Dimsum menu part 2 as of 8/2021
    Cristina C.

Recently my family and I have been ordering dimsum at Bamboo Garden because it is so expensive elsewhere and it actually taste pretty good here. The quality of dimsum around 8th Ave has gone down drastically and the price just keeps going up. The price has gone up at Bamboo Garden as well but it is nice to know the quality stayed the same. Some of our favorite dishes from here are the spare ribs, beef rice roll and the shrimp stuffed peppers. Definitely will be back and will be a regular at this spot!

We went in as a big group, was taken to a separate room to dine. The only down side of this is that we didn't experience the cart ladies going around us, we had to order everything on paper and give it to the waitress. Also because that day there were really busy. But over all the food was good. Service was alright.

My party came in on a Friday night for dinner. We were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant is spacious, the food is presented nicely, and the wait staff were attentive and worked efficiently and quickly. The best dishes we had tonight were the "seafood in a nest" and the braised tofu. The few complains from the dining party were that 1. a couple of dishes (the sweet sour pork and beef short ribs) were cold when it got to the table 2. the sizzling chicken (which was dry like it's been left out for a while) and the sweet and sour pork had an off taste to it, kind of like it's fermenting 3. The beef short ribs had meat but were mostly fat and connective tissue.

A great spot for dimsum in Brooklyn Chinatown! We usually frequent a different dimsum spot in this area, but the wait was expected to be 60mins. We walked here, and were seated within 5 minutes! It has the traditional cart service with your standard favorites, along with some fun innovative buns (piggy custard bun, walnut buns, sesame mochi buns)!

I think this place was recently renovated. It was big! We were able to get a table right away on a Saturday. The food was good, especially the roasted duck. The waiter/chef sliced the duck in front of us making it look so fancy. Duck skin was the best part which was crispy. Everything was good except the salty egg buns.

The food was yummy and the sever is friendly. The food came out fast too. I came with my family for my birthday dinner. A group of 3.

Typical dimsum spot in this area. I would say my favorite dishes are the sui mai and the bean curd roll. The cart ladies are helpful here and the wait is not long even on weekends. The table cloth is really a disposable table cloth so I think this place is cleaner than others. Otherwise everything is very standard for this area. TIP: Paying with cash is no tax.

Came here for a small wedding banquet. My husband's cousin got married in California (big wedding) but held a small banquet here in Brooklyn for those of us that couldn't make it to the West Coast. This would be my second time here at Bamboo Garden for a wedding banquet. I had hope that the food and service improved from the first wedding banquet I attended back in 2016. Food indeed has improved and it still have the typical Chinese hospitality service. We were in the smaller room, to the side of the main dining hall. There was another wedding banquet that night along with a few open tables for the public as both banquets were not big to book the entire restaurant. Restrooms located in the back, there was a door in the back of our room as shortcut to the restrooms. No paper towels available. There was only a few outstanding dishes as everything else was a typical banquet dishes that represent certain things. Long noodles represent long life. Fish represent happiness and etc...

Visited with family for dimsum during a weekend morning so there was a bit of wait for seats. But the turnover seemed pretty fast as we didn't have to wait too long. The feng zhao was decent, the flavor wasn't as strong and as spicy as other ones I've had. We also had the shrimp cheong fun, ha mai cheong fun, dim sum, har gao, lava custard buns, mini egg tarts and chrysanthemum jelly. The desserts were my favorite. We didn't try anything else but it does look like they offer peking duck and buns as we saw another table order it. By the entrance, roast meats are sold. It also looked like a lot of people can place lunch box orders there as there was a guy who placed an order for 40 lunch boxes as I was leaving.

My go to dim sum, bbq meat and Chinese dinner spot. Why? Because it fits everything I want/expect from an authentic Chinese restaurant. Starting from enter - long wait lines, super loud from the abundance amount of people, the cart ladies yelling out the food options, the "rude" customer service because you speak too softly and they cannot hear you and they tell you to speak up but you don't so you're wasting their time, etc. Newcomers don't realize this culture and uniqueness to appreciate it. Don't get me wrong, customer service is important but if you don't speak their language, you won't understand what they are really trying to tell you. Being here brings back so many memories of childhood. I've visited more modern dim sum restaurants and it's not fun. It doesn't bring this experience. You order from the menu and get your order. There's no ladies pushing the cart. The restaurants are quite. It's definitely more western. That is not the experience you want entering dim sum. You might as well get take out if you want it quiet. You'll read the complaints from other yelpers and it's quite ridiculous of a read. All the employees have their own sense of humor and personalities that are displayed when they show their food and do their job. Their job isn't easy. They don't get paid the big bucks. Don't be rude to them just like you wouldn't be rude anywhere else you go. Their English is limited. Besides the entertaining richness of the culture in this restaurant, the food. As any location, the closer you get to closing time, the food options become less. Same goes for weekdays vs weekends. That's how restaurants produce less waste. They make their food daily. So expect food to run out. Expect it less fresh at 2pm vs 9am. Every time I fly back to nyc, this is where I always go first to fulfill my Chinese food cravings. Because there is not one dish here that can go wrong. Great quality Everytime. Now with reservations and the private rooms, you obviously have to spend more to get a private room. That's a no Brainer anywhere. Downside about the private rooms are that you don't get to experience the loudness upstairs and the cart ladies. But if you just want to enjoy a meal with you friends or family then downstairs is best. They also have karaoke downstairs in each rooms. Besides dim sum, my go to for bbq meat items. Always made fresh daily. Always perfect. Moving into dinner, you really can't go wrong with any dish. Clearly from my photos I eat here a lot. I don't do many repeats but this one is my expectation. For all those negative reviews where they say the food is 5 stars but the "customer service" wasn't good, you don't deserve to come here. You're better off eating at western location.

