is how sweet the shop owners are. The woman at the cash register (and I apologize for not getting any names) was so sweet. The man who gave us free pandan waffles to taste test for the menu was equally as nice (and those waffles were delicious). (But can we please ignore the part where I kept referring to them as 'panda waffles' because I had no idea what pandan was?) Ordered the #2 special dessert and it was really yummy! I ordered it to go and they gave me the shaved ice in a baggy, but I was told that they typically put it on top of the drink for you with a domed lid on top. If you are taking it out, make sure that you dont ask for ice separately because it'll become quite the project to put the ice inside the drink. (It also tastes really good without it as well). I can't wait to come back and try their other drinks. The tapioca in the #2 was nice and chewy, so I already know that their bubble tea is bound to be good. All the staff here are so friendly, and even when it was raining and there were no customers the moment they saw me walk in they quickly got up to their feet and offered the greetings and recommendations.
