I was very hesitant to try Bakker's because of the poor reviews on Yelp but they are extremely convenient for me so I gave them a chance. After using them three times, they have not ruined any clothing yet - so I will continue to use them... until they do. The service has been good thus far. read more

Should have read the reviews before I went here. Have a wedding in Florida that I am leaving for ( in 2 hours from now ). Dropped off yesterday morning, and figured with 36 hours on the clock, if they said they could do it in 24, I would be gold. They said I would have it by today, before my flight late tonight. Got an email at 4 saying it was good go, everything was cool. Just walked in there to pick up. They had 1 shirt ready for me that they refused to wash due to a tear ( fair enough ), and then told me the rest wouldn't be ready til Monday ( my flight is today on Thursday, I dropped off Wednesday morning, I'll be effing back on Saturday ). Guess I swinging by nordstroms at some point if I can, or doing this damn wedding in a tshirt. I'll upgrade to 2 stars if they remove the expedition fee they charged me ( oh yeah! ), and to 3 if they give me the laundry for free on Monday. I probably won't be coming back in any situation. Update: they gave me an additional 10% off. 1 star it is! I would recommend Sparkle cleaners down the street if you are in need. read more

I dropped off a pair of pants to be hemmed among some clothes to be cleaned. For the pants I had pinned them to show where to hem it but when I got them back they were A LOT shorter (they are now like ankle capri pants). I asked to try and get it fixed and they said they would charge me a second time to redo it. Not to mention this was already expensive "fine" dry cleaning- will never come here again and now I have to fix my pants somewhere else :( read more

I've been coming here 5 years now. They always do a great job. The women who work here are always pleasant and professional, and know me by name. I bring my husband's suits here along with my work clothes and my daughters' and my sweaters. Stains are always removed, items are pressed, and nothing has ever been lost or damaged. Came in because I saw 40% off signs - turned out when I went back to pick up my clothing everything was more expensive than originally quoted. I said something and the reply was, "Yeah, that one guy keeps misquoting prices. We'll have to talk to him." No offer to fix the price for me, even though they admitted I was not the first complaint of the day. That's the first and the last time I'll be in. I've taken a few things here to be dry cleaned and hemmed. The first time the service was ok and they did a decent job. Since they were convenient to my place in Ballard, I thought I had found a neighborhood dry-cleaner. The second time it took almost three weeks but overall the quality and price added to the convenient location made it ok. This last time and my last time going to them they charged me over $50 for hemming two pairs of jeans?! When I asked about the price the lady who rang me up said "oh we already put your discount in for this order." I was dumbfounded as that was well and above what I had paid the previous times I had brought in something to be cleaned or altered. The worst part? The workmanship. When I came home and looked at the pants the hem looked like something I could have done myself with simple thread and needle. Poor thread matching and uneven stitching and overall not at all looking like something I would have paid $50 for let alone $10. I will not be back. read more

I've used these guys a couple of times and gotten back nice clean clothes with no problems. They have a parking pullout in front and additional parking in back. They removed the collar stays and put them in a little paper bag for me which I appreciated since I've previously lost many at other drycleaners. I also like that they don't attach any tags directly to my shirts - they wrap a piece of paper through the buttonhole and staple it so no new holes in my shirt! I'm trying to think of ways I can make this review any more disjointed. The folks have generally been friendly and courteous. The prices are a little on the higher side - on the flip side, the service good and they've done nice little details for me (like fixing a button) for no extra charge. They sometimes have coupons in the ValPak so keep an eye out for those! And done. read more

Worst drycleaning company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. Clothes looked better before I dropped them off. The girl behind the counter was totally discombobulated when we came to pick them up and we had to tell her twice what parts of our order were missing, so she could go find them. My officer buttons were removed from a uniform shirt and not attached. We received a phone call several days later to come back and get the envelope that contained them, only to find two of the buttons missing when we got home and opened the envelope to re-install the buttons. Living directly above this dry cleaner there could not be a more convenient location. The laundry service the provide for men's shirts is a little expensive but very good. My shirts have always come back clean and crisp. Where this place fails to please is that they've repeatedly damaged our dry cleaning items and generally have been difficult to deal with about these incidents. The dry cleaning prices are high and on the service they offer top shelf service, but the fact is that they have a very poor track record (at least with us) when it comes to actually caring for our clothing. We've changed to another dry cleaner down the street who has both more reasonable rates and thus far has not damaged any of our clothing. read more

I was looking for a place to clean my down comforter and Bakker's online site said there was an "April special" for 40% off cleaning bedding and blankets and that the special expired 4/30/2015. Online it said the price was $51 for my twin bed. So 40% off was great! It also said i needed to print out the online coupon for it to be valid. When i got to the store the guy behind the counter quoted me the "preferred costumer" price which was $51. I said I had a coupon for 40% off. He said the $51 WAS the 40% off price. That everything is ALWAYS 40% off. "What does that mean? If everything is always 40% off what is the point of saying its 40% off?" "It's marketing, it got you in here didn't it?" "So, this coupon that I HAD to print out doesnt take 40% off the price?" "That's marketing for you." "And that's poor customer service." ... shame on you Bakker's! ... so just know that the all the prices at Bakker's are already 40% off a price you'll never see. Aka it's all regularly priced and there are no "specials" or "preferred memebers" or "discounts." read more