We were skeptical about this restaurant but it exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to return! We came on a weekend for dinner so it was busy! We had the pork XLB, chicken feet, pork & vegetable wontons with spicy peanut sauce, noodles with scallion and peanut butter sauce, beef lo mein and the beef ribs. Everything was delicious! The highlights of our meal were the pork XLB and the beef ribs. The pork XLB were made fresh to order and they were flavorful and juicy! Definitely on my list of best XLB I have ever had. The beef ribs were also delicious! They torched it table side which definitely added a nice touch! Considering how busy they were, the service was immaculate. They were also very attentive to details since we had a kid with allergies. We will definitely be coming back soon. The most recent time, I was here for their dim sum brunch, which is either $36 for AYCE plus $2 for tea, or they price each thing individually. It was a bit annoying that the tea was not included, but at least both the Oolong and Chrysanthemum teas were good quality and readily filled. Service in general was pretty fast and frequently checked on our large semi- private table to see if we needed anything else to order or more tea. The dim sum selection is a bit smaller than many of the traditional dim sum spots, but the overall quality was excellent, with a couple of definite highlights and some more unique dishes such as dumplings with pickled shrimp, crawfish, or Taizhou rice along with Ningbo wontons. In general, I would say that the wrappers were properly thin and everything was filled generously. The aforementioned Pickled Pepper Shrimp Dumplings were one of the highlights. The slightly spicy and sour pickles made it taste very light and paired nicely with the plump shrimp. In terms of other shrimp dim sum, their version of Har Gow/Crystal Shrimp Dumplings included a little bit of sweet crab for an extra touch. It was also tasty. I also liked the Ningbo wontons, filled with a variety of ingredients including minced pork, dried shrimp, yard long beans, pickled vegetables, bamboo shoots, and others. It had a wonderful mix of textures with some interesting crunchy notes. Another unique option mentioned is their Crawfish Dumplings, which are very noticeable compared to the other dumplings due to their bright red color. I appreciated the spiciness but found these a tad fishy with a thicker wrapper than most, but others loved these and ordered more. For more standard dumplings, their Xiao Long Bao/XLB were pretty good, and they had a tasty version of Sticky Rice Pork Siu Mai. The Baked Pork Buns were good as they were not too sticky sweet. Finally, there was a decent version of Pork Dumplings in Chili Oil. Non-dumpling highlights included their excellent turnip cakes along with steamed spare ribs, chicken feet, and a particularly tasty version of steamed beef tripe with satay sauce. I would skip the Beef Short Ribs With Black Pepper, which had good flavor but was way too chewy. I know someone else ordered the spring rolls, but I don't remember trying them. They also apparently now have a Ningbo speciality called Shi Bing Tong, but I don't remember ordering it. Someone else got their simple and tasty porridge/congee, only available traditionally with pork and century eggs, and enjoyed it. I tried a bit, and it was indeed good. Desserts included a tasty Crispy Durian Pastry, alright Sesame Balls, a good Pineapple Bun/Bolo Bao, and Custard Buns, which everyone loved, but they had a cuttlefish ink shine, so I couldn't try them. This is a fantastic, reasonably priced AYCE Dim Sum. Would recommend it if they still offer this deal.

This is a refreshing yet filling side to pair with the soup dumplings. I wanted something to round out my meal and this was a great choice. The edamame and tofu make it more satisfying than a typical greens salad while the mustard adds a slight bitterness. - vegetarian soup dumplings (9/10): six pieces of vegetable dumplings filled with a hot broth. This was the main reason I came here so I had to order them. The experience of popping into one and sucking out the broth takes a few tries to get the hang of it. I would recommend eating these as soon as you can so that the skin does not stick to the paper. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! It was great comforting food that still felt fresh and filling

Dishes weren't particularly clean and service was alright, a little clumsy for lack of better word. Was also surprised they put the dessert XLB on top over the savory ones. Food was delicious though! Snagged two savory XLB and a sweet XLB. Michelin recommended spot so definitely hits the spot, no question there. The duo tables were a bit small and the tables are slightly close together, but overall it's spacious. Two washrooms (bathroom, restroom for search terms) available. Six Flavors XLB - love the variety pick as an option! Color wasn't a gimmick, as they actually tasted different. Gourd was the most unique, being a vegetable base. Signature and crab tasted pretty standard with other spots, but the other four were more unique. Signature XLB - a classic pork soup, rich in flavor and hearty. Taste was on point but they're pretty sizable and have lots of soup. One of our XLB had enough soup for two spoonfuls and we wanted bigger spoons but then the others were definitely less. Mochi & Sesame XLB - a dessert XLB always hits no matter how the others taste. These had a strong sesame flavor, very rich. However the mochi was a bit funky texture wise, just getting stuck in teeth. Definitely get a dessert XLB, is a good option but I'm almost positive they're all good, so no strong bias.

The tuna and avocado paired with the spicy red sauce really made it stand out -- honestly tasted great and something I'd get again. Flavor matched the presentation too. Service was solid overall, no real issues there. The only downside was with a deal they were advertising ("3 for $33"). It was shown on their website and even posted outside the restaurant, which was actually one of the main reasons we chose the spot. When we tried to use it, we were told they weren't honoring it that night and that the deal had been causing them to lose money. I understand adjusting pricing if something isn't working, but if that's the case, the promotion should be removed or clearly communicated ahead of time.
