Beef cherng fun (rice roll), siu mai, lo bak go (turnip cake), lo mai gai, shrimp paste stuffed eggplant
    Sarah A.

Came here the weekend following Lunar New Year. The nearby Fortune Palace restaurant was packed, so I came here instead and there was no wait at all for my party of 2. I've been here several times with my family in the past and it's not the best, but good enough that we would come back. Some dishes are better than others, but overall pretty decent. Out of the 5 dimsum dishes ordered this time, my favorite was the siu mai-- flavorful and meaty. The beef cherng fun (rice roll) and lo mai gai was good too. Service was good and our food came out quickly. When we sat down, literally 3 different ppl asked us what tea we wanted.

Food - 3.5/5 Came here on a Saturday for dim sum and ordered 5 dishes. The beef cherngfun was good, better than most; rice rolls were bouncy, the beef was seasoned well. Everything else was mediocre though. The eggplant with shrimp paste was okay, eggplant was slightly undercooked and not as flavorful. The sticky rice was also under seasoned but had everything you'd expect; the eggplant yolk, lap cherng and pork pieces. The radish cake was a little too starchy and didn't have much radish in it. The siu mai was actually really good; had a lot of filling and cooked well. Service - 4/5 Service was good, dimsum ladies were attentive but a little pushy and the waiters refilled our teapot frequently. Ambiance - 4/5 It is your typical dimsum spot; loud, crowded but that's what you typically get on a Saturday for dimsum. Restaurant was clean.

I dined at this restaurant with my in laws this past Sunday evening. We had a big group so we reserved a room. This was my first time dining here and it was nice. The service was good and fast. We started off with a fish soup which the service staff ladles into bowls for everyone. Then we ordered some seafood dishes. They were tasty and good quantity for the price. I recommend everyone to check out this place.

Came here a few Saturdays ago with family (in laws). 5 adults + 1 baby in high chair. It was rainy and busy day. Once seated, it took awhile for them to get the highchair as they had forgotten about us. Everything is ordered through paper. We check off or tally up the items we want and flag a server over to grab the order sheet. They don't give you another order sheet- you would have to ask if you want more food. It was so busy that they were not as attentive as we would have like. Had to flag servers down to get tea refills and remove empty dishes. They even took awhile to get our order sheet. All the rice rolls (except beef) came out so late that we thought they forgot and was about to ask for another order sheet. They had an interesting dish- red rice rolls with spring rolls. We got it for my vegetarian sister in law and it was actually good. The spring rolls were still crispy inside. Overall a typical dim sum place with a few interesting dishes.

Our go-to authentic Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn! We come here for dim sum and dinner all the time! Great service and lots of seating available, with private rooms upstairs as well. We came last night for a family friend's birthday and ordered our favorites! We got the following and all come with a huge shareable portion! Steamed chicken feet: A classic Chinese dish that is also served during dim sum Pork chops: Seasoned wonderfully with lots of flavors! Fried super well with lots of crunch. Crispy chicken: Delicious and tasty, also comes with a sauce Veal chop: Cooked so tender and drenched in the BBQ sauce that is super sweet Pan fried flounder: Not pictured, but another classic. Super crunchy and flavorful, comes with soy sauce base Fried squid with cashews: Also not pictured, but a great starter. Fried perfectly and well seasoned House special fried rice: Delicious, comes with diced salted fish that adds a nice salty flavor Overall, we always recommend this place and come for all special dinners out with family!

I've dined here a couple of times before covid and there was really only one item that I loved while everything else was just ok. However, came here for outdoor dining the other day and I fell in love with the quality of the dimsum! I didn't order the usuals, so maybe those are still just ok Outdoor dining - we sat down before realizing that it's not theee best spot to socialize as it's directly underneath the D subway line so you'll be hearing a lot of rumbling. You do have to wait around a bit for service because it's busier inside and the waiter doesn't come out as often. My three must orders are: Baked Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun (aka pineapple liu sha bao): unsurprisingly, not a lot of dimsum restaurants have this on the menu, so I'm always eggstra eggcited when I do find it. It's super runny and a mess to eat because it always ends up dribbling down my fingers to my plate, but the salted egg yolk custard is just delicious. I like it with the pineapple bun crust because of that extra crumbly-ness Baked Crispy Durian Cake: haha looks like I love their baked items! Love the thin crispy skin on this combined with the soft, creamy durian filling. Durian isn't too potent so your friends who normally can't stand the funk can also taste at ease :) Taro Puffs: another crispy outside! Good amount of taro plus salty filling that consists of some juicy pork. I always avoid ordering this at the bakeries because it's never crispy enough, but this was perfect Others I've tried that are also good: stuffed eggplant, black pepper short ribs, chicken feet, and the deep fried jalapeno stuffed with shrimp deserves a mention since they do it a little differently than most places. On top of the shrimp paste, they added rice to it when deep frying that gives it more of a crunch. Only thing that I didn't like would be the snowy skin durian. It comes cold and wrapped with plastic. I was expecting more of a mochier skin/wrapping, but the skin is too flour-y and not chewy. I ended up just digging out the durian filling to eat

I have been to this restaurant many times and the food is great. Sometimes we take it home . Other times we eat at the restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our dim sum experience, savoring shrimp, beef, and cilantro steamed rice rolls, along with clear dumplings featuring shrimp and beef. The assortment of mini buns, including pineapple, pork, and beef, added delightful variety. Dim sum is an endless delight, perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Came here for family dinner.. Food is pretty good & great service. Everything that we ordered was very tasty with good flavor. They have second floor private room. Plus they have elevator for elder to take if they can't walk up to the stairs. But the elevator is very slow. Overall, I would come back again for dinner. Good food with good price.

