Great coffee spot with friendly staff, easy/good food options, and nice indoor/outdoor seating.

Visited during my recent stay in west Seattle. My lavender chai latte was so tasty. I also got almond oatmeal which was also delicious. My service was excellent, I asked for things to be ready quickly. She accommodated me and made it happen. I was also very impressed with the fact that there was no extra charge for almond milk a rarity for sure. I highly recommend this Coffee Shop when you are next in Seattle. read more

We were heading next door for pizza and I stopped in to grab my first Seattle coffee and I was not disappointed! The waitress was super friendly and helpful as I decided what I wanted. I got the vanilla oatmilk latte with a homemade vanilla syrup she recommended. It was a little pricey but I think that is just the going price around Seattle. Drink was delicious so no complaints ! I drank it too fast o take a picture lol. Place is intimate size but good for a coffee date. read more

We had a lovely experience here! Despite us stopping by about 10-15 minutes before close, the staff was super friendly and patient with us. I got a really nice spicy chai with oat milk and my partner had a good mocha. They also have local art and crafts for sale which is really cool. And there's lots of great lighting for doing work or reading. They did have several vegan bakery options too which was great! Would definitely come back here! read more

The chai was definitly one of the better chais I have ever had. Sweet without overdoing it and with a good amount of spice. The cold brew was just decent but I really appreciate that they put it in a glass instead of plastic when I asked. The atmosphere was good with nice lighting and seating facing the large windows. The down side was that there didn't seem to be a tone of tables for more than two people so it is not a place for groups. They seemed to be really pet friendly even indoors which is always appreciated too. Overall a good place to grab a drink and relax. read more

This place was busy for a Sunday morning, definitely a local favorite. Our coffees were made quickly and with care. I noticed my cold brew was shaken up in a shaker which seemed like a nice touch until I tasted it. My Irish Cream cold brew tasted like coffee with lemonade. It was very odd and not sure if the shaker was used and not washed for a citrus beverage prior to my drink or is there is citrus in the cold brew. It was so sour tasting I couldn't finish and was wasted and tossed. The drip coffee was fine, nothing out of the ordinary and didn't taste like lemonade. Unfortunately, I didn't taste my drink until I had already left and could not go back to have them remake it. Hopefully this was a onetime oversight and maybe wrong syrup was used. Regardless, the lemon and coffee sour is something I never want to try again. read more

I stopped in here to get some breakfast and coffee and work for a couple hours. I got the breakfast sandwich without cheese (decent), cranberry orange scone (incredible), and decaf latte with almond milk (decent, though they seem to use Caffe Umbria coffee, which I'm not a big fan of). The wifi was reliable, which is a huge plus when trying to join meetings. If I find myself in West Seattle again, I would come back here for scones! read more

Found this coffee shop while spending the day in West Seattle, and I am SO GLAD I stopped in!! The barista showed me the summer specials menu, so I ordered the Iced Brown Sugar Latté with Shaken Espresso, which was yummy and not too sweet! Also the Spinach & Cheese Bun which was filling and the perfect size. The interior is super cute and bright, plenty of spaces to sit down or work. Coffee and food is fine but the place is just so worn down and not cared for. The chairs are tearing at the seams and wiggle from being loose. Coffee (or wine?) spilled all down the wall, chipped counters and dirty floors. So much potential for this to be a cute place but so unwelcoming now. read more

I've tried this place twice now. It's fine but could be better. The first counter person was great. Friendly and helpful A+ service. The barista however could use some additional training on how to properly pull an espresso shot. It wasn't good. Tasted burnt. I enjoy coming here, but lately my banana cream cold brew, has been lacking la banana. I'm just at a point in my life where I don't have to drink a cold brew with straight unflavored cream. Like many privileged millennial, I've worked and roamed coffee shop to coffee shop, sleep deprived, underpaid, gullet full of every "new" cold bean this side of the Mississippi. Give me something with flavor, and a living wage. Oh, and an avocado toast. At one time, it was my favorite place to grab a coffee drink. When it was colder, I'd always enjoy stopping by for a hazelnut latte. I still would if I wanted to play into my heat on heat taste preferential. Also, this cafe always has tasteful, local artwork to explore and support. We buy local dog treats from here occasionally. Treat yourself! read more

I found this really cute new cafe in Admiral! Mioposto next door wasn't open yet, so I came in here to escape the cold. It's not a huge space, but there are a bunch of tables and a long high bar table in the middle, with cute cacti and succulents. I saw that they had matcha lattes, so I ordered that. I looked at the pastries - they had some little raspberry tarts and cookies and croissants and they looked good. The matcha latte was really really good. One of the best ones I've had. It's kind of hard to find matcha lattes in West Seattle, so I'm very pleased to find such a good one at this new cafe. The employees are really nice too. They have plenty of coffee drinks so I'll have to return to try those too. read more

Best contemporary coffee shop in town. The space also showcases lots of art, its a nice stop before work sometimes.

