Reminded me of a cake that was 10 days old from your fridge. We have eaten tiramisu many times in Europe; and this one not to recommend. My bad of choosing it. One of the best bakery options we have in West Seattle. They have plenty of breads, sandwiches, cookies, and desserts. The standouts for me are the Spinach Croissant, Junction Croissant, and Carrot Cake. There was a period in time when whoever was preparing it was very light on the feta, and fillings. I'm happy to say that time has passed, and the croissants are stuffed. Service is quick and friendly, and it has to be. They get absolutely annihilated on the weekends. If you show up past 11am, don't expect to find your favorite pastry waiting for behind the case. Ask them to heat up your pastry for you! The ambiance is homey French, with a small amount of seating inside. Because we live in such a beautiful area, I never sit inside. We visited this branch of Bakery Nouveau, hoping to snag some paczki since we forgot to preorder for Fat Tuesday (or as Michiganders know it, Paczki Day). Per the cashier, unlike previous years, where they often sold Paczki for several weeks leading up to the celebration, this year, they will only have them on Tuesday. Apparently every single one is handmade by the owner, Pâtissier William Leaman, and this year, he's been too busy with the 2026 Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie competition as the US team's coach. That's certainly a great excuse! When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon a bit after lunch, this place was still quite busy with a line that stretched to the door, but not outside. As with the Burien location, I find the ordering process to be a bit of a pain; while there are plenty of workers to help, ordering is slowed due to the fact that the display cases are placed in a line and there's not much room in the building to maneuver to the desired display. In our case, while we had someone helping us all the way in the back of the line, we weren't able to select anything until we got all the way to the pastry case in the front. I'm not sure there's a good way to solve this conundrum, though. At any rate, we ended up only getting a single pastry (that was new to us) to try this time. Brown Sugar Pecan Brioche ($5) - This pastry looks like a glistening pecan sticky bun at first glance, with a cinnamon roll-like pinwheel structure and a brown sugar glazed pecan topping. Since it's brioche, I expected it to be dense, but soft, rich, and sweet. This bread is anything but. It's dense, dry, crumbly, almost clay-like in mouthfeel; basically everything brioche should not be. Instead of a sticky caramelized coating over the pecans, the pecans are glued on with only the thinnest of sugar coatings. The pastry doesn't claim to be a sticky bun, so it gets a pass there. Unfortunately the base layer is absolutely terrible, by far the worst "brioche" I've eaten in years. It has all the flavor of hard tack with the unpleasant mouthfeel of Play-Doh. Canned Pillsbury cinnamon rolls are far better than this waste of perfectly good ingredients. The owner should be ashamed to release this swill to the public. (1/5) Why am I giving Bakery Nouveau a 5? Because they serve some of the best twice baked croissants known to man. The Capitol Hill location is my go to for a sweet and buttery treat and I still recommend it to everyone that visits me, specifically for the almond and chocolate twice baked croissants. The paczki are no slouches either; probably the best we can get around Seattle. Bathrooms - Single unisex room. Note: There will be some walk in availability for paczki on Tuesday, but the cashier told me that they will likely sell out by 10AM. An iconic French bakery in the Seattle area, I've been coming to Bakery Nouveau for a VERY long time. The first location is in West Seattle, established in 2006, and the one I used to go to regularly until they opened the Burien one, which opened in 2017. The Burien location is more convienient parking wise as they have a private lot, unlike street or garage parking in the West Seattle or Capitol Hill locations. If this will be your first time here, it's an ABSOLUTE MUST to get the twice-baked almond croissant or the twice-baked chocolate croissant if you're not an almond fan, in my opinion. I've also had the Kugelhopf (a sweet enriched dough soaked in rum butter and rolled in a vanilla-sugar mix), Kougin Amann (their take on a Breton pastry, butter and sugar laminated pastry dough causing a buttery caramel flavor), chocolate croissant (a regular pan au chocolat although there's nothing regular about it), several different flavors of macarons, and even purchased one of their cakes (Burien location) for my mom's birthday one year. They are all very good, you really cannot go wrong with whatever you choose (grab a couple to try, treat yo' self, you deserve it). I've tried all of their rich and savory breakfast croissants (doesn't have to be breakfast, btw, it's good anytime unless they run out). They have a ham and cheese, spinach and feta, and the Junction Croissant (named after the neighborhood, the Junction has scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, and white cheddar dressed with béchamel). If you're going to get a savory one, get the Junction; you won't regret it. The only classic sandwich I had tried here was the Ham and Cheese on a baguette. I usually come by for pastries or the breakfast