Be careful as their business practices leave something to be desired. I asked them to hold my dry cleaning as I was on a trip and did not want to advertise I was away from my house. I gave specific instructions not to deliver until the date I returned and was assured by the store manager it would not be a problem. I come home to dry cleaning hanging from my door! Neighbor informed me it was there several days. In addition, they scratched my custom door handle! I called, they apologized and said they have messed up many doors in the past and the owners will have no problem refunding me. I submitted the cost of the new door handle and waited. Months go by and I inquire to crickets. I stop using them. Fast forward to almost 6 months later, I notice that I have been charged, every month, for someone's dry cleaning on my card! Over $190 in charges had occurred without me knowing or signing for it. I called and no one picks up, several days of this. I finally I go to the store. They assure me it was a mistake and will not happen again. I call my credit card company to block just to be safe. I then incur 2 more charges, even with the blocked card! They claim they don't know why this was happening but maybe one of the drivers had the card wrong. I claim either it is fraud or incompetence. Either way I am out an expensive custom door handle, lost hours and hassles and it is clear the owners are more interested in making money than customer service. Do not leave your card in file with them as they may "accidentally" keep charging you! read more

Bakker's is a great drycleaner. They are a convenient location for Ballard residents, as you can pull up right at the front door on your way to work in the mornings. Their prices are quite fair - I paid about $25 with tax for 11 shirts. They do a great job and can get the cleaning done very quickly if you need. For me, the only downside is that they close at 6:30 PM on weekdays, which is sometimes too early for me to get there for pick ups after work. read more

Find another dry cleaners. I tried them out and had 10 shirts, 7 pants and 2 ties cleaned. I got a "discounted" rate of $10 per tie... this was down from their normal rate of $17. Really? They also ruined the lining on two different pairs of pants out of the seven I turned in. They did fine on the shirts but I would never go back here. read more

Last time I took something in the pickup date was three weeks away--and then when I returned on the day of it wasn't there. I never take the time to review businesses but I was so disappointed with Bakker's I needed to take the time. They are way overpriced. They were supposed to let me know when my clothes were ready and they didn't. They stained one of my articles and didn't do a great job of cleaning the others. They quoted me a price and when it came time to pay they had increased it by $20. When I complained and told the shopgirl what I was quoted she said in a monotone voice, "There's nothing I can do about it. That's the price." read more

Disappointing - fell far short of the 100% customer satisfaction promised on their website. Supposed to be open at 9 on Saturdays, but still closed at 9:20 when I arrived to pick-up my cleaning. Called and left a voice mail asking for a call back when / if they opened so I could return to pick-up my cleaning as Saturdays are the only day I can make it in. Didn't hear from anyone all day (even thought I later learned they did eventually open). And nothing until several days later, after I followed-up by email, at which point the manager eventually offered a $2 reduction in the bill for the inconvenience. Didn't even offer to deliver the cleaning although they have delivery service. Clearly not a lot of value placed on customers' time, nor the inconvenience of being without the 3 items for another week. When I returned the next Saturday, the young lady working was quite unpleasant. Asked her to have the manager contact me, and she first said I would have to return to the cleaners on a weekday to talk to the manager - really?! Eventually she agreed to have the manager contact me, but several days later I've heard nothing. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! I brought a $1200 dress in to be dry cleaned at the Ballard Bakkers and they totally ruined a beautiful dress. I was picking it up for an event to wear that evening, I could not wear the dress and they were unwilling to help me fix it or dry clean an alternate dress that day. Whats even worse is they never called to let me know there was any issues with the dress which they indicated they knew on Thursday. On saturday, I was rushing around trying to figure out what to do or find a seamstress. And I had to work all day as well which made everything even harder. Bakkers after my second desperate call for help on Saturday, they recommended that I go to Sparkle Cleaners down the street that had same day service. I quickly rushed down there and Sparkle Cleaners went above and beyond and took amazing care of me and had a new outfit cleaned for me within hours. Bakkers pretty late to the game: 5 days after writing a letter to Bakkers about my experience they called and told me to bring the dress back in to see what they could do to fix it. Pretty late guys. I needed the dress Saturday and you left me hanging, literally. It's not about fixing the dress. It's about doing the right thing and at the right time to help out your client. Going to a dry cleaner should not be a place that causes stress or leaves you with a horrible mess to try and scramble with. Saturday was an extremely frusterating day trying to coordinate everything and all because of a dress. Horrible customer service and horrible experience dealing with them. I am so furious. With a nice garment like that, the owner could have at least reached out to apologize. I would not recommend going to this establishment with any of your clothing. read more
