I passed by this place many times and knew that they have good reviews. Finally, I went there for lunch today. The ambiance is definitely welcoming and cozy. I ordered a bowl of cauliflower puree soup and a turkey havarti sandwich at the counter. The total was $17 ish which was fair nowadays. They have a self service water station. I got a cup of water and sat down to wait for the food. It is not a fast food place. It took a little while to get the food. They brought the food to my table. The soup was hot and came with two freshly toasted bread. The sandwich was warmed and the bread was crispy. For the sandwich, it already had melted cheese inside which was already a little bit salty. There were some coarse salt on the top of the sandwich made it quite salty. Next time, I will ask them to not put it. The soup was good, but also on a high sodium side. It is definitely a cool place to hang out and I will go back to try their coffee.

Nothing better than a couple of soups and fresh toast, while watching the sunset with a good friend, on vacation in Seattle, at the waterfront. Just a couple of lucky bitches enjoying amazing soup. Thank you Freshy's! The soup flavors were delicious, complex, and very satisfying. Highly recommend!

So, I've managed to drive past this place thousands of times, no exaggeration, and never stop in. Today, in need of lunch, I broke the habit. It's very funky. A hodgepodge of consignment-store furniture, old-school video games, a profusion of globes, gas fireplace, exposed brick, black dropped ceiling, cement floors, local art. Fun! I ordered a salami sandwich and oxtail soup, and was dismayed to see the counter staff pull a plastic container of soup from the fridge, reconstitute it in a glass measure with water, and slap it in the microwave. Ironic, in a place called, "Freshy's", don't you think? One star: gone. Look, get a small steam table with a soup insert. You can pick one up for a song at any of the used kitchen equipment stores in town. You'll have hot soup on demand for your customers, with a little preparation, which will speed up service AND give the impression you care about your food, which microwaving does NOT provide. Message me if if want help setting this up. The soup was ok, a beef/barley affair with strong black pepper flavor, parsnip, onion or leek, and mushroom in evidence. Very seasonal and warming. The microwave made the barley more chewy of course, and it was served nearly boiling, a danger with microwave use. The sandwich was tasty and well-made, all ingredients evenly represented and on an excellent-quality bread. Service was good and friendly, but the counter and open kitchen area needed organization and cleaning, as did the outside of the store, which was piled with dead and trodden leaves that customers were obliged to track into the store. That's the second missing star. Neat place, but it could use a sprucing and a different approach to their soup program, so that they might live up to their name. A typical response to advice like mine would be, "Why bother? Nobody cares!" I would counter that food lovers DO care, enough in fact to give you advice like this, and when it comes to healthfully and carefully prepared food, it COULD be the only one not caring is...you. Recommended, with obvious concerns. They do make a decent sandwich.

Really chill vibe coffee shop with places to sit both indoors and out. Good selection of breakfast sandwiches and the coffee is good. Would def come back to get some work done, it was quite with some music playing which you could hear but not enough to lose focus! Staff is nice and friendly. Would def recommend a place you can grab a good cup of coffee and get some work done.

Great, relaxing, and quiet spot for a low-key sammie on California Ave. Breakfast sandwiches all day and several other sandwiches. I had ham and cheddar with horseradish sauce. Pretty tasty with grilled sourdough. They have a variety of pastries and other bakery items along with a daily soup rotation. Plenty of drink variety including espresso based and beers.

The interior has themed rooms which are kept clean by Seattle and Goblin standards, but would be considered fairly dirty anywhere in Japan. It can get busy on the weekends, but this Goblin knows what it's like to be slammed, so I wait patiently and be respectful. It's nice to see an unpretentious flavor forward cafe run by young women doing so well. Their Hazelnut lattes don't lack flavor and taste like you "don't get it". Their coffee tastes like you were finally invited to the dance. While the market has decided that a Goblin will pay at least $8 for a coffee now, I'll fight back my Goblin tears and say "WORTH IT, WORTH IT, YOU ARE WORTH IT!". I took 1 star off because no place is perfect. I'd also like to see patrons of West Seattle businesses do more as a community to keep these spaces clean and tidy.

It was the beginning of February I had an interesting drink item there. Since I was debating between their mocha, chai, and latte. I had the best of three worlds. It just so happened that they were going to be putting their Valentine's specials out soon. That was going to be on their menu and it was suggested to me. It was very chai/spice forward which I like in my chai drinks. The Mocha profile was a bit faint for me as well as the espresso. They competed for my attention and the chai won out in the end. I can say I enjoyed it, but am more curious about how they are as their own individual drinks. Other worth while mentions. I highly recommend trying this place and can find myself coming back if I'm in the area I'm need of some caffeinated beverages.

Per the cashier, unlike previous years, where they often sold Paczki for several weeks leading up to the celebration, this year, they will only have them on Tuesday. Apparently every single one is handmade by the owner, Pâtissier William Leaman, and this year, he's been too busy with the 2026 Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie competition as the US team's coach. That's certainly a great excuse! When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon a bit after lunch, this place was still quite busy with a line that stretched to the door, but not outside. As with the Burien location, I find the ordering process to be a bit of a pain; while there are plenty of workers to help, ordering is slowed due to the fact that the display cases are placed in a line and there's not much room in the building to maneuver to the desired display. In our case, while we had someone helping us all the way in the back of the line, we weren't able to select anything until we got all the way to the pastry case in the front. I'm not sure there's a good way to solve this conundrum, though. At any rate, we ended up only getting a single pastry (that was new to us) to try this time. Brown Sugar Pecan Brioche ($5) - This pastry looks like a glistening pecan sticky bun at first glance, with a cinnamon roll-like pinwheel structure and a brown sugar glazed pecan topping. Since it's brioche, I expected it to be dense, but soft, rich, and sweet. This bread is anything but. It's dense, dry, crumbly, almost clay-like in mouthfeel; basically everything brioche should not be. Instead of a sticky caramelized coating over the pecans, the pecans are glued on with only the thinnest of sugar coatings. The pastry doesn't claim to be a sticky bun, so it gets a pass there. Unfortunately the base layer is absolutely terrible, by far the worst "brioche" I've eaten in years. It has all the flavor of hard tack with the unpleasant mouthfeel of Play-Doh. Canned Pillsbury cinnamon rolls are far better than this waste of perfectly good ingredients. The owner should be ashamed to release this swill to the public. (1/5) Why am I giving Bakery Nouveau a 5? Because they serve some of the best twice baked croissants known to man. The Capitol Hill location is my go to for a sweet and buttery treat and I still recommend it to everyone that visits me, specifically for the almond and chocolate twice baked croissants. The paczki are no slouches either; probably the best we can get around Seattle. Bathrooms - Single unisex room. Note: There will be some walk in availability for paczki on Tuesday, but the cashier told me that they will likely sell out by 10AM. Looks like an early morning trip to the Capitol Hill location is in my near future.