sandwiches. But the baguette is perfectly crusty on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. Of course, the ham, Swiss Emmenthaler cheese with cornichons and a Dijon mustard/mayo blend was a DELICIOUS combo. My third favorite item is the quiche, especially the Mushroom (has crimini mushrooms and goat cheese!!!!). If you love mushrooms as much as I do, grab one of these too! I have gotten a coffee there before, and they have great coffee to wash down all those goodies, too. The thing with Bakery Nouveau and why they are WILDLY popular with a very strong following, not only having the best pastry chefs, but the consistency between all three bakeries, you really can't go wrong with any of the locations. However, popular items do sell out, so plan accordingly. Bakery Nouveau is an absolute Seattle and Seattle area bakery! I am so fortunate to live in West Seattle and have a location next to me! The staff is always really nice and they all provide excellent customer service and they are always upbeat from my experience. The space at the West Seattle location is kind of small and the line can get long, so sometimes they have you line up outside. The space feels very much like a cozy traditional bakery/cafe. I enjoy the decor of the space. The food is absolutely delicious! I love their desserts, which are totally premium quality! They also sell sandwiches and bread, but I have only ever had their desserts. They sell coffee as well for a little pick me up! My favorite desserts are the tiramisu and the mocha chocolate cheesecake. Both of those items are incredible. My wife enjoys the pistachio cake that they make. I also enjoy the Paczki that they make. Paczki is a polish donut. They don't always have it on regular basis, but when they do, it's amazing! Today I was working nearby and thought I'd investigate this and bring home a treat for family. I was hungry for lunch so I passed on many great savory options ready to go like pizza slices, crocque maddame, and countless other similar salty savory options. My wife mentioned their croissants.... So I got two of those, a pear danish, and a blueberry lemon croissant. Such quick and kind service even though a bit busy . Parking a pain but I lucked out with a commercial vehicle! Everything was well received and enjoyed. I tried a bit of the danish and it was wonderful. Probably the standout item in our order! The berry lemon was ok and the standard croissants good. This place is very much like an Americanized super version of a Paris boulangerie with an exceptional amount of different savory items. If you go there, discuss your finances first! And anything savory is a lot more expensive per item and frankly looks like more hit and miss and dry than the pastries and desserts. We've spent a lot of time in Paris and the prices here exceed most of the neighborhood and chain locations there probably because it is more "special" than what you typically find in America. This place would not succeed in Paris competition wise for price and quality probably. But it truly is a good product with great staff that care about your happiness with the experience! read more

I've been to Bakery Nouveau a few times now and it never disappoints. It's one of the best bakeries in West Seattle. They will usually have a line when visiting on a weekend. We tried their twice baked almond croissant which was absolutely incredible, it had a generous almond filling. We also got the danish. Their display case is filled with a wide variety of pastries to choose from. The space is cozy with some indoor seating which can get a bit crowded on weekends. We also had the stromboli as the pizza options were not ready yet. They do warm them up and call you when it's ready. The staff were very friendly and helped warm up the food again after it got a bit cold. They have a wide variety of sweet treats, breads and desserts to choose from. You're spoilt with options for cakes. Was so hard to choose. I chose a chocolate macaron, a Tiramisu cake, a vanilla and a chocolate Eclair. The macaron filling was too strong for my liking and the Tiramisu had a really strong layer of chocolate. The chocolate croissant here is AMAZING. I have been looking for a good croissant in Seattle for quite a while, and after having Arsicault's croissant in SF I've definitely been setting my standards quite high. This was a spot that I became aware of recently for having one of the best pain au chocolat's, and I knew I had to give it a try when I ventured out to West Seattle. There was a line outside but it moved pretty quickly and we were inside in no time. I obviously got a chocolate croissant, which was so incredibly light that it almost felt like I was holding nothing. I was afraid it might blow away as I took pictures of it outside! The first bite was actually a little underwhelming, probably because I got the one dryer/tougher part of the whole croissant. However, as I kept eating it I realized this was seriously a good croissant. It was light, moist, flakey, and had the perfect crisp on the outside. The chocolate was a nice touch and not too overbearing either. So yummy. I am so pleased to have finally found a good spot for croissants in Seattle! Too bad this place isn't closer to me, otherwise I would definitely be here much more often :) read more

Macarons You cannot miss these as you enter the store or see them from outside. We had the green pistachio & the coconut macarons.