The service here is incredibly homey & catering especially if you can speak the language- they may pull up a chair or hold your baby while you eat. We over ordered our usual over-order. HOT DAM. Let's start in the way the food arrived: The shrimp: cooked, sweet, tender, a second under to maintain that cross that keeps you guessing- is it fully cooked? The head roe is in tact and looked like it jus met a second of steam- served w jalapeño soy. Beautiful looking but even better in the belly. Followed by the impressive presentation of Ebi sashimi w their heads (jus to look at before they bread and fry w salted egg batter!) was so fresh, cold and yummy. Even the non-raw ppl ate this up. The salted egg crab feast- my goodness! You've just got to order and have this. So we'd brought 2 dozen crabs to be breaded and fried which the restaurant obliged to perfection- each piece (esp the shells) were thoroughly dredged with this mouthwatering salted egg powder that would envelope each piece like a thin cracky coat of paint that you could eat like a wafer chip. Then they added tiny fried fish in the same coating! Topped with fresh and dried shallots, garlic chips, jalapeño and Birds Eye chili. Holy F-ing Moly. We almost lost it. Then they casually popped the plate of fried shrimp heads coated in the same batter. No Big Deal. Drooool city. The sesame baby beef ribs were so large our server cut them for us and it was seared in this honey char sui dark Chinese 5 spice soy sauce that necessitated bowls of white rice. So tender- you can tell they'd pounded this veal to death. The sea cucumber medley came next. Many connoisseur favors this dish that has an assortment of uncommon seafood (sea cucumber, scallops, squid) with also selective veggies- sugar snap peas, king oyster mushrooms, sprouts and macadamia. Ok I see you special people. Was tasty and seasoned exactly. Lobster sticky rice- I can't even. How did someone stir fried some coated lobster pieces and then said- it needs some chewy sweet rice melded in with preserved pork belly? Look- I don't question the method- I just came to eat. Let's just say we tore this up. And thank you D- for letting me know this was coming so I didn't fill up on the salted crabs and ribs over white rice bc I had to stop myself. Black chicken soup- peppery, sweet and savory. Not herbally at all. We needed this boogie palate cleanser. What a treat. Fried whole Flounder. Because we just can. Nothing to be said about this one except it was not the best version, very likely bc it's hard to impress someone who's already plowed through a heavenly buffet on their 3rd plate. But I will say- the quality was missed on this one as auntie's discerning palate declared it wasn't fresh. It was fried and she knew right away. Dam she's good. A very Toisan dish came next: preserved Chinese sausage and pork belly with Chinese broccoli. I approve. Another "light" lol dish. We tried to stop the chicken but it was already made. We had the drunk sauce chicken (I'm sorry- I don't know the official name)- more or less like a hainanese chicken that's boiled or silky steamed and then doused in this brothy wine reduction. This was actually very tasty and I would like nothing more than the sauce alone and a pint of white rice on any given day. Out came the Peking pork chop. WTF. As we all stared at the half eaten beef ribs and then back again at the heaping orange red blocks of fried meat that threatened to topple us. WTF. I'll tell u wtf- this is not to be missed. I'd even cut another piece of beef rib to compare to my 3rd piece of Peking chop to possibly understand in an educated way- what is the reason for this kind of repeat? Here's my conclusion: They are different. The Peking pork chop is always favored bc it's crazy sweet but balanced with tomatoey tang it just strikes the most beautiful balance. And Choi Fook hires chefs to individually pick out the fattiest cuts of pork to coat in this magnificent batter and sauce to render the perfect Peking pork chop. All that said, go back up to read my description of the beef ribs- they are very solid but they are not perfect like the chops. This is the one dish I would run off with, here. They said one more and we were powerless to question anything at this explosive point. So the snow pea shoots came and they were really tender, scrumptiously light, comparatively, married with goji berries, enoki, dried shrimp and garlic. Tasty. We finished with fresh cut oranges and of course- mango cake from Tous Le Jour. It wouldn't be right without it. Lol.