I had the pleasure of living right next to WSG, and i routinely visited in the morning between meetings. The staff is amazing and the coffee itself is great, i believe this place would deserve 4.5 starts for coffee alone. The reason I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5 is due to some of the polished details. For example, for their mocha, i believe they are still using hershey's syrup - i think that the use of a local chocolate melted into the drink would go a long way. Some other details I really like are that the plastic and straws are all compostable! This is a great touch. Please check this place out! read more

They served me a cappuccino that was $5 and it had, without exaggeration, had 1/2 inch of liquid in the cup and the rest was foam. Just poor attention to detail on the drinks overall. Beh I won't return. read more

A new coffeehouse addition to the North Admiral area of West Seattle. This place has only been open for a week. The ladies at the counter welcomed me with a friendly smile and was very friendly throughout our transaction. The space is open, bright and chic. I love the large windows in front that allows a lot of natural light in. Lots of seats in the coffee shop and there were already several people working away on their laptops. They present their menu on the screen that's placed above at the back of their counter. However, it may be noteworthy to enlarge the font size a little as I can tell that some people might have a hard time reading it. I ordered a 12oz drip and their Florentine breakfast sandwich (spinach, egg, feta with a little bit of roasted red peppers) made in house. Total came out to $8.81 (12oz drip - $2.75 & sandwich - $5.25 & sales tax of 10.1%). Sandwich is a little pricey for the size. It was good. They also have many milk alternatives including hemp milk, which I don't find that often. Service was quick, and again, the baristas were really nice. Their coffee beans are from Caffe Umbria (wholesale coffee roaster based in Seattle). I've never tried their beans before, but their drip was really a good medium roast. West Seattle Grounds also have a variety of teas and baked goods. In their bakery case, there are a few options that are gluten free and dairy free. Some recognizable goodies come from Mighty-O Donuts and NuFlour. I love that they work with other local businesses around Seattle. I'll be coming back to try their other coffee and tea varieties! read more

It's a bit odd that we have three local coffee shops on this corner but somehow West Seattle Grounds seems to have found a niche. It's sunny and bright inside. Great coffee and espresso drinks of course. Small amount of pastries and a couple options for breakfast sandwiches. Had some stale mini-donuts.once. The only negative experience thus far. Otherwise have enjoyed all of the snacks. Staff have all been friendly. Bag hangers under the tables, multiple outlets and free WiFi. They use squareup for coffee awards - one every 10. Brightly lit space that keeps me focused, particularly during these darker winter days. Good space to work that allows you to sit, stand, or circle around the front while keeping an eye on your belongings (through large windows). Cozy reading chairs to flip through a few pages of your book of the day. Now, for the coffee. I agree with a couple other reviewers. Tasted burnt. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's the pull of the espresso machine. I can see and taste that the milk is being improperly heated and overheated at the same time. One can notice this in the irregularity of foam bubbles and the separation of the foam from the milk layer. I once worked for a small cafe that served Umbria and I'd like to think that Umbria still provides on-site trainings with the team and your machine. My suggestion is to schedule them for a training session ASAP. read more

Great, local place that specializes in coffee and pastries. It seems after working out some kinks the first few weeks--as every new place must--WSG has found their rhythm: the lattes are great, and the selection of sweets pair well with the coffees on offer. Free WiFi covers the entire space well. Agree with the comment below: the font size of the electronic menu is eye-straining small, making prices hard to read. (Spoiler: coffee here costs the same as the big name chains down the street.) Highly recommend and will return! read more

Went check out hours today and was surprised by the reviews. Very odd! I've been making a long trek to get here since I discovered it recently, just for the perfect americanos with standard 3 shots in a 12-ounce. Beautiful, fresh Umbria beans and cozy space. It was barren at first but each week they seem to add cozy furnishings, including art and a couple of cozy chairs. They are just starting out and I think they found their groove. So happy to have this place in the neighborhood - right next to Mioposto. The staff are sweet and welcoming.