Crowded, tight, but ultimately the same dim sum experience customers get anywhere else on 86th Street. My family and I came here for dim sum on a recent holiday at 11:30am and, as expected, it was packed. It took about 30 minutes to get seated, but when seated the food offerings were fast and furious. I liked that the dim sum carts here were constantly on the move and coming and going, so whenever we wanted a certain dish it wasn't too far away. The restaurant had everything a good dim sum restaurant should serve - pork siu mai, shrimp dumplings, steamed chicken feet, fried sticky rice, spring rolls, beef noodle rolls, shrimp noodle rolls, donut noodle rolls, beef tripe, chive dumplings, char siu bao, mini egg tarts, malay sponge cake, coconut pudding and much, much more. From what we tried, everything was standard fare and was good flavor-wise. In addition, our table also ordered a shredded chicken pan fried noodle. Although it took longer than we wanted to come out, when it did, it pleasantly surprised me. Not only was the noodle crispy, but there was a ton of sauce on the noodle too. The 1st few bites were great, in that it was crunchy, but eventually the noodle got a bit soggy, however there was plenty of flavor to it. I would have liked a bit more chicken in the dish as well. The food is pretty much on par with other restaurants on 86th Street. Variety is good and so are the flavors. The restaurant isn't huge, so wait times could get long during peak hours on weekends.

This is the spot to be for family style and a good time. They have two floors with the second floor having private rooms with karaoke machines. The rooms are pretty big upstairs fitting like 10+. The food is great here and you can up the portion if you want for the amount of people in your table. For private rooms you need to spend a minimum so check with them when you call to reserve a room. They also have great service here because we brought a cake and they sliced and served for all of us. My favorite dish was probably the fried tilapia fishies and the lamb ribs. Soo good! My table devoured all the dishes.

That's a huge King Crab! Mmm

The food was very fairly priced and the portions were huge. We got the pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice, szechuan chicken (which came with white rice), and pad see ew (which though not listed comes with pork, chicken, and shrimp). Everything was solid, but our favorite was the fried rice which had a ton of flavor. I liked the veggies that were in the chicken dish but there were just way too many of them compared to the chicken and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The pad see ew wasn't made the traditional way I've had it with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It had some sort of orange sauce that tasted closer to a sweet and sour. It wasn't bad it was just not what I was hoping for. The soup dumplings were solid, no complaints there. And the fried rice was great, lots of flavor. Overall, I liked this place especially for the price but I'd probably order different things if I went back.

I noticed there were a lot of takeout orders, from delivery services to local folks picking up their regular dinner. I looked over the menu and decided on salt and pepper wings and an order of shrimp. Fried Rice came out first and it was delicious. I even tasted a hint of salted egg yolk mixed into the egg mixture friefried up with the rice that signature crispiness with the little saltiness.... fantastic. The salt and pepper wings were different than the ones i'm accustomed to though the flavor was amazing. It didn't have the fried garlic, peppers, chilis, and onions that i'm accustomed to being in the dish. They were still flavorful, juicy and crisp and I could tell they cooked them fresh. That was much appreciated. I ended up taking half of my food home because I was stuffed.Thank you Msm Ellen and the Crown Garden crew for a tasty solo dinner.

There was nothing that I ordered that needed ketchup. Nothing. There wasn't even soy sauce in the bag. Then had the unmitigated gall to charge $22 for the salt baked shrimp and told me I had to pay $5 extra to substitute the lo mein for white rice. Who is eating white rice with shrimp? Girl bye. I'm not paying almost $30 for one meal from a hood Chinese spot. If there's no heat in your establishment, your prices need to be in lowercase. If it looks like you might catch staph in your establishment, your prices need not to be so loud. I also believe they overcharged me. They did have a sign saying that the prices went up, but I think they may have been too cheap to print out a new menu if that was the case. I was going off of what they had on the wall for the general public. So as I stated, I ordered crab Rangoon ($7, allegedly), honey wings ($7, allegedly), a shrimp egg roll ($2, allegedly), spare rib tips with fried rice ($12, allegedly). My total was $31. My assumption is they probably charged me extra for pork fried rice, which I didn't ask him for. I know for a fact they are not charging tax because there's no way that you're forcing people to pay in cash while also charging them for taxes that you don't pay. The crab Rangoon was actually pretty decent even though I didn't have the sauce that comes with it. The honey wings were OK. They actually taste more like honey BBQ. I prefer C&Y honey wings. It's real honey and stay hot for an hour due to the way honey maintains heat. I also don't appreciate when these spots chop up a wing and call it two wings. 1 wing is the entire thing. STINGY. The spare rib tips I don't like and neither do I like their pork fried rice. The rice is a bit bland and I don't like those large spare rib tips. I prefer the boneless spare rib tips that C&Y has. A shrimp roll is a shrimp roll is a shrimp roll. It wasn't too bad and it was actually pretty happy. The shrimp was a little bit larger than those baby shrimp that they normally stuff in shrimp rolls. Their pricing is on par with C&Y yet I don't have no issues paying what they ask and their food is good aside from their lo mein. They are not stingy and have pretty decent customer service unlike the guy who took my order here who paused my order to take another order over the phone and tend to the person behind me. This is what I get for cheating on my spot and being lazy when they both were far af.